Very good food in a nice atmosphere! Great service, even when it's very busy! There is little to complain about, but the breading of a Wiener Schnitzel should be crispy and not mushy. The dishes taste simply great!

We were there for dinner this afternoon. We had the schnitzel with pumpkin foam, rösti and salad from the daily menu. For €14.90 Delicious. Only one salad wasn't dressed properly, as if some salad dressing was missing. But otherwise very good 😃. We also liked the ambience. Service friendly, courteous and quick. Gladly again at any time 👌

Price performance is good! The food is good and simple. I think one person is missing from the staff when the store is full. It makes sense to reserve for larger groups of people 😊.

This is explicitly not a review of the food at Barefoot, but rather refers to a service employee and a very specific event. Early this evening there was a funeral procession for the massacre on October 7th. from the Oberstadtmarkt to the Garden of Remembrance. On his way, the participants carried candles, nothing else like flags or banners. It was a group of people mourning and remembering. This obviously bothered one of your employees so much that he asked, "What about the Palestinians?" and “Genocide!” had to call. I honestly wonder what his purpose was with this. Did he want to feel powerful for bullying grieving people? Does he really care about the Palestinians who are actually suffering? Or does he “just” have something against Jews? I don't know it. But it makes me sad that you can't mourn in peace in this country. How would your employee feel if, at a mourning rally for innocent Palestinians, people suddenly shouted loudly about Hamas's actual genocidal intentions? Or after the victims of October 7th. would be asked loudly on the Israeli side. That would be equally inappropriate. Palestinians and Jews alike have a right to mourn and remember. He trampled on that today. And before anyone gets the idea that this is a call for dismissal or cancellation. I don't want him to get fired or get talked at stupidly by the side. But maybe someone should have a serious conversation with him and ask why he thought that was a good idea, whether he still thinks so and whether he might want to apologize to the Marburg community. We all live here together in a country with a very dark history. We will never all agree. But maybe we should start talking to each other instead of yelling at each other or, in this case, at people who are silently grieving. Feel free to tell your employees this too, it can only improve our coexistence.

There are so many beautiful and interesting establishments in Marburg that it is very difficult to choose. Our hotel gave us a discount at 5 restaurants and cafes Barfus, one of them was. You didn't regret coming here at all. The food was very tasty, pleasant atmosphere, polite and friendly staff. The prices are also reasonable; dinner for two cost us 31 euros.

Nice service, good food that stands out from the crowd. 2 people with starters wine and cocktails under 70 euros.

Today the five of us were out and about in the beautiful old town of Marburg and came across this quaint restaurant. We were thrilled by the large selection of casseroles and each of us ate a delicious casserole. The wait staff was incredibly responsive and friendly, big compliment! We can recommend the restaurant!

Discovery of the place to revisit during a future visit...

We went there for lunch for the first time today. All dishes were very tasty. However, the service could use some work on its friendliness. We all had a starter and explicitly mentioned it. There was also a completely stale Fanta, but it was exchanged without any problems. The entire meal was then served in one go, which was a logistical challenge because the table was far too small. When we asked why this was the case, we were blamed because we hadn't specifically mentioned that the main course was supposed to come later. Find the error😬

Located in the middle of the old town of Marburg, a rustic pub with a lot of charm. Unfortunately, the food disappointed me for the second time. This time it was the house salad. I always thought you couldn't go wrong with salad, but you can. Especially if you put hot onions and hot mushrooms on the salad so that it collapses In addition, instead of “fresh from the oven” baguette, a grain roll was served, which probably came from breakfast and had to go. The service: “Today I’m serving you this special bread.” Only after asking and with much delay was the baguette, which was three times as big as the roll, available.

Omg casserole is so good, unbelievable. The service was mostly very nice, one lady was a bit confused, but everyone has a bad day!

The soap dispenser in the women's toilet is hanging crooked. Soup was OK.

Very tasty restaurant with a large selection of different dishes. There is tarte flambée, pasta, casseroles, soups, schnitzels, etc. There is also a lot for vegetarians. Staff is very friendly and the restaurant looks very nice. I had a tasty curry casserole. Conclusion: The next time I'm in Marburg, I'll eat here again.

The breakfast is very good and the staff is very attentive. We had the number 10 and coffee and tea included. For cappuccino or latte there is a surcharge of €2.50

We chose Barfuß specifically because its homepage stated that it was open until 1 a.m. and we had a lot to plan and discuss. We had ruled out a closer local alternative because this restaurant closes at 11 p.m. In fact, the last lap took place at 10:45 p.m. and we were asked to leave at 10:55 p.m. Luckily we hadn't made the decision about the last round yet, otherwise we would have had to drink our wine in 10 minutes. I think you should be honest, even with the published opening times. So you feel tricked because when planning the evening you trusted the information on your own homepage and there was no way we would have gone to Barefoot if you had honestly stated the actual opening time.

We waited over an hour to even order a drink and the place wasn't full.

We had a beautifully prepared breakfast with fruit, vegetables and everything our hearts desired. Always top and only recommended.

Very good restaurant with a good location - something went wrong with our order, but they were super nice and did everything they could to fix it quickly.

We ate an excellent breakfast in this establishment in a rustic ambience, sweetened by melodious musical accompaniment. The Mundschänke's attention and her language friendliness delighted our hearts. A destination for morning table delights for noblemen and women.

The terrace was full, so I just took it out and ate it, and it was very delicious :D I had number 56, a baguette with chicken breast and tomatoes. The staff were friendly and I was able to pack the food comfortably! Note, you speak English very well.

In my opinion the best restaurant in Marburg. The specialty, the Auflauf. We have tried several and it never disappoints. Delicious, large portions. Cost-benefit: excellent.

The breakfast was really delicious. There is a nice selection of different breakfasts there or you can put it together yourself. The coffee and cappuccino were just as tasty, and they also have oat milk instead of regular milk. The service was friendly and nice.

We had food in the pan. It was really hot and very, very tasty. Would recommend it to anyone going to Marburg.

Food was good and the prices are okay too. I personally can recommend the schnitzel. A colleague of mine tried the casserole and was also very satisfied.

The best restaurant I have visited recently. The portions are very large and taste delicious. The service is very quick and friendly. We really enjoyed our lunch with my mother and will be back soon. Thank you for a great experience

Following a recommendation, we stopped in for dinner last afternoon. We had gnocchi with chanterelles and a salmon and spinach lasagna. Both dishes were very salty. The gnocchi was too much and too dry, the chanterelles were so-so. The waitress was chewing gum. The atmosphere was horrible because it was extremely loud (constant banging of dishes). In general it was extremely loud in the store (how about sound insulation and intelligent room layout?). We were disappointed and won't be coming back.

Sacrifice your jam, then the wasps will leave you alone and you can enjoy a delicious breakfast :-)

Great location with outside dining. Have eaten here twice, Salads excellent but better to go to Italian restaurant for Italian items, though Barfuss versions not bad. Also sprach Neu Yorker

This was my first time eating here and I had a great deluxe breakfast (see photo, plus a grain roll and a croissant). Plus unlimited coffee crema (and milk) and tea (large selection); other coffee specialties at a reduced price. The whole thing for around 16 euros is a really fair price. The staff was very nice and attentive, even if something was forgotten occasionally. We sat nicely outside, I can't say anything about the inside. Definitely coming back!

We sat outside in beautiful weather. The food was delicious and the service was nice. But twice we were asked again by the other service staff what we wanted. Note: Better this way than if no one asks. So overall recommended. Another note at this point: The access to the toilet is winding and has a low ceiling and uneven floors. Be careful there.

First of all: The food tasted good. But the price of the Barefoot has gone up so much that I definitely won't be coming back. I know, energy costs, minimum wage, increased purchasing costs, etc. make it extremely difficult. But 3.30 euros for a small cola and pasta dishes from 12.50 euros? My friend and I had a salad, a simple pasta dish and two drinks each. We paid 50 euros including a tip. This has nothing to do with a student bar; for that money you could just go to an upscale Italian restaurant.

After a long time back in Marburg. Café Barfuß was already great in the early 90s and still is. We (family of 3) were there yesterday and today for late breakfast. Vegan, special requests etc. everything is possible. Marburg and Café Barfuß - we'll be back!

I ordered the Salmon with spinach casserole/Auflauf. 🤤 It was really good and very much filling. Too bad I wasn’t able to secure a table for myself since it was a Saturday lunch time when I arrived there so better to make reservations since the place is not too big so it can be easily packed people. But taking my order to go was also not a bad idea because I just took a short walk to the castle 🏰 and sat on a bench. Great view and good food. see the photos

10 out of 10 for atmosphere and conviviality. Student-like, and above all tasty and affordable. We were with a large group (13 people) and were served quickly and friendly. Very professional. Our gratitude is great.

The shakshuka was really not good, the eggs were leathery and it didn't taste fresh, besides how can you serve an oriental dish with a slice of country bread? That is not how it works. Shakshuka simply includes flatbread. Coffee was very good.

This cafe is highly recommended. The dishes are very good, the service staff are very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is wonderful. Definitely try the casseroles and drink some chai. Keep it up and thank you for the lovely evening.

The foods were just great. The only problem was service. I were there with my friends. Even though we haven't finished our meals, the waitress started to clean the table. There were 25 minutes to the next reservation. Me and my friends found her manner rude.

Breakfast “oriental” was brilliant. Something different and I was full! It's great that you only pay for regular coffee and tea once and then you can always get it later. The service was very, very attentive and exceptionally nice!!!! It's best to reserve!

A great “old” café where I spent many an hour when I was a student.

Absolutely recommended breakfast, reasonably priced & really tasty. nice waiters & very accommodating. The volume is sometimes a bit uncomfortably loud, but what can you do... It will continue like this in 2024, huge appetizer portions & generally everything is very tasty :)

A visit to FORGET! We had no idea whether the waitress was preparing for the upcoming kangaroo competition or for some other reason she never wrote down what we wanted to order/booked it on her device. The absent-minded young woman repeatedly came back to the table, supposedly filling in the gaps in her memory by inquiring again about our wishes and, despite clear appeals in this regard, kept bringing some drinks with and some without ice cubes - a lottery. The food was bland and neither a melon nor a kiwi had any place on a schnitzel or chicken plate! However, to be fair, I'm giving it 3 stars because there was a heavy drinking session the night before and my taste buds may not have been at their best. But it wasn't enough to make my headlights ring, it felt like 400° Celsius in the store. Terrible! We'll think about giving it a second chance. Overthink things and it's no shame if you don't have the memory of an elephant and have to reach for a device or a pad and pen every now and then. All the best, all the best Ragazzi!

Best Casserole /Auflauf in Marburg. I recommend the tomato gnocchi basil version or the spicy ground beef with potatoes and peppers. It’s a small place But well worth the wait

Very popular, so make a reservation. Rich breakfast with lots of fruit and raw vegetables - 11 different formats to choose from, always including Café Crema and as much tea as you want (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.). And the menu offers much more: soups, salads, baked potatoes, baquettes, homemade tarte flambée, fetizza (flatbread instead of pizza dough), pasta, casseroles, schnitzels and steaks as well as desserts. Everything at a very good price-performance ratio!

Schönes kleines Café/Bar mit freundlicher Bedienung. Wir mussten zwar etwas auf unser Frühstück warten das war wohl den voll besetzten Tischen geschuldet aber das warten war es wert. Kaffee und Tee ist im Preis mit inbegriffen. Die Frühstücksteller sind liebevoll dekoriert mit frischem Obst,Salat und Gemüse. Ein Besuch auf jeden Fall Wert.

Ich/Wir können das Cafe Barfuss nur empfehlen. Waren zum Frühstück dort. Frühstück für 2, der Hammer. Megga Auswahl und Vielfältigkeit. Alles Frisch und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Wenn, dann wieder Cafe Barfuss.
