It was my first time there and I ordered a Kutscherpfanne (coachman's pan), which is listed on the menu with three types of meat and fried potatoes. The three types were actually two pieces of turkey, cut into small pieces and topped with a piece of beef. The fried potatoes were cooked in a deep fryer. It wasn't a lunch special, and for €24.90, it wasn't a special offer either; the quality offered was a disaster.
The food was absolutely fantastic! We shared the tuna carpaccio with the fried capers, then we had two pasta dishes, mine with venison goulash (incredibly tender) and truffles, also very, very tasty. For dessert, we had (again shared) pistachio torrone parfait, divine. The Sardinian red wine was also very, very delicious! We had a wonderful evening.
After seeing a report about the Genusswerkstatt (Pleasure Workshop), I knew I wanted to experience it for myself, so I went to Mainz!
We booked the "Genusswerkstatt Dreamtime Special" package, and what can I say? It was pure joy, moments of indulgence, laughter, and wonder.
My vegetarian menu (available upon request) was a real highlight, especially the sauces and dessert were divine!
A huge compliment to Helge Straub & the entire team: You can feel the passion, precision, and joy you put into your cooking in every moment. It was fascinating to watch you prepare everything – so much attention to detail and craftsmanship!
Thank you so much for this wonderful evening – we'll definitely be back ❤️
From the outside, it looks a bit like a daycare center because of the painted window. Inside, it's like a cozy cafeteria. The food was truly amazing. If I lived/worked here, this would be my daily lunch stop. The young lady behind the counter was incredibly friendly and very polite.
Super delicious ice cream at a just-reasonable price. A large selection, including some seasonal flavors. We always enjoy coming back to the ice cream machine!
We received a very friendly welcome and were served. Bruschetta as a starter was theoretically enough for two people. The pizza was delicious and made with good, fresh ingredients. The pasta dish with shrimp was also highly recommended.
Upon request, they even offered a drink that wasn't on the menu.
Highly recommended.
I was in Ilmenau for a seminar at the Binz company and had dinner here. This restaurant is an insider tip. The food and beer were excellent, and the prices were fair. The atmosphere in the restaurant is rustic, cozy, and welcoming. The owner is a real character and very hospitable. If I ever find myself in Ilmenau again, I'll definitely eat here again. Thank you very much.
