Gasthof zur Post in Siegen

I can't understand the other reviews. Either the negative ones are regularly deleted, the people are idealized, or it's only recently become so unbearable! On my birthday, I wanted to do my 95-year-old grandmother a favor and go to the Gasthof zur Post one last time, where we used to celebrate countless parties since my childhood. Even the front facade showed that the building is visibly showing its age and that apparently no one cares about keeping it presentable anymore. Even the menu outside was barely legible because it was so old and bland. The bland plastic flowers didn't help either. I had specifically reserved a table for two people requiring care, one that wouldn't be in the spotlight. What did we get? An uncovered table right by the entrance, in a draft. We were immediately forbidden from closing the glass sliding door. Apparently, with the crowds of people coming and going, we might bump into it… Then the cutlery basket was slammed down on the table, and we were left to distribute the cutlery and coasters ourselves and fold the napkins. The menus, which were visibly dirty, still contained almost the same dishes as before, naturally at new prices. A quick visit to the men's restroom revealed a long-standing water leak in the form of a rotten window frame and a distinctly early 70s atmosphere! Then the smell of cigarettes from the "receptionist" wafted around the corner, as there seems to be no smoking ban at reception desks. For €24.90, I was served six shredded calamari rings with raw fries and a lovingly concocted ketchup and mayo sauce. Very hygienic, considering the cook, who apparently wore disposable gloves while cooking, serving, and taking payments. I really wonder why anyone would wear gloves. It's a shame that the good reputation and quality of this once-popular inn in Eiserfeld have deteriorated to the point that I was more than embarrassed to invite my family there. Never again!

We were a group of 25 people who went there for dinner. The service was quick and friendly, the food was delicious, highly recommended.

The food was delicious; we had a mixed grill for two. Beer and ouzo were also delicious, and a lovely Greek coffee was delicious. The rooms were clean, the beds and bedding were comfortable, and the shower was great. We were looked after very kindly. We would gladly return!

We stayed at the Gasthof zur Post with eight people, including children, and were absolutely delighted. Even though the inn has been around for many years, everything is very clean and well-maintained. We had one triple room and three double rooms, all with different layouts, very spacious, all with electrically adjustable slatted frames, large bathrooms, plenty of closet space, and truly lacking nothing for a longer stay. Due to its location on the street and the restaurant below, it is naturally a bit noisy, but you know that beforehand, and it didn't bother us at all. The charming little beer garden was a wonderful surprise that we hadn't seen beforehand, and it was lovely to sit outside late into the evening. The food is fresh, high-quality, and much of it is homemade – you can taste the difference. The breakfast was equally generous, and the table was beautifully set for us. The owners and staff are incredibly friendly, accommodating, and attentive, and we felt completely well taken care of. ... We would come back anytime in this situation, and at first glance you wouldn't recognize this as a nice, owner-operated inn with lots of personal service.

Delicate hand-made schnitzel, homemade fries and homemade sauce. We would love to come back 👍🏻 The atmosphere is rustic, but it fits with the style of the building. The service was friendly and quick, there was nothing to complain about.

Genuine German hotel with excellent food. Nice people. Rooms are a bit older, but beds and sanitary facilities are good. For the price it is absolutely worth it.

Nice little hotel in a central location with a good restaurant in an old but well-kept and beautifully furnished half-timbered house. The rooms including the bathroom are very clean, the beds even have adjustable slatted frames. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast (which you have to book and pay for separately) is very rich and very good. Free parking spaces are available directly at the house.

May 2024. Hotel in Siegen, Gasthof zur Post. Prepare yourself for a small transit hotel in an old building (pine style) at a busy point in a quiet part of town. Siegen offers nothing except the Schloss. Even on Sundays no open restaurant. So not recommended for a long stay; but also not a hotel: no separate sitting area and/or comfortable chairs or the like. Neat and good atmosphere, personal attention. Small room basic+, (Helena or the like) very low beds, very soft pillow, 1 chair, neat and clean, tiled floor, bathroom small, recently renovated but sink belongs on toilet. Shower tray also too small and slippery; very dangerous for the elderly. Unnecessarily large bath towel, can be half as small. WiFi moderate, dinner very good (! with very extensive menu!) breakfast good (basic +) Limited parking space next to and in front of the hotel. Many stairs no elevator. All neat and friendly. But for transit, not a long stay.

We were there for dinner yesterday with 4 people and a small child. After placing the order, we waited 1 hour for the food, which was an absolute joke in terms of price and performance. Everyone ordered schnitzel. The schnitzels were definitely Convinence goods, the fried potatoes were not cooked through, the sauces all consisted of ready-made hollondaise with mushrooms for the mushroom cream sauce. The Bernaise sauce was also a super sour hollondaise ready-made sauce. The pepper cream sauce was a tomato sauce with peppercorns. We don't have to talk about the size of the plate, for just under 19 euros per schnitzel... 2 potatoes as fried potatoes, a mini schnitzel and a little sauce. The highlight was the pizza rolls. These were all burned to velvet, but not fully baked. And should my child “mumble” in peace? Just a joke. The children's high chair was completely dirty and was brought to the table from the smoking area, so I first cleaned the chair myself with disinfectant wipes. We were all very disappointed and will never eat there again!

Wie waren mit 14 Leuten da, um wieder zu kommen wäre ein kleiner Service nötig gewesen …. Den haben wir nicht vermisst!!! Andere Restaurants freuen sich über den Umsatz!

Raucherbalkon gleich um die Ecke des winzigen Zimmers, was ein Plus war. Der Balkon allerdings ziemlich siffig. Code kam rechtzeitig, Rechnung per E-Mail auch. Standort gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber in Ordnung, auch, weil der Preis stimmt.

Hier gibt es noch richtige Schnitzel, nicht dieses Zeugs im 100ter Pack aus der metro, Selgros oder so. Alles ist hier authentisch, inklusive der Einrichtung. Die 3 Sterne für Ambiente sind nicht abwertend gemeint sondern ehrlich - wie die gesamte Lokation. Gehe gerne wieder hin wenn ich mal in Eiserfeld bin.

Das Essen ist absolut fantastisch, super lecker und wirklich zu empfehlen. Das Ambiente ist für heutige Verhältnisse einzigartig: es wird noch zusammen gekniffelt und gespielt, frisch gezapftes Bier und dazu gutes Essen. Was will man mehr?

Wir gehen mehrfach im Jahr in diese Gaststätte und sind immer wieder begeistert vom wirklich sehr guten Essen. Die Salate sind absolut frisch, leckeres Dressing und die Hauptspeisen auf den Punkt gebracht, liebevoll angerichtet und perfekt gewürzt. Die freundliche Bedienung ist sehr aufmerksam.

Absolut begeistert, mega lecker und frische Zutaten! Aufmerksamer Kellner, alle sehr nett und Hund durfte auch mit. Ich komme wieder!

immer wieder empfehlenswert....obwohl ich mein gericht ohne salat wollte und dafür mehr pommes am teller bestellt habe kamen sie diesem wunsch nicht nach ! Fritten waren nicht wie sonst....hätten noch etwas knuspriger sein können . teilweise gerade so das sie durchgegart waren -schade .

Ja wir geben zu am Ambiente und Sauberkeit müsste mal was passieren dafür macht der Koch die besten schnitzel aus dem Siegerland besonders pfeffersauce so 😋 lecker immer wieder gerne Preise ok .

Die Zimmer sind einfach eingerichtet aber sauber. Das Essen ist spitzenmäßig sowie der Service.

Einfache aber zweckmäßige Ausstattung. Für eine oder auch zwei Nächte vollkommen ausreichend, für einen längeren Aufenthalt sind die Zimmer zu spartanisch ausgestattet. Preis/Leistung passt aber. Zum Essen kann ich leider nichts sagen, das späte Bier nach meiner Rückkehr hat aber geschmeckt. Das Haus ist aufgrund des Alters recht hellhörig.

Im Gästehaus im Doppelzimmer übernachtet. Frisch renoviert. Zimmergröße ausreichend, großes Bett, großer TV, Nische mit Küchenzeile. Bad ebenfalls renoviert aber recht klein. WLAN gut. Zimmer war sauber. Punktabzug für Außenanlage, Fassade und den großen Parkplatz, etwas ungepflegt. Das Frühstück im Haupthaus ist dafür gut und ausreichend. Freundliche Bedienung.

Sehr Hellhörig aber ansonsten alles gut..

Wir hatten ein Dreierzimmer mit Frühstück (Einzel- und Doppelbett in getrennten Zimmern plus kleines Bad) und waren nur zum Schlafen da. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist top, Sauberkeit oberflächlich betrachtet in Ordnung (bei dem Preis kann man keinen regelmäßigen Großputz erwarten). Möbel alt aber stabil, Bett gut. Personal war sehr freundlich und Frühstück reichhaltig. Für Preisbewusste empfehlenswert.

Ich war sehr zufrieden. Personal war sehr freundlich und Essen war sehr lecker.

Abends mit ca. 20 Mann in der Post essen gewesen. Bedienung schnell und gut. Getränke gut. Die gereichte Grillplatte, geschmacklich sehr gut. Leider war die Portion pro Mann sehr überschaubar. Wir werden beim nächsten Mal von der Karte bestellen. Wären alle satt geworden, hätte es 5 Sterne gegeben. Wie schon gesagt, geschmacklich 1A.

Zeer goed en simpel schoon gezellige gasthof. Goede bedden en een ruime kamer. Prima ontbijt. Een echte aanrader. Ook heel lekker gedineerd. Sfeervol en gezellig omdat er veel lokale mensen zijn.

Bei der Buchung sagte man mir das ich in das zweit Haus übernachten müsse. Als ich das Gebäude sah dachte ich jetzt muss ich unter einer Brücke schlafen, ging aber doch in das Hotelzimmer. Das Zimmer war der Hammer top moderne Ausstattung und ein schönes Bad . So kann man sich irren. Das Frühstück wird zwar im Hauptgebäude aber ist Toll Mann soll nicht nur auf das äußere achten.

Wir waren zum Abendessen in der Post. Die Zwiebeln zum Schnitzel mit Pfifferlingen und Bratkartoffeln waren verbrannt. Die Bratkartoffeln ebenfalls. Auf einen Hinweis beim Service gab es keine Reaktion. Wir waren eigentlich bisher zufrieden, aber das war nichts. Hoffentlich ein schlechter Tag.
