Unfortunately, a finite pleasure: according to the article in the Rheinische Post, the owners are looking for a successor :-( It's a shame - but understandable.
Until then: enjoy! Delicious food in the beer garden (partially covered and heated in bad weather). From the front it looks like a chip shop (which it is), but it's so much more! Access to the beer garden on the left side of the house.
I spontaneously picked up food because my trusted Greek restaurant was on vacation. It was a Thursday evening, and the place only had one or two tables occupied. Since they also do deliveries, it was still stressful. There were always at least three employees behind the counter, and some were also working in the kitchen. It was therefore incomprehensible that I seemed to have to wait forever for my order. Since I ordered individually and not from the menu, as stated, I was naturally charged extra. In the end, I paid €34 for two dishes, which blew my mind. I usually pay €24 for the same dishes. However, at my regular restaurant, tzatziki is included with the meal—and I don't have to order it separately. The bowl of mixed salad was thrown in without asking. I would have gladly done without it, since it would have been thrown unopened in the trash at home.
Now, to the taste. We had gyros, which we thought tasted quite dry and bland. But that was probably also because it was cut incorrectly. It's cut to the thickness of doner kebab meat, which doesn't really enhance the flavor. This was the first time I've bought such thinly sliced meat for a gyro from a "Greek" restaurant. The bifteki was also rather unimpressive.
The decor was modern and clean.
More in the style of a bistro than a date night restaurant.
The kids' corner, where you can "park" the little ones, is great. Although, for hygiene reasons, I wouldn't put my child in a ball pit in any restaurant.
The service staff were friendly and helpful, but clearly stressed.
We were curious about the place anyway, so we don't regret trying it. We won't be going back, though.
I'm assuming that the chef when I ate there was "not Greek". Tarama absolutely tasteless, tzatziki with little or no garlic and no cucumber. Giros looked like Spiez waste, with a few strips of "red" onions. I haven't been this disappointed in a long time.
We eat there regularly. Again on the weekend, the owner told us that it would be full and we might have to wait longer for our food (due to the gourmet spring and staff problems). We fully understood this and waited for about an hour. But as always, the food was very good and tasty! Despite the stressful situation, the service was super friendly and everything was great! If Greek, then Sparta!!
Price performance top. Large portions at a very fair price. Gyros homemade and freshly made. Very nice family. Extra requests are always fulfilled to your complete satisfaction.
Always happy to have the best gyro fries stall far and wide.
