Delicious, cheap, quick and big portions. Its an order at the counter style so no service which is primarily a minus because of dirty tables but otherwise all good. Really delicious

unfortunately unhygienic. I often had hair and once had a wasp in my food...

Super small, super full, super tasty!!! You should definitely try it if you like Indian food.

We were there the evening before around 5 p.m. and all the tables were occupied, it was busy. We looked around the narrow corridor for a bit and a table became available where we could sit down. The patience paid off, the food tasted incredibly good, the prices were reasonable and the quantities were just right. It tastes good and has a variety of spices. Rice, a small salad and 2 pieces of naan bread were included. We only had to wait about 10-15 minutes after ordering. Despite self-service, I give 5 stars for the service because you know that when you come here and it was quick and well organized. I only have to deduct 2 stars for the ambience because it is narrow and busy. But that doesn't matter to us, if there were fewer tables we wouldn't have gotten one.

Authentic, fast, delicious. It's all pretty straightforward, you order at the counter, get a number and look for a table. The food is served as is often the case in India and Asia. The samosas and okra vegetables are vegetarian, and the butter chicken was also good. There's also naan and rice for under €10. Will go again.

The restaurant is very small and is always full, so you have to be quick to get a seat. The food is very delicious and my Indian friends say they are original. My recommendation is that you order Jalfrazie, which is very good, there is hardly any difference between chicken and lamb, so I would go for the cheapest, meaning chicken. There is hardly any service as you have to order at the counter, pick up the food and then pay at the counter.

Very tasty authentic food at a low price. Absolutely fair. It was pretty busy, but luckily we managed to get a spot. Self-service. Negative point: Unfortunately, both waitresses at the counter were incredibly unfriendly, something I've rarely experienced.

It is a shame that this place doesn't have owners, who would renovate it, because the food is excellent. Their Palak Paneer dish is my favorite, and the mango lassi is yummy. Please clean the sitting area up and find a better solution at the food counter and for the restroom, dear Badshah owners!!

Taste was good and not expensive

One of the best Indian Restaurant in Hamburg. The food is very good and the most autenthic, there are plentumy of vegetarian options. The sweets are also good, I suggest laddoo and gulab jamon, these are just great. Unfortunately for me the restaurant is always full at any hour, so there is the possibility that you have to wait to get the table, but they work really fast, so the waiting time will not take too much. I super suggest this restaurant 🤗

It is a snack-like restaurant. It has something of a cantonal atmosphere. You order and pay directly at the cash register, get a beeper and can pick up your food when it's your turn. A bit like being in prison, the tablet is made of stainless steel, with lots of hollows for feasting. The taste is amazing! It's like a little trip to India. I can only recommend it if you want to eat authentically. Price-performance top. 👍

Rather simple restaurant with no real service. But that doesn't detract from the quality of the food, everything I've tried so far has been good and absolutely inexpensive - so if you have no problem picking up your own food from the counter and like to sit in a crowd or buy something to take away, this is the place for you in good hands. Everything is cafeteria style, but it tastes very good

It has to be the best and most authentic Indian restaurant I have been to in Germany. A 5 minute walk from Hamburg HBF. The food is delicious, staff is friendly and the prices are more than fair. It's value for money. I had Chole Bhature, Chole with Naan and Mango Lassi. They also have a wide variety of sweets.

I had their thali, which was filling, delicious, and great value for money. The portion sizes are generous, the service is unfussy yet prompt. Prices are approx €10 for an average main meal. The rich flavours and affordable prices make it a fantastic spot for Indian cuisine. Their thali is perfect for trying a bit of everything, offering a great introduction to Indian flavours in Germany.

This small and well-attended snack bar is my favorite place for Indian food in Hamburg, a small idyll in an unfortunately very disadvantaged part of the city. The food comes on these little metal trays that are reminiscent of an American prison. Is that how they serve it in India? Definitely a striking feature for this restaurant, they are definitely practical. Because I love eating here so much, I ordered two portions, one of classic butter chicken and one of okra curry, simply heavenly. Mango lassi to cool down. The best way to pass the time when you are waiting for your train near the train station.

Delicious, cheap, cozy, fast - all one could want

Very small shop with little space. The food was okay for that. Unfortunately not as sharp as stated. And the shop owner wanted to get rid of us quickly so that the next people could get our space. Another plus point: it was very quick.

Good place for fast food. Superb kadi chawal and chana bhatura, samosa chaat. These are special here. Must taste.

Cheap and authentic Indian food with a real homemade taste

I have been a regular at Badshah for many years. While the restaurant used to be more of an insider tip, it is now well known throughout the city. However, that doesn't change the fact that the food is still very tasty and the price-performance ratio is still one of the best in the city, despite rising prices. The atmosphere takes some getting used to and the cashiers at the front can sometimes be a bit grim. But you mainly come here for the food and that's just great. Therefore clear recommendation!

Besides the space being a little cramped I have nothing else to complain about Badshah. Loved the Chole Bhature, Thalis of Chicken Jalfrezi and Chicken Tikka as well as Paneer. Mango Lassi is a must have here as well. Highly recommend for those who even have an hour of layover at Hamburg HBF while travelling elsewhere.

Food unfortunately very good, so that the staff didn't put any afford in the matters of manners at all, super unfriendly. Also not wearing any masks, and paying by card was not possible.

The place is okay, but not something that you'd like to go to when you want to eat with friends, it's a tiny place to go, sit, eat and leave. Too crowded always, and everyone will be staring at you when you're at a table eating your food, it feels like a telepathic communication saying "eat fast and leave" So, food is okay, not the place.

Well actually the best Indian Hambkrgs, super authentic, very cheap, fast service and good portions! The ambience isn't the nicest & the service isn't the friendliest but hey, it's more of a bistro and that's more than great! Be sure to order the mango lassi as a drink! My recommendation: The curry with okra & the samosa!

We got the tip from family members. It's really full here. Prices are good, we liked the mixed pakoras and butter chicken, curry chicken and ordered some extra sweet chutney. The staff behind the cash is really friendly even there's so much stress. The sweet brown cake is fine too.

If you want to treat yourself to authentic, cheap, incredibly delicious Indian food, then you've come to the right place. I almost always order butter chicken, samosa and mango lassie here. But all the dishes I've tried here have all tasted good. Of course the location isn't the best, but the food here is really, really good. Just always come with someone and everything will be fine. Another minus is that you can only pay in cash here. So, always remember to have enough cash with you, otherwise there are several ATMs at the main station.

Erst dachten wir es hätte zu. Es ist von weitem sehr unauffällig und in einer Straße in der man nachts als Frau nicht unbedingt alleine durch gehen will. Drin aber brummt es vor Geschäftigkeit. Das Essen ist sehr lecker, supergünstig und authentisch. Das Mangolassi göttlich. Für uns ein Muss beim nächsten Hamburgbesuch.

It is an authentic restaurant that also conveys a bit of the Indian "hustle and bustle". Anyone who can offer a meal with 6 components (soup, salad, freshly baked naan, rice, yogurt sauce and main course) for EUR 9 is dependent on selling a large number of meals. The length of stay is therefore “limited”. Otherwise an incredible experience. The naan alone is incomparable and freshly baked for every guest. One of my favorite restaurants in Hamburg, although it has more of a “bistro character”. For a romantic dinner for two? Depends on what you mean by romance.

The food was really delicious and reminded me of India. Although the shahi paneer was too sweet otherwise I ordered Chole Bhature, Samosa and Shahi Paneer thali. I really loved their samosas they were crispy and the filling was also delicious. Chutney was also very nice. I also bought their Gajar Barfi they also tasted nice. About cleanliness and the atmosphere I would say it was not very clean also I felt a bit suffocated as the place is really small. Otherwise the food was really nice. Don't forget to order your mango lassi it was refreshing The food was really tasty and reminded me of India. Although the Shahi Paneer was otherwise too sweet, I ordered Chole Bhature, Samosa and Shahi Paneer Thali. I really liked their samosas, they were crispy and the filling was delicious too. The chutney was also very good. I also bought their Gajar Barfi which also tasted good. As far as cleanliness and atmosphere go, I would say it wasn't very clean, plus I felt a bit suffocated as the place is really small. Otherwise the food was really good. Amazing authentic flavourful food that everyone can enjoy.

The food is very basic. The cost is less because of the quality of food. The older lady at the counter is extremely rude and ill mannered, as if they are serving you for free. I won't suggest anybody to go there. Seriously, the customer deserves better and if you really don't like the job then don't do it. I would have never written this review if it happened once because a bad day can happen to anybody, we are all human. But it has happened thrice and I'm done with the place. If you can't do anything good the least you can do is being kind.

Wow what an amazing find. We found this place accidentally, this place is located very close to the railway station. The food was authentic Indian dhaba style super tasty. The flavours were amazing with generous portion sizes. The restaurant operates on cash only so don't forget to bring in cash. The restaurant was first come first serve and self-service. Will definitely recommend this place for its tasty food + in budget.

Best resturant not in whole Germany .It was fully crowded because prices of food are so reasonable .Veg Thali 8 Euros ,Chicken thali 9 Euros ,Samosa chat only in 4 euros and mango lassi big glass in 2.5 Euros .No one is giving such a good quality and so authentic Indian food in this price .Staff is quite humble and nice .If you are in hamburg then must try this resturant .Highly recommended .
