Today we were invited to lunch and coffee for a birthday party. The journey there was a bit bumpy, but it was more than worth it. The food was excellent, as was the service and the ambiance with the fireplace room. All in all, highly recommended.

The name is quite misleading, because the restaurant is certainly not an emperor. The waitress tried her best to explain, but couldn't console us about the bland taste of the admittedly huge schnitzel. They deliberately didn't add any seasoning so that each guest could do it themselves according to their taste. Hello? You could add salt and pepper to the fried potatoes and mushrooms yourself, but it was difficult to season the schnitzel and the breading. A little bacon and onion would definitely have benefited the fried potatoes. The dish was also carelessly prepared, not a green stalk, not a piece of lettuce, nothing. And for that 21 euros, man, man, man.

A very nice atmosphere and fantastic food, with particularly good and very funny service 😃. Soljanka, schnitzel, brawn and trout (we didn't eat anything else) are highly recommended, as with nuts.

Nice little place. I stumbled upon it by chance as a tourist. The food was very good. Good German cuisine. The service was very friendly and always kept an eye on the table. Highly recommended.

During our stay in the Harz, we spontaneously ate there on May 4th, 2025. I knew the “economy” from my childhood days and was last there over 40 years ago. Of course, a lot has changed. We were warmly welcomed even though we hadn't made a reservation. It may be that it was easier to get a table because we were in the Harz outside of the peak tourist season. Nevertheless, we received a very friendly welcome and were able to choose a table. You have to take some time with you as the food is freshly prepared. We each had a starter and the Cordon Bleu with fried potatoes. It was very tasty and plentiful. Hopefully we can go there again on our next vacation in the Harz. So if you like good home cooking, “Auf dem Rübchen” is the right place for you. We'll definitely be back. Thank you to the entire team and please keep it up for a very long time.

Very inexpensive and good cuisine

We were there for Christmas dinner today and unfortunately totally disappointed. The food was oversalted and inedible... more plates than food, carelessly prepared. And for 24 euros... half raw goose breast. As compensation, the dessert was free, which didn't improve the mood.

Went on a bike tour and stopped there. Were not disappointed again. Tasted great, everything was freshly prepared.
