We were really looking forward to visiting the Gasthaus Mitteltor – it had been recommended to us several times. The experience there was all the more disappointing.
In the dining room, we were completely ignored. The server walked past us twice and, when I politely asked, simply said, "No room here." This was neither friendly nor welcoming.
The dining room was almost empty. We got the impression that guests with dogs weren't welcome. A real shame – this is not what one expects from hospitable service.
This restaurant is a gem! The manager welcomes you like an old friend, immediately creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's a true escape, with beautiful Ethiopian music that transports you while you dine. Every dish we tried was a delight. An absolute must-try for an authentic and memorable meal. I can't recommend it enough!
A lovely restaurant with cute interior, amazing staff and delicious foods. Worth to come here, and not just once. You will never find a better place than this in Munich :)))
We were there on November 7th, 2025.
We arrived early at 5:15 PM specifically to get a quiet table with our large dog. Upon entering the restaurant, the first thing the owner said was, "Everyone with dogs today, and one huge 'calf' too!" She was referring to us and our well-behaved Newfoundland. We were shown to a side room, which was fine with us. Other guests arrived and were told to sit at the next table, as the owner kept saying to them, "But there's a dog here!" I find that unacceptable. She should open a restaurant where dogs aren't welcome.
It was a successful stay. The restaurant offers a well-stocked selection of food and wine. Service very courteous but not intrusive. I enjoyed spending the evening there. Will definitely be back.
Excellent!
We've been here for dinner several times. It's always been delicious, and there are plenty of gluten-free options.
The service and the food have always been consistently outstanding. We love coming back.
