Very tasty food with decent portions, a hearty Bavarian atmosphere without Alpine kitsch romance in a beautiful 18th century farmhouse and the service was also fantastic. Absolutely recommended if you are looking for a traditional and charming restaurant.

One of the best schnitzel/cordon bleu eaten there. Nice little beer garden. Beautiful atmosphere inside. When we're back in town, we'll definitely come back. Attention: only cash payment was possible.

A real insider tip! Don't let the outside scare you and go inside. The food is very tasty and it may take a little longer, but almost everything is made fresh! Great coleslaw with bacon, mega knuckle and great schnitzel! Quaint but very good!

WOW, the food is absolutely amazing! Everything is cooked with fresh ingredients. The restaurant is located in a building from 1735, which was built from stones from the ruins of Werdenfels Knight's Castle. The landlord runs the restaurant together with his wife and they have everything under control. Please expect a bit of a wait when it's busy, but it's definitely worth it! Thanks for the great hospitality!

Rustic and historic atmosphere and you can actually get a seat even during peak hours. So a real insider tip. We were there on our last vacation years ago and now again. Food (especially the knuckle and the horseradish schnitzel) was really, really tasty as always! So I've been there several times a week and that's saying something. The innkeeper is super nice and totally unobtrusive. A very clear recommendation. Kind regards and see you next time 😊

Initially not a busy place but more people arrived after 8pm. There was a mix of local and tourists. Unusually quite but with more people arriving the atmosphere was lovely. The spinach dumpling was a little dense but the Kass Spaetzle was lovely. The pork haxn was well sized. Personally would have cooked the skin (crackling) a little longer. Meals where nice overall and huge in size. No credit card accepted.

Why are there so few reviews here! All the restaurants with 1000+ reviews were full and we walked into this place by chance. Everything is very tasty and atmospheric. Recommendation: schnitzel with horseradish if you eat spicy food.

I am sure the food is great at least it looks great but i didn’t get a table because I went alone…. Three groups behind me got a table although they didnt have a reservation. Understandable from business perspective. Bad experience from customer perspective.

The restaurant is lovely decorated in Bavarian rustic style and it's as cozy as can get. The atmosphere is welcoming, it's spacious and not overcrowded, very relaxed. The staff is very friendly and efficient. But the food bits it all! I had the best pork knuckle I ever tasted! The skin was crispy but easy to eat, the meet was juicy and tested incredible, the portion size was generous. The potato salad and cabbage were delicious too. And Getman wine tasted very good too! We were very happy with this choice. Will defenatly visit again when in Bavaria.

Cozy charming place with wonderful food. We have been 4 times in 2 visits to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and always enjoy the vibe and dishes. This is not a place to come if you are in a hurry (that is a good thing). Come and relax and enjoy good drinks and food. If you like the bite of horse radish, try the horse radish stuffed schnitzel. The cordon bleu schnitzel is not to be missed!!! Dog friendly. English menus available. Only change I would make is to add a dessert menu. Note that it is cash only.

Wonderful German restaurant delicious food and cozy atmosphere. My sister had the Spinach dumpling spaghetti and my mom and other sister shared the Deer goulash with red cabbage. I had the unbelievably yummy Kasespatzel German version of Mac and Cheese!! Love the roasted fried onions on top.

Aufgrund von Personalmangels war der Service - wie vom Wirt angekündigt - etwas langsam. Klassische lokale Auswahl an Speisen. Die Käsespätzle waren nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht besonders. Der Käse könnte für unseren Geschmack etwas stärker sein.

War heute zum ersten Mal dort und ich war sehr begeistert 👍 werde bestimmt wieder dort auftauchen 😋

We went here the other night food was FANTASTIC! I had the Münchner schnitzel which was so stuffed with horseradish that I thought that it was cabbage. I didn't know it was even legal to have that much horse radish in one's possession let alone put it in one serving of food. It tasted amazing! ESPECIALLY with the little lemon wedge squeezed over it. To DIE FOR. However one particular bite mid meal made me tear up and I swear I could feel the power of the horseradish radiating into my SPINE through my esophagus. Well My husband thought I was a whimp and took a bite 3x the size of mine (which is really saying something as I don't eat dainty). What ensued, well I almost died laughing. I was wheezing until my sides hurt. We were both crying for diffirent reasons. I think the people at the next table thought he was breaking up with me. 10/10 best tasting food I've had in Germany in the 6 months I've been here. My husband had the Venison Goulash. Which was less potent, and less entertaining but so flavorful and tender. Loved it Go here and order anything on the menu. It's brilliant. I would def go again and order the SAME THING! if you get the Münchner schnitzel respect and fear the horseradish or it will kick ya in the lungs like the animal it's named after.

Sehr leckeres Essen :) kleines, familiäres Restaurant mit uriger Einrichtung. Unsere speisen waren alle frisch zubereitet und trotzdem zügig fertig. Freundliche und sympathische Bedienung. Jederzeit wieder!

Das Essen war sehr, sehr lecker und reichlich. Es war alles frisch und hausgemacht. Sehr moderate Preise und der Wirt, der alles alleine stemmt, war ausgesprochen freundlich und schnell. Er macht das in einer ruhigen herzlichen Art, was sehr angenehm ist. Das Lokal besticht natürlich durch seine schöne Decke und teilweise alten "Einzelheiten ", könnte aber ein bisschen "Auffrischung" vertragen. Insgesamt aber nur zu empfehlen. Wir waren schon mal da und kommen weiterhin.

Das Münchner Schnitzel ist hier wirklich etwas Besonderes. Teilweise trieb es mir Tränen in die Augen, aber es war ein Geschmackserlebnis. Ambiente und Service sind auch spitze.

Die Pommes meiner Frau waren versalzen. Das Schnitzel zu dunkel gebacken. Meine Haxe war trocken und hier ist das Salz wohl vergessen worden.

Sehr gutes Restaurant, mit schönem Ambiente. Besonders zu empfehlen sind Zwiebelrostbraten, Roulade und Spinatknödel.

Wir waren heute zum Abendessen dort. Das Restaurant ist in einem Gewölbe und sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Man wird dort sehr nett empfangen und das Essen ( Jägerschnitzel und Cordon Bleu) war super lecker. Auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen 😊

Essen war mega lecker, nichts auszusetzen! Man muss ein bisschen Zeit mitbringen aber es lohnt sich definitiv! Preis-Leistung Top und sehr große Portionen.

Um gut bayrisch Essen zu gehen, war dieses Lokal defintiv die richitge Entscheidung. Die hausgemachten (unter anderem vegetarische) Speisen waren super lecker und vervollständigten den Charme des urigen Restaurants. Auch der Kellner war sehr freundlich. Gerne wieder!

Sehr schönes, uriges Lokal am Rande der Fußgängerzone. Der Wirt ist sehr freundlich und fix unterwegs. Lange Wartezeit auf Speisen und Getränke? Definitiv nicht. Das es hier "nur" eine kleine Speisekarte gibt ist überhaupt nicht schlimm, im Gegenteil, ich brauche keine 50 Gerichte auf der Karte. Bei der Auswahl kann auch jeder was finden. Wir hatten den Krustenbraten und das Münchner Schnitzel, beides war geschmacklich absolute Spitze. War mit Sicherheit nicht der letzte Besuch dort. Jetzt waren wir ein 2. Mal dort und wurden wieder nicht enttäuscht 👍👍👍 Wer in Garmisch is(s)t sollte das unbedingt mal im Goldenen Engel tun.

Wunderschönes uriges Gasthaus, die Einrichtung gleicht einer Zeitreise. Das Essen der Service ist einfach super (die besten Bratkartoffeln die wir bisher gegessen haben)! Alles in allem einfach nur empfehlenswert 🤩

Dieses Restaurant ist wundervoll. Urgemütlich, typisch für die Region und das Essen ist nur mit wahnsinnig lecker zu betiteln. Wir waren höchst beeindruckt, dass, obwohl nur 2 Mitarbeiter anwesend waren, der "Laden" scheinbar reibungslos lief.
