Ins kleine Paradies in Wernigerode

The food was bad and the price was very high, not worth the food. Unfortunately, I have to give it one star.

After a lovely day in Wernigerode, we happened upon "Little Paradise" in the town center. My first impression of the restaurant: small but perfectly formed. It has a beautiful indoor beer garden, offers fast service, and serves delicious food. The creamed chanterelle mushrooms with Bohemian dumplings and the delicious goulash are particularly recommended! We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant!

It was cozy in the garden, the goulash was delicious, but the salad wasn't particularly noteworthy. We found the €6 beer a bit expensive.

I can't explain the good reviews for the life of me... The vegetables are frozen, and the chanterelle cream sauce has no flavor at all. What kind of chef makes a sauce like that? Truly disappointing!!

There were six of us, and the Asian service was fast and friendly. The food we ordered came quite quickly and was good, though not exactly cheap.

It's a quaintly decorated restaurant. When we arrived, it wasn't busy. It quickly filled up after 6:30 p.m. Then the server couldn't keep up with the crowd. He was nevertheless very friendly the whole time. We really enjoyed the food! You could immediately tell from the cheese schnitzel that it was definitely handmade and not frozen. The quality of the food naturally comes at a high price. That's something to keep in mind when going here. (As adults, we stayed under the €30 mark, but only because we each only had one non-alcoholic drink.) The prices for the children's dishes should be reconsidered. €7.50 for pasta with tomato sauce is clearly too high. If the potato pancakes with apple sauce were also handmade, they would be €8.50, but depending on the size, that's OK. If you want to be a child-friendly/family-friendly restaurant, a children's menu with coloring pages and crayons isn't enough.

Today was the first time in ages that we visited this "little paradise" because of the article in the Volksstimme newspaper that the restaurant had changed hands last week! There were five of us and we had the half duck, the Harz cheese schnitzel, the liver, the goulash, and the vegetarian mushroom pan. Everyone, without exception, loved the food! It was very tasty and plentiful...the server was also very courteous, friendly, and attentive! This wasn't our last visit and we'll be coming back often! If you like hearty German cuisine, this is the place for you!

Good food, timely service. A little expensive but overall a good dinner

Beautifully located in the old town, you come to a place where everyone is welcome, here warmth and friendliness are at the top of the agenda and the chef really has it. My mouth is still watering when I think back to the delicious cutlet, excellently prepared and of top quality. If we travel to Wernigerode again, we will come back! PS: Really great red wines, also highly recommended.

The catering industry is having a hard time! With this understanding of services you can understand it. It was Friday evening, we wanted to go out for something to eat, unfortunately the restaurant we wanted was completely full, so we tried our luck in our little paradise. Why it is called that and for whom it is paradise is quickly explained! Cash payment only possible is the first thing you can read from 10 meters away. Ok, I thought, grandma just gave me €100 and we'll burn it in paradise. So we entered the store, the smell of a nursing home was in the air. Dead silence, even the landlady who was standing behind the counter seemed shocked that intruders dared to enter her premises at 8.30 p.m., she had already had a long working day (open from 5 p.m.) behind her. Good evening, she understandably couldn't say. I then greeted the lady and took the liberty of asking if we could have something for dinner. The kitchen closed at 8:30 p.m., she told me at 8:32 p.m. So we left this store without, sorry, a nice evening or even a nice Easter. So if you like to have dinner early, like it to be a bit smelly and like to pay in cash (makes it easier for the owner to close the checkout) then go to the landlady's paradise. If you want to experience hospitality, then go to one of the many other beautiful restaurants in Wernigerode.

Stopped in spontaneously and immediately felt at home. Small, cozy, the food came quickly and was really, really tasty. Good German cuisine in the best sense of the word. The service was friendly and attentive, even the chef asked about the food. And because it was raining, they even gave us an umbrella on the way home.

My wife and I spent a wonderful evening there with good wine, delicious food and a cozy atmosphere. The food and ingredients were high quality and freshly prepared; the portions are more than sufficient. For us the prices were reasonable and worth every cent. We will definitely come back when we are in Wernigerode again. From our side, a clear recommendation for everyone who wants to eat well and comfortably and is prepared to pay a reasonable price for it.

Dieses Restaurant scheint unprofessionell geführt zu sein. Es dauerte geschlagene 18 Minuten, bis sich überhaupt eine Servierkraft unser annahm. Und die hatte auch noch ein von Soße bekleckertes Servierschürzchen an. Zu allem Übel musste sich unser Kind nach Einnahme eines lauwarmen Würstchens übergeben. Nie wieder!

Wir hatten uns auf einen schönen Abend gefreut, allerdings wurden wir lange ignoriert und die Bedienung war sehr unfreundlich. Das Essen war okay aber eigentlich eher mittelmäßig schlecht. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war sehr schlecht. Wir sind einfach nur unzufrieden.

The service was unfriendly and extremely slow - we had to wait forever even though there were hardly any guests there. In addition, the restaurant was not particularly clean, there were still leftovers from the previous restaurant on the tables, and the glasses were dirty. The food was in no way commensurate with the overpriced prices. The portions were small, carelessly prepared and the taste was below average. For what is required here, we would have expected significantly better quality. Definitely not recommended - neither the service nor the price-performance ratio is right here!

Well, unfortunately we were misled by the excellent marketing and mostly good reviews. First of all, the service was good. The pork neck steak was unfortunately subpar (completely riddled with flexes), the fried potatoes were burnt and dry and all for a horrendous price of more than 27 euros. We visited the restaurant because of the many positive reviews, unfortunately we cannot understand the reviews here at all. The food was average, nothing special, at most the prices were particularly high, for example the sliced ​​lamb came to just under €30, but it was more of a "mushroom slice" in which you first had to look for the lamb (4 chunks). Given the price, I would have expected home-made pancakes to go with it, but that too was just ready-made and the side salad was also very minimalist. If you like overpriced ready-made food/fast food, this is the place for you. There were four of us and the other food was just average. You are full, but not satisfied.

Yesterday I would have highly recommended this restaurant, but after our visit today I absolutely advise against it. The menu is completely different from the one on the website. After we asked and asked for a farmer's breakfast, we were told we could do it, but without bacon. As OK from us. What was then served for €18.90 was anything but a farmer's breakfast. The chef probably still has a lot to learn! And in a restaurant in this price range it wasn't even possible to pay by card, but for example you could reserve a seat online!!! We used to love coming to this little paradise, but unfortunately not anymore!

Food and service weren't that good. I ordered still water and got sparkling water. To eat: Schnitzel with wild mushroom cream. Instead of fried potatoes, I ordered fries, without salad and garnish (allergy to tomatoes), I didn't get fries, but fried potatoes, garnish with tomatoes, wild mushroom cream was not edible for me. All apologies, I was offered a schnapps. I paid full price, never again.

The two of us visited this lovely restaurant on December 10, 2024. We actually just wanted a drink, but we ended up ordering food and were not disappointed. The food was delicious. The chef was alone that day, but he had everything under control and was very friendly despite everything. We will be back.

Luckily, we snuck in without ordering as we were passing by at 5 p.m. sharp...I've rarely experienced such an explosion of flavor, and my husband also thought his roulade was exceptionally good. I couldn't decide and found a quartet of all my favorite dishes on the menu...it was amazing. Not to mention the stunning ambiance and the super friendly service. This insider tip seems to be quite popular, though. 😅👌

We didn't have a reservation, but we still managed to get two seats at the regulars' table. Very nice and friendly staff, and the chef cooks himself. We'll be happy to come back.

The atmosphere is cozy and the menu reads well. We found the food rather mixed, meat was dry. There were 4 of us eating and the bill was accordingly. No card payment possible! And this in a tourist town in 2024! And then the innkeeper's remark that I hadn't asked at the beginning. Outrageous. I then had to let my guests sit down to get cash. I was in this restaurant for the first and last time.

I have eaten here several times. Friendly, nice restaurant, great food and unusual, well prepared. Even if the journey is long, we would be happy to come back

The two of us were there for the evening. The food is good and the prices are right too. Unfortunately only cash payment possible. I don't think that's a good thing in a tourist resort. Customer service not nice. If you can't pay by card there, you should at least say so or post it at the entrance. Conclusion: we would eat there again but this time we take cash with us.

Das Restaurant war relativ voll, weil in Wernigerode im November einige Gaststätten geschlossen haben. Es war sehr schön warm. Die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich. Das Essen bestehend aus vor Suppe und Hauptspeise war bei allen vieren total lecker. Biere gab es von Hasseröder und Altenauer einziges Manko war, dass es keine Kartenzahlung gab.

I often go to very upscale restaurants, where things can be more expensive. But the food there is also really good.

Haben uns auf einen tollen Abend gefreut in einem sehr gut besuchten rustikalen Restaurant. Ohne Tisch-Vorbestellung wird es schwer. Service wirkte angesichts der Gäste als etwas überfordert und konzeptionslos. Die Getränke dauerten und würden zweimal aufgenommen. Essen war super, aber den Preis fanden wir etwas überzogen.

I haven't eaten so well in a long time! The trout fillets were very well seasoned, as was everything around them. The garlic sauce for the tagliatelle was perfectly seasoned. The owner was great at giving advice on wine and everyone was very nice. The atmosphere was also very cozy.

The boss himself served us and was always very friendly and warm! We were served very good and delicious food. Even during the meal he asked if everything was good, that's how service should be!

Die Fassade des Lokals sowie die Karte vor der Tür haben uns dazu geführt, zu reservieren. Eine gute Entscheidung. Ein lächelnder Wirt empfang uns mit Leichtigkeit und Freundlichkeit. Die Karte bietet viele Klassiker des Harzes, zum Beispiel geräucherte Forelle aus einer nahgelegenen Zucht, das Würzfleisch in kleiner Portion, eine magere Wildsülze, und klassisches aus dem Osten. Tolles Essen, gute Weine aus Deutschland und eine tolle Stimmung mit einem anekdotenreichen und zugewandten Wirt. Der erste Abend war so gut, dass wir wieder gekommen sind. Der zweite Abend war genauso schön und lecker wie der erste.

We had pre-ordered - without this..., spontaneously..., at least on this evening, a Thursday..., no chance. First impression: pretty tight here! Second and every subsequent impression: Hard to beat in terms of discomfort! It's so tight that we were afraid the guests at the next table would sit on our laps! What is the point of “eating out?” For us, it means good conversations with friends and exciting food (well, the latter - price-performance…, rather questionable) Unfortunately, we heard all the conversations from the other tables excellently, including ours. Congratulations, I hope you liked our topics! It then became very annoying when it came to paying: no card payment was possible and if you wanted to pay separately, you had to walk through the narrow confines of the restaurant to the counter. Really great, it would have been better in that case if I were delicate and small! Unfortunately I'm not. Sorry again to the guest who unintentionally had my ass on his neck. The waiter was professional, but at the limit thanks to the large crowd of guests. It's a shame, it wasn't a successful evening and absolutely NOT recommended for me!

We landed here for dinner yesterday. We sat in the garden and it was really nice. For dinner we had schnitzel au four and trout fillets with tagliatelle, garlic sauce and vegetables. I know, strange combination. Since dishes without meat are very scarce there, that was my solution. So, the fish was fried dry. The noodles were even worse. Pre-cooked and warmed up in the pan. Partly dried out and the rest a piece. The vegetables, well. Broccoli should be green, not gray. And everything unseasoned. The meat was also very firm and not seasoned enough. Certainly fun for GDR nostalgia fans, but not for the prices. The service was quick and attentive and you feel very comfortable in the garden. But because of the food we won't go there again.

Das Personal war leider nicht wirklich freundlich, obwohl auch nicht viel los war. Die Gerichte sind extrem hochpreisig und die Menge ist sehr sehr wenig. Also wenn man es von früher kennt, dann leider keine Empfehlung mehr. Das Harzer Käsefondues wurde leider auch von der Karte genommen. Das Essen an sich hat aber geschmeckt. Ankommende Personen ohne Reservierung wurden relativ unfreundlich darauf hingewiesen, dass kein Platz mehr ist. Nun ja… Schade.

A great place to stay, there is nothing to discuss about the food, absolutely top, taste perfect. But what really sets this restaurant apart from others is the special extra and the attention to detail and the children who dine with you. The cutlery is beautiful, for the adults and for the children. For example, how the ice cream is served (some ice cream parlors can learn something from this). But also the attentiveness of the owner, the balanced friendliness, there was something very nice about it. I have to say that we felt very comfortable there and the food tasted incredibly good. Simply a very harmonious, harmonious and great overall package. Really rarely experienced something like that. Thank you.

Anyone who likes hearty cuisine is definitely in good hands here. Price performance was appropriate considering the quality and quantity of the main courses. Unfortunately, at least on this day, no card payment was possible. All in all, a very well-rounded restaurant experience. A clear recommendation from me!
