We were at the University Hall in Wuppertal on April 23, 2024 for an event. We wanted to eat something in the restaurant beforehand and had just made sure that the restaurant was open from 5:00 p.m. Unfortunately, around 5:30 p.m. we discovered that this was not the case. That's not how you treat guests. Simply underground. In addition, there is only one other restaurant in this area, but it was already fully booked.
For me: never again in time-out.
The food was really delicious!
Schnitzel with fries and currywurst with fries.
Service was friendly.
Unfortunately I won't be eating there again!
The opening hours on the website appear to be out of date. Despite the opening time of 10 p.m., we were told around 8:30 p.m. that we would like to be settled.
In addition, we were refused payment with the EC card because this would only be possible for orders over €20. Since we had a total amount of over €30, I wanted to pay for both dishes and drinks together in order to reach the minimum payment value.
But this was then rejected because the billing had already been done?!?
We were really shocked by this approach, but we didn't dare say anything about it and so we paid in cash.
Since we no longer felt welcome there, we left the restaurant.
So if you want to eat tasty, but quickly and with cash, you're in good hands there.
Very competent, friendly service and a classically stylish, slightly dusty ambience that matches the character of the castle. The card is ambitious and expensive. The aroma is rather weak. Very good saddle of venison, but it could have used a richer sauce. The fishing was not very convincing. Farmed salmon well cooked but hardly seasoned. No sauce, just 2 vegetable purees (carrot and cauliflower), also rather unseasoned.
Very positive: selection of half bottles of wine.
The food is top-notch, with currywurst, Bolognese, and schnitzel! Large portions, and extra Parmesan cheese is also available! Your requests are listened to, AND for the low price, top-notch!
Yesterday we tried the 3 different menus from the small autumn-winter menu. Both the goose leg and the wild boar goulash as well as the sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage were a total delight. The red wine offered with it, Primitivo, tastes excellent😋 Unfortunately you can only order the food and pick it up, but we were still totally satisfied.
