We waited for a while before being shown to a table. But then we were told they were about to close. Longer opening hours would be wonderful.

A very pleasant stay, thanks primarily to the friendly service. The waitress was very child-friendly, and the children loved her. Everyone enjoyed the food; the kids even ate almost everything, which is rare. And that was despite the children's schnitzels being quite large. A big compliment also goes to the very clean and very nice restrooms; every restaurant could learn a thing or two from them. Highly recommended; we would come again.

The door was closed in our faces at 3 p.m. They were told they had a right to finish work sometimes. We would have liked to warm ourselves up with a glass of mulled wine. If you work in the hospitality industry, you should have the same attitude.

A very welcoming atmosphere, and the service is equally friendly. The food is delicious 😋 and I highly recommend it. I'd be happy to come back...

Super great food and nice ambience

We were completely satisfied! The food was excellent – ​​fresh, flavorful, and lovingly prepared. The view was simply breathtaking and made the meal a true experience. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the food came quickly. We also particularly appreciated the attention paid to families: Our children were given coloring pages to pass the time – a great idea! A place we are happy to recommend and will definitely visit again.

After our tour of the castle, the restaurant "Zum Büchsenmacher" was a very welcome stop, with delicious food, a charming atmosphere, and very friendly service! Our children were given tasks to eat and puzzles to solve, which greatly shortened their wait for their food! We'd love to come back!

Probably the best restaurant near the castle. The location is wonderful, the food is fresh and really good. The service was warm and entertaining.

The food was delicious. I had a Greek tarte flambée. It had a perfect garlicky flavor and a delicious base. The service was very attentive and kept everything under control, even though the restaurant was very busy.

We ate an excellent venison goulash with dumplings and red cabbage there. They still cook properly, as it should be. The room is bright, cozy, and clean. The owners had time for a chat after dinner. It's a shame we had to travel so far, otherwise we would have been there more often. We felt very comfortable.

We ate there yesterday. The service was super friendly, but I absolutely cannot recommend the food. I haven't had such a bad schnitzel in a long time, and the price was absolutely unjustified. We definitely won't be back.

Although everything was empty inside, we had to sit outside in the rain. The view from the terrace was lovely. The food was delicious, but rather expensive. We had to wait 20 minutes for service. She was friendly, as was the gentleman who brought us the food.

Delicious currywurst with fries. The server was relaxed despite the fussy toddler. We had to change diapers on the floor using a mattress provided by the restaurant. The dining room was drafty.

We had to wait over 20 minutes before anyone even had the time or inclination to serve us. The food was, in our opinion, just okay. Constructive criticism was considered unjustified and rudely dismissed. We – never again!

A lovely little restaurant right below the castle. We were a bit concerned that it might be a tourist trap due to its location, but we were more than pleasantly surprised. We received a friendly welcome, and the food was truly excellent.

A great, lovingly designed restaurant in a historical ambience. This was our third time there and this time we only went up to the castle because of the restaurant. Whenever we visit the Harz family now, we will probably go to the castle again :) The food is delicious, well prepared and looks good too. Friendly staff and employees who are also the owners and great service. The names of the dishes in the menu are also an amusing highlight, check it out. Thank you for this wonderful experience every time. The restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

We spontaneously got a place as a group of 10. It was very tasty and the waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable and helped with the food selection.

Two words! VERY GREAT. The food was super tasty. Everything fresh. Really everything. Very very tasty. The tarte flambées have plenty of fresh toppings. Schnitzel and “Cordon Bleu” freshly cut, stuffed and breaded. That's how it should be. It can also happen that something is out, but that speaks for the freshness. And when we visit the castle again, which we definitely will, we will eat here again. Order and cleanliness are only mentioned for the sake of form. Everything was great too.

Unfortunately we were turned away because we just wanted to have a drink and eat something small. Impossible despite the empty tables...if I could have given zero points, it would be here...Luckily there are many other restaurants with far more friendliness!!!!

That's a really great decision. Lovingly prepared dishes with a great selection. And then with wines that, in addition to the corresponding taste, also have a regional connection. In any case, we would love to come back, we were not only impressed by the beautiful view.

Friendly staff and solid food quality. Delicious currywurst. The Kaiserschmarrn was unfortunately bland—no raisins, no flavorings, no caramelized sugar. The currywurst was good. The tarte flambée was also good (€15.90!). The prices range from "OK" to ambitious for what's on offer, or rather for the location (by the castle), or even surprising, as some dishes are advertised on boards but the prices aren't displayed. It's quite surprising when snacks like Kaiserschmarrn (€15) and Currywurst (€15.50) appear on the bill. Of course, guests could ask beforehand, but it would simply be a matter of transparency and fairness to comply with the Price Indication Ordinance (PAngV). Card payments are not offered, which is incomprehensible for a hotel geared toward tourists in a tourist location with tourist-friendly prices. When using the restroom, staff will escort you to unlock the door.

Antisocial! The restaurant was completely empty except for a single table, but we weren't allowed in with a stroller (without a child, mind you, that was in the museum). There would be no problem and plenty of space, as only one table was occupied. Something like that at a tourist restaurant, yes, thank you. You can do it, but it's really really uncool.

We stopped by here spontaneously today and were absolutely happy with the food and service. The innkeeper was so attentive and recognized our wishes before we even expressed them. The food was also perfect. We would love to come back. :)

An exhausted person with heart disease was denied emergency restroom access for MONEY! Inhumane behavior by the host.

You should always be careful with offer boards without price information. In our case, a little surprise came at the end of our visit when we saw the price for an average Kaiserschmarrn (without raisins and almonds), which was also not listed on the regular menu.

The apartment was clean, modernly furnished and very well equipped. Sympathetic, friendly hosts, great location with a view over the beautiful town of Wernigerode. We felt very well taken care of during our short vacation. Definitely recommended.

This charming family-run restaurant, tucked away beside the castle, serves up seasonal specialties crafted with love, care, and an emphasis on freshness and quality. The service was warm and attentive, and the chef even stepped out to personally present his dishes with pride. This is slow food in the best sense of the term, nothing mass produced. I would return to Wernigerode just for another meal here—a true hidden gem.

We visited Bücksenmacher on Sunday afternoon. The staff was extremely attentive and gave us excellent advice on our meal choices. We had homemade Kaiserschmarrn (also available without raisins) and a schnitzel with fresh chanterelle mushrooms in cream and duchess potatoes. Both were freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. The terrace in the backyard is quiet, offers a great view, and is a great place to relax. We'd love to come back :D

The gunsmith is run by a married couple. After visiting the castle we stopped there. We sat outside on the terrace with a view of Wernigerode. The food and drinks were great. The Aperol Spritz came with a glass straw, as it should be, and not the nasty paper straw. The chef (husband) brought me my food personally. Everything was made from fresh ingredients, hot and delicious. The two know their craft very well. We would be happy to come back and recommend you to others.

Great restaurant, right next to the castle, with a beer garden from which you have a fantastic view of Wernigerode. The staff is really very nice and the atmosphere is simple and middle-class, but very cozy 👍. The food tastes very good and is really pleasing to the eye. In any case, it wasn't the last time I was there. The fact that there was no card payment isn't so bad, after all there's good cash 😉👏.

Craziness! I haven't experienced anything so friendly and accommodating in a long time! Everyone felt very welcome, we were welcome with small children and dogs and everyone was taken into consideration and everything was thought of. Water bowl for the dog, high chair, wooden puzzle for the children, their drink and food were divided equally without a hint from us... Perfect! Food was great and the price was right too! Gladly again at any time!

Ich wollte dort meine Hände waschen und habe gefragt, ob das möglich wäre. Hätte auch dafür bezahlt. Wurde sehr unfreundlich abgeraunzt, dass im Gasthaus nebenan öffentliche Toiletten wären. Problem war nur, dass das Gasthaus nebenan noch nicht geöffnet hatte. Erneut zum Büchsenmacher rein, weil ich nochmal nachfragen wollte, da war gar niemand mehr vom Personal zu finden. Danke für nichts. Es wäre ein leicht verdienter Euro gewesen, mir zu gestatten das Waschbecken und etwas Seife zu benutzen.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und bekamen einen schönen Tisch. Das Restaurant war sehr hübsch dekoriert und es sah sehr hochwertig aus. Die Dame des Hauses war außerordentlich nett und kümmerte sich sehr um uns. Getränke und Essen wurden zügig serviert. Das Essen war köstlich und schmeckte uns hervorragend. Das Restaurant war voll und trotzdem wurde sich noch um die Kinder gekümmert. Danke für die Idee mit dem Holzstern. :-). Wir haben uns gut amüsiert. Die Toilette duftete und war sehr sauber. Super friendly staff, the waitress gave us excellent information about food and drinks and was very attentive. Food & drink tasted excellent! Also a very child-friendly restaurant. Our kids were greeted warmly and were given a few puzzle games while they waited. We'd love to come back!

Entgegen der gemischten Bewertungen hat es uns ausgesprochen gut gefallen. Der Innenraum ist stilvoll weihnachtlich dekoriert. Die Aussicht wunderschön und der Service zuvorkommend. Der leckere Apfelstrudel rundete den Nachmittag perfekt ab.

Es ist bestimmt eine schöne Gastronomische Einrichtung, aber leider wollten sie mein Geld nicht. Weniger kann auch manchmal mehr sein. Wie man schon im Eingang empfangen wird von einem Schild, Karten Zahlung nicht ! Ich denke mal so 50€ hätte ich bestimmt da gelassen, aber die wollte man nicht. Da kann ich nur sagen, da geht es den Leuten noch zu gut. Ich hatte auch ein Geschäft und habe mich über jede Bezahlung gefreut, egal ob Visa, Maestro oder Bar. Solche Einrichtungen mit solchen Schildern im Eingang werde ich nicht mehr besuchen! Sorry!

Leckeres Essen, frisch zubereitet. Gute Auswahl. Die Lage oberhalb von Wernigerode direkt am Schloss ist ideal. Konnten nach einer kurzen Wartezeit auf der Terrasse sitzen. Die Bedienung war leider total im Stress. Mehrere Gäste, die an den anderen Tischen Platz genommen hatten, standen nach geraumer Zeit wieder auf, da sie nicht bedient wurden.

Alles bestens, unbedingt einen Stop wert. Wir wurden recht herzlich empfangen und uns wurde sogar extra der Sonnenschirm auf der Terrasse geöffnet. Das esse ist schnell an den Tisch gekommen und hat hervorragend geschmeckt.

Sehr freundliches und flexibles Personal das auf all unseren Wünschen eingegangen ist. Wir hatte als kleine Gruppe die Zeit mit Freuden sehr genossen und würden immer wieder kommen.

Sehr urige kleine Gaststätte mit großem Speisenangebot. Was die Wirtsleute zu zweit auf die Tische zaubern, ist super. Dabei kommen die Speisen frisch zubereitet auf den Teller. Wir hatten Wildbratwurst mit frischen Steinpilzen uns Bratkartoffeln bzw. Eine Henkersmahlzeit (Pikant gefülltes Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln und Erbsen).

Wir haben auf der Terrasse gesessen und beim Essen den tollen Ausblick auf den Brocken genossen. Das Essen war lecker, die Bedienung sehr freundlich. Auf der Terrasse sind auch Hunde willkommen, es wurde sogar gleich ein Napf mit Wasser gebracht, kaum als wir Platz genommen hatten. Sehr umsichtig.

Super schöner Ausblick von der Terrasse aus bei sehr leckeren Essen zu fairen Preisen. Die Bedienung war freundlich und hat auf die Kinder Rücksicht genommen. Obwohl sie alleine war ging es schnell und alles war zur Zufriedenheit.

Die Bedienung war super freundlich, hat sich mehrmals erkundigt ob alles in Ordnung ist oder ob wir was brauchen. Das Essen wird frisch gemacht wenn der Gast bestellt und es dauert nicht lange. Geschmeckt hat es uns einwandfrei und wir waren richtig satt. Auf jeden Fall ein Besuch wert, es gibt auch sehr leckere Süßspeisen.

Meine Familie und ich fanden das Zusammenspiel von Gastwirtin, Koch und Lokal sehr gut. Sie wirkten sehr am Gast und seiner Zufriedenheit interessiert. Die Gaststube war nicht riesig, nur groß genug für 5-10 Gästegruppen, dadurch war die Gastwirtin aber sofort für jeden verfügbar und es gab fast keine Wartezeit. Die Speisekarte hatte besondere Gerichte und auch Altbekanntes zu bieten und war nicht ausufernd groß, was (wie man inzwischen ja weiß) für frische Zutaten spricht, weil nicht eine riesen Zutatenpalette auf Vorrat vorgehalten werden muss. Die Gerichte waren ab Bestellung sehr schnell da, ansprechend angerichtet und in sattmachender Menge auf dem Teller. Die Preise waren für die derzeitige Inflation und den besonderen Standort auf dem Schloss moderat. Ach ja, auf den Tischen standen überall frische Blumen nicht zu knapp. Das ist auch nicht unbedingt selbstverständlich. Wir waren zum Urlaub in Wernigerode und haben uns im Lokal wohlgefühlt.

Sehr kurze Wartezeit ! Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Portionen waren genau richtig. Alles war sehr sauber und ordentlich, besonders die Toiletten. Man hat einen tollen Ausblick. Bei unserem nächsten Besuch in Wernigerode kommen wir auf jeden Fall wieder. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft und das tolle Essen.
