Very pleasant, small restaurant on the lively Venloer Straße. Offer like in a French brasserie, good quality, reasonable prices. Crevettes on rice were great, great boiled beef as it should be (it looks gray in the photo, but it was really great). Good cocktails (especially the Negroni!). Small but interesting wine list. Friendly service. Recommendation!
If you want authentic and delicious Croatian food you have to go here! Really delicious food, nice service and fair prices. A must again the next time you visit Cologne! Thanks
The ambiance in the restaurant and the service are really good.
Unfortunately, the other factors didn't really convince us.
The prices in the restaurant are more expensive than online, and the menu excerpt wasn't available either.
The first wine we ordered was sold out, and the second wine was no longer available.
The fish soup costs €31!!! And it contains a maximum of two types of fish and a few scampi. For that price, I expect more variety and better quality.
The vitello tonato was unfortunately cut too thickly.
The pasta with fillet tips wasn't fillet in my opinion. However, the service was extremely friendly and immediately removed the dish from the bill.
In summary, unfortunately, not a particularly special experience for that price.
Price-wise it is very reasonable. We are also satisfied with the food. Only my apple spritzer tastes like beer - the glasses probably weren't cleaned particularly thoroughly.
Discovered spontaneously during a visit to Cologne and dined there in a group of 6. Everyone enjoyed the food on offer, definitely one of the better pizzas you can get. The pasta dishes were also very tasty. I would be happy to come back on the next visits to Cologne, which occur more often.
The pizza is great, I even eat the crust. One of the best pizzas in Cologne!
However, there are only two small tables, everything is geared towards takeaway.
We were in Cologne for an exam and decided on the Helenenhof because of the good reviews.
We made a reservation at very short notice and our dog was also very welcome. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. In the front area there is a small, cozy pub/bar and the room behind it is visually appealing and “cozy” furnished. We felt very comfortable.
Normally I don't write reviews, but in addition to the top service and the feel-good factor, there's also the top food!
The portions are decent and it was more than just delicious! The steak was on point (medium rare) and buttery soft. The beef strips were also cooked through as desired and still tender. There was also a salad with a delicious, homemade dressing!
We also ordered pasta “to go” and this dish was also a delight!
I would say that anyone who comes to Cologne should plan a visit to the Helenengarten! 5 stars from us ⭐️
The location is great, high room of a former church, tasteful furnishings. Good, fine, if not very creative cuisine - at least some nice sweetbreads. But the best thing was the anchovy on honey bread as an amuse gueule! - Fair range of drinks. A little wooden service, but ok. Price-performance ratio is also fair. Overall recommended!
I am already aware that images as advertising do not correspond to the truth. I still find it more than outrageous given the price of €18.50. 7 lettuce leaves and yellowed parsley. There are no real vegetables to be seen, like in the picture. Unfortunately, the employee could hardly speak any German.
The cigköfte are really small. These mainly taste like tomato paste.
We ate a wrap there every now and then, but after today we'll leave that alone. They were always okay. From now on we prefer to drive 10 minutes longer towards Kalk or Mülheim. Fresh, homemade food is offered there, with homemade bread. The portions are larger and you get almost a whole head of lettuce. Of course even for 5 euros less. Very questionable. I would actually like my money back.
No more recommendation from me.
On Holy Saturday we were there for the third time this year and it was again a pleasure of the highest quality.
My favorite is the onion braised roast (rump steak with very tasty braised onions) with a handmade rösti. Simply delicious.
And if you want to eat a good homemade Bolognese with pasta, you should do that there too.
The whole thing is rounded off with excellent wines.
