Here you can enjoy home-style German home cooking in a great ambience at a great price-performance ratio. Even the side salad tastes fantastic and you can tell that the food here is fresh and of high quality. All of our dishes were delicious and the service is warm and attentive. Plus, it's just nice that this "old" family business has still existed for several generations. We definitely enjoy coming back to Merklingen in the Traube again and again.
The food impresses with classic German, home-style cuisine, the way you want it: down-to-earth, hearty and filling. Particularly noteworthy are the onion roast and the asparagus soup, both very tasty, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The portions are generous, so you'll definitely be full.
A small point of criticism concerns the gravy: Personally, it was a bit too salty for me and the taste was too reminiscent of Maggi; a more natural seasoning would have been desirable.
Overall, a recommendable restaurant for anyone who appreciates hearty home cooking.
Super nice, careful, competent and modern service. Small, cozy, down-to-earth, friendly guest room with direct contact to the counter. Schnitzel and fries were great, I've rarely had anything better. Fantastic surroundings.
Thank you that such original gastronomic gems that focus on the essentials and quality still exist.
A cozy Swabian country inn. As a former Swabian and now northerner, I immediately feel at home. The creamy pork pot with mushrooms and spaetzle is to die for. The chocolate tart is also delicious. They also have a delicious local beer: Landzüngle. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd love to come back.
Super nice operators, great food and craftsmanship in its preparation. The steak was medium rare. Plus a nice pub and fair prices. What more could you want?
A nice asparagus evening at Harry's wine lounge
We went to Harry's wine lounge in Schmiechen with friends - and it was really nice. The restaurant is a bit out of the way and the way up is a bit steep, but there is also an elevator if you are not a good walker. So everything is possible.
At the top you can expect a really beautiful and cozy new building with lots of wood, large sliding windows and a great view over Schmiechen. The furnishings are lovingly made, some of them probably made from old wine barrels?!? - definitely something special with charm.
The food was really tasty: fresh asparagus with potatoes, ham on top and gratinated with cheese - plus a fine, light sauce. Really well cooked - Harry's wife takes care of that.
For dessert we treated ourselves to a sweet tarte flambée with apple and cinnamon. And a Pinot Gris with it - it went really well with it.
The hosts are warm and attentive, you immediately feel welcome.
And quite spontaneously I took a kilo of asparagus with me - it was just too good to leave behind. I hope I can make this anywhere near as delicious.
If we're in the area again, we'll definitely come back - at the latest for the next asparagus season.
Great quaint and nice restaurant.
The waitress was super friendly and attentive.
The food was delicious! We'll be back because we really felt very comfortable.
