May 2024. Hotel in Siegen, Gasthof zur Post. Set yourself up for a small transit hotel in an old building (pinewood style) at a busy point in a quiet part of the city. Siegen offers nothing except the Schloss. Not even an open restaurant on Sundays. Not recommended for a long stay; but neither does the hotel: no separate sitting area and/or comfortable chairs, etc. Very neat and good atmosphere, personal attention. Small room basic+, (Helena or similar) very low beds, very weak pillow, 1 chair, neatly clean, tiled floor, bathroom. small, recently renovated but sink belongs in toilet. Shower tray also too small and very slippery; very dangerous for the elderly. Unnecessarily large bath towel, could be half smaller. WiFi mediocre, dinner very good (! with very extensive menu!) breakfast good (basic +) Limited parking space next to and in front of the hotel. Many stairs, no elevator. All neat and friendly. But for passage, not long stay.

If you walk around the house through the beer garden, you come to the restaurant on the ground floor. The buffet was delicious and at just the right temperature, the staff were very friendly and attentive. I wasn't the last one there.

The price/performance ratio is still right here. Food was delicious. Could be even better if you used fresh canned mushrooms and peppers instead. I would also be willing to pay more for it. Service is friendly. Ambiance is ok. It's already getting a bit old. I often eat there because it's still affordable.

Well... Great, fast service, but wait 1 1/2 hours for the food... A little tip: balsamic vinegar as a decoration on a dark plate and half on the lumberjack steak doesn't work.

Well, you don't feel comfortable as a woman. The hotel is located just outside of Siegen. For professional reasons I drove to Siegen. The rooms are small but functional, a bit dingy for almost €70 there are definitely better hotels in Siegen, especially since there was no breakfast. I don't recommend the hotel.

I don't know where these bad reviews come from, maybe Siegen has a lot of complaining students. Definitely nice staff, good value for money!

The Café del Sol has been THE FIRST SIZE in Siegen's gastronomy scene for years. Often when I return to my hometown of Siegen, I go there; for example to meet old school friends. The food is always delicious and the service is very organized and friendly. During the penultimate visit, the servants Melissa and Alyssa were particularly positive. Melissa served us with competence, humor and charm. She has excellent manners with guests and you can tell that she enjoys what she does. I was last there with 8 people and Tamara K. served us in an exemplary manner. She accepted all requests with kindness and humor. The food was, as always, delicious and everything came exactly as ordered (every dip and every extra request was taken into account). We would love to come back and are already looking forward to our next visit.

The new Ikea restaurant is now in the globe. In contrast to before, things have deteriorated significantly. The recipes for the classic dishes appear to have been changed somewhat and the abundance of vegetarian dishes doesn't really taste good. We used to go there every few weeks...
