Great food when every table is occupied, but the noise level is quite high

A new star in the Hamburg brasserie sky The brasserie Tortue is part of the newly opened design hotel Tortue on the Stadthausbrücke in Hamburg. The 130-year-old building was transformed into one of the city's most interesting hotels by British architect Sir David Chipperfield. In addition to the brasserie, it has another Asian restaurant and a stylish bar in the building's stairwell. The brasserie is French and very stylishly decorated. The focus is on the open kitchen, in which Carsten von der Heyde and Christoph Schmah, a team experienced in top-class gastronomy, work. The spatial separation of Bar-Noir and brasserie creates a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere that makes it possible to enjoy first-class, freshly prepared brasserie cuisine with quiet background music and quick service. We really enjoyed watching the highly concentrated kitchen team at work. The foie gras with fermented pepper was perfectly prepared and served at an optimal temperature - that's how France tastes! The crispy suckling pig belly with creamy savoy cabbage and tortoise mashed potatoes impressed with its taste and texture - it was served with a heavenly tasting, perfectly reduced jus - finally delicious sauce in sufficient quantities. The Iberico pork chop also impressed with its taste and quality. Tender, juicy meat, a wonderfully aromatic edge of fat and roasted aromas were pure enjoyment. The evening in the brasserie Tortue was undoubtedly one of the culinary highlights of our trip to Hamburg. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the city and a new favorite place for us. The Hotel Tortue makes us very curious and is at the top of our list for our next visit to Hamburg. If you are unlucky with the weather in Hamburg again, you will definitely be provided with first-class culinary options here...

A fantastic view over the harbor and a wonderful sunset rounded off the excellent, delicate meal. A nice ambience was included and conveyed a feeling of well-being

Unfreundlicher, wortkarger Service, man hatte den Eindruck, als Gast lästig zu sein; aus vergangenen Jahren war man Besseres gewöhnt. Fischgericht war nicht durchgegart.
