The location isn't particularly cozy, but it was absolutely delicious! Six of us went there, and every meal was perfect. And the value for money was unbeatable.

We came here on a recommendation, and the food was truly impressive – everything was delicious! Unfortunately, the portions, especially the rice, were very small. After a few spoonfuls, we were done; unfortunately, we weren't satisfied. It's a shame, because with a little more generosity, the overall package would have been perfect. The atmosphere is pleasant – small, but stylish and cozy. It's easy to have a conversation, and the staff were consistently friendly and attentive.

The food is excellent. It's very busy, so you're politely asked not to stay for long. Once you've finished eating, you leave.

The quality is top-notch and the prices are reasonable! The Indian cuisine is impressive, with some of the best food in the city. ​Add to that the oriental atmosphere transports you to dreamy Indian stories – great value for money!

The ambiance is authentic for a snack bar. However, the surroundings don't exactly entice you to drive there. The dishes are served on stainless steel trays. The taste is good, but the quantity is really small – the price/performance ratio isn't right. The staff are friendly. Cash only – it's probably too difficult with cards (and the tax) ;-)

We absolutely love this place and come here regularly for a close-to-authentic Indian food. We think it's No. 1 place to visit when you are in Hamburg and love Indian food. Not only because the prices are affordable and the taste is great. The portions are pretty decent and I love that you don't need to reserve a place in advance. Sometimes it can get very full and loud. But this kind of adds more to the Ambiente. They also make the Panir cheese themselves and it tastes great. I didn't like the butter chicken. It just doesn't taste as an original. But the rest of their disused snacks (in 10 years we're tried them all) are delicious.

One of the most authentic restaurants I know, the prices are pretty reasonable for Hamburg standards (especially next to the main train station). The food I had wasn't spicy enough; I'll have to come back to try something new. The music is great, the walls are well-detailed, the staff is stressed but friendly. Overall, a unique place. I'd come back.

I visited Badshah Restaurant in Hamburg and had a good experience. The food was tasty, especially the curries and naan. The portions were big and the prices were fair.

Really small eatery tucked a stone's throw away from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof. We went on our last day in Hamburg. Comfortable thali meals, easy on the pocket and light on the stomach. Atmosphere reminds you of small Indian restaurants or Dhabas. Do not expect a fine dining experience or some super tasty food, but was definitely worth the buck so no complaints.

This place was a terrible mistake. The food tasted earthy, the kitchen was dirty, and the food was a bit too fast for what I thought was supposed to be fresh food. To be fair, though, the tables and cutlery were clean, and the butter chicken tasted authentic. Never again in my life. The portions were also much too small.

The food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly – except for one blonde cashier who seemed a bit annoyed. Otherwise, everyone was super nice. A young employee with a ponytail even found us a seat right away. The food was delicious, and the prices were also great! Unfortunately, it's quite loud and a bit cramped inside.

A very nice restaurant. A great catering company with creative ideas for the space and the offerings. The food was very good, the price-performance ratio was completely reasonable, the staff were very friendly and accommodating and always made a good impression on the guests. Ambiance is great for both inside and outside. So my full recommendation and an express thank you for the hospitality in your house and A very diverse restaurant attributed to the respective country is excellent in the variety of food and drinks on offer. The price-performance ratio is okay, the employees are very unfriendly, very attentive and always have a good, not fake smile for the guest. The view of the country from the terrace is great and the location by public transport and car is excellent. Large parking areas so that you can also come here with a larger group and enjoy the evening.

Super fast service, very cheap but substandard taste. We ordered chicken do plaza - which was basic , butter chicken which was sweet and does not taste good according to me, some might enjoy it. And chicken biryani which was not good at all. I would not come back even for the low prices.

A very nice Indian restaurant serving authentic and affordable Indian cuisine. The ordering system may seem confusing at first, but it's well worth it. The atmosphere of this rather small restaurant is also very pleasant, as the place has been lovingly designed.

Today (14/07/2025), I tried some Indian Thali with bhatura, and it was the worst experience ever. The chicken tikka that was excessively oily, and while it's a self-service restaurant, the food was brought to us later. The only positive aspect was the price, which was lower compared to other Indian restaurants. However, if the food is of such poor quality, the price should reflect that. As an Indian, I felt disappointed; the taste was not good at all. The mango lassi was the only enjoyable item.

It was really delicious! I went there because of the many positive reviews, and I wasn't disappointed with the food. The prices are fair for what you get. The only (but big!) downside is that you can only pay in cash! And I found the service a bit chaotic; it's really confusing, where and how to pay, with the seating assignment, and where to pick up the food. But I would stop by next time I'm in Hamburg :)

On our last trip, we tried the Thali meal and absolutely loved it very delicious! This time, we went for the Chicken Curry and Biryani. The taste was really good, no complaints there. However, the portion sizes were quite small compared to other Indian restaurants in Europe. As you can see in the images, both the Chicken Curry and Biryani portions were noticeably small. A bit more quantity would have made the experience perfect!

Food was good but not as expected and also the behaviour from those who were on the counter were so rude and the restaurant has self service. Card payment not accepted. They only behave so nice with local German people. They don’t behave good with Indians. Sry to say but you all have to treat everyone equally

It seems cheap at first (€10), but the portions are ultimately extremely small. The taste is average, nothing special. I had the 21 and there was no hint of spiciness. It's okay as a snack, but too little for a main meal and too expensive. The atmosphere is also very unpleasant. Self-service, and cash only.

This is an affordable Indian restaurant right in the middle of the city. They have various choices for thalis.

The kind of feedback we have heard about was truly satisfied. First of all, this restaurant is very near to the busy area of Hamburg train station. We visited today (13 May 2025) and ordered 1. Chhole nature 2 Kadai paneer doll 3. Samosa Out of all, samosa was the best followed by chhole and panner subji. This restaurant is only accepting cash so be aware of. Also, the restaurant has lots of sweets and savories to order. This place is around 35 places so please check once before you walk in. I likes the flexibility to replace rice with roti, bread though I didn't experiment this option. Overall I can visit visit again and specially that this is very near to station as well as serve good food, mixed of veg and non veg.

If you are looking for a short trip to India in Hamburg, Bahshah is the perfect place for you. The restaurant is located in the basement of a side street not far from the main train station. A few steps down and you find yourself in a funny mess of guests waiting for a seat or their food to take away or eat on site. The menu has a wide selection. All starters and 3 main courses can be prepared vegan. They are then served in a slightly different way, for example without yoghurt or butter naan. You order at the counter. Payment is only made in CASH and then there is a number to wait for. The food is prepared in the open kitchen and then served on a buffet. The pickup number appears on a small display. The dishes are served on stainless steel trays. For some it seems like being in prison, but it is really authentic because in India, restaurants often serve food exactly like that. By the way, the naan bread that is served comes directly from a tandoor oven, which you can also see in the kitchen. The food tastes really authentic and if you like it spicy, this is the place for you. There is always a vegan version of the typical Indian sweets that are available there. Just ask. 😖

Hansaplatz stop. Not a tourist spot. There is only Thali, unfortunately the delicious main course is clearly portioned, but iceberg lettuce and yoghurt which I don't need. But that's how it is with Badscha.

May be a good option to people who likes thali's. Any curry you order - you will get a thali. Not spicy at all , not a good option for someone who like spicy food. Washrooms are bad. I have liked only samosa and garlic naan and jalebi in sweet

A 3rd class restaurant, we won't even get a tissue paper in the washroom. They won't accept card, they want only cash and food was very bad, I recommend not to try biryani here if you are an south Indian.

Look this place is not everyone cup of tea (maybe due to fastness of operations), being small and not prettiest design. Yet it provides the best Indian dish at very good price as if you were in India. It’s not for fancy dates but it’s quick good Indian chicken butter and some rice and yogurt with nice Mango Lassi. So well done.

They're serving tasty, fresh, well spiced affordably priced food. The atmosphere can be quite surprising if what you expect is a more restaurant-y vibe, but once you get used to it, it's a great place to eat.

A visit to Badshah is a must on every one of my visits to Hamburg. If you can't or don't want to travel to India to try absolutely authentic food, you should try this! The ambience and hygiene are also absolutely authentic, and that's really not meant in a negative way... Definite tip!

A must-try Indian restaurant when visiting Hamburg. Their meals are incredibly priced for the portion size and the quality of ingredients - everything used was fresh! The home cooked style food is well worth all the wait for a table and is super delish. What we tried: bhindi/palak paneer/matar paneer thali, salted lassi, mango lassi, ras malai Ambience: Soothing Punjabi songs playing in the background adds a nice touch. However, it can get crowded and noisy but trust the vibe! No disappointed faces around because the food is on point. Proximity to the Hbf makes it all the more convenient for a quick bite! Although, I'd be wary of the general crowd near the restaurant.

We went there for dinner last night and had a mixed experience. The toilets are extremely dirty and the faucet doesn't work properly. The portions were quite small (the butter chicken had around 7-8 small strips of meat) but varied. The operator mistakenly gave us a plate of Garlic Naan and was unsure whether it was for us, but ultimately left it. When we had taken a few pieces, he came back and took the plate away from us. Overall it tasted good, that's for sure.

The atmosphere was always very simple, the tables were often not completely clean and the shop was very busy, but the food was good. Unfortunately, the food has also gotten worse in recent years. The curries, sauces and dhal have become significantly more watery and at the same time the prices have risen. I know it's difficult to make good food in large portions for a low price. However, the quality of the food and the price-performance ratio were always the distinguishing feature of Badshah. I would even pay more to have the old quality again. Since this is no longer the case, I now prefer to go to other Indian restaurants in the area.

Nice Indian Dhaba style experience right in the middle of Hamburg. Their food is very home-style at economical prices, and they have a big variety of Thalis. I go there, almost every week, to try one of their Thalis. Can totally recommend it!
