We went for paella. The wait was very long, well over 30 minutes, even though it was hardly busy. My paella was dry, the rice was burnt, the portion was extremely small, and there was very little seafood. For the price (around €25), it was far too expensive! I wouldn't recommend it. The tapas looked better, but they were also very expensive. The service was good.

We visited La Cueva again after a bit of a break and weren't disappointed this time either. We got a lovely table for two on Wednesday without a reservation. The tapas were fantastic. The clams and the baked eggplant are still our favorites. The service was attentive and quick.

A lovely restaurant on Marienplatz in Freising. Tapas are the star of the show. A very wide selection of different tapas is available to order. The portions are larger than usual for tapas; three pieces are generally a good amount. The restaurant is cozy and the seating isn't too cramped. The dishes were attractively presented and consistently delicious. The only downside is that all the dishes are served more or less simultaneously, which can make it a bit cramped at the table. The service is friendly and helpful, and they are happy to explain the dishes in detail. The price is reasonable, and I would go again.

A wonderful Spanish restaurant and tapas bar with a great menu tilted heavily toward seafood. They have a long list of tapas as well as a nice selection of entrees for those looking for something more. The tapas are great and the paella is delicious. There is a good wine list of predominantly Spanish wines in a range of prices -- so you can splurge if you want to. The beer selection is smaller, though they do have San Miguel. Service is attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back.

An evening at La Cueva is all about feeling good... the ambiance is inviting and warm, and the seating is very comfortable. The waitress was always very attentive and friendly, checking several times if everything was alright, clearing away empty plates, and bringing fresh drinks immediately. The three of us shared several tapas: Pimentos de Patrón, dates wrapped in bacon, baked prawns and anchovies, and more. The menu offers an incredible selection. Everything was a true delight, beautifully prepared and presented. Just like you know and love from a Spanish holiday. Or even better! I wholeheartedly recommend it; this was my second visit, and I'll definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

The four of us sampled our way through the tapas menu. The selection was extensive, and we opted for a mix of vegetable, meat, and seafood dishes, along with a melon salad, goat cheese, and of course, the classic: dates wrapped in bacon. There was a little bit of everything, and we ultimately enjoyed the goat cheese the most; it was the most convincing in terms of flavor. I also really liked the tempura shrimp and the anchovies. The bread was good, too. Unfortunately, the garlic bread didn't quite live up to our expectations. The portion sizes were rather generous for tapas, which is definitely a plus, but we felt the prices were a bit high for the quality. Nevertheless, the food was delicious, and overall it was a solid evening. Next time, I'd like to try the seafood paella. The service deserves special mention; it was very attentive. When all the tapas arrived at once, a small side table was provided for us, which was really convenient. Empty plates were cleared promptly, without any sense of rush. To finish, we were offered non-alcoholic shots – a thoughtful touch, as one of us is pregnant and the rest of us don't drink alcohol. Overall, a pleasant visit, with the service being particularly memorable.

We had a reservation for four people at the restaurant. Unfortunately, the reservation was made for two instead. The only space available for us was in the bar in the basement, tucked away in the very back corner. Not at all pleasant and therefore very annoying. The tapas were okay, but the price-performance ratio is unacceptable. Furthermore, everything is more expensive than on the online menu. For example, the six prawns in garlic oil cost €12.90, and a small tortilla cost €6.90 – €3 and €2 more, respectively, than on the online menu. That's unacceptable. We can't understand how this restaurant received such good reviews. This will be our only visit.

Rather frustrating! I arrived after a late flight, called the restaurant and asked if they could serve me dinner. They confirmed that they could if I got there in 10 minutes, I walked to the restaurant in -3°, they seated me, brought a menu and a drink and then I was told the kitchen was closed and they could only serve me fried potatoes.

Unfortunately, the paella had been sitting in the kitchen a bit too long and therefore lost some of its flavor. However, the tapas were absolutely delicious.

I visited in February 2025. I was in Munich on a business trip, and since it was close to the airport and my hotel was nearby, I searched around and found this place. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was great, and the food was well-seasoned and delicious. It felt like a local favorite 😋 Especially the chili fries? They were salty and delicious👍 I just got back from Spain, but I want to go back. It was a Saturday night, so there were a lot of people, and someone even sang. It was a nice time in Germany for the first time in a while. 🥰 I definitely want to visit again when I go to Munich!

The ambiance is as you'd expect, with friendly service and good food. But the prices are unfortunately way overpriced. Tapas are larger than usual, around €8 per tapa, and three tapas are equivalent to one meal. Smaller portions would be better, as you'd want to order and try several tapas. Bread and aioli as a starter cost €7 here, which is free at other tapas bars. Cocktails are €10, and wine starts at €8 for 0.2l. For a place in the small town of Freising, which nobody knows about, everything is WAY too expensive. A shame!

First Visit I completely missed the fact that the newspaper no longer exists and that a Spanish restaurant has taken its place. So I was pleasantly surprised to try it out right away, and lo and behold, a visit is definitely worth it. Very good tapas, good and varied selection, friendly staff. Very busy even on a weekday. If there's anything to note, it's just that the large San Miguel had a lot of foam in the glass in both cases. Maybe we shouldn't pay attention to such little things – all in all, a very nice evening with great food. A return visit is certainly not out of the question, because I have to remember La Cueva.

La Cueva, or rather La Magnificent! I confess, I had high expectations. But this fantastic restaurant exceeded them nonetheless. I don't quite remember the name of the dish (something Spanish 🤷‍♂️), but I do know one thing for sure: My palate was catapulted to new heights that evening. Cheers to the chef, wow! I was served by a very attractive young man, whose sparkling golden hair was surpassed only by his fantastic service. I can safely say that this tall, handsome, bespectacled, and red-gold-haired man was the best waiter I've ever encountered in my oh-so-long life (sexy, sexy). Cheers to the waiter, wow! Overall, I would like to conclude that La Cueva Freising is more than worth it for anyone who dares to call themselves a gourmet. We were there for a martini and pasta night. The pasta was quite tasty, and there was plenty of it, but there was only a tiny bit of sauce, so about three-quarters of the pasta remained dry. Which is a shame. The service was nice, but unfortunately, it took a long time to be served. Reordering drinks was therefore only possible once. After that, we decided to move on.

There were four of us and we had a great table in the restaurant with a view of Marienplatz. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The various tapas were excellent and beautifully served. We would gladly return anytime.

We tried the pasta dish on Thursday and it was a bit disappointing, but the people were nice nonetheless. We went there again and had tapas, which were delicious.

This is the second time I have been to this restaurant, the first time was right when they opened it and I was very impressed with the food was excited that a place like this came to Freising. However in my most recent visit I was terribly disappointed, the quality and taste was unacceptable. We ordered a variation of tapas all were accompanied with salad and lots of carrots drenched in balsamic vinegar very unpleasant combination for Spanish tapas, the meatballs tasted like falafel when we asked the waitress she explained they’re chicken meatballs I think they mix the meat with bread and season it like Falafel they were also hollow without filling don’t recommend these, the gambas al ajillo were also very underwhelming no seasoning just melted butter and toasted garlic. Maybe the chef is on vacation this August but it’s a shame to see how a good place went downhill.

We had a very good fish meal at this restaurant at the beginning of July. The staff gave us very competent advice and were exceptionally friendly. Yes, it's a shame. I have to deduct points now at the beginning of August. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed on our last two visits. The service was very inattentive. On the second-to-last visit, we were served a liter of red wine for two people instead of the half-liter we ordered with a small snack. Despite a reservation, we were given a bad seat yesterday with a wobbly table and broken chair. Despite the nice weather, they hadn't reserved us a table outside. We had actually ordered a seafood paela for four people. It tasted very good. Unfortunately, the quantity was very limited for four people. Apparently, they only served us one paela for two people for €50. The service didn't ask for it and didn't provide us with an extra plate for the mussel shells and leftover shrimp. We certainly would have ordered dessert if the service had asked for it and served it in a timely manner. We wish the good chef better service staff.

Cocktails were reasonably priced. The food was absolutely underpriced. €6.90 for a bowl of olives and €26 for a platter with 4 slices of cheese, 4 slices of ham, and 8 slices of salami without bread, etc., was questionable.

We had another excellent meal. This time with paella, even if you had to wait a bit for it. Very tasty and thoroughly satisfied. We'd be happy to come back.

We arrived at La Cueva on a Saturday afternoon around 5:00 p.m. without a reservation, but they made a real effort to accommodate us, as all the tables were reserved. We finally got a seat right by the entrance. We had about 2.5 hours for a leisurely meal. We ordered entrecôte with grilled vegetables and salmon, grilled vegetables, and grilled goat cheese on arugula with homemade blackberry mush. The drinks were 0.5 l of Spanish white wine, a currant spritzer, and a small bottle of water. The food all came exactly as ordered, but the portions were very small. The Argentinian entrecôte weighed a maximum of 150 g when fried, the salmon weighed a maximum of 150 g, and the goat cheese a maximum of 120 g per portion. We paid €105 in total, including everything without dessert and a tip, which I found excessive, especially since we noticed that the website isn't up-to-date with regards to menu and prices. The friendly service from the staff had a very positive effect in good German; otherwise, I would have exploded right there and then. It wasn't about the price. The price was secondary; it was more about the portions, which were very small for the price, especially since the salmon was very dry and the medium-rare entrecôte was a bit tough. The goat cheese on arugula with homemade blackberry moo was also very good, but the portion was much too small for the price. We won't be visiting this restaurant again. It's a shame for the staff, who put so much effort into it. Sincerely, to the staff. The owner still has a lot of work to do. The menu needs to be updated online, and the weights need to be stated on the menu so that customers know what to expect. Otherwise, the customer feels deceived, as they assume different conditions: an entrecôte should have a raw weight of at least 200g, like the salmon.

We visited for tapas for the third time and, as always, were absolutely thrilled – super delicious food (it's just hard to choose!), a lovely atmosphere, and exceptionally friendly staff. It's not exactly cheap, of course, but we occasionally treat ourselves to Cueva and are already looking forward to our next visit!

Sadly we didn't get her name, but would love to be able to pass on our compliments. Sadly the order came with bread that was of low quality and tasted like it had been standing around for a very long time. Such ashame that this basic aspect affected what would have been a 100% score

It was nice to sit outside, but unfortunately the food was mediocre. The main course was far too lightly seasoned (pork fillet on mashed potatoes), and the mojo potatoes were too salty. Salt and pepper at the table would have been nice, but there was no service during the meal.

A holiday feeling in Freising—what more could you want? It was a lovely evening with truly delicious Spanish food, friendly staff, and tasty drinks. It was like a short trip to Spain. We'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately disappointing on all levels. We were there on Mother's Day. Well-attended outdoor area, only 1 other table next to us in the restaurant. The kitchen was totally overwhelmed. We waited almost 45 minutes for our food and even then two people left empty-handed or had to wait another 30 minutes. The food was lukewarm, bread only came after repeated requests and the service staff didn't make any effort to apologize for the circumstances. Never again.

It's been a while since I visited La Cueva Restaurant & Tapas Bar, but I always think back to it - especially because it was actually a special occasion. I met my mother and my aunt in Freising. Since I no longer live there, a meeting like this is special and we wanted to enjoy the afternoon with a nice meal. The restaurant we originally chose was still closed, so we spontaneously chose La Cueva, which was already open. The start was a bit bumpy: we weren't really noticed at first, but then we were allowed to choose a spot. The staff was young and generally quite inattentive. Eye contact was avoided and other guests literally had to make themselves known in order to be served. It seemed as if the team was more concerned with themselves than with the well-being of the guests. We ordered paella - my mother one with meat, my aunt and I each with seafood. Since we both wanted the same thing, we were served a large pan together. Unfortunately, the inside was neither fully cooked nor palatable - the rice was still hard and the seafood tasted raw. We tried to complain about it. The waiter listened to us and said he would pass it on, but nothing happened after that. No query, no apology, no accommodation. We then shared my mother's paella, which was at least warm and tasted good. What makes the whole thing particularly disappointing is that the prices aren't exactly low. For a dish of this quality and with such inattentive service, it just doesn't feel right - especially if, like ours, it's a special occasion. Maybe the team is different in the evening, maybe the atmosphere is different - but the way we were treated in the afternoon simply left a sad aftertaste. It almost hurt a bit to leave so much money for so little appreciation - both in terms of food and drinks. If I'm asked today what my experience at La Cueva was like, I unfortunately can't recommend the place. Instead, I like to refer you to the two neighboring restaurants – Platzhirsch and Irodion. In my experience, both consistently deliver good quality and have shown that they take their dealings with guests seriously.

We were looking for some place to eat that was not typically Bavarian and saw that this was within walking distance of our hotel. Dogs were welcome so that sealed it. When we arrived the restaurant was pretty full and the service staff recommended we go down to the bar which was “quieter” and hence might be nicer for our dog. We loved the ambiance of the bar. Service was very friendly and professional. Food was delicious and worth the price.

I've been to La Cueva a few times now and I've just loved it every time! The tapas are super diverse and really tasty - my favorites are definitely the Pimientos de Padrón, Albóndigas in tomato sauce and Patatas Bravas. Everything tastes fresh and homemade, you can just tell that the cooking here is made with heart. The sangria is great – whether with red wine or white wine, it is always perfectly refreshing and goes wonderfully with the tapas! A highlight at the end is definitely the Leche Frita - the dessert is simply the culmination of a great meal. The atmosphere in the store is totally relaxed and reminds me of vacation in Spain every time. A reservation is definitely recommended – the store is often busy.

Last night I had the great pleasure of dining with my friends at the Spanish restaurant La Cueva - and I can say with full conviction: it was an all-round perfect experience. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered. The service was consistently excellent – ​​attentive, friendly and yet pleasantly unobtrusive. You always had the feeling of being welcome and well looked after. The food was the absolute highlight. Every single dish was prepared with attention to detail, tasted excellently and of the highest quality. The flavors of Spain have been captured in an authentic way - a real treat for all the senses! We were also impressed by the ambience: cozy, inviting and full of charm. We felt comfortable straight away and were able to enjoy the evening in a relaxed atmosphere. Thank you dear team! We'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately, our experience as a couple in the evening was as described in some reviews here. The restaurant is quite nice and the food is good, but not outstanding. What doesn't really fit is the price-performance ratio. My fish grill platter for just under €28 is a good example. Despite starters, you couldn't really get full here. My wife's paella marisco was rather average in taste, I can handle that too. Overall, not a bad experience but not really a good one either. I have to positively highlight the live music in the evening.

Hello everyone, We had dinner this week. Unfortunately I have to say that I have rarely had such bad service!! We took a tapas menu for €37 per person. The anticipation was huge but the disappointment was even greater. This menu consisted of 5 plates. It started off really well, friendly staff etc. But after that it got really terrible. Once we ordered, we were blown away by the staff. The store was really full, which was really nice, but the service just doesn't work that way (and I come from a restaurant background myself). We had ordered at 7:00 p.m. We didn't get the third record until around 9:15 p.m. During this time we weren't asked once if we wanted something more to drink. We received 0.0 attention. I then called around 9 p.m. and said that we finally wanted to have our food because we all had to work tomorrow! The answer was just a clumsy “yes, it’s coming soon” not even an apology for taking so long. At 9:15 p.m. the third plate of fried stuff finally arrived (9:15 p.m.?? Fried stuff?? No thanks). My pulse was already so high that I lost my appetite. I then told her to pack the dessert for us immediately and bring the bill! This took another 20 minutes because people were clearly having fun at the bar. I think it's nice when the staff get along well and enjoy their work, but not when the guests suffer because of it. We finally had our dessert (which was actually for 4 people, was packed into 2 boxes for us, meaning 2 of us left empty-handed) and our bill (€37.00 not justified for the menu!). Last but not least, the waitress came with the sentence “here’s a little gift because it took so long” (some drink in a shot glass, which EVERY table gets at the end). My answer: “Well, that’s probably a lie because everyone gets this.” Your answer… none. Maybe we were unlucky yesterday… whatever. I'm done with this restaurant. If it takes longer, no problem. You can communicate. But not receiving any more drinks, having to report and then saying such a stupid sentence at the end, it's really difficult for me to visit this restaurant again, let alone recommend it to others.

So, food was good, maybe a little too mildly seasoned. Service excellent. Atmosphere is atmospheric, the chairs are appropriate in bodega style, but not good for those with back problems. All in all, a lovely evening for us.

Meat was finely cooked. I ordered Paella and Tapas. Both were too delicious. Service itself was great.

We were recently out and about in Freising at lunchtime on a Sunday in wonderful sunshine and happened to come across this great restaurant right on Freising's Marienplatz. Without further ado, go up the few steps and into the beautiful Spanish ambience! There was relatively little going on, but that was probably just because it was lunchtime, as we were then advised to make reservations well in advance next time for the evening and especially on the weekend. In any case, the service was, not least because of this, simply brilliant! Very attentive, accommodating and with great recommendations for food and wine. The food was also simply fantastic, starting with the fresh bread with aioli, through the starters or tapas, to the fish and seafood platter (Parrillada de Marisco). Simply a dream! My special recommendation is the wonderful interpretation of the Ceviche de Langostinos and the prawns in black tempura batter! BTW: We know and love Spanish food (we have owned a holiday home in Andalusia for 25 years and go there regularly), but La Cueva tops everything we know! Clear recommendation and we will definitely come back soon!!! Thank you for everything! P.S.: In summer it's nice to sit outside and enjoy your food right on Marienplatz.

We were welcomed by friendly, but slightly helpless service, when we came here for a small snack of some tapas in the form of a board of ham and cheese. The menu of wine by the glass is very limited, which is generally fine - the overall wine list wasn’t very interesting either though - so we sticked to a plane Rioja they serve by the glass. The cheese board seemed like the imagination of a teenager on how to arrange it, drenched in olive oil and with no particular flavour. After it was obvious that we wouldn’t take another course it clearly felt like they were rushing us to leave.
