This restaurant is beautiful inside. Great ambiance and surroundings. The gentleman running everything was amazing and was very accommodating. A good experience and I would definitely recommend.

Three of us ate there today. All I can say is, it was fantastic! The food was incredibly delicious and the portions were quite generous! The owner was very friendly and accommodating! We'll definitely be back!

The two of us spontaneously stopped by Isi's Goldener Engel – a real insider tip! The restaurant is somewhat hidden away, which is nice because it's not as crowded as many other restaurants in Garmisch. You immediately sense that the business is family-run. The owner was very friendly and genuinely tried to ensure that guests didn't overindulge – someone at the next table wanted to order a whole knuckle of pork, whereupon the owner kindly pointed out that it weighed over 1 kg. In the end, the guest took half and was well served. The atmosphere is rustic, with an almost village-like feel – and that's entirely in a positive way. Payment is only in cash, and even though we got a table without a reservation, I would recommend reserving in advance. The food: I had the roast beef with spaetzle, and my companion had the venison goulash. Both were excellently prepared, perfectly cooked, and very tasty. The portions are more than sufficient. Conclusion: A warmly run inn with an authentic atmosphere, delicious food, and fair portions. Highly recommended!

The food was plentiful and tasty. The ambiance has a rustic Bavarian feel and is a bit dark, but it fits well with the overall atmosphere. The only thing that kept me from giving it a better rating is that neither my wife nor I felt comfortable there due to all the dogs around us. The owner's cat was the icing on the cake. We believe animals have no place in a restaurant. Therefore, it's a great place for animal lovers!

I went there twice within four days while on vacation - because it was just so great! Vegan option: potato salad and mixed salad, so incredibly delicious with various salads (white cabbage, red cabbage, carrot, radish, etc.) - and the service was amazing :) and the light beer was so delicious :) I'd go back anytime!! There were other vegetarian dishes. And a friend had the onion roast beef twice because it was so good.

Everything here is soooo delicious. The roast beef with onions and salad were amazing, and the beer was simply fantastic. Wolfgang is super nice, accommodates your requests, and makes your stay truly enjoyable! I would love to eat here every day!! The value for money is definitely there.

The food was truly outstanding! Generous portions of very good quality. The sauerkraut and bread dumplings were among the best I've ever eaten. The service is typically Bavarian, with plenty of warmth and enthusiasm. I will definitely return and can recommend it to anyone who enjoys Bavarian cuisine.

My wife and I ate and drank here three times and always had good entertainment. We had the knuckles, very large and extremely tasty, then the venison ragout, very tasty, enough meat with dumpling sauce and red cabbage, then the cordon bleu was simply a delight. Meine Frau und ich haben hier dreimal sehr gut gegessen, getrunken und immer eine gute Unterhaltung erhalten. Wir hatten die Haxen sehr groß und äußerst lecker, dann das Hirschragout sehr lecker ausreichend Fleisch mit Knödel Soße und Rotkraut, dann das Cordon Bleu einfach ein Genuss. Die Bewirtung von dem freundlichem Wirtsehepaar, können sich im Ort so einige andere ein paar Scheiben von abschneiden. Wir sehr zufrieden und bestimmt mal wieder. In the second row there is a rustic restaurant with traditional Bavarian cuisine. You can tell that the cooking here is made with love and the portions are large. The food is also tasty. There are a few vegetarian dishes. I recommend the salad with goat cheese and raspberry dressing. The Cordon Bleu with a spicy cheese filling is also very tasty.

Quaint restaurant in the middle of Garmisch. Very friendly and attentive service; dignified ambience (a must-see) and delicious food with huge portions. We had coleslaw and pancake soup beforehand and the spinach dumplings and a knuckle as the main course, although the dumpling was left out as a side dish... Wasn't manageable

Charming place tucked around a corner off the main road through downtown Garmisch Partenkirchen. Cute interior decor, very friendly service and good food after a long day of travel and hiking.

The restaurant is visually beautifully decorated and special. However, the food looks better than it tastes. I hope it was an exception, but the knuckle had a very strong taste of the fat used. The fried onions in the spaetzle also tasted like it. Price wise it was fair.

Today we were in Golden Engel for the umpteenth time. The historic inn is decorated with attention to detail. The dishes are freshly prepared and the portion sizes are “like mother’s”. All of this at reasonable prices. It was -once again- a pleasure to dine at the golden angel!

We ate venison goulash and spaetzle here. The spaetzle was ok. Unfortunately the meat was dry. The owner was friendly in his boyish way. For the price we would have expected a little more than average. The atmosphere is very old. We wouldn't come again.

Beautiful & stylish inn with very friendly hosts & great service! The food, as always when we are there, was super tasty and first class! We drive 150km just for this enjoyment, that says it all! The cordon bleu in particular is a dream 🥰🤩😋

We were guests at Isi's Goldener Engel with our travel group and everything was characterized by warmth from the first call to the last hello. We felt very comfortable and, without exception, everyone enjoyed it very much! Thank you very much for the lovely time. If we are in the area again we will definitely come back.

Wir kamen mit der Eishockeymannschaft (24Personen) und haben von den Wirtsleuten einen prima Pauschalpreis für 1 Essen +1 Getränk bekommen. Das Essen wurde schnell serviert und hat echt super lecker geschmeckt. Am allerbesten war aber das Münchner Schnitzel mit Meerrettich, dass hat uns ‚zu Tränen gerührt‘ 😉 Zum Schluss haben wir noch ein Schnapserl spendiert bekommen. Tolles Erlebnis - herzlichen Dank dafür 🙏

Bit hidden, but absolutely recommended, everything freshly cooked, super tasty, and very good prices! I don't go anywhere else to eat when I'm there. 10000000000000 stars from me on all counts😘😘

We actually only came to the golden angel by chance. But it was so great there that we only ate there for the next few days. It is beautiful from the outside, cozy and charming from the inside. The innkeepers are also incredibly nice and polite. If you have food allergies, they are considerate and try to find a solution. I can't even describe the food. Simply perfect!!! Very good ingredients are processed into very good portions and you can taste it. We tried everything from cheese spaetzle to knuckle - everything was incredibly tasty. In summary, I can only recommend the inn. We are already looking forward to the next time.

Service with a smile and excellent food and beer! Had the Münchner Schnitzel (unlike Weiner Art, this is filled with pickled horseradish), was warned it is spicy. But wow. That is spice! Nonetheless. Bloody delicious! I would recommend having this with Kartoffel Salat instead of Pommes Frites! Highly recommend.

A real insider tip! Don't let the outside scare you and go inside. The food is very tasty and it may take a little longer, but almost everything is made fresh! Great coleslaw with bacon, mega knuckle and great schnitzel! Quaint but very good!

WOW, the food is absolutely amazing! Everything is cooked with fresh ingredients. The restaurant is located in a building from 1735, which was built from stones from the ruins of Werdenfels Knight's Castle. The landlord runs the restaurant together with his wife and they have everything under control. Please expect a bit of a wait when it's busy, but it's definitely worth it! Thanks for the great hospitality!

Rustic and historic atmosphere and you can actually get a seat even during peak hours. So a real insider tip. We were there on our last vacation years ago and now again. Food (especially the knuckle and the horseradish schnitzel) was really, really tasty as always! So I've been there several times a week and that's saying something. Initially not a busy place but more people arrived after 8pm. There was a mix of local and tourists. Unusually quite but with more people arriving the atmosphere was lovely. The spinach dumpling was a little dense but the Kass Spaetzle was lovely. The pork haxn was well sized. Personally would have cooked the skin (crackling) a little longer. Meals where nice overall and huge in size. No credit card accepted.

Why are there so few reviews here! All the restaurants with 1000+ reviews were full and we walked into this place by chance. Everything is very tasty and atmospheric. Recommendation: schnitzel with horseradish if you eat spicy food.

I am sure the food is great at least it looks great but i didn’t get a table because I went alone…. Three groups behind me got a table although they didnt have a reservation. Understandable from business perspective. Bad experience from customer perspective.

The restaurant is lovely decorated in Bavarian rustic style and it's as cozy as can get. The atmosphere is welcoming, it's spacious and not overcrowded, very relaxed. The staff is very friendly and efficient. But the food bits it all! I had the best pork knuckle I ever tasted! The skin was crispy but easy to eat, the meet was juicy and tested incredible, the portion size was generous. The potato salad and cabbage were delicious too. And Getman wine tasted very good too! We were very happy with this choice. Will defenatly visit again when in Bavaria.

Cozy charming place with wonderful food. We have been 4 times in 2 visits to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and always enjoy the vibe and dishes. This is not a place to come if you are in a hurry (that is a good thing). Come and relax and enjoy good drinks and food. If you like the bite of horse radish, try the horse radish stuffed schnitzel. The cordon bleu schnitzel is not to be missed!!! Dog friendly. English menus available. Only change I would make is to add a dessert menu. Note that it is cash only.

Nice evening in a rustic atmosphere

Wonderful German restaurant delicious food and cozy atmosphere. My sister had the Spinach dumpling spaghetti and my mom and other sister shared the Deer goulash with red cabbage. I had the unbelievably yummy Kasespatzel German version of Mac and Cheese!! Love the roasted fried onions on top.
