If you are looking for a short trip to India in Hamburg, Bahshah is the perfect place for you. The restaurant is located in the basement of a side street not far from the main train station. A few steps down and you find yourself in a funny mess of guests waiting for a seat or their food to take away or eat on site. The menu has a wide selection. All starters and 3 main courses can be prepared vegan. They are then served in a slightly different way, for example without yoghurt or butter naan. You order at the counter. Payment is only made in CASH and then there is a number to wait for. The food is prepared in the open kitchen and then served on a buffet. The pickup number appears on a small display. The dishes are served on stainless steel trays. For some it seems like being in prison, but it is really authentic because in India, restaurants often serve food exactly like that. By the way, the naan bread that is served comes directly from a tandoor oven, which you can also see in the kitchen. The food tastes really authentic and if you like it spicy, this is the place for you. There is always a vegan version of the typical Indian sweets that are available there. Just ask. 😖

Unfortunately very disappointing. Food and side dishes only lukewarm or sticky when delivered. Taste rather lower third, very little paneer. Wrong dips delivered. No response to emails, not as claimed in the reply. No recommendation.

Food excellent, incredibly friendly staff, although our tired children caused a bit of chaos, all the gentlemen were very helpful and friendly. The bar garden in the beautiful courtyard is also very nice for eating outside.

We can only recommend the restaurant. Very tasty food. Super tasty dishes with delicious, fluffy rice. Add naan bread to absorb the delicious sauce. A medium-hot seasoning is sufficient as it brings out the spices beautifully. We would be happy to come back.

We often picked up food, it was always delicious. Unfortunately, the shop has been closed for months. Nobody knows if they will show up again or if it will stay closed. We would all be happy if they reopened. Thank you 🤩

On a short trip to Hamburg, we stayed at the Hotel Meiendorfer Park, which we cannot recommend, and dined in the evening at the adjoining "Mannat." This Indian restaurant offers homemade Indian cuisine of the finest quality, served by extremely friendly and attentive members of the family who own it. The selection of dishes is very good. People always ask how spicy they want their food (although I believe the "spicy" refers to the tolerance of European palates; Indians prefer spicier food). Given the significant price increases in the restaurant industry, the prices at the "Mannat" are moderate to below average. We really enjoyed eating there and regret not having such a restaurant in our town!
