Not recommended. Meat has been there for a long time, is not fresh and is also full of flies, which spoils your appetite and on top of that they put onions in it even though I specifically said no onions.
Elegant, yet free…
…that's the motto of the Bamberg restaurant Edelfrei. The fact that a restaurant in an 18th-century sandstone building has chosen a flamingo as its logo shows that creative minds are at work here. This is also evident in the restaurant itself, where everything is done in a friendly, yet relaxed and leisurely manner. With kingfish ceviche as a starter, a delicious fish dish with fennel and broccoli as a main course, and three scoops of ice cream, including a spectacular Mexican vanilla flavor, guests could create their own delightful evening from the menu in December. And even those who don't want a full meal are welcome in the former palace of the Barons von Aufseß – a noble family with a free ancestry – because the front of the restaurant features a wine café-bar where wine novices and connoisseurs alike are warmly welcomed.
The ambiance was positive, but everything else was fine, yet ultimately unacceptable. It started with us standing at the entrance like we'd been booked but never picked up. Our drink orders were taken promptly, which was good. The salad as a starter was also good. However, apparently, bringing plates was too much to ask. We ordered two pizzas that were doughy, as were the pizza rolls. The lasagna was essentially just a lump of cheese. My filet was unsalted and far from medium-rare. It could have been a dry piece of pork loin. The vegetables, however, were tasty.
All in all, I don't understand the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Perhaps it's because many of the guests are acquaintances. At least, that was the impression we got.
It wasn't possible to get separate checks or even to ask about them.
Will we come back? Absolutely not. The food simply wasn't good enough.
The best vegan schnitzel I've ever eaten! The fries were delicious, and the homemade ketchup was also very tasty. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was fantastic (even for our children). Highly recommended!
We found this restaurant through a coupon book and were accepted without any problems. The service was very friendly, and we started with a small bowl of olives and two slices of garlic bread. Our drinks arrived very quickly. However, that's when the evening took a turn for the worse. We had ordered and had to wait an hour before the waiter told us he'd completely forgotten to send our order to the kitchen. We were given a complimentary ouzo, and after another 10 minutes, our food finally arrived. It tasted very good initially—very garlicky, but good. We then ordered a chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream, which was also very good.
On the drive home, both my wife and I had a strange feeling in our stomachs. Unfortunately, we had been struggling with stomach problems all night. I don't know what it was, but we must have eaten something we didn't tolerate well. It's a real shame, as the waiter had really gone out of his way to help because of the Fopaux coupon book, apologized several times, and the food was definitely delicious. I have to rate this entire stay, including the extra time, and therefore, unfortunately, I can only give our visit 2 stars overall. Perhaps we'll return sometime and give the Mythos restaurant another chance. Then I'll adjust the rating. For now, however, this is the impression/experience that stands.
Even our telephone reservation for our family lunch was handled with the utmost friendliness. Our party of 12 enjoyed a delicious and creatively presented lunch in the cozy, separate, and lovingly decorated dining room. The appetizers, main course, and finally the delectable dessert were all praised. The service was attentive and friendly. We will gladly return.
