We made a special reservation for a knuckle dinner at Wildschütz today at 8 p.m. (due to the many positive reviews). After we were finally able to get to our table at 8:15 p.m., we were informed that roast pork and knuckle were out ☹☹☹. Unfortunately, that's what happened to half the restaurant in the later reservation round. Since we didn't want to eat the overpriced tapas, we only had a schnitzel. The food was always ok and carelessly “thrown” onto the plate. Ok at the ski hut, a no go in the restaurant. It doesn't deserve the label Wiener Schnitzel. You had to order a side salad separately. The disappointment was of course great, the service didn't help us to pick us up better (statement: unlucky, too late). Everything quickly, mass processing, tourist shed (lots of foreign guests - that's enough). Actually a nice, rustic restaurant with an atmosphere. Unfortunately, the attention to detail is missing and is certainly no longer necessary. What a shame!

The food was very good, the service was very friendly and relaxed. When we were there, the hut was really packed. Our main course still came quickly, but we had to wait a little longer for our dessert and were already afraid that we had been forgotten. We would still like to come back! Maybe we'd better reserve a table in advance.

Wonderful place which celebrates German, Austrian and Bavarian cuisine to the utmost. They had the great idea to serve some of the heavier meat dishes in the form of Tapas, which are still quite big but gives one the option of ordering more. Nothing for Vegans but great for meat lovers. Would definitely go again if in the area.

Unfortunately a big disappointment for us today! We visited the restaurant because of its overall good reviews, which unfortunately we cannot understand. I had ordered a pork knuckle with dumplings and red cabbage, which was on the table after a few minutes. The crust in particular was so salty that it was simply not edible. But the meat wasn't really juicy or tasty either. Because of the complaint, the waitress in the kitchen asked and we were told that the apprentice had apparently made a mistake with the salt. The boss then asked another guest at a neighboring table, who also had knuckle, whether that was also the case with his meal, which he confirmed. In between, the waitress offered me a “schnapps” as compensation. The boss then came to us again - which was at least a gesture of effort - and explained to us that the chef had tried the crust on other knuckles and that they were okay - that is - only mine and the neighbor's were Apparently a little too much salt was applied. Sorry - but she would have better saved herself such nonsense. Especially since the sauce on the roast pork that my wife ate was also very low in salt. The “compensation” from the Obstler was redeemed when the full bill was paid - even if only one for me. In short - not for us again. I took a closer look at the reviews overall and was wondering whether they came from the many dog ​​owners who are really happy when their pet is given water and treats before the guests receive their drinks.

Great store! We love the concept of Bavarian tapas. If you can't decide or something was really good, just reorder. :-) Dogs are not only accepted, but very welcome. Immediately gave a bowl of treats. Highly recommended and we will definitely come back.

I’ve eaten here every time I have visited Garmisch and it has always been great. This was the first time I ordered the Crispy Pork Knuckle…I will never eat this anywhere else but here! It was hands down the best I’ve had across a number of locations throughout Germany. Don’t miss out on this place!

Simply class. We had lunch here (Thursday around 1 p.m.). We got two seats straight away, were served very nicely and the food was also very good. We'll be back on Sunday evening! Addendum from Sunday's visit: Sensational! The restaurant was packed to capacity and yet the boss and her people worked calmly, quickly and with clarity. The knuckle was awesome! Thank you for the very loving service!

We booked the lunch table for 20:00, on the terrace. We arrived at 19:55 and were told to wait another 5-10 minutes. We waited another 35 minutes until the reserved table was released, to be told that the crispy pork knuckle, for which we had come, was finished. At 20:00 they still had it, but after 35 minutes of waiting for those who had occupied the table before to finish talking, without consuming anything, the knuckle was over, and our 35-minute wait was in vain, it was a big mockery. They managed to totally ruin our evening, because we had no more feasible alternatives, and for dinner it would have been too late, given that most restaurants close the kitchen earlier

Even though restaurant is nice, the waiters behave very inconsiderately and disrespectfully. Instead of losing your money to people who don't know how to treat customers, you can easily find much better restaurants in the same style.

If you're in the mood for a gastronomic adventure that requires patience and humor, you've come to the right place. While everyone at the table was already enjoying their drinks, my wine was obviously still waiting for its taxi. When asked, they just said politely: "He'll come." Maybe he arrived by night train? The fries on my plate seemed to follow a secret diet plan - no sooner were they there than they were gone. When I pointed out the microscopic portion, it wasn't added, but of course it was calculated. When I commented on the bill there was only a terse “I can’t understand it”. Maybe I should have taken a photo, but that certainly wouldn't have been possible as quickly as the fries disappeared. To top it all off, I was generously offered a schnapps at the end, which I was only allowed to enjoy alone. The others at the table probably didn't deserve sympathy. If only they had been so generous when ordering - but unfortunately a lot of things were already gone. Conclusion: For anyone looking for a glass of wine that takes their time and fries that hide, an absolute must!

The waiting time for the food from the moment of accepting the order to the moment when the dish appears on the table was pleasantly impressive. And so it is better to order a table in advance, especially if you have a large company.

We were there for lunch at lunchtime. We did it at our own request, which was taken in a very relaxed manner by the lady in service. The small map offers, among other things: local dishes and “Bavarian tapas”, as well as tarte flambée. The food was served quickly. The service was very attentive, child-friendly and very nice. Priced a little higher, but not excessive. Absolute recommendation.

We were kicked out of the restaurant by the unfriendly boss I have ever experienced. With racist comments just because we have a different skin color. When we complained we were threatened with the police. Horrible words were thrown at us! My children have been very disturbed since this incident! I hope that the report we made to the police also has an effect... :(

Zum Wildschütz is one of the traditional Bavarian restaurants in Garmisch. The atmosphere is very cozy and the food has been of very good quality for many years. There is a very innovative menu with Bavarian classics and modern takes on Bavarian cuisine. The employees are always very friendly and helpful, which also applies to the host couple. The landlady in particular is very warm. There is a beer garden, access is barrier-free and the prices are absolutely reasonable. Highly recommended.

We visited about 4pm and the restaurant is still busy. I’m grateful they offered us a waitlist option, as the group behind us was turned away due to the restaurant being busy. While I typically don’t mind outdoor seating, the presence of flies made it less enjoyable. Although the waiters are kind, the service was slow throughout our visit, from receiving the menu to being served and paying the bill. The spätzle I ordered was tasty, but I’ll recommended to order something different unless you weren't hungry as the portion isn't big.

An absolute highlight right in the center of Garmisch. Great service: friendly and very fast. Even without a reservation you can try your luck here and in the worst case scenario you will be seated at the table with other people, which is simply part of Bavarian cosiness. The food is Bavarian through and through. The Bavarian tapas are particularly recommended: almost all main dishes are served in small portions. Here you can try several local specialties at once. We had the ox cheeks, the onion roast, the veal meatballs and the Obaza. Everything was really tasty and the homemade Kaiserschmarn almost didn't fit in at the end. It was also very easy to start talking to the other guests at the table. All in all a top experience. 👍 But rather unsuitable for vegetarians.

FANTASTIC! We ate at Wildschütz twice during our vacation. The food is super good. We ate the Bavarian tapas, so we were able to try a lot... and everything was very good (everything fresh and homemade)! Our daughter was also able to test a lot. We also really liked the atmosphere. Since the weather was good, we had a nice sit in the beer garden, but the restaurant also looked very inviting. The service was great! All the employees were incredibly friendly and some requests for changes were easily possible. If you like Bavarian delicacies, this is the right place for you. If we are in the area again, we will definitely come back.
