Excellent taste!
We had a fillet steak and a rump steak (300g) - both tasted really excellent. Unfortunately, one star deducted: In our opinion, the rump steak was significantly smaller than the stated 300g. Given the high prices, the portion size should be right. We pointed this out to the service - it was noted but no further comment was made.
It's very good that Indian cuisine is finally enriching the gastronomy in Herne. Shalimar offers a wide selection of vegan, vegetarian and other traditional Indian dishes. The⁶ dishes are freshly prepared. The portions are well sized and made from fresh ingredients. Very good price and performance ratio as well as friendly service. Always my pleasure.
We were really looking forward to our visit to Sidarenko, the occasion was an anniversary. When we arrived we had the first disappointment: the restaurant takes part in the cooking star lessons, but didn't tell us about it when we made the reservation and it wasn't visible on the website (at least not right away). Means: menu that is very mushroom-dominated, or nothing. Luckily, I really like mushrooms.
During the meal there were little things that I simply wouldn't expect at a restaurant of this class: a starter was served on tree trunks (looked great!) but it crumbled - we didn't get any plates, we were allowed to wipe the table ourselves. The main course was absolutely tiny - vegetarians pay the same but don't get an equivalent alternative. First dessert was an avocado ice cream which was really inedible - I've rarely had something in restaurants that I really couldn't eat, but that was the case here.
Guests at the neighboring table had similar problems - culinary specialties were not announced there either, and the main course was too small.
In the end, we weren't even told how we could rate the menu if we wanted to. One can only assume intent. My assessment of the food etc. should be understood in the context of the expectations of a restaurant of this class - what tasted good was also a real pleasure, but I simply expect more given the price range. It's a shame because we won't be coming back here after this experience.
I recently had the great pleasure of dining at this "small" but exquisite restaurant in Marburg – and I can confidently say that this evening was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.
From the very first minute, everything was just right: the atmosphere, the food,
and especially the service. I would like to use this review not only to praise the fantastic food, but also to highlight the exceptionally good service that made our visit
very special.
Mr. Dornhöfer embodies in every respect what excellent service means. From the very first moment, he was attentive, courteous, and professional without ever being intrusive. With a keen sense of timing, he was always there when needed, yet unobtrusive enough to allow you to completely relax.
His recommendations – both for the wine and the menu – were spot-on and perfectly matched our tastes. You immediately sense that someone here works with genuine passion and a deep understanding of hospitality.
The restaurant itself is lovingly decorated – stylish, but not overly opulent, cozy, and with a pleasant tranquility that invites you to relax and unwind.
You immediately notice that the work here is done with passion. The menu is concise, but very well thought out – a beautiful selection of creative dishes that skillfully showcase seasonal and regional produce.
Each course was a culinary highlight: fresh, subtly seasoned, perfectly matched, and beautifully presented. I would particularly like to highlight the starter: a tuna tartare with wild herbs and an orange sauce – an interplay of delicate flavors and exciting textures, as well as the main course (beef fillet), which not only impressed with its taste, but was also expertly prepared and cooked to perfection.
What was particularly impressive was that Mr. Dornhöfer not only had an open ear for individual requests, but also an eye for every detail. Empty glasses were noticed before you could even think about them, small special requests were handled with a smile, and even in more stressful moments, he radiated calm and warmth.
I can highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who not only wants to eat well, but also wants to feel truly welcome as a guest. Mr. Dornhöfer deserves special thanks – he made this evening something very special.
A culinary experience of the highest caliber – supported by service that is second to none. Many thanks to Mr. Fuchs and Mr. Dornhöfer for this unforgettable evening!
Very good, fine and well thought out food, very nicely presented. The service also good. The ambience is modern-stylish fine dining, perhaps even a bit too much for me. The food was above, the service was a bit below and the ambience was 4.5, which is the average and therefore 5 points.
We stopped by during our Zurich-Cologne journey. It is very easy to get in and out from the highway. There is no parking problem. The place is very clean, very decent, very nice. Whatever you eat, believe me, they are all wonderful. If I had the opportunity to give more stars, I would give them ten out of ten. In his own words, I would like to thank Mr. Sinan from Çorum, the center of the world, for his naivety and kindness, especially the service attendant.
I would also like to thank Ms. Aimee. In short, if you are passing through this route, please definitely take a break.
The pizzas are very tasty and the selection is good; everyone should find something they like here.
A wide selection of pasta and antipasti is also offered.
The desserts are also worth a look during a visit.
Atmosphere: small and cozy, rather quiet even on busier evenings.
Since the last price adjustment, the drinks have become very expensive, or rather more expensive with fewer contents.
Example: Coke Zero / Fanta etc. Old price 0.3l: €3.30
New price + new size 0.2l: €3.90.
In my opinion, that's just one screw too many... a total increase of ~77%.
All in all, I'm always happy to come back, but I'll just come less often in the future.
Super delicious and a great selection of dishes. We had edamame, hakau, bun tofu, and peanut chicken satay – all highly recommended. The crispy chicken is delicious and a great extra as a side dish!
