Very nice atmosphere, food is great, staff is super nice and accommodating, we like to come often.

The change! I originally gave it 2 stars. However, the restaurant tried very hard to resolve the discrepancies and gave credible assurances that they would take the criticism to heart and rethink certain processes. Since the food was really tasty and technically good, I gave it 4 stars First of all, as a self-employed person, I'm not a fan of bad Google reviews, but the overall experience of this evening unfortunately leaves me no choice: the interior design and the general atmosphere in the restaurant are certainly up for debate, but it doesn't suit my taste in any way, that alone would probably have meant that I wouldn't plan another visit to this restaurant. Overall, the food was good to very good, some courses certainly had very intense flavors, but overall it was harmonious. Some of the courses were really excellent. The overall result was initially reduced due to the very expensive digestive: A mediocre apricot schnapps for 35 € per person in this case does not fit the overall price-performance ratio in any way and would definitely have needed a mention of the price when ordering, as is actually appropriate for a restaurant of this class. You can probably forgive the fact that a bottle of Gerolsteiner water costs almost €12. The whole evening was made very unpleasant by an additional course, which cost €43 per person. Definitely okay in terms of taste. In the bill, however, in addition to the wine accompaniment, another wine was added to this course at around €30 per person, which was never mentioned. When the bill was issued, our waiter was approached and an offer to take the wine off the bill, which we were never informed about, was made in the smallest possible way. We found that to be extremely outrageous. Only AFTER paying the bill, despite the criticisms mentioned above, were we offered another digestive as compensation. What seemed almost embarrassing then... Finally, one has to say that a star restaurant with a Google rating of 4.1 should definitely give us something to think about. Unfortunately, the negative reviews are commented on with standard answers; you don't get the feeling that the criticism is really taken seriously. The reaction to our criticism regarding the additional drinks and very high, unexpected aperitif and digestive prices were dismissed with a rather embarrassing apology. If you look at the reviews, however, our review was by no means the first of its kind. Significantly, there was also a negative review about the high drinks prices 10 months ago, which explicitly stated that this would be addressed prospectively in the future. Overall we would definitely not recommend visiting this restaurant as we left with a very negative feeling and a lot of frustration….

Very good food. As soon as you arrive you get a good selection of drinks. There are good desserts and warm dishes. But also plenty of space to sit. I can recommend this restaurant.

I ordered fried noodles with crispy duck and a spring roll (loempia) through Lieferando. The food we ordered was a very good and large portion. The duck breast was juicy and crispy at the same time. The spring roll was simply amazing! Also a good portion. When I picked it up I was greeted very nicely and the employees were very friendly! I would order from there again and again. I will definitely try the buffet.

A true delight of Chinese cuisine! My lunch at City Garden was a completely successful experience and far exceeded my expectations. The wonton soup was already a promising start - a clear, tasty broth with tender, filled dumplings. The absolute highlight, however, was the Kung Bao duck. The tender, fried duck meat literally melted in your mouth and harmonized perfectly with the delicious, perfectly balanced Kung Bao sauce. The fresh, crunchy, steamed vegetables formed a wonderful contrast. This dish was absolutely harmonious and pampered my palate in the most pleasant way. A big compliment to the chef for this masterful creation! The second dish, the chicken with peanut sauce, was also a hit. It impressed with its flavors and the quality of the ingredients. This delicious lunch was rounded off by the attentive and friendly service of the waitress. Their willingness to help contributed significantly to the pleasant atmosphere. Overall, I can recommend a visit to the City Garden restaurant. Authentic, high-quality Chinese cuisine prepared with attention to detail awaits you here. I'll definitely be back!

The food is very tasty! Gladly again!

I love it. I go there often and have never been disappointed. When I come, I'm greeted warmly and they already know what I'm taking. Always have to laugh.

Food: Meat baked greasy, dry and inedible.Sweet/sour sauce too thin.Peanut sauce thick and not enough. Service: Service was too hectic, despite complaining about inedible meat and returning nothing in compensation. Ambiance is ok, just a bit old-fashioned and there is a strong smell of frying oil in the dining area. Because the complaint wasn't taken seriously and there was no compensation, we'll never come back. Annoying to have spent almost €80 on it.

Friendly, family service and the food was really good

Just as tasty as it used to be in Schermbeck. /Update 1/27/25 Unfortunately, the 2x20 minute drive from Schermbeck is no longer really worth it. Spring rolls tasted like old fat, the main courses only seemed to contain a mix of vegetables with a more or less modified basic sauce and, completely new to the program, there was what felt like 100ml of oil per portion in the sauce. They've healed for now - a shame.

The Hot Pot House leaves me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, the hot pot tastes really good, but on the other hand, there's a lot that could be improved in terms of the ambiance and service. The restaurant is located in a former pub. I like that most of the interior furnishings have been preserved from the days of the past, but some useful modifications are missing, such as an extractor fan, which is common in hot pot restaurants in neighboring towns. It was also quite chilly in the restaurant. The service was unfortunately poor. The waiter barely communicated with us. He was solely responsible for the entire restaurant, which made it difficult for him to keep up with his tasks. I especially would have liked the waiter to briefly ask us at the beginning if we were already familiar with hot pot and to explain the restaurant's concept. I think the biggest problem is probably their desire to cut down on staff. The ingredients for the hot pot are listed on a laminated card. You are given a marker and can check off which ingredients and drinks you would like to order. Unfortunately, this doesn't work seamlessly. The wait times are sometimes long, and not everything ordered was always brought to my table. I also wish the drinks had been kept cold beforehand or at least served with ice cubes. On the other hand, I was impressed by the broths. Both the spicy and the beef broth were very good. Overall, the food tasted good. The ice cream for dessert was also delicious. The hot pot house offers delicious food, but the service and ambiance leave a lot to be desired. I hope the criticism is taken to heart, as many of the points mentioned are also mentioned in the other reviews.

Boiled rice with chop suey and chicken and vegetables as a side dish tastes really good 👍
