Today, on the recommendation of friends, we ordered from Omar's for the first time (takeout due to COVID-19). We are absolutely thrilled! The dishes are prepared to a high standard, are authentic, and very deliciously seasoned – like an experienced Afghan grandmother would make :) The lamb was truly tender and well-cooked, perfectly paired with saffron rice, orange peel, and pistachios. My boyfriend is a fan of the Ashak dumplings, and I'm now a fan of Bolani dumplings. I will definitely order them again next time. The owner is very friendly. He gave us good advice and gave us a salad and dessert on top. Great food! A great addition to Augsburg.
Addendum: I originally gave it 5 stars. Unfortunately, I later discovered that the prices were higher than stated on the menu. Each dish was simply rounded up. This shouldn't happen, so unfortunately, it's deducting two stars. (We also tipped.)
The three of us wanted to go out for a cozy dinner in the evening with a wonderful view of the town hall.
Unfortunately, the blonde waitress didn't even greet us.
No hello, nothing at all.
Just a "Our kitchen closes in 15 minutes."
Really rude.
So we hurried to order.
The food was good, but they should have paid more attention to the service.
Unfortunately, we didn't feel welcome, and it came across as if we were a nuisance to the waitress.
Really a shame.
One star for the location and the other for the food.
After a year, I have to downgrade the rating. A lot has happened at John Farmer, and things have changed for the worse. The new manager (24/25) always looks stressed, never smiles, and seems overwhelmed. Last time we had a reservation, we waited an hour for our food. The toilets were blocked, paper towel dispensers empty, and only one paper towel was provided. The meat was still bloody despite requesting it to be cooked thoroughly. The waitresses were not very enthusiastic, and we had to order extras like sauces ourselves. Overall, we were totally disappointed this time. Sure, there were a lot of guests, but when I know it's a holiday, I have to expect and plan accordingly. I hope the situation improves.
My favorite sophisticated beer garden.
Friendly service, good pizza, and a lovely, quiet area. They also serve good wine. Perfect for a simmering evening for two.
Unfortunately I can't rate the food or ambience because I called more than an hour after I ordered the food and asked about its whereabouts and then found out that my delivery had probably been canceled by the pizza boys. Curiously, the notification of the cancellation came immediately after I called.
I think it's a complete impudence to make someone wait for over an hour, call them on their own and then find out that they don't get anything to eat!
The food at Enchilada was generally okay—taste-wise, it was okay, but nothing special. However, for the price, we would have expected a bit more, both in terms of quality and overall experience.
Service was friendly, but again, it was rather average. There are definitely alternatives in the area that offer more for the same price, in our opinion.
We were curious, so we tried it—but we're unlikely to return.
The bread was freshly baked. The doner kebab was delicious, with a good portion of meat and a tasty sauce. Many people commented that they were there late at night and the food wasn't good. I've been there during the day and have eaten there several times, and I'm always satisfied. I'd be happy to come back.
The Corso undoubtedly has a long tradition in Augsburg and one of the best locations right on Maximilianstraße. We wanted to enjoy a latte macchiato and an iced latte for two and relax until our appointment.
Arrival & First Impression
The ambiance is quite appealing: the seating is very comfortable, with a view of Maximilianstraße and the option to sit in the shade. A place where you'd actually want to linger a bit longer.
Service Experience
Unfortunately, our visit didn't get off to a particularly pleasant start. It took over ten minutes before a waiter even showed up to take our order. The odd thing about it: We had seen the waiter sitting outside the whole time and thought he was a customer – after all, he looked in our direction several times without reacting. Only when we went inside did he approach us and take our order. Why he had ignored us before remains unclear, but we found it rather unwelcoming.
Drinks & Prices
The two coffees – latte macchiato and iced latte – tasted okay, but lacked a particularly wow factor. At €8.60 combined, they were certainly not a bargain, but still within reason given the location.
Conclusion
The Corso scores highly for its tradition, central location, and pleasant ambiance. However, our experience with the service significantly dampened the overall impression. There's a lingering feeling that you're "overlooked" as a guest, even though you're sitting directly in view. For this reason, we couldn't bring ourselves to tip.
Suitable for a quick coffee in a good location – but those who value attentive service might be better off looking for alternatives.
Pascham is ideal for anyone looking for a wide selection of authentic Turkish cuisine in Augsburg. The friendly, uncomplicated atmosphere makes it appealing – but those expecting relatively large portions for a low price might be disappointed by some of the dishes.
Probably permanently closed since the beginning of September 2024.
Unfortunately no message or information was left for the guests. The restaurant was simply emptied.
