Gasthof Grebe in Marburg

We certainly would have made more sales, but we didn't feel quite welcome. Unfortunately, we won't be returning here again!

Simply super, we like to go there because you can still get good home cooking and the staff are very nice and courteous

I don't understand the negative reviews. The food is excellent, the service was prompt due to the high volume of guests, but always approachable and friendly, and by no means dismissive. Yes, you get the soup of the day served almost immediately, and I don't know why it has to be served before you order your food, but it doesn't bother you. We'll be back.

The food is always really good! Every day for lunch, they serve a delicious soup starter. Where else can you get that? The poultry is especially great. It's from a local farm. Recently, I had fried noodles with chicken and vegetables. It was incredibly delicious! The manager is incredibly nice and always friendly. The staff is friendly, attentive, and efficient. We love eating here and have never been disappointed.

I can't say anything about the food; we didn't get a chance to try it. The male waitress took it as an insult that we showed up on a Sunday lunchtime with three people and no reservation. The place was half empty, but they said all the tables were reserved for 1:15 p.m. Even if that were true, the restaurant's communication was borderline poor. It's nice when things are going so well that you can afford to do that 🙃

Great value for money! Tasty and a feast for the eyes! Large portions! The ice cream was also particularly delicious, especially the salted caramel 😋

Marburg city center is very easy to reach. Plenty of parking is available.

I've eaten there several times while passing through. Always super fast, the soup starter usually arrives automatically before you see the menu, large, delicious portions. Last time I was there at lunchtime during the week, I barely managed to get two seats in the fully booked blockhouse, but the dining room was already full. Reservations are recommended even during the week!! Stopped by again today and went straight in for dinner. Excellent value for money. Great soup starter with pancakes, fresh salad, and for the main course, perfectly fried lemon-and-lime fillets (5 pieces!!) as a small portion, all for €11.00. You can't find anything comparable anywhere else for that price. Solid and honest food. Afternoon of September 10, 2025: I was back in the area after two years, and there was only one thing: lunch at the Gasthof Grebe. I had already looked at the daily menu online and read that the starter was pea soup, which I was looking forward to. I was then served a lentil soup, which I hate. The last time I had lentil soup was about 40 years ago. And I have to say, I loved it! Afterward, I had a delicious plaice that was still beautifully translucent and a fantastic, fresh mixed salad. The plaice was a bit carelessly presented, but at such an unbeatable price, you can easily overlook that. If I'm in the area again, I'll be back. 100% recommended. And for travelers passing through, the advantage is that it's really quick, which is very important to me personally.

If you don't appreciate the Gasthof Grebe, nothing can help you. This is the only home-style hotspot in the entire district. The lunch menu is legendary; where else can you find dishes that have been lost to boring, traditional cuisine? In the cozy atmosphere and with fantastic service, time flies. A well-known TV presenter and chef spoke for me: "A dream!"

We really wanted to go out to eat and weren't familiar with the restaurant, so we were all the more surprised by how busy it was, and we even managed to get a table for two. We sat down at a nice table and were given the daily special by the very hospitable waiter and ordered a white wine and a water. The food was quickly ordered: a gypsy schnitzel and a baked chicken leg with potato salad. Positive: We were given a chicken fricassee soup as a starter, without asking and at no extra charge. It's great that they still serve something like that today. Thank you ☺️ The salad for the main course also arrived quite quickly, and the main courses were also served at a very reasonable time. The food was SUPERB, and everything was perfect; nothing was overseasoned or tasted artificial. Simply great👍 The portions were so large that you couldn't quite finish them, but you could pack up the rest and take it with you.👍 On the value for money The meal cost €12.80 each, and with drinks, my wife and I paid €31.80. We were pleasantly surprised. We can only recommend everyone to eat there, and we promise to be back. Thank you for the truly perfect service and the great food.

I needed a room shortly before the meeting and got one very quickly. Arrival was easy, check-in was super simple. I even got a drink even though it was closed. The room was as advertised in the email, a small double room for single use. Very clean, and the bathroom was perfect. The breakfast included in the room rate was sufficient, with cold cuts, etc., in the refrigerator. The very friendly staff brought me coffee, and I got as much as I wanted. The coffee was from a fully automatic machine and very tasty. The location was a stone's throw from the meeting I was attending. All in all, I'd be happy to come back and highly recommend the Gasthof Grebe. I had NOTHING to complain about, quite the opposite. We ate at the Gasthof Grebe after a hike and were accordingly hungry. The quality of the food (I had pepper schnitzel) was decent, and it was served very quickly. I've never experienced anything like it at any other restaurant. It should be noted that the beer garden was packed! The quality of the beer is outstanding, hence the four stars. The service was attentive, but unfortunately a bit abrupt at times. We still felt comfortable.

The two of us spontaneously booked a hotel room for one night and were completely satisfied! Despite the day off, the journey was uncomplicated, the room was clean, and the location was very quiet yet close to the city. For the low price, it's worth a visit.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. The schnitzel from the lunch menu was of a snack-bar quality. The wait was only five minutes before it was on the table. Soup was already served before we even got to the table. Unfortunately, everything was not good.

At the Gasthof Grebe, we spent a cozy evening in the covered beer garden in a family atmosphere. The home-style cooking and freshly tapped beer left nothing to be desired. The plates were generously filled. The daily specials and à la carte menus are straightforward and varied. The dishes are guaranteed to be fresh, sourced locally, and the service was competent and naturally friendly. There were eleven of us, and things got a bit loud at times, but no one complained. An inn that truly lives up to its name.

We were there on a Friday. We hadn't even sat down yet when the soup was on the table; it was lukewarm and the garnish was cold. The side salad came straight away, so unfortunately I couldn't eat it because a big fly had made itself comfortable in the salad. My wife ordered schnitzel with gypsy sauce; the sauce was so sour that it was almost impossible to eat, and it also came with sweetcorn, which didn't belong there at all. Of course she didn't have to pay. The service was very friendly.

We went there for lunch yesterday, and I have to say we haven't had such a bad meal in a long time. The schnitzel was cold, and we told the waiter, but he didn't care at all. It's a shame, really; the food there is always good.

There's almost no vegetarian food, let alone vegan. What's available is so uninspired that the menu seems like a political statement in favor of excessive meat consumption. Looking at the dressing on my salad, I doubted a chef worked there. The service was friendly, but unfortunately, they cleared all the plates before the last one was ready. One star for the fries.

We've eaten there several times now. The prices are still very humane. The food tastes very tasty and the portions are very large. The only point of criticism (depending on how you interpret it): The food comes too quickly for my taste. After just 15 minutes, the food for our entire table (9 people) arrived.

In short: the food is delicious, but we won't go there again. In general the service is fast, sometimes too fast. Unfortunately, we noticed a male service person in a negative way: you just go out for some fresh air and the food is put away. Just like that. The plate was still half full and we weren't actually finished. After 5 minutes, eat away. Dessert wasn't offered at all, even when asked, it was offered rather hesitantly. The tables in the interior are much too narrow, which often results in a lack of space. It feels like you have to leave quickly, despite having a reservation. In general, the interior looks very old and could use an upgrade. The pictures of the rooms don't look particularly inviting either. Which hotel still has a tube TV today? So unfortunately no recommendation

We always enjoyed eating there, but the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly. Far too often too much salt and otherwise not as good as before. Very unfortunate. At lunch you are given soup before you have ordered or have drinks.

We only ate in the restaurant here so I can't rate the hotel.

I wanted to reserve a table for the evening on Wednesday, wrote an email on Monday and received no response! Then I asked on Wednesday morning and apparently there were no tables left. It's good that there are other restaurants in Marburger Land that are friendlier to their guests!

We've been eating schnitzel there regularly for years. To summarize briefly: -Price: Top! -Taste: Great! -Service: Top!

We've always enjoyed being there so far. When the female waiter is there, you get what you want, including friendly and competent service. Today, however, the junior was there and refused my aunt the children's menu, instead offering the seniors' menu, which was far too much and cost more. The rest probably went into the trash can. This is not a service.

I had something to eat there with a friend yesterday. The service staff was very quick and above all friendly. The food was ready very quickly and it tasted great. I also really liked the location. I would definitely recommend and eat there again.

Yesterday evening we were here at the Gasthof Grebe with a small group and it was a thoroughly successful evening! We ate steak and goose - both dishes were very well prepared. The steaks were served the way we ordered the doneness. The goose was very juicy and was served with plenty of side dishes. The service was another highlight: fast, attentive and always friendly. The team looked after us and the other guests and checked in regularly. The ambience of the restaurant was also right – rustic and cozy, ideal for a relaxed dinner. You immediately feel comfortable and can enjoy the evening in peace. The value for money is unbeatable, especially the house beer, which was served at a very fair price. It's rare that everything comes together so well - excellent food, perfect service and great value for money. We'll be back. I can only warmly recommend the Gasthof Grebe and am already looking forward to our next visit!

Christmas party, various dishes. Food absolutely below average. Dishes came far too quickly after ordering, meaning they weren't freshly prepared. You can leave out the side salad straight away, it's bad. Insufficient, little leaves and carrots. Steaks ordered medium, pre-cooked and almost done, not freshly fried, I think Convectomat helps with that. Goose exactly the same. Schnitzel OK. Side dishes? You can't go wrong with fries... Dessert ok, but also standard. Been a customer for years, but after visiting today won't be back for the price. Honestly the worst steak I've had in ages. Service very rushed but attentive. Thank you anyway.

The service is always very friendly. Also good is the wheat beer. I had the gypsy schnitzel (that's the technical term xD and will always be xD) and for me the sauce was the best I've ever eaten. I absolutely cannot understand the bad reviews here and the negative experiences I have heard. The restaurant was well attended, almost full, we sat on the well-heated terrace and yet the service was very good, fast and friendly. The food came really quickly, was good and plentiful and all at good prices.

We visited the restaurant. Delicious dishes (I had the cod fillet)! Good portions with a corresponding price-performance ratio.

Nice atmosphere in the winter garden, very friendly staff, very tasty food that was on the table for 4 people after a maximum of 20 minutes. We'll be back.

We stayed here from work. Slept really well and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast.

The atmosphere was a disaster. At 8 degrees you were sat on the terrace and occasionally a hot air blower was turned on, which was so loud that you could no longer understand your own words. The food was totally dry and the service was unfriendly and flexible like a reinforced concrete wall. Everything tasted like flavor enhancers. In short, never again...before then I'll throw my money out the window.

Were there for lunch. The delicious starter soup was free and our two schnitzels with hunter's sauce, fries and salad tasted very good.

Went there for dinner this evening. The steak from the daily menu with chimichurri was very tasty, a poem and a large portion, the salad was great with a delicious dressing and the service was very friendly and responded immediately to requests.

Hello, I've eaten there many times and it's always been good, but yesterday I was very disappointed. Cordon bleu was fart dry, cheese was nowhere to be found, fries were hard. My girlfriend's steak had no taste at all. Too bad. Service and location good as always.

We had booked an overnight stay with breakfast Room was OK but with beds spread apart Room size was ok for us as we were only there to sleep The breakfast was very tasty with a large selection of bread rolls All you need for breakfast was that salmon was also offered. Delicious breakfast 👍

We were passing through and stopped here for lunch. And it was just wonderful!!! The beer garden was nice and clean with great seating. The service was excellent - we were served immediately, the food came super quickly and the waitress was very friendly. And now about the food: just a poem. The portions were very large and the food tasted incredibly good. Also a really great value for money. The business can only be recommended and we hope to be in the area again soon!

Called to make a reservation in 2 weeks. I was asked (very harshly): "Does this have to be now, in the middle of the operation?". No, it doesn't have to be. I hung up and “tried” someone else. But perhaps you should inform other future guests somewhere visible about when they can call you - perhaps when it is already closed? Then no one will bother you ;)

This is the second time we've eaten here and it was incredibly tasty again. Super friendly staff, very nice atmosphere both inside and outside. Absolute recommendation. We would love to come back.

Simply sensationally good food. As a bus driver, I get around a lot with my passengers and have eaten in quite a few restaurants. But here the combination of service, atmosphere and food simply couldn't be beat. I have also received nothing but positive feedback from my passengers throughout the series. Keep it up 👍🏼

We ordered food from Grebe again and were thrilled again. Among other things, we had this Grebe's sauna cutlet, It's already on the menu Big chop but my God what a huge stick :-) Absolutely great and if you don't get full you have a nutritional problem ;-) So we are thrilled and will eat at Grebe again, Absolutely recommended.
