We celebrated our wedding here in April 2023 and cannot recommend the restaurant, or rather the management of it.
The food and cake were very tasty. All guests enjoyed it. Unfortunately that was it.
Before the celebration, all details including the number of guests etc. were discussed. It was planned in such a way that all guests would have been fed more than easily.
We expressly pointed out that the number of guests could be reduced by 10-15 guests and we were assured that we would only have to announce the actual number a few days before the celebration. We did this and the number of guests actually decreased due to illness.
Then, like at a bazaar, it was discussed that the originally calculated price was no longer suitable and that we should still pay the price for the original number of guests. This discussion spoiled our mood in advance to hold the celebration there.
On the wedding day, the celebration started in the early afternoon with a cake buffet. We quickly realized that the cakes we had originally agreed upon were significantly reduced. Cake was also served, which we had not discussed. E.g. Sheet cake instead of cake.
With fewer guests, fewer cakes will certainly be put on the buffet so that the restaurant's calculations are still correct. But in this case the relationship no longer existed. How do I know this? I simply used the rule of three to compare the amount of cake for the originally planned number of guests to the actual number of guests. If we hadn't had a wedding cake, some guests would have been left with empty stomachs. But now it gets even worse: Uneaten cake, which was about one cake from the in-house kitchen, was cleared away from the buffet after a while and taken to the cold room. This was agreed upon and we were assured that we could take the rest of the cake with us the next day. But the next day there was no cake left to pick up. Only the wedding cake, which didn't come from the in-house kitchen. We don't know what happened to the rest of the cake. On the day of the celebration, the café outside the restaurant was open.
Unfortunately, there was deja vu at the evening buffet in terms of the amount of food. The food was without question very good and the chef definitely deserved praise!
But all the guests were just about full. My wife didn't because we had to put our little daughter to bed and when we came back there was hardly anything left. No further food was added, which is sometimes the case with a wedding buffet. Especially with the limited quantity.
The bride won't be satisfied with the dinner buffet at her own wedding - you'll literally have to let that melt in your mouth.
The next day I wanted to speak to the restaurant management on site, but there was no one there. I was told to wait. After 30 minutes there was still no one there and I left. I couldn't reach anyone by phone either, so I wrote an email. At the time of coordinating all the details, replies always came promptly from the said email address. But there was no reply to the email with my complaint.
Now you may ask yourself why the rating comes almost 2 years later? We knew there was nothing more we could do here and just wanted to let the frustration sink in. But still, a while before our wedding day, this memory comes back and what went wrong here still annoys us enormously!
We haven't set foot in this restaurant since, even though we celebrated our wedding here, and that says more than enough.
Simply annoying that such a special and beautiful day was so marred by the events described above. A big thank you to the restaurant management for this!
Why 2 stars instead of just 1? Because, as I said, the food was very tasty. But that's only part of the big picture at a wedding buffet.
My aunt was always raving about it, so I went along. Now I'm jealous that I live so far away and can't go back so soon.
Super cute little restaurant, with homemade dishes that change daily. Everything in bowls and mostly vegan. Sometimes you also have the meat option to choose from. They also have to-go portions in mason jars. Should have brought some...Oh and you have to try the coffee! I picked up a small bag of beans from the sun bean roastery. A must for coffee lovers, so smooth and velvety.
Many thanks again to the nice lady who served me!
Anyone who appreciates rustic cosiness, good home cooking and warm hospitality has come to the right place. The old hall tells many wonderful stories, the genuine ambience and the warmth of the landlady give you a feeling of security, and the Thuringian dumplings are unsurpassed.
If German gastronomy has a future then it could look like this. Friendly, down-to-earth, very good food, lovingly prepared. Little to no pre-processed products. Very good.
Weihnachten

Absolutely reasonable in price.
