Definitely 5 stars.
The service is very friendly and fast. The food is delicious; I've rarely eaten such a good steak.
Highly recommended. Quality you can see and taste.
We've been there twice in the last month and have been impressed each time.
A hidden gem close to the English Garden ! Super warm and attentive staff, excellent food plus the best homemade tiramisu in town. This is a family run restaurant for 37 years now, amazing 🤩
We arrived at the restaurant with great anticipation and were, unfortunately, more disappointed than ever. The food was generally completely unsatisfactory. We ordered a tomahawk and a rump steak. They came with several side dishes. The side dishes were served first, and the meat arrived about 10 minutes later. The rump steak had to be returned twice because it was not cooked to medium either time. We were charged €170 for the tomahawk (1500 grams). However, after inspecting the meat, we quickly noticed that the cooked meat, including the bones, was unfortunately far from the stated 1500 grams. The side dishes were all cold, and the Mediterranean vegetables were actually still frozen in the middle. When we asked the waitress, who was understanding and very cooperative, to speak to the manager, we were unfortunately put off. The waitress replied, "The manager does not want to comment on this, as he might use words he would not want to utter in front of guests." When we returned the food several times, asking for the steak to be cooked further or the vegetables to be heated more, we heard loud complaints from the kitchen. Of course, we tried to make the most of the food and eat it as best we could, knowing we would have to pay the full price (€285). Unfortunately, we weren't offered a nightcap afterward due to the high price. The quality of the meat was okay, but all in all, it was unfortunately far too expensive for the quality of the food we received.
In conclusion: the best thing about the evening was the white bread with herb butter. If I had the choice, I wouldn't have paid more than €100.
I, a 36-year-old man, spent the first time in my life exploring a hut, including overnight accommodation.
Arrival and Departure:
To Mittenwald by train and a leisurely 3-hour walk through the rain over the Leitersteig to the Brunnsteinhütte. Thanks to a rain poncho from Gardaland, it was no problem.
To the valley, I took the shortest route, goose-stepping; despite the rain, 1 hour and 15 minutes was doable, but it was very quick.
Hut:
The hut team was great, cheerful, and motivated.
Although the guys and girls had to endure a day off at the hut due to bad weather.
The dormitory was very clean and tidy.
Thanks to the bad weather, only 5 overnight guests.
EXTRA
(Best wishes to Frankfurt and Dresden, it was a great evening and a lovely breakfast!)
EXTRA END
Laundry facilities were sufficient and clean!
Food: Yes, the food costs 2 euros more than in the valley, and rightly so! We consider transport, staff, and infrastructure.
Absolutely fair.
Well-seasoned, delicious, and honest.
A little tip: try the cake!
Many thanks to the Brunnsteinhütte team and its guests for the wonderful night in the hut!
See you next time, then for a hut tour with my sons.
We went in without a reservation right after the restaurant opened at 5:30 PM, and although there were a lot of reservations, we were able to eat right away because we arrived early. The food was delicious and the service was good.
The hotel itself is quite decent and modern, but unfortunately, our overall experience was disappointing due to the attitude of the front desk staff. After a long day on the road, we decided to stay, although the reception was far from welcoming. When we politely asked if they could match a better price we found on Booking.com, the response was unexpectedly curt — we were told we could look elsewhere if we weren’t happy. There was no fridge in the room, and during our two-night stay, housekeeping never came by. This is not the level of service one would expect from a business hotel. If you have the chance, it may be worth exploring other nearby options.
