DROMEDAR in Marburg

Normally I don't write so many reviews, but in this case I was annoyed. We had booked a birthday reservation for 3 adults in the Bedouin tent. But after we discovered that the table was only suitable for two people, I asked the waiter to give us a larger table. or whether it would be possible to push 2 tables together. But that wasn't possible because she said all the tables were reserved. She then gave us another table. Unfortunately it was just as big and we had very little space on the table. This was also almost directly at the entrance. I asked her again to assign us another seat, as there were other larger tables for 4 available, but apparently that wasn't possible. In the evening a couple came in with a baby and they were assigned a table of four, even though the baby was sitting on the mother's lap. Why wasn't the waitress able to give us a larger table? I have never experienced anything so inflexible. I didn't like meal number 6 either, I had the feeling it was just goulash. It was the first time I ate African food, but unfortunately I can't recommend it here at Dromedar. Sorry, never again.

I've eaten there many times with different people and both I and the others always enjoyed it. I mostly ate lamb meat, which I can only recommend, and the Dju Dju beer and cocktails are exceptional and super tasty. The portions are enough and the price is also great. 😃

My friend and I had dinner here and it was an open buffet and honestly all the options were delicious, the staff was great and friendly and the ambience was very nice.

Great Eritrean restaurant with an exceptional atmosphere. We went to the vegan buffer and everything tasted great. We sat in a room with desert sand and had a great time!

Very nice, small restaurant. There were two of us and we indulged in the buffet. There was a selection of dishes from the menu here. The food on offer was never overflowing, but empty containers were always refilled straight away. The staff was very friendly, although in my opinion they were a little under-present. Now to the most important point: the food. We enjoyed it very much. All the dishes on offer were individually and unusually seasoned and very tasty, especially eating with your hands was something different. We also tried something out of the drinks menu. Here too there was a large selection of partly exotic soft drinks, wines, beers and cocktails. We were most impressed by the bill. We haven't been under €50 for two people including drinks for a long time! We recommend.

We went on a short vacation here in Marburg. My daughter and I ate African food here for the first time. We enjoyed it very much. And the ambience was nice too. 😊

We ate from the buffet and were there on a Monday. The food was very tasty and varied. The buffet was constantly replenished. The selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes was outstanding!

We've been eating more at Dromedary's in the last few weeks; be it on site on the beautiful roof terrace or pick up or have it delivered to your home (everything worked wonderfully every time). Both my friend and I chose a different dish each time. Whether with meat (Zigni Berai, Zigni Begih, Zigni Derho, Alicha Sga) or "just" with vegetables (Hamli-Ful, Silzy): "It's a harmony in the mouth" - friend. Together with the injera bread, every dish is a poem. The employees were always very courteous and correct, and always gave good injera bread refills if you needed one. From our side, this restaurant is highly recommended. Gladly again ;)

Geschmacklich sehr lecker, aber keine großen Portionen. Service war auch okey. Ich würde aber wohl nicht mehr hingehen, da es einfach sehr viel Auswahl drumherum gibt. Zudem ist auch dort wieder nur Barzahlung möglich

Actually a very cool shop. Delicious food and good ambience. The buffet is great. But unfortunately one incident brings everything down for me. The opening times are stated as 6:00 p.m. to open end. Happy hour is 10 p.m., which is advertised on signs in front of the restaurant. At 10:40 p.m. on a Friday I was told by the waiter: “We’re closing soon.” Nothing with food or at least drinks. If you can't even rely on the advertising in front of your door on a weekend evening, then you don't really need to plan anything. Variable opening times are perfectly fine if you communicate them openly and can plan accordingly. But in this case, Google says until 2 a.m. There's a small sign on the door that says "Open End" and 10pm happy hour outside. Walked in the evening. Many thanks

I love the exceptional food and the varied preparation. The vegan buffet is also recommended for meat lovers because you really don't have to miss out on anything when it comes to taste.

It couldn't be better! The ambience, food and service are simply top. It's a nice place to go out for dinner with friends and have an experience. “Mushing around” in the food is fun and something special. The cocktails and especially the tea are highly recommended.

My favorite restaurant in Marburg. Great ambience, delicious vegan buffet and other vegan dishes and reasonable prices. I always like to come back! What would be even nicer: if the dishes at the vegan buffet varied from time to time. Then I would definitely try more!

The food was good, but is becoming less and less.

The low seating is not necessarily good, especially if you have hip and back problems. But everything was still great, whether it was the food or the service

The days with a buffet are particularly recommended if you can't imagine much of the food. It doesn't really make a difference whether you have a vegetarian day or a meat buffet day. The selection is really good and (if you like this type of food) there really is something for everyone. On the remaining days there are mixed plates for those who are undecided, also highly recommended!

Delicious food, no card payment a no-go in 2024

We chose this restaurant as we were walking past it and it caught our attention from the outside. We happened to be there on the day of the vegetarian buffet, which worked out perfectly and was extremely good. Only those who are not afraid of eating with their hands should go here. The atmosphere was very nice, a lot of effort was put into it. Unfortunately, I found it a bit dark to eat in the "tent", and some device was humming quite loudly, but that didn't detract from the whole experience. I will definitely come again!

Nice restaurant, very tasty food & very friendly service! It's just a bit of a shame that even though I ordered still water, tap water was brought to me and we paid over €3 for it...

I just found the rooms a bit too narrow! Otherwise everything was great! Gladly again!

Veganes Buffet sehr lecker mit vielen verschiedenen Gerichte

Sonntag u. Montag gibt es ausschließlich Buffet. Wir waren mit Freunden gleich zu Beginn um 18 Uhr da und es gab von allem reichlich. Fleischgerichte mit Rind und Schwein, verschiedene Gemüsebeilagen und das traditionelle afrikanische Brot. Teils mild gewürzt, teils etwas schärfer gewürzt. Alles war wirklich schmackhaft und mal etwas anderes. Die afrikanischen Cocktails mit Gewürzen sind wirklich ausgezeichnet und sollte jeder mal probieren.

Das vegane Essen ist hervorragend, egal ob im Restaurant oder als Lieferung, einfach lecker und sauber! Das Personal ist großartig, total freundlich und zuvorkommend. Eines der Top 3 der besten Restaurants in Marburg!

Mein erstes afrikanisches Veganes Buffet und ich muss sagen es war wirklich super lecker. Nette Bedienung und tolle Atmosphäre.

Passende Atmosphäre, Essen war gut, hätte aber etwas mehr sein können. Dafür war es preiswert und wir sind mit Vorspeise satt geworden. Vielleicht probieren wir das nächste Mal das Buffet 😃

Außergewöhnliches und gutes afrikanisches Restaurant, das ein sehr schönes Ambiente hat. Die Speisen haben eine Art "Baukasten-Prinzip", so dass man sich seinen Teller aus verschiedenen Fleisch- und/ oder Gemüse-Komponenten zusammenstellen kann. Wobei die verwendeten Zutaten nicht "exotisch", sondern dem Europäer vertraut sind. Dies raffinierte Zubereitung macht den Reiz aus. Das Restaurant spricht die Einladung aus, nach Landessitte mit der Hand zu essen. Wer Besteck möchte, bekommt natürlich welches. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist stimmig. Der Service ist schnell und aufmerksam könnte aber freundlicher und zugewandter sein.

Ein tolles Restaurant mit leckerem afrikanischen Essen und sehr guten alkoholfreien Cocktails. Die Atmosphäre dort ist richtig schön und wir alle haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Ich komme gerne wieder :)

Am Büfetttag standen nur 2 Fleischgerichte von der Speisekarte zur Auswahl zur Verfügung. Das Rindfleisch war leider zäh.

Waren am Samstagabend da. Es gab Buffet. Buffet an der Theke schlecht beleuchtet. Für meinen Geschmack zu wenig milde Speisen.

Wir haben beim Buffet mitgegessen und da war alles super. Große vegane Auswahl und wirklich reichlich, die Cocktails waren auch sehr lecker. Am Ende wo wir die Rechnung bekommen haben, wurde leider das Buffet normal abgerechnet, obwohl wir 2 mal gesagt hatten, wir wären Schüler. Also die Mitarbeiter könnten ein wenig freundlicher sein, aber sonst war alles super👍🏻

Wir hatten Buffet für 15€. Das Essen hat sehr sehr gut geschmeckt und Service ist aufmerksam. Wir saßen auf der Terrasse aber die Ambiente drinnen ist auch schön. Sehr empfehlenswert

Super leckeres Essen. Rabatte für Studis oder an bestimmten Tagen machen es auch finanziell attraktiv. Man sitzt total gemütlich und wenn man das Buffet nutzt, kann man eben direkt loslegen. Im Sommer ist der Balkon auch sehr gemütlich. Die Cocktails sind sehr vielfältig, viele leckere Rezepte. Reservierung ist seeeehr zu empfehlen!

Best Ethiopian food in Germany. The food was very tasty!! I drive all the way from Frankfurt to Germany just to eat Ethiopian food in Marburg. Staff are very friendly and make the whole experience wholesome. They even have food for vegans.. well prepared with a full on menu for them.

The food was delicious!! I would say the best african food in Hessen, Germany. Very tasty and a lot of variety. You can choose the all you can eat menu and sample everything. One day of the week, Thursday, they have vegeterian food and if you want meat they still have something to offer. The beef was my favourite dish, cooked in some spicy red sauce. Very tasty! They also have a tent in one of the rooms with sand on the floor to give that desert safari vibe. Was there for a birthday and totally loved it!!

Das Essen vom Buffett war gut, wenn auch manchmal nur noch die Reste rausgekratzt werden konnten. Aber die Bedienung war uninteressiert bis unfreundlich. Ich finde auch, das die Speisen zumindest am Buffett ein bisschen besser ausgeleuchtet werden könnten, irgendwie sieht alles bei dem Schummerlicht gleich aus und das Auge isst ja bekanntlich mit...Aber das Essen, wie gesagt, schmeckt!
