Typical German food, just like grandma used to make. Delicious roasts, delicious dumplings, and very friendly service in a rustic restaurant. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the wild raccoon in the restaurant's garden.

Wow! We ate at Safran today and absolutely loved it! Not only was the reception very friendly, but the restaurant is also very nice/authentic. The food crowned the day, simply great! We'll be back!

A real nice place and super service

During our stay in the Harz, we spontaneously ate there on May 4th, 2025. I knew the “economy” from my childhood days and was last there over 40 years ago. Of course, a lot has changed. We were warmly welcomed even though we hadn't made a reservation. It may be that it was easier to get a table because we were in the Harz outside of the peak tourist season. Nevertheless, we received a very friendly welcome and were able to choose a table. You have to take some time with you as the food is freshly prepared. We each had a starter and the Cordon Bleu with fried potatoes. It was very tasty and plentiful. Hopefully we can go there again on our next vacation in the Harz. So if you like good home cooking, “Auf dem Rübchen” is the right place for you. We'll definitely be back. Thank you to the entire team and please keep it up for a very long time.

Very nice owners and good food at fair prices. The only drawback: the dining room is clearly showing its age and looks in need of renovation and a bit dingy. The sanitary facilities were clean and functional.

There aren't that many opportunities to get something to eat on a Friday evening in Thale. Luckily there are kebab shops. The culinary hotspots of smaller towns and villages. Everything went quickly and friendly. It tasted good too. What more could you want?

We were there for lunch today. Super delicious food, we tried a lot from salmon trout to venison goulash, everything was super fresh and very tasty. The homemade croquettes and the homemade lemonade are also very tasty. Very accommodating, friendly staff, waitress was great and took great care of us. We took some smoked trout with us and we're looking forward to it. We'll be back 🤩
