I can't really judge how authentic it is. And you certainly don't come here for the location; the decor and cleanliness are really just the bare minimum, and the neighborhood isn't exactly the best either. But the food is delicious, arrives quickly, and is very inexpensive. If you're only looking at the food, I don't think you'll find this kind of value for money anywhere else. It's not exactly a fancy place for a night out, but if you're already at the train station, it's a great spot to grab a quick and tasty meal or something to go. I'd go back anytime! :)

A cozy vibrant restaurant with local vibes, full with customers waiting for their turns, eating food and enjoying, have large varieties of veg and non veg options plus snacks like pakora Samosas

The food, service, and prices were excellent, but the portions are rather small, so if you're feeling hungrier, you should order an appetizer. The onion rings and the mango lassi are definitely recommended.

This small Indian restaurant serves food just like in India. It's not adapted to European tastes. Everything tastes fantastic. What a joy to eat here! Everything is freshly prepared. No cream. The staff are a well-coordinated team. The naan is delicious and crispy. The rice is also very fragrant. We'll be back! Price: good and reasonable.

We were two persons and first it’s very tough to get any place to sit and after that they refused to pay by card only cash if you have no cash you can’t get anything and after that samosa are full of oil as much as they can So, I never want to go there no more.

The atmosphere is appropriate for the place and the food tastes very nice with many Indian as well as pseudo-indian dishes being available. We had no trouble getting a table for 4 people in 2 separate visits. The food is unfortunately normal priced for Hamburg.

I had been to this restaurant which is located close to the train station and is walkable. Unfortunately me and my friend did not dine in or buy anything from there because we did not like the vibe inside. One of the guy inside didn't even bother to greet us and when we asked if it is open he nods his head. However we did not feel comfortable not sure why and we had to leave to look for another one.

Not so satisfying experience. I can cook better food at home. The side dishes like samosas were pretty good. That's it. Congested space so not enough space to sit there.

I don't really want to go there anymore. The atmosphere is too hectic for me, and the ambiance is rather depressing. It's not exactly cheap either. However, the food is divine, so I just can't seem to leave Badshah. Every time I'm in Hamburg, I eat there. Despite everything.

Very authentic food, amazing taste and big selection of meals and sweets. The mango lassi is delicious. Price is very reasonable and more on the cheap side. The staff, and owner are very friendly. We have been going to this place for years and absolutely love it. We love to get samosas and naans for takeout and freeze them at home to reheat them whenever we feel like it. They are so delicious. The overall atmosphere is very nice and friendly. Just make sure to not come at peak time if you want to dine-in, since you would have to wait a bit to get a seat.

The ambiance is authentic for a snack bar. However, the surroundings don't exactly entice you to drive there. The dishes are served on stainless steel trays. The taste is good, but the quantity is really small – the price/performance ratio isn't right. The staff are friendly. Cash only – it's probably too difficult with cards (and the tax) ;-)

We absolutely love this place and come here regularly for a close-to-authentic Indian food. We think it's No. 1 place to visit when you are in Hamburg and love Indian food. Not only because the prices are affordable and the taste is great. The portions are pretty decent and I love that you don't need to reserve a place in advance. Sometimes it can get very full and loud. But this kind of adds more to the Ambiente. They also make the Panir cheese themselves and it tastes great. I didn't like the butter chicken. It just doesn't taste as an original. But the rest of their disused snacks (in 10 years we're tried them all) are delicious.

One of the most authentic restaurants I know, the prices are pretty reasonable for Hamburg standards (especially next to the main train station). The food I had wasn't spicy enough; I'll have to come back to try something new. The music is great, the walls are well-detailed, the staff is stressed but friendly. Overall, a unique place. I'd come back.

Really small eatery tucked a stone's throw away from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof. We went on our last day in Hamburg. Comfortable thali meals, easy on the pocket and light on the stomach. Atmosphere reminds you of small Indian restaurants or Dhabas. Do not expect a fine dining experience or some super tasty food, but was definitely worth the buck so no complaints.

The food is delicious. A very large selection of dishes, including finger food. It's always very busy.

Delicious food, special samosa.

This place was a terrible mistake. The food tasted earthy, the kitchen was dirty, and the food was a bit too fast for what I thought was supposed to be fresh food. To be fair, though, the tables and cutlery were clean, and the butter chicken tasted authentic. Never again in my life. The portions were also much too small.

Very reasonably priced and delicious. The ambiance is authentic and perfect for a culinary journey to India. If you have a longer layover at Hamburg Central Station, we highly recommend eating at Badshah Restaurant.

Don't be put off by the neighborhood and the restaurant's interior. Once you're ready to pick up your food, you'll forget the world around you and enjoy a delicious meal. An added bonus is that all cultures come together here, enjoying truly delicious food together, table after table.

The food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly – except for one blonde cashier who seemed a bit annoyed. Otherwise, everyone was super nice. A young employee with a ponytail even found us a seat right away. The food was delicious, and the prices were also great! Unfortunately, it's quite loud and a bit cramped inside.

A very nice restaurant. A great catering company with creative ideas for the space and the offerings. Ambiance is great for both inside and outside. So my full recommendation and an express thank you for the hospitality in your house and A very diverse restaurant attributed to the respective country is excellent in the variety of food and drinks on offer. The price-performance ratio is okay, the employees are very unfriendly, very attentive and always have a good, not fake smile for the guest. The view of the country from the terrace is great and the location by public transport and car is excellent. Large parking areas so that you can also come here with a larger group and enjoy the evening.

Super fast service, very cheap but substandard taste. We ordered chicken do plaza - which was basic , butter chicken which was sweet and does not taste good according to me, some might enjoy it. And chicken biryani which was not good at all. I would not come back even for the low prices.

A very nice Indian restaurant serving authentic and affordable Indian cuisine. The ordering system may seem confusing at first, but it's well worth it. The atmosphere of this rather small restaurant is also very pleasant, as the place has been lovingly designed.

Today (14/07/2025), I tried some Indian Thali with bhatura, and it was the worst experience ever. The chicken tikka that was excessively oily, and while it's a self-service restaurant, the food was brought to us later. The only positive aspect was the price, which was lower compared to other Indian restaurants. However, if the food is of such poor quality, the price should reflect that. As an Indian, I felt disappointed; the taste was not good at all. The mango lassi was the only enjoyable item.

It was really delicious! I went there because of the many positive reviews, and I wasn't disappointed with the food. The prices are fair for what you get. The only (but big!) downside is that you can only pay in cash! And I found the service a bit chaotic; it's really confusing, where and how to pay, with the seating assignment, and where to pick up the food. But I would stop by next time I'm in Hamburg :)

On our last trip, we tried the Thali meal and absolutely loved it very delicious! This time, we went for the Chicken Curry and Biryani. The taste was really good, no complaints there. However, the portion sizes were quite small compared to other Indian restaurants in Europe. As you can see in the images, both the Chicken Curry and Biryani portions were noticeably small. A bit more quantity would have made the experience perfect!

Food was good but not as expected and also the behaviour from those who were on the counter were so rude and the restaurant has self service. Card payment not accepted. They only behave so nice with local German people. They don’t behave good with Indians. Sry to say but you all have to treat everyone equally
