I can't understand how this restaurant can call itself a scavenger hunt. I had a schnitzel that was quite unseasoned and prepared in the deep fryer. Conclusion: greasy and tasteless. For a Schitzelhaus I expect more quality and more passion when preparing schnitzel.

One star for the friendly waitress. The food was a complete disappointment. In my opinion, the schnitzels and sauces are finished products. The schnitzels seem to come from the deep fryer. As soon as you enter the restaurant there is no smell of food. Which surprised me. After ordering, food is on the table in under 10 minutes. Which is almost impossible to achieve when prepared fresh. We're definitely not coming back!!!

Actually we can't give a star...Unfortunately we can't rate the food. Yesterday we stood in the restaurant with 8 people and were turned away despite having reserved a table because there was probably a mistake. There was an apology... but that didn't really help us. We wanted to have a leisurely dinner before going to the theater. Luckily there was a restaurant in the neighborhood that helped us very quickly and professionally. We cannot recommend this behavior here

Unfortunately, you won't find delicious handmade schnitzels in this house. When you get your order after about 5 minutes when the house is full, it makes you think a bit. And the proof came quickly after the first bite. The taste, appearance and consistency of the food is more reminiscent of canteen food. Fast, greasy and so-so in taste. A cranberry sauce was bursting with sauce thickener and was more reminiscent of pudding. The staff tried hard and tried to be friendly. However, one had the impression that quick processing was more desirable. The only plus point was - the drinks came within a very short time

Portions are good, but the quality of the food is below average for a restaurant experience. It didn't please my taste buds. Chicken schintzel consists of pressed industrial chicken pieces. The chicken schnitzels are not made here but come from the frozen section in the wholesale market. What a disappointment. It's a shame that the Schnitzelhaus isn't what it seems.

Super unfriendly woman at reception. We asked her if there was still a place. She then looked us up and down critically and said no. Almost all tables were still free. I have never been treated so condescendingly and arrogantly by a service person. You can also politely reject someone, this way was simply disrespectful. Absolutely not recommended the restaurant.

Food was really just mediocre. In addition, we were only given 2 hours with 14 people, despite reservations. Dessert was only allowed to be ordered because it was timed to fit. We don't go there anymore.

Quite good food that does what it says on the outside. The portions are reasonable and the quality of the schnitzels is good, although not outstanding. Overall a solid experience, but with room for small improvements. Maybe a little sauce would have been good for the fries and croquettes. The salad beforehand started things off very well.

Schnitzel either from pork or turkey, unfortunately only deep fryer, lots of marinade, little meat.

Unfortunately we waited outside and when it opened it said it was fully booked.

Only the reception leaves a lot to be desired, too small since everyone is at the door at 3 p.m. and only check in then, we stood in the rain for 45 minutes.

Typical German cuisine. In my opinion, the predominance on the menu lies in the schnitzel theme, which can be freely chosen for each dish between pork, turkey, veal and vegetarian, which I would like to say positively. Service is great and you are served quickly regardless of whether the restaurant is full or empty. (No long waiting times :) ) The food, however, is not always consistently good. On a good day it's upper class and if you have a bad day it's just middle class, which fortunately doesn't happen that often or at least there wasn't anything negative to report on our last visits. In Wernigerode one of the best restaurants where the price-performance ratio is still right

Friendly welcome and a nice, clean restaurant. On the menu you will find almost forgotten dishes (e.g. cabbage rolls, Königsberger Klops and veal liver... etc. There are also various schnitzel dishes without meat for vegetarians (I'm not one!!). Everything is well organized. Food/drink menus are already there in the form of a placemat. Oil, vinegar, pepper and salt mill are ready in a box. The service is friendly and competent and we were able to order without having to wait long. After we ordered we didn't have to wait long for the food because it came quickly. The food is very tasty and plentiful... with extra salad plates in advance (you rarely get them anymore). Everything was freshly prepared. A great performance from the team. Anyone else complaining here... There will still be times when we remember such beautiful moments because the catering industry is dwindling, there are no successors, no staff can be found and restaurants have to close. We appreciate your work and are grateful for every restaurant that grits its teeth.....to give everything for its guests.

Ordered a table and had a time slot, in that time slot we were there and the table was gone😏. Maybe other communication and also say on the phone what time you have to be there. There are better addresses here in Wernigerode and with a lot of luck you can find something good even without a reservation where the evening was still a success.

Food was excellent and appropriate for the price, which cannot be said about the accommodation. Very small rooms and a small bathroom with no shelves. It's fine for one night, but not recommended for longer. We were greeted by a room that was 28°C (in autumn), although it was just 20°C outside and there was no air conditioning. I don't want to know what happens in midsummer. Breakfast was ok. Coffee in thermos cups might not be the best idea either.

I can recommend the old distillery. The service is quick and friendly. The food tastes delicious. There are mainly schnitzels in many variations. Other dishes are also available. You don't have to wait long for it either. You can relax in a cozy atmosphere outside and inside. The old vaulted area is particularly interesting if you have to go to the toilet. It contains old stones. It's worth seeing. We felt very comfortable there. You may want to reserve seats in advance as the old distillery is very popular.

Great service and good food! I think schnitzel was deep fried, I prefer pan fried. But the meat was nice and tender and the sauerkraut and sauce were also tasty. So recommended.

We tried the restaurant during our short vacation. You can save yourself. Fried potatoes were barely fried and not very seasoned, but the baked steak was fried for so long that it was almost impossible to cut even with a steak knife. Our family's other orders also left something to be desired (almost raw onions on the liver, trout that was fried for too long). The waitress asked how the food was, but didn't really want to hear it, which was evident from her reaction... She was certainly "annoyed" because the gentleman at the next table also complained about the cold fried potatoes and then received another bowl of cold potatoes. All in all, poor value for money.

I'll keep it short... we had dinner there yesterday with 4 people. Two of them had the schnitzel with hollandaise sauce. Both woke up last night with very bad stomach cramps and had to vomit at times. If the basic requirement (food that doesn't poison) is not met, then I really can't give more than one star... Furthermore, both the schnitzel and the sauces all seem like convenience. Do you cook your own food here or just warm it up? The service was attentive and friendly.

Very good restaurant. There were still free seats at 4:40 p.m., but after that the place gets more and more crowded. If you can, you should make a reservation. Apparently this only works for two slots (around 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.). The service is nice and takes care of you right away. The schnitzel portions can be adjusted (200g or 400g), but 200g is completely sufficient for normal hunger. Price-performance is great!

Unfortunately there is always a very long waiting time! The ambience also suffers. Little communication, totally annoying. However, the schnitzel is very high quality and tasty - but it can't compensate for that.

Unfortunately I have to say that the flair of a restaurant is missing. For me it's more about mass production. I don't remember getting my food so quickly. I had to look for the salad in the small bowl; the breading was twice as thick as the schnitzel. Very bland in taste. Price-performance doesn't fit in any way. There was one positive aspect: the staff was friendly.

Service and ambience were very good. The schnitzel came out of the deep fryer and was very dry, but hot. The salad was not freshly prepared and was already wilted. The cabbage roll had no taste and was thawed from frozen. Our roulade wasn't even properly thawed yet. We were annoyed. Maybe the cook used to be good. There was probably no trained chef at work here on September 6th, 2024. My wife literally cooks 1000 times better. It's a shame, we were hungry

We ate schnitzel there, which tasted very good. We got a place there without a reservation, but maybe you should make a reservation just to be on the safe side. Top restaurant, everything was great, highly recommended. :)

Luckily we had a reservation - the restaurant was very full and had a good volume :-) You need a little patience to be able to order/pay. The food, however, makes up for the little test of patience - it's worth the wait. Our order was super hot and extremely tasty. It's also nice that you can choose whether the schnitzel is pork/chicken/veal and the size (200g or 400g). The fries we chose were sensationally delicious! Thank you, we will come back next visit.

A schnitzel house with good home cooking and normal prices. The service staff is very friendly and looked after us well. The food tasted good and was nicely prepared. The courtyard is very nice, if you have the choice, you should sit outside. It is quite loud inside, especially when larger groups are eating and talking, rather than when they are alone in the world. When it comes to schnitzel dishes, you can choose between pork, chicken or a vegetarian schnitzel alternative.

An exclusive restaurant with very friendly service in a very nice atmosphere. We have never had such delicious food as quickly as we did here. The 400g schnitzel was on point, the side dishes were fresh and crunchy. It's not the last time we've been here, that's for sure. Thank you for the nice break.

We were there with a dog and a small child. We were greeted very friendly and served straight away. First there was water for the dog and then for us too. The food was very tasty. Keep it up and we'll be happy to come back.

My experiences were as follows: With small children at the table with strangers to eat. Then there would probably have been an opportunity to stop there. We refused. Everyone knows that it won't work with the food and the small children at the table with strangers. Otherwise there was no room for families that day. Strange behavior. We then had a bourgeois meal two streets away. My rating is subjective and without any intention of harm or slander.

We were out in the old town today and had dinner here. The service was super friendly. The food was on the table after a few minutes. As a result, the schnitzels were not freshly prepared, but from the deep fryer. The taste is not that great if you know what a good schnitzel should taste like. Too bad.

The schnitzels were good. Unfortunately not the sauce. No more fried potatoes is somehow not possible. Especially not when there are only fries or fried potatoes anyway. The service was nice but forgetful.

The menu promises a lot, it doesn't look too bad on the plate, but the meat was tough, the sauce was tough and the leek was bland. The dumplings were never homemade. It's a shame it looked so promising.

Unfortunately, at 12 sharp, a tour group was already waiting in front of the restaurant. I sat down at a table for two. After I was ignored as a single guest, I left again. Nobody was interested, so I left my money at another restaurant.

During a short vacation in Wernigerode we also stopped for dinner at the Old Distillery. The service was very friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious, the restaurant was beautifully decorated and the beer garden where we sat was pleasantly beautiful and quietly located in the backyard. We would be happy to come back when we visit our relatives in Wernigerode again.

The likely housekeeper at the entrance seems very unfriendly, you get the feeling that every guest is too much for her, she can't even smile. The seasoned meat was only from a can and only baked with cheese and finished, the Worchester sauce was very good. The beef cheeks were very good and tasty, but unfortunately they had the same sauce as my husband's game dish, only my sauce had a little more wine in it. We paid a good €75 for 2 meals and 1 seasoned meat and 2 juices. For this price, you can also make your own seasoned meat and with veal and each dish should also have its own sauce. Smaller inns sometimes offer better quality seasoned meat and a friendlier housekeeper/restaurant management.

Well located on the shopping street

A bit further down the Breite Strasse, this Schnitzel restaurant offers very good quality dishes. Service is friendly and thoughtful. Very nice, cosy interior and sunny terrace at the backside of the restaurant (not visible from the street). Also recommended for families and groups.

Were there for lunch today. The beef roulade was a dream, the best I have ever eaten in a restaurant. My daughter is 2 years old and her kapü was delicious, even she ate the salad and my husband's schnitzel was so tender. Deserved 5 stars for everything. Can be highly recommended

We had booked in advance to be on the safe side. Service very accommodating. The food was extremely tasty and is clearly recommended, although as in the whole of Breite Straße the price was slightly higher due to tourism. We had veal schnitzel, Gutsherrenschnitzel and the next day we had beef roulade.

A nice restaurant from the outside, which unfortunately doesn't reflect the service and food. Long waiting time to be served after being told you need a moment to decide what to eat. It is not recommended to use Worcestershire sauce as it is stored in the blazing sun. And don't forget, despite all the changes, I left out the salad and paid 1 euro for the Hollandaise schnitzel. In the end, I waited another 20 minutes for a condition to pay, which the man was then allowed to search for himself! All in all, you can eat there, but you don't have to.

Got schnitzel which came after a few minutes. The food is not made from scratch and was tasteless. The fritters were dark and miserable. The salad and Pina Colada were good.

Food was great. Soljanka was great and the hollandise schnitzel was also very good. The downside was the waitress who first wanted to take the food order after a few minutes and then asked her not to actually get it, and then came back a few moments later to politely direct her away again. After that, no one came for a long time... even after we had eaten, no one asked if they wanted another drink (it was only over 30°). All in all, very good food. Service could be improved.

BEER GARDEN was and is always an experience. The place was well chosen. The visit here wasn't the big problem, but rather how the evening meal went here and how overwhelmed it was. Select arrival. Eat full or not, not a good atmosphere. THE guest wants to spend a nice evening. Eat, drink and have a good time. AGREEMENT DONE. Unfortunately not necessarily do it again FOOD WAS OK, had the opportunity to be even better
