We visited Kuro Neku in Bamberg on a Monday evening, and to our surprise, we were the only guests dining in. Instead of feeling awkward, it actually created a relaxed, almost VIP-like atmosphere—quiet, personal, and with incredibly attentive service.
Before the dinner got started with our chosen menus we received a complimentary well balanced coconut soup. The following courses of our menu were well chosen higlighting ingredients and dishes of the christmas season. Every course felt thoughtfully prepared and nicely portioned.
Overall, Kuro Neku delivered a surprisingly intimate dining experience paired with delicious local seasonal and fusioned with Japanese dishes. If you’re looking for great food in a calm setting—especially on a Monday—this place is absolutely worth a visit. Oh and PS... we had the wine pairing which of course was also curated to the finest and made the experience and dinner even more relaxed and delightful.
Very interesting and appealing decor. Open kitchen. Friendly and attentive staff. It was my first time there, and I felt like I belonged. The food was very good; I'll be back.
It feels like they've been trying to squeeze out every penny they can in the last few months before the closure.
The food was okay, but ridiculous for the prices.
The food was very poorly presented.
The sauces were consistently too runny; my companion had the veal with white truffle, for almost €60.
The veal was too cold, lacked color, and lacked flavor.
I had the Wagyu beef, which wasn't really tender for Wagyu, with a side dish of vegetables that was too thick, drowning out any flavor of the meat.
For the appetizer, we had to wait far too long for the wine. I had already ordered my wine while my companion was still waiting for a recommendation. The food was already served, but neither my wine nor the recommendation had arrived.
- At least the appetizers couldn't get cold -
Lastly, we had the 'JJ Prüm Kabi,' which neither of us liked. More air would certainly have done him good, but it's not included in the rating.
A bill for €292, excluding tips, is no fun with mistakes like these.
Friendly and helpful. The food is really good, and in warm weather the terraces, especially the one by the water near the city moat, are a very pleasant place to be.
