We have been living in Viernheim for two years and visit this restaurant regularly. We are always very satisfied - which unfortunately doesn't happen all that often. The food is of good quality and very tasty, and the service is always friendly. No matter whether we reserve in advance or drop by spontaneously – you always feel welcome. Dear Mai-Tai team, thank you for your efforts! I am very happy to recommend this restaurant!

Food was quite good. Unfortunately, my shrimp dish was very, very spicy and salty, even though I liked a chili pepper on it and the gratinated pineapple had too much grated coconut as breading. Otherwise everything is good so far.

I will have to admit, that the food had a slight sweet taste that I did not particularly like. Food is suppose to taste savory in my opinion. Besides that I loved the atmosphere, and the service was great!

We have been regular customers since it opened and have regularly picked up something to take home. Today after some time we got something again. Apparently there is a new map. At the same time, the portion sizes have also shrunk extremely!!!! Not justified for the high price. We are very disappointed! Unfortunately, a portion of rice was also missing. So we had to cook something ourselves. It could happen, but we're still pretty disappointed and will probably have to look elsewhere. Too bad!

Hello Unfortunately, I would like to correct my previous rating. I have been to you several times in the past and have always been very satisfied. But after several visits recently, I have to say that I am increasingly disappointed. The portions have become significantly smaller - so much so that you can hardly feel full anymore. The quality of the food has also declined, which I think is a shame. Precisely because I used to enjoy being with you regularly, this development hits me particularly hard. For these reasons, we unfortunately won't be visiting as often in the future as we used to.

Meine Familie und ich suchten spontan nach einem Thai-Restaurant und stießen auf das Oriental Royal Thai. Bei unserer Ankunft wurden wir von einem Mitarbeiter begrüßt. Wir fragten höflich, ob es möglich wäre, ohne Reservierung einen Tisch für vier Personen zu bekommen. Zu unserer Überraschung reagierte der Mitarbeiter mit einem spöttischen Lachen und einem ironischem "Nein". Wir waren perplex über den Mangel an Höflichkeit und das fehlende Bedauern. Daraufhin besuchten wir ein anderes asiatisches "Fine-Dining" Restaurant in Wiesloch, wo wir trotz höherer Auslastung problemlos einen Tisch erhielten. Die Art, wie hier auf Rezensionen geantwortet wird, finde ich erschreckend und unprofessionell. Es scheint, als hätte man nicht gelernt, mit Kritik umzugehen. Kein Wunder, dass wir im Restaurant so behandelt wurden. Als jemand mit langjähriger Erfahrung in der Gastronomie weiß ich, wie stressig gut besuchte Tage sein können. Dennoch ist es immer möglich und wichtig, Gästen höflich und freundlich zu begegnen. Die herablassende Art, mit der hier auf Kommentare reagiert und ehemalige Kunden beschimpft werden, ist bedauerlich. Ich werde mich nicht wundern, wenn mir auch so auf meine Rezension geantwortet wird. Daher kann ich nur einen Punkt vergeben.

The ingredients were fresh and plentiful. Meat was tender, vegetables were fresh. However, it didn't really taste Thai to me. The curry with chicken could also have been a German chicken and cream slices. Also because the coconut cream tasted almost like normal cream. I was also disappointed by the lack of sharpness. Different levels of spiciness are indicated on the menu. I like spicy food, but probably more by German standards, so I don't have any extreme demands here. Here, however, the specified “medium hot” (vegetable curry) or “sweetly hot” (chicken curry) was not even slightly hot, but really not at all. I thought that was a shame because it was specifically stated differently and I therefore assumed that I would get a bit of spiciness. Perhaps we should have tried other dishes than the curries, perhaps they would have been more to our liking. In short: there is really nothing to complain about in terms of quality, portion size and service, but the taste was rather average and that was different a few years ago. There is more authentic Thai cuisine in the area, which I would prefer after my last visit.
