Randomly ...
... we came across Erich Schwingshackl and his cooking skills. We always treat ourselves to a special meal for our wedding anniversary, so we decided to try his cooking. And that is combined with a stay at the Naturhotel Rebling, where the restaurant is located.
On Friday evening the time had come and we treated ourselves to the seven-course gourmet menu with friends.
The table was beautifully decorated and we sat in the middle of the small gourmet restaurant. We were the only guests in the area that evening, but that wasn't a disadvantage at all for the service or the food.
We were well looked after by Ms. Schwingshackl and were also given very good advice on all questions about the dishes and drinks. She was also open to our wishes. Her husband then cooked us an excellent menu, which was a pleasure from start to finish. All the dishes were a taste experience and the presentation was also a joy for the eyes.
This meal is worth the Michelin star awarded and was perfectly priced.
Also worth mentioning is the feel-good atmosphere that the Schwingshackl family has created in the small, fine restaurant. And then there is the magnificent view far beyond Deggendorf...
The area of the two restaurants is completely surrounded by a balcony. A dinner here in summer is certainly a very special experience - both culinary and simply because of the great view.
Last Friday the two of us wanted to eat outside in the early evening when the weather was great. There were still free tables that were not reserved (the entire left side was free!)
We got the answer that there was only space inside.
Since we remember the Schützenstube from its old location and have ordered there repeatedly, I have to say that the quality has declined considerably and the prices are far too high. We paid €30 to go for three dishes (Margherita, pizza salami, and tortellini), and I have to honestly say that I could have done better at home. The pizza dough was very marbled, 2cm thick in one place and burnt in another because it was so thin. And on top of that, the Margherita hardly had any toppings. How can the price be €8.50? I'm happy to pay a bit more if it tastes good, but it doesn't add up here...
Had to throw away the kebab as it was inedible. The flatbread was really good, but the meat was hard and impossible to chew. Like biting into the crust of a roast pork. Really scary, don't want to know what kind of meat it was or how old it was.
We ate there today and felt very comfortable. Not only was the food really good (we had the buffet, which was completely sufficient and had a few surprises), but because the staff served us very kindly and gave us many tips. We would love to come back 👍
