Anyone who eats here will not only leave satisfied. A well-deserved 5 stars in every aspect!
Cuisine: The kitchen operates hygienically and uses regional ingredients. Whether authentic or not, the food tastes great, and the portions are always generous. And best of all: the chef himself does the cooking!
Service: All the young and attractive women are not only friendly but also attentive and polite. They know the menu inside and out and are happy to explain anything that isn't clear.
Ambiance: When the food and cuisine are excellent, you hardly notice unnecessary, dusty decorations. However, Sol de Mexico does boast some unique lampshades ;-)
To all the gringos out there: if you think Tex-Mex cuisine is authentic, you shouldn't say a word about Sol de Mexico!
By the way, the regular and rotating cocktail menus are another highlight!
Conclusion: These days, I'm happy to spend more money, especially when it's worth it in every aspect, like here!
We were a group of nine people, sitting at a table that could only comfortably seat eight. After we sat down and ordered drinks, we were suddenly informed that groups of ten were required to order an appetizer platter – at a cost of €13.50 per person. When we pointed out that there were only nine of us, after some discussion, they offered it for €10 per person. However, pizza bread was an extra charge.
The three pizzas we ordered were generously topped, but the crusts were so dry and hard that even with considerable pressure, they were almost impossible to cut – let alone bite. We ended up focusing more on the inside of the pizzas.
The two fish dishes were very good, the side dishes were minimal, and the pasta was tasty, but also a very small portion. Comment: Now we know why you need an appetizer!
We noticed that neighboring tables around us received a complimentary limoncello/grappa after paying. When we weren't offered this, we asked about it. We were told we wouldn't receive anything because we had complained about the appetizer platter and the mandatory portion. We found this very suspicious.
On top of that, the noise level in the restaurant was terrible.
Behind us was a large, inconsiderate group who seemed to have forgotten that they were in a restaurant and not a kindergarten. They were shouting, cheering, and laughing loudly. Unfortunately, the waiters and the owner didn't seem to mind that we and other guests could barely have a conversation.
Our conclusion yesterday: none of this makes any sense if they want to continue serving customers.
A great Bavarian restaurant with excellent food. Unfortunately, this restaurant will be closing completely on November 17, 2023, due to the termination of the lease. Thank you for everything.
This was our first time here. Our daughter was thrilled to see so many airplanes. The food portions were huge. The pizza was fresh and crispy. The most delicious panna cotta we've had in a long time.
I can't tell you this taste, you have to come and taste it 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 Their products are very delicious and the portions are ample 👍🏻 The owners are nice and sympathetic people 🫶🏻 The atmosphere is very good and it is a clean business so to speak 👏🏻 I recommend the Steak Döner, it tastes very good 👍🏻 I definitely recommend you to come 🙏🏻🙏🏻
The menu is quite simple, a true country restaurant. As for the schnitzels, which many order, I wouldn't order them again. They're a rather dry substance, fried in breadcrumbs. They lack juiciness and are surprisingly flattened. The prices are reasonable and affordable, and the service is warm and pleasant. The decor is purely rustic, without any frills. It needs a bit of a refresh, in my opinion.
We went there a few years ago, a group of three, and it was fine back then. But now, in 2025, as soon as you enter the restaurant, an extremely unpleasant smell hits you. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad in the dining room, but still noticeable. The food has unfortunately declined significantly. I wonder how it's possible that so many people write such excellent reviews—are they really that good, or do I just have terrible taste? Which I fundamentally question, because otherwise I'd be a terrible wine merchant!
I ordered antipasti and received a cold platter consisting mostly of pressed cooked ham and cheap salami. Even €11.90 was too much for that. The pizza bread wasn't cooked all the way through.
