SophienBäck is wonderful! It was one of the best experiences we had during our stay in Germany. Great people, super cozy and nice atmosphere, and delicious food! I am so glad we stopped in here while in Würzburg. If we are ever in the city again, we will definitely be coming back!
Yesterday, on the first day of "Fish Harvest Week," we had an almost perfect evening at the restaurant. The menu and pricing raised certain expectations, which unfortunately weren't met. The food was truly excellent, as was the single server. Unfortunately, this single server couldn't maintain the restaurant's standard. Each course required setting the table with new cutlery, which was then handled with gloves. Every dish was explained to the guest in detail, including its origin and preparation method. Up to that point, the service was of a very high standard, which couldn't be maintained with just one server, and later with another! It's a real shame. The experience of fine cuisine combined with enjoyment was ruined by poor staffing. Later, despite empty tables, guests even had to be turned away due to this poor staffing.
I booked the evening before and wanted to cancel one night the next morning. A day later, I received an email saying it was too late. Ridiculous!
Unfortunately, it wasn't quite what I had imagined.
The tiles in the bathroom were broken.
I had to ask several times to get a Wi-Fi signal.
There were hairs in the "freshly" washed bed linens.
Towels weren't changed daily.
At least the location was nice, hence the two stars.
The perfect place to end the day, where you'll be well looked after and cared for. We felt at home from the very first moment. Very friendly hosts and excellent service.
Even as a die-hard beer drinker, I enjoyed the potato beer as an aperitif.
I had a small salad (very nicely presented in a glass) and the baked potato with garlic shrimp – sensational!!!!!! The recommended wine went wonderfully with it.
Highly recommended.
The falafel plate with hummus, feta, and salad was incredibly delicious, colorful, and fresh. I was absolutely thrilled. Unfortunately, the portions were a bit small; I wasn't quite full.
