Very tasty food. The portions are generous, too. The staff is friendly, and the kids' dishes are great too!

I absolutely do not recommend it. Thin schnitzels consisting mostly of breading or very old potatoes as an ingredient of the dish. For the restaurant price, you get food like from a second-rate canteen. A plus is the lack of stomach sensations.

The food was very tasty and I think it's great that you have a large selection even as a vegetarian! The portions are large.

We were at the Schnitzelhaus during asparagus season in May. The restaurant was relatively empty for Friday lunchtime, we ate inside, but there is also a beer garden in the courtyard. Unfortunately, the service wasn't very friendly and wasn't very attentive. The asparagus was relatively hard, but the schnitzel tasted very good. It was okay to eat there once.

We ate there on May 8th, 2025. From the outside we thought Schnitzelhaus was okay, but we were absolutely positively surprised. We hadn't made a reservation, but we were greeted very friendly and shown to the table. The restaurant is decorated completely differently than you would expect from a schnitzel house. The toilets are very clean, I think that says a thing or two about a restaurant. The furnishings are very modern and an appealing ambience is created. The staff was attentive and friendly not only when entering the restaurant, but throughout the entire time. The food also tasted very good. We had stuffed cabbage and a neck steak with ham, cranberries and cheese gratinated. Since I had the neck steak, I can say that you could taste all the components. There was even an extra knife with my dish. All in all, we were very positively surprised in all respects and would not have expected it when we stood in front of the restaurant.

Very good cuisine and beautifully centrally located in the old town of Wernigerode. The reception and service is friendly and quick. The kitchen offers something for everyone and it tastes very good. We recommend calling and making a reservation in advance. Our meal there was well attended.

Just had dinner there. A new waitress was trained, she was really friendly, courteous, very hard-working and did a very good job. Unfortunately the head waitress behaved very badly, very unfriendly and harsh towards the staff and also towards the customers, not a single smile and conceited... no idea why. Comments like "I'm not interested in the chef" and "these untrained staff laughing loudly" echo through the entire dining room. I've never experienced anything like that. Food was good but overall, not a place I would want to go to again. I come from a management position in the catering industry myself and treating someone so badly in the middle of a full restaurant is inexcusable. I'm shocked. Sad. You can only shake your head. I can't recommend it more...

If you are looking for a customer-friendly restaurant with a quiet atmosphere, great staff, delicious cuisine or beautifully presented dessert, you have come to the right place. The prices are fair for the portions and comparable to other restaurants. If you think that there is only schnitzel, you are wrong. The menu also includes dishes such as goulash, liver, chicken breast fillet and fish, as well as two vegan dishes and the option to get all schnitzels as a meatless alternative. I personally find this very progressive and integrates the needs of different people. The acoustics are very pleasant, so that even a busy restaurant is pleasant and not too loud. A clear recommendation from me 😊

The two of us spontaneously went there and luckily got a place even without a reservation. We had the Jägerschnitzel and the schnitzel with hollandaise. Both with croquettes. The food was very good! Everything prepared to perfection. The dressing on the salad was also delicious! Despite the fact that it was very busy, the service was also great and everything went smoothly. We'll definitely come by again.

We reserved a table by phone, which was good. The restaurant was well filled on a Tuesday. The food was ok (but we can do cabbage rolls better ourselves, it's not an art). The service staff were busy and still nice and friendly. You can visit once, but we wouldn't eat there again, there are nicer restaurants in Wernigerode.

We didn't have a reservation and asked for a table for two people with a stroller. The staff had probably seen us outside. Was completely ignored when asked and other guests were simply given priority (who also didn't have a reservation). In the end there were no tables left. I'm pretty disappointed with how some guests are treated.

We had a reservation and got a nice table. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy. The service staff is very friendly and accommodating. The menu offers a wide selection. Everything is delicious and freshly prepared. We had a lovely evening with delicious food. Highly recommended!

I can't understand how this restaurant can call itself Schnitzelhaus. I had a schnitzel that was quite unseasoned and prepared in the deep fryer. Conclusion: greasy and tasteless. For a Schitzelhaus I expect more quality and more passion when preparing schnitzel.

You should call in advance and reserve a table. However, the reserved table is only reserved for a certain time slot, then you have to make room for the next guests. The food came quickly and the service was attentive. The schnitzel was okay, but not as good as you would expect from a schnitzel restaurant.

Very large portions of food are served at a reasonable price. The quality of the dishes, including game goulash and Brockenschnitzel, tasted good. The service always had a good saying in store and really rounded off our visit.

We were lucky and got a table without a reservation. The restaurant is modernly furnished. The service is absolutely good. Very friendly welcome, even throughout the evening. We chose the Brockenschnitzel 200 grams. It was very tasty and quite enough. The fries were also very tasty, I've never had them before. We really enjoy coming back here.

Old distillery, but rethought! Modern furnishings, yet rustic flair. The selection of dishes on offer and the quality is top. The service staff is very attentive and the service is super quick. All in all we are very satisfied. For hotel guests: Breakfast is also offered here. Here too, the selection and service leave nothing to be desired! We would be happy to come back.

I've been here several times and would love to come back at any time, I've never been disappointed. The food is incredibly delicious, the service is great and the toilets are clean. I'm already looking forward to the next time!

Schnitzel in different variations, all variations also vegan, service very nice, ambience not quite that...

Looking for a nice beer garden, we ended up on the outdoor terrace of the old distillery. It's nice to sit there and drink your beer. The Hasseröder Rubin was delicious, unfortunately that couldn't be said about the food. We have rarely eaten so badly. The potato rosti with mushrooms and onions we ordered was swimming in a huge puddle of oil. Apparently frozen food had been thrown into the deep fryer and not degreased at all. We needed several napkins to dry it out. The small side salad was unremarkable, but okay. The whole thing was definitely not worth the price. The service wasn't overwhelming and, to be on the safe side, we didn't even ask if we liked it. If you just want to drink a beer, this is a good place for you. If you want to eat out, we would prefer other restaurants.

Yes...I recommend this place for people who want to eat a real, delicious schnitzel.

Quaint & rustic, very nice schnitzel dishes

The schnitzel was well made, the Lucull hollandaise was made from Tetra, and the hunter's sauce was also underwhelming. There was also an outdated online menu, which meant we couldn't eat the dishes we had chosen in advance. Don't understand the good reviews, we were disappointed. With this density of restaurants, it's a less good decision, a shame

The Alte Brennerei is a nice/cozy restaurant. We received a warm welcome and great service from minute one! After we made our selection and ordered, we didn't have to wait long for anything. (Very good!) The food was delicious and the portion was more than enough! Price/performance was top. I decided on the rice pan with chicken. It was super delicious and not dry! Clear recommendation! The great service made us feel comfortable and we were very satisfied! We'll definitely come back next time!!!

Rarely have we had such good schnitzel. The fries are also great. The service is remarkable. Even though the place was full, we did it quickly, very attentively and still took time to exchange ideas individually with the guests. I would like to add that I rarely give 5 stars. This requires an aha moment and, for example, a special location. But these 4 stars are meant very kindly!

Overnight stay in a small but nice hotel in the center of the city. Rooms are spacious, well equipped, as is the bathroom. Can be recommended well. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't open until the evening, but the menu is promising.

Even though the place was packed, we still managed to get a table. The schnitzel was simply delicious and definitely worth recommending.

Portions are good, but the quality of the food is below average for a restaurant experience. It didn't please my taste buds. Chicken schnitzel consists of pressed industrial chicken pieces. The chicken schnitzels are not made here but come from the frozen section in the wholesale market. What a disappointment. It's a shame that the Schnitzelhaus isn't what it seems.

One star for the friendly waitress. The food was a complete disappointment. In my opinion, the schnitzels and sauces are finished products. The schnitzels seem to come from the deep fryer. As soon as you enter the restaurant there is no smell of food. Which surprised me. After ordering, food is on the table in under 10 minutes. Which is almost impossible to achieve when prepared fresh. We're definitely not coming back!!!

Actually we can't give a star...Unfortunately we can't rate the food. Yesterday we stood in the restaurant with 8 people and were turned away despite having reserved a table because there was probably a mistake. There was an apology... but that didn't really help us. We wanted to have a leisurely dinner before going to the theater. Luckily there was a restaurant in the neighborhood that helped us very quickly and professionally. We cannot recommend this behavior here

Unfortunately, you won't find delicious handmade schnitzels in this house. When you get your order after about 5 minutes when the house is full, it makes you think a bit. And the proof came quickly after the first bite. The taste, appearance and consistency of the food is more reminiscent of canteen food. Fast, greasy and so-so in taste. A cranberry sauce was bursting with sauce thickener and was more reminiscent of pudding. The staff tried hard and tried to be friendly. However, one had the impression that quick processing was more desirable. The only plus point was - the drinks came within a very short time

Super unfriendly woman at reception. We asked her if there was still a place. She then looked us up and down critically and said no. Almost all tables were still free. I have never been treated so condescendingly and arrogantly by a service person. You can also politely reject someone, this way was simply disrespectful. Absolutely not recommended the restaurant.

Food was really just mediocre. In addition, we were only given 2 hours with 14 people, despite reservations. Dessert was only allowed to be ordered because it was timed to fit. We don't go there anymore.

Overall a solid experience, but with room for small improvements. Maybe a little sauce would have been good for the fries and croquettes. The salad beforehand started things off very well.

Typical German cuisine. In my opinion, the predominance on the menu lies in the schnitzel theme, which can be freely chosen for each dish between pork, turkey, veal and vegetarian, which I would like to say positively. Service is great and you are served quickly regardless of whether the restaurant is full or empty. (No long waiting times :) ) The food, however, is not always consistently good. On a good day it's upper class and if you have a bad day it's just middle class, which fortunately doesn't happen that often or at least there wasn't anything negative to report on our last visits. In Wernigerode one of the best restaurants where the price-performance ratio is still right

Friendly welcome and a nice, clean restaurant. On the menu you will find almost forgotten dishes (e.g. cabbage rolls, Königsberger Klops and veal liver... etc. There are also various schnitzel dishes without meat for vegetarians (I'm not one!!). Everything is well organized. Food/drink menus are already there in the form of a placemat. Oil, vinegar, pepper and salt mill are ready in a box. The service is friendly and competent and we were able to order without having to wait long. After we ordered we didn't have to wait long for the food because it came quickly. The food is very tasty and plentiful... with extra salad plates in advance (you rarely get them anymore). Everything was freshly prepared. A great performance from the team. Anyone else complaining here... There will still be times when we remember such beautiful moments because the catering industry is dwindling, there are no successors, no staff can be found and restaurants have to close. We appreciate your work and are grateful for every restaurant that grits its teeth.....to give everything for its guests.

Ordered a table and had a time slot, in that time slot we were there and the table was gone😏. Maybe other communication and also say on the phone what time you have to be there. There are better addresses here in Wernigerode and with a lot of luck you can find something good even without a reservation where the evening was still a success.

Food was excellent and appropriate for the price, which cannot be said about the accommodation. Very small rooms and a small bathroom with no shelves. It's fine for one night, but not recommended for longer. We were greeted by a room that was 28°C (in autumn), although it was just 20°C outside and there was no air conditioning. I don't want to know what happens in midsummer. Breakfast was ok. Coffee in thermos cups might not be the best idea either.

I can recommend the old distillery. The service is quick and friendly. The food tastes delicious. There are mainly schnitzels in many variations. Other dishes are also available. You don't have to wait long for it either. You can relax in a cozy atmosphere outside and inside. The old vaulted area is particularly interesting if you have to go to the toilet. It contains old stones. It's worth seeing. We felt very comfortable there. You may want to reserve seats in advance as the old distillery is very popular.

Great service and good food! I think schnitzel was deep fried, I prefer pan fried. But the meat was nice and tender and the sauerkraut and sauce were also tasty. So recommended.

The food was good. The ambience is nice. It was very well attended.

We tried the restaurant during our short vacation. You can save yourself. Fried potatoes were barely fried and not very seasoned, but the baked steak was fried for so long that it was almost impossible to cut even with a steak knife. Our family's other orders also left something to be desired (almost raw onions on the liver, trout that was fried for too long). The waitress asked how the food was, but didn't really want to hear it, which was evident from her reaction... She was certainly "annoyed" because the gentleman at the next table also complained about the cold fried potatoes and then received another bowl of cold potatoes. All in all, poor value for money.

I'll keep it short... we had dinner there yesterday with 4 people. Two of them had the schnitzel with hollandaise sauce. Both woke up last night with very bad stomach cramps and had to vomit at times. If the basic requirement (food that doesn't poison) is not met, then I really can't give more than one star... Furthermore, both the schnitzel and the sauces all seem like convenience. Do you cook your own food here or just warm it up? The service was attentive and friendly.

Very good restaurant. There were still free seats at 4:40 p.m., but after that the place gets more and more crowded. If you can, you should make a reservation. Apparently this only works for two slots (around 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.). The service is nice and takes care of you right away. The schnitzel portions can be adjusted (200g or 400g), but 200g is completely sufficient for normal hunger. Price-performance is great!

Unfortunately I have to say that the flair of a restaurant is missing. For me it's more about mass production. I don't remember getting my food so quickly. I had to look for the salad in the small bowl; the breading was twice as thick as the schnitzel. Very bland in taste. Price-performance doesn't fit in any way. There was one positive aspect: the staff was friendly.

Unfortunately there is always a very long waiting time! The ambience also suffers. Little communication, totally annoying. However, the schnitzel is very high quality and tasty - but it can't compensate for that.

Service and ambience were very good. The schnitzel came out of the deep fryer and was very dry, but hot. The salad was not freshly prepared and was already wilted. The cabbage roll had no taste and was thawed from frozen. Our roulade wasn't even properly thawed yet. We were annoyed. Maybe the cook used to be good. There was probably no trained chef at work here on September 6th, 2024. My wife literally cooks 1000 times better. It's a shame, we were hungry

We ate schnitzel there, which tasted very good. We got a place there without a reservation, but maybe you should make a reservation just to be on the safe side. Top restaurant, everything was great, highly recommended. :)

Luckily we had a reservation - the restaurant was very full and had a good volume :-) You need a little patience to be able to order/pay. The food, however, makes up for the little test of patience - it's worth the wait. Our order was super hot and extremely tasty. It's also nice that you can choose whether the schnitzel is pork/chicken/veal and the size (200g or 400g). The fries we chose were sensationally delicious! Thank you, we will come back next visit.
