There were five of us there, and we all enjoyed the food. It seemed very authentic. Two of us had spent an extended period in Ghana and could confirm this. Very friendly service and a lovely restaurant on Oederweg.

It was cold outside, cozy and warm in the Selam bar, but the best thing was the human warmth and friendliness and the excellent coffee. Highly recommended.

I am really disappointed with this restaurant. The name “Mama Afika” doesn’t fit the menu at all, as the food has no connection to Ethiopian or Eritrean cuisine. The quality leaves much to be desired, and the bread used is simply white bread - apparently because it is cheaper. It seems as if the cooking here is without passion or heart. The portion sizes are very small and the taste is nothing like what you would expect from real African cuisine. It seems that they mainly serve guests who have no idea about the actual cuisine. It was definitely a disappointment for me.”

A recommended restaurant for African cuisine! Food: Very good. I'm not an expert on African cuisine (although you shouldn't say that, because African cuisine is very diverse and regionally different), but I really enjoyed it!! Service was good and courteous. However, I rate this objectively. There would be 5 stars for a mega-top service from upscale gastronomy. I was still satisfied! Ambience: It's a restaurant right next to the football field. It doesn't bother me, on the contrary: the remoteness means that the grill and smoker can run without residents complaining. (By the way: the grilled specialties are top notch!) Conclusion: I've been there twice and will definitely come back! If you like African cuisine and don't have a problem with a pub atmosphere, you're definitely in good hands here. It's definitely me!

!!Watch out!! If you want to party there, or if you go in like that as a white person, you will be looked at very critically, insulted and attacked, as my colleague says, racism in reverse. They take their frustration out on someone who just wants to party and have fun then something like that.
