After a break that was far too long, we finally treated ourselves to another evening at Wielandshöhe - and are now wondering why we waited so long. This restaurant remains in a class of its own!
The 6 course meal was a delight from start to finish. Every course impressed with excellent products, perfectly prepared and without any unnecessary gimmicks. The focus here is on pure taste - no unnecessary decoration on the plate, but pure quality that speaks for itself.
The ambience also matches: timeless elegance, high-quality interior and a lived love of table culture - from fine silver cutlery to the perfect setting. You immediately feel comfortable and valued.
Another highlight is the outstanding service. From restaurant manager Eva Klink to each individual team member, you are looked after professionally, warmly and attentively - simply perfect.
Conclusion: The Wielandshöhe remains an institution for connoisseurs who appreciate real craftsmanship and genuine flavors. We'll definitely be back - and this time not after such a long time!
The food was great except for dessert. The starters were an eye-catcher both in terms of taste and appearance. The main course spaghetti was on point. Only the tiramisu at the end spoiled everything. There was definitely no mascarpone in it. It was a quark or yoghurt mixture that took me an hour and hot tea afterwards to get the bland taste out of my mouth. The dessert actually managed to ruin my evening. Given the prices and the other dishes, it's a shame.
You actually sit quite comfortably. But at the next table there was a bachelorette party or something like that, which was celebrated with a lot of fun and, unfortunately, a bit louder. Luckily, over half were smokers and they also spent a lot of time outside. If you want to eat something before the theater, it's good. Unfortunately it was a bit of a shame for us for a special evening.
We went to dinner at Ampoule last night. It was my first time there and I was really happy to finally be able to eat there. When we walked in, I immediately noticed the ambience - it's really nicely decorated, with a lot of attention to detail.
My friend wanted to make us happy and discussed with the waiter a meat platter for everyone along with various side dishes. The waiter was supposed to carve the meat for us at the table. So we expected a great mix of medium fried meat.
When the starters came, I was a bit suspicious. The Caesar salad was nothing special, even in terms of the selection of ingredients. It was prepared correctly and tasted okay, but for the price it didn't blow me away. The carpaccio was also tasty, but no better than the Italian restaurant around the corner. The tartare was well seasoned, but nothing special either. However, everything was nicely arranged. But the price-performance ratio wasn't right here.
Then came the selection of meat for the main course - already pre-sliced without the waiter carving it fresh at the table. We had ordered medium, but what was served was a colorful mix of different cooking levels - sometimes very dry. Here I have to say: At this point the concept is no longer correct. You call yourself the Beef Club and you can't handle it? Correctly cooking meat is a discipline that determines the price. The chef can only control the quality of the meat to a limited extent, but he is responsible for its preparation.
I found the side dishes to be cheeky. Here the quality did not correspond to the price. €6.90 for a small bowl of potato gratin - made from the wrong type of potato (floury potatoes) and then overcooked. Three bacon beans, lukewarm and prepared without any love, for a price that was far too high. The sweet potato wedges were okay, but not great either. I was actually most annoyed about the onion jam - it was definitely worth a 5.
We pointed out the meat to the waiter.
First we were promised a round of schnapps on the house, then a dessert platter and espresso. I thought that was a very good reaction from the waiter - he didn't look for excuses, but acted professionally. And here I have to say: the dessert was really delicious. The tart is on point, the crème brûlée is classic and very well prepared.
But we came for the meat - and unfortunately that was nothing. However, we were charged in full. All the extras on the house don't make up for it, because we didn't come for the tonka bean, we came for the beef club.
It can always happen that something doesn't fit. But in this price category that shouldn't be the case.
We paid over €1,000 and unfortunately the evening was absolutely not worth it. You try to be more than you actually are.
Nice and cozy here. The cuisine is delicious and worth eating here.
I wished for more side dishes. Peppers, tomatoes or maybe eggplant. I know that the specialties are from Bosnia, but a few vegetables would still have been great…
The waiter (owner) is super nice..
Excellent Mexican food and amazing service! When we came back for our second visit, the waitress remembered us and greeted us with a friendly "it's nice to see you again!"
Dare... Even if it doesn't look that appealing from the outside... Just go in and enjoy it! Super friendly staff and mega delicious food! It's worth it! I just wanted something small and stuck with the cheese spaetzle... but I could only see good things on the rest of the tables in terms of appearance and size!
It was very well attended and there was constant coming and going!
I was in the restaurant and wanted to order a kebab to take away. The employee at the counter ignored me while ordering even though he saw me.
It was a very unfriendly visit to this restaurant.
The food tasted great. However, I have to say I was a little disappointed with the portion size for the price. The "Special" comes with a cordon bleu and croquettes the size of a tealight, the medallions are tea-light-sized, and the roast beef is more like a roasted sausage. The waiters sometimes mix up the beers, so you'll often get a light beer instead of a pilsner.
