Also unbedingt besuchen !!!

WEITERE KOMMENTARE IN Google

A magnificent museum, reopened in 2022 after many years of renovation! The permanent exhibition features church art of all kinds: sculptures, paintings, altarpieces, and much more. The special exhibition "Damned Lust: Church, Body, Art" is a sensation because it critically examines church and art history from a church perspective. It is bold, enlightening, and, given the church's structure of abuse, quite self-critical. The entire building is also well worth seeing, as is the sculpture "Arcangelo" by Berlinde de Bruyckere, created specifically for this exhibition. However, I found James Turrell's light installation "St. Luke's Chapel" less spectacular. It does, however, demonstrate a decisive commitment to contemporary art that characterizes this museum. Anyone visiting should, of course, also see the Freising Cathedral next door, a huge, richly decorated Baroque church. A stroll through the charming half-timbered old town rounds off a day visit to Freising, which can be reached from Munich's main train station in 25 minutes by train.

An interesting museum that showcases modern art alongside Christian exhibits. As is common in Germany these days, even here on the Cathedral Hill, a secular approach is maintained, and in many places, the curators reflect a politically left-wing stance. More labels, dates, and provenance information would be desirable. Texts on Jesus Christ and the Bible appear to have been written by non-Christians and interpreted from a secular, socialist perspective. I overlooked a few aberrations, and the visit was worthwhile.

Aesthetic elegance paired with a touch of dark mysticism, with a view over Freising's idyllic old town. Immerse yourself, delve into the works of art, reflect, and be inspired. The permanent exhibition showcases various facets of Catholic/Christian faith and life. The exhibitions are presented in sequence from the birth and the Virgin Mary to the end of life and the resurrection. Whether Baroque or modern, the works of art come from very different eras. At the time of my visit, there were special exhibitions featuring an impressive photo series with young people and an exhibition on the passion for collecting. But the building of the Diocesan Museum alone is impressive due to its beautiful architecture, with its numerous archways, large windows, and the square arrangement of the exhibition rooms around the "inner courtyard" in the center. Even the restrooms were aesthetically designed.

No. The light exhibition is great. But I've found it inhospitable these days. You're often treated rudely and often sent out with strollers. The prices are expensive and don't match what you see. The annual pass isn't worth it at all, since you have to pay for all the other exhibitions anyway. It's a shame. Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I couldn't visit any other exhibitions. So, in the end, I just paid a lot for the annual pass.

The building housing the exhibitions alone is absolutely worth seeing, but the exhibits are also of the finest quality. In addition to the main exhibition, which has been arranged with great attention to detail, there are also side exhibitions, such as an apasionado's collection of Byzantine pieces or an exhibition on the second floor about collecting as a hobby, depicted in scenes from Alice in Wonderland. My special compliments go to the competent and very friendly staff. I was more than pleasantly surprised that Freising has such a treasure trove to offer and would gladly return.

A very beautiful museum, be it the colorfully designed exhibition rooms, the exhibits, or the entire building. Friendly staff at the entrance make you look forward to your visit. It was very busy that day, and several youth groups were also in the museum. Unfortunately, we weren't informed at the ticket office that the James Turrell exhibition was only open for a limited time that day, with certain times reserved for youth groups. Not really a problem, but information would have been very helpful. We encountered a very rude and annoyed employee at the stairwell who rudely turned us away. We were in the museum for about an hour, and no youth group visited the exhibition during that time. I'm not one for complaining, but I found this behavior very unpleasant and disappointing for such a beautiful museum. I even told the really nice ladies at the reception desk as we were leaving. I hope it's true, as one lady said, that they'll sort it out internally. What a shame! One woman can spoil the entire atmosphere like that.

The museum itself is truly worth seeing – interestingly designed and informative. The staff at the ticket office on the ground floor were also very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, this positive impression was completely ruined by an extremely unpleasant experience with a member of staff on the upper floors. We took the elevator to the second floor and then wanted to walk to the first floor to explore further. Unfortunately, we couldn't find the regular stairwell. A staircase was clearly marked on the emergency exit plan – with no indication that it was closed to visitors. So we opened the corresponding door. We were then addressed by a member of staff in an incredibly rude and condescending manner – in a tone that sounded more like an interrogation than a conversation. She was completely uninterested in our explanation. Instead of understanding or politeness, we received only harsh accusations and disrespectful behavior. This kind of treatment of visitors is absolutely unacceptable. A museum should be a place of learning and openness – not one where you feel reprimanded and unwelcome. Very disappointing – because of a single, but unfortunately formative encounter: Never again!

'Children's birthday party heavenly enchanting' - I have rarely been granted such a fascination. The actual reason for our visit was our daughter's birthday, and she and her friends were able to experience a program specially designed for children under the motto 'Find the Treasure' without her parents being present. And all I can say is that the 5 girls aged 10-13 were enchanted. A wonderful member of staff captivated the children from the start with her style and the tour and hours later the works of art and the light chapel by James Turrell were mentioned. We had really only seen the entrance area today, but we were already here and were already so fascinated by the graceful, awe-inspiring architecture of the building that we will be coming back soon.

I am not a religious person, but James Turrell’s installation gave me a spiritual experience which I don’t want to miss. Truly amazing!

Specially great. Giantinism fits with the church's excessive waste. Impressive like the churches. But not acceptable today. As a Catholic, I felt ashamed in front of my visitors today. They came on my advice, but they were shocked.

Very nice place to relax and enjoy a cappuccino with or without cake in peace. Great panoramic view over the city of Freising over to Weihenstephan and at Fön of the Alps. Everything is clean - prices are ok.

Small, cozy restaurant; we had a delicious meal on the terrace. The menu mainly featured hamburgers. The service was very friendly.
