We were recently out and about in Freising at lunchtime on a Sunday in wonderful sunshine and happened to come across this great restaurant right on Freising's Marienplatz.
Without further ado, go up the few steps and into the beautiful Spanish ambience!
There was relatively little going on, but that was probably just because it was lunchtime, as we were then advised to make reservations well in advance next time for the evening and especially on the weekend.
In any case, the service was, not least because of this, simply brilliant! Very attentive, accommodating and with great recommendations for food and wine.
The food was also simply fantastic, starting with the fresh bread with aioli, through the starters or tapas, to the fish and seafood platter (Parrillada de Marisco). Simply a dream! My special recommendation is the wonderful interpretation of the Ceviche de Langostinos and the prawns in black tempura batter!
BTW: We know and love Spanish food (we have owned a holiday home in Andalusia for 25 years and go there regularly), but La Cueva tops everything we know!
Clear recommendation and we will definitely come back soon!!! Thank you for everything!
P.S.: In summer it's nice to sit outside and enjoy your food right on Marienplatz.
Good sushi, good value for money.
Service is polite. Waiting times can sometimes be a bit long if you order to be picked up (on weekends of course). Unfortunately, the website is not adapted when the staff is on vacation...
I had the pleasure of dining at New Indian Palace during my recent trip to Munich, and it was an unforgettable experience. This family-run restaurant creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere that truly enhances the dining experience. The food was outstanding, the service was exceptional, and the owning family went above and beyond to ensure a fantastic visit. After dinner, I encountered an issue with my taxi, and the owner kindly arranged a ride back to my hotel for me—an incredible gesture of hospitality. This was one of the best dining experiences I had in Munich, and I can’t wait to return on my next visit!
Off the Beaten Path; I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant near the Munich Airport. It was an exceptional experience! The Diavola Pizza and Spaghetti Frutti di Mare were absolutely scrumptious—full of flavor and perfectly prepared.
The staff was prompt, courteous, and attentive, ensuring everything was just right. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of both the food and service. If you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine in Freising, I highly recommend Portofino. I’ll definitely be back for more!
Very bad food. 66 euros for two beef fillets that were no more than 8 cm wide and were oversalted. The fries were very oversalted and didn't even have mayonnaise. And the sauce was just as oversalted.
Food was great.
Service at the beginning was reserved or unfriendly.
We were an announced group.
Over time the service thawed and we did feel welcome.
If we hadn't celebrated a birthday we probably would have left.
Ambience rather uninviting.
Toilets in the basement smell really bad.
We ordered to be delivered and there was speculation that the suppliers wouldn't deliver that far (20km). After the end of the working hours, the boss offered to deliver it personally, but only for an additional charge of €20. The food was completely soggy, rubbery and cold. Do not recommend this restaurant
Everything perfect, brilliantly nice service. Annoying: Website constantly shows open until 6 p.m. You arrive, for example today at 2 p.m., everything is closed, closed. Dear Lacanto team, update your opening times on the web.
