Elegant, yet free… …that's the motto of the Bamberg restaurant Edelfrei. The fact that a restaurant in an 18th-century sandstone building has chosen a flamingo as its logo shows that creative minds are at work here. This is also evident in the restaurant itself, where everything is done in a friendly, yet relaxed and leisurely manner. With kingfish ceviche as a starter, a delicious fish dish with fennel and broccoli as a main course, and three scoops of ice cream, including a spectacular Mexican vanilla flavor, guests could create their own delightful evening from the menu in December. And even those who don't want a full meal are welcome in the former palace of the Barons von Aufseß – a noble family with a free ancestry – because the front of the restaurant features a wine café-bar where wine novices and connoisseurs alike are warmly welcomed.

The ambiance was positive, but everything else was fine, yet ultimately unacceptable. It started with us standing at the entrance like we'd been booked but never picked up. Our drink orders were taken promptly, which was good. The salad as a starter was also good. However, apparently, bringing plates was too much to ask. We ordered two pizzas that were doughy, as were the pizza rolls. The lasagna was essentially just a lump of cheese. My filet was unsalted and far from medium-rare. It could have been a dry piece of pork loin. The vegetables, however, were tasty. All in all, I don't understand the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Perhaps it's because many of the guests are acquaintances. At least, that was the impression we got. It wasn't possible to get separate checks or even to ask about them. Will we come back? Absolutely not. The food simply wasn't good enough.

Very welcoming and super delicious kebab. It's a shame I was only in Deggendorf for two days, but I'll definitely come back next time.

Last Saturday, we visited Focolare for the first time with a group. It was recommended by friends who were also with us that evening. We were delighted with the food, the prices, the friendly service, and the rustic atmosphere. We only deducted a point because we had to wait a while for our food. But! Everything was freshly cooked, and with the delicious appetizers and our friends, the time flew by. Highly recommended, and we hope to see you again soon!

Die mit ABSTAND beste Pizzaria im Umkreis, Inhaber und seine Kollegen sind immer super gut drauf, außerordentlich freundlich und zuvorkommend, und die Pizza,Pasta und sämtliche Speißen sind immer ausnahmslos TOP. Besonders lecker ist aber das selbsgemachte Tiramisu, einfach GÖTTLICH!!!

Wir waren schon letzten Sommer hier. Da war alles super. Dieseamal wars leider einfach teuer, das Essen war für den gehobenen Preis höchstens okay, die Hasen mit denen die Kinder gespielt haben waren verletzt - obs sich da wer entsprechend drum kümmert? - das Gartenapartment ist für den Preis recht runtergekommen. Für das Geld gibts sicher mehr.

We ordered noodles, sushi, and spring rolls. The noodles tasted only of grease, the spring rolls were soggy, and the sushi was unfortunately awful. I'll order from somewhere else for that price.

A very nice restaurant with great service and delicious food. The menu is quite small, but I think everyone can find something to their liking.
