African Pearl in Frankfurt am Main

Ich habe dort Anfang Juli 2026 mit einer Gruppe von 10 Personen in der Mittagszeit meinen Abschied in den Ruhestand gefeiert. Das hat alles wunderbar funktioniert. Tolles Essen à la carte. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Alle waren begeistert. Vielen Dank daher noch einmal für das perfekte Erlebnis.

Kleine Portionen, aber sehr lecker. Wir waren zu zweit und mussten drei Hauptgerichte bestellen, um satt zu werden. Der Service war in Ordnung, aber wir bestellten Eintöpfe mit Injera und baten den Kellner um Besteck. Als Mexikaner esse ich Tacos normalerweise mit den Händen, aber in diesem Fall wollte ich aus gesundheitlichen Gründen nicht den ganzen Teller mit Injera essen, sondern nur ein paar Stücke. Nachdem wir nach Besteck gefragt hatten, brachten sie uns nur einen Korb mit Servietten. Wir dachten, sie hätten unsere Bitte vergessen, und fragten noch einmal. Der Mann war beleidigt und meinte, diese Gerichte esse man mit den Händen. Bitte nehmen Sie es nicht persönlich, wenn ein Gast nach Besteck fragt – man weiß nie, warum.

Es war so leckeres, herzhaftes Essen!

Das Essen war lecker, aber die Portionen sehr klein. Wir waren zu fünft und haben die vegetarische Platte bestellt. Zum einen fanden wir es etwas kleinlich, dass uns der Einzelpreis (insgesamt 75€) und nicht zumindest 2x Doppel- und 1x Einzelplatte (insgesamt 73€) abgerechnet wurde, obwohl alles auf einer Platte angerichtet war. Zum anderen hat die Menge nur deshalb gereicht, weil von den 5 Gästen nur einer männlich war, der dann das Brot unter dem Gemüse gegessen hat , um satt zu werden.

Freundlicher Service, Essen sehr lecker, gute ausgewogene Mischung zwischen Fleisch- und veganen Gerichten, authentisch präsentiert. Auch gute Getränkeauswahl.

Ein fantastisches Erlebnis von Anfang bis Ende! Das Essen war absolut hervorragend, der Service erstklassig und die Atmosphäre perfekt. Ich habe es sehr genossen und komme auf jeden Fall wieder.

Wir haben 43 Euro ausgegeben und dem Kellner gesagt, dass wir 5 Euro Trinkgeld dazugeben möchten, auf die 43 Euro, die er auch bereits in das Kartensystem eingegeben hatte, hat er aufeinmal auf 50 aufgerundet. Wenn man schon Trinkgeld geben möchte, sollte man auch fair sein. Unmöglich.

Nach einem Geschäftsessen zum Tagesausklang neben unserem Hotel: Die Atmosphäre war warm und einladend. Das Lächeln des Gastgebers war einfach herzerwärmend. Ich bin kein Experte, habe erst 2-3 Mal afrikanisches Essen probiert, aber dieses war mit Abstand das beste. Wir haben sowohl vegane als auch Fleischgerichte genossen. Es gab sowohl scharfe, wie ich es mag, als auch milde Varianten – beides war sehr lecker und sättigend. Es war kein gewöhnliches Abendessen, man isst mit den Händen, was mir sehr gefallen hat. Wir haben auch das Mango-Bier probiert, das fantastisch war. Ich kann es absolut empfehlen und werde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. * Ich habe die negativen Kommentare gelesen: Die Portionen sind ausreichend und machen satt, man braucht keine Nachspeisen. Der Service ist tadellos und immer freundlich. Das Restaurant ist beheizt, es ist nicht kalt (zumindest nicht im März). Alles Gute und vielen Dank für dieses tolle Erlebnis!

Ich war zum ersten Mal eritreisch essen und fand es richtig toll. Das Essen war unglaublich lecker und das Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Auch die Einrichtung des Restaurants ist richtig cool und sorgt für eine tolle Atmosphäre. Ich komme gerne wieder!

Bisher das beste afrikanische Restaurant, in dem ich Essen war, und das auch erstaunlich günstigen Preisen. Dazu sehr gemütliches Ambiente und sehr freundlicher Service - ganz ganz große Empfehlung!

Omg so good! Had the Katena and Sambussa to start, and then the Kara Mara. All of it delicious, and very good value. Service has been great. Would happily come again.

I'd never eaten Eritrean food before and was very intrigued. From the outside, the restaurant looks rather unassuming, but inside it's super cozy. African flair without kitsch. You immediately feel at home. The service is attentive and friendly. The menu has an entire page dedicated to vegan dishes. Excellent! The two of us shared a platter with chickpeas, lentils, spinach, lettuce, beets... You eat without cutlery. The food is served with sourdough flatbread. That's something different. I thought it was beautiful there and really enjoyed the delicately seasoned dishes. I can't comment on the price, as I was invited.

I was there yesterday and shared a vegetarian platter. The food was super delicious, and with two large sour spritzers, it was a really fair price! Highly recommended for a lovely evening.

I tried this place on the recommendation of my Ethiopian friend who said it tastes like home and reminds him of his grandma’s cooking. We shared the mixed meat platter and loved it. Everything was served on fresh and authentic injera, soft and full of flavor. The food was satisfying. The restaurant has a cozy and friendly atmosphere that really adds to the experience. It’s the kind of place where the vibe and the food work together to give you more than just a meal. The staff were kind and welcoming. If you're looking for a real taste of Ethiopian food in Frankfurt, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Furthermore, the platter for two people is unfortunately ridiculous in terms of quantity, as it includes, among other things, ONE chicken leg for TWO people. I can only recommend staying away from the place; unfortunately, the price is completely out of line and a disgrace for truly good African cuisine.

Truly excellent Eritrean/Ethiopian food. The injera was very light and fluffy, and the lamb—unlike so often elsewhere—was of good quality. The yellow lentils weren't overcooked and had a good texture. I really enjoyed it; I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine.

African Pearl offers authentic Eritrean cuisine and is conveniently located near a major bus stop, just a 5-minute walk from the Hahn Airport bus pickup. The cozy interiors and traditional African music create a charming atmosphere. We tried the hibiscus-flavored African soda—refreshing and unique. For starters, we had Katena, a soft, dosa-like bread served with chili sauce and butter—absolutely delicious. The main dish, Hànhchenkuele (Katena with chicken, egg, sauce, African spices, and salad), was flavorful and satisfying. The warm hospitality of the lady running the place made the experience even better. Highly recommended!

A slightly different way of eating. ☺️ Without cutlery, you are presented with a slightly different cuisine. And if you like spicy food, this is the place for you. From the outside it doesn't look particularly inviting, and the furnishings also seem a bit strange at first. But the service was really nice and the food was served in style. This is one of the hidden gems of Frankfurt! So authentic and amazing service and food.

Cosy restaurant with very traditional decor. The food took too long like almost 30 minutes to come when it was only 5pm plus and restaurant only had very fee customers. The food tastes weird but this is not their fault since this is first time I encounter Ethiopian cuisine. For chinese who are used to Asian cuisine you have to temper your expectations before trying. Cost wise its also abit more expensive as there are only few pcs of meat but lots of beans veg and flour stuff. The passion fruit beer is nice though.

A very attractive restaurant. The owner spoke to us at the door and we had a very nice conversation. Since it was still relatively early in the afternoon, we were the only guests. The food was very good. Everything was freshly prepared. If we are in Frankfurt again we will definitely stop here.

During the European Championship, our accommodation was towards the restaurant, so we thought we'd give it a try. We were not disappointed, everyone was very nice. The 3 of us ate a bowl for 4. The food was delicious, tasty, not too spicy. You had to eat with your hands, so it's worth preparing in advance. I can only recommend the place!

During our stopover in Frankfurt towards Vienna, we were looking for something close to our hotel. Our choice fell on this restaurant. We certainly didn't regret it. Something different from what we were used to eating but surprisingly tasty. We opted for the African Pearl tibzi (the gourmet dish) for 2 and we enjoyed it. The house dessert is also recommended. I can definitely recommend this restaurant.

We tried this restaurant as the most of the Ethiopian places were not open on Monday. The food was tasty but the quantity was relatively less. We love Ethiopian food and that is why we have been to Ethiopian restaurants in many big and expensive cities including London. The best thing about Ethiopian food is the number of items that they serve with the injera. Almost all the places we have been to have served at least 6 items excluding the meat for similar price. This place had three lentil items and one green leafy veg, that too, very little in quantity. The meat items they served were very little too. They served us this meal after waiting for 50 minutes at the restaurant.

Price performance absolutely excellent. The homemade mead is an unfiltered experience and comes to the table with a little surprise. In terms of price it is absolutely fair. And even though the portion may seem small at first, it is more than enough to fill you up. The two of us had the platter for two and couldn't finish it all. Service is super nice. You only have to draw attention to yourself to reorder drinks or pay, or if it's busy, go to the hedge. Overall, not a problem for me.

The only good thing tonight was my company! It was very cold in the restaurant. The food wasn't tasty and I still burp and taste it over and over again. Communicating with the waitress wasn't easy, and she didn't really show up, even though the restaurant was almost empty.
