The atmosphere was cold and too loud. Poor acoustics. We didn't eat anything and left very quickly.

I've been here several times and have never been disappointed. One of the best restaurants in Freiburg, in my opinion.

Stopped here by chance for lunch. We were greeted very friendly by the boss personally. We received great advice and the boss wasn't at a loss for a joke. The beer was great and the food was delicious. The chef has been in the house for a long time and it shows. A little tip: we were lucky enough to be able to choose from the lunch menu. There is a very good selection at a very good price-performance ratio. We are full and happy.

Small homely restaurant. If you have a large group, you might want to make a reservation. There are four seats at the counter and a total of 5 large dining tables. We have a strict, Baden cuisine and a + selection of steaks, sirloin steak, rump steak and an Argentine beef steak. These are served with herb butter and fries, with a small side salad. We ordered two steaks and a spaetzle cheese pan. The steaks were ordered medium rare, one steak was unfortunately well done, and my steak was bloody. Since I generally like bloody, that wasn't a bad thing for me. We also fed it back into the kitchen. However, we were not offered anything or there was no accommodation for the steak that was served incorrectly. We were traveling with a regular of this restaurant. Considering the prices, I think it's a shame that they didn't accommodate us here. I know some people use such a scam and I find it absolutely disgusting and disgusting. However, we also showed our steaks and it was clear that they did not correspond to our order. The steak itself and the side dishes and fries were excellent. Especially in such a small restaurant, I would have liked better customer service or a more serious approach to the matter.

The steak was cooked to perfection, the sauce was amazing and please..please try the fried potatoes. proper south german food. the host is super attentive and kind. The atmosphere is great, the location is perfect.

A quaint inn with delicious food! Ideal for a visit after an SC home game! Delicious food, nice people and the innkeeper and head waiter always keep the place running! Servicio no bienvenido en ABSOLUTO: camarero gritando a la gente si eran una pareja en lugar de grupos más grandes. La factura es demasiado cara en comparación con la mala calidad de la comida y los muebles básicos. Desde un punto de vista social, era digno. Ladies wanted to eat haxe. Been here for that. Was very tasty, schnitzel and cordon bleu were also good. It was quite busy, but we were still able to get a seat even though we had not made a reservation. Thanks again for this. Friendly service. We would love to come back if we are in the area again.

Restaurant discovered today, attentive, friendly and caring staff. The dishes are a little expensive but the price suits the quantity offered. A little waiting time (30 minutes) but worth it. I highly recommend!

Das Essen war leider nicht gut. Verstehe die Bewertungen nicht. Wir hatten einmal Spanferkel mit Brot (das war in Ordnung, aber mehr nicht), einmal Schweinebraten mit Spätzle (die Spätzle waren Industriespätzle mit einer ungewöhnlich süßen Soße, die völlig unpassend war) und einmal Spätzle mit selbiger Soße. Der Spätburgunder hat geperlt und eine Flasche stilles Wasser kostete 8€!!! Maximal 2/5 Punkten.

Delicious place to have some real German food! Beautiful German restaurant with typical traditional style. You can have a table for yourself or share on one of the bigger one the German style. Service is incredible and our waiter was so friendly, fast and nice to talk. You see they have fun doing their job and that happiness is contagious! Beer is traditional beer from Freiburg and the cuisine is delicious! I had a Schnitzel and the seasoning was outstanding! The Panade was crispy but also juicy enough and had a great taste. Probably a secret recipe since the taste was just delicious. It is served with salad and fries. Both very tasty! The fries just done at the perfect crisp and salad with enough sauce. The atmosphere is very lively but super comfortable. You can enjoy your beer and food without any haste. Even though the place is quite small, we did not have to wait to get a table. You can pay with cash or card (from 20€), so it is easy to enjoy your visit. Highly recommended and can’t wait to come back!

We went to the Gasthaus Kreuz in Freiburg for the first time thanks to a recommendation. We were completely satisfied. Great food, excellent service and had nice conversations at the neighboring table. Would love to come back.

It was very unpleasant because we reserved a table and then found out on site that the table had been reserved again after 2 hours, but we would have liked to sit together with our friends for longer. That is impossible because we were not informed of this when making the reservation.

A small restaurant but very cozy with friendly staff. Spent a few days at Freiburg and ate there twice. The food portions were generous and quality ingredients was used. The food tasted fantastic thus the second visit. I had one of the best beilagen salats during my visit to Germany. A must try. Do take note that they have English menu for tourists.

We were there 1-2 months ago, when we were looking for a restaurant, the owner intercepted us and said that we should come to his restaurant, great food, great ambience and not too expensive either. He was right! At first it looked like everything was full, but then we got one of the last seats in the small but nice outdoor area, right next to the small "stream" that runs through the whole of Freiburg. We were then served personally by the boss, as there was a lot to do inside and the waiters had their hands full. If the business is to run smoothly, the boss has to get involved too, which I think is great! 😊 The food was also very tasty, the waiting time was hardly noticeable. We also had the feeling that most of the cooking here was fresh, and in any case we were thrilled. We would be happy to come back.

The two of us were guests at “zum Kreuz” and enjoyed dinner. The small restaurant only has around eight tables, which are shared with other guests. The restaurant was well attended despite it being a Monday evening. The staff was "on their toes" and there is no waiting time to place the order. Preparing the meals takes a while, but it doesn't get cold after just a few minutes. The food, bratwurst with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes and turkey schnitzel with spaetzle was simply a delight. We'd love to come back to "zum Kranz", but we would reserve in advance. In short: we are thrilled ❤️

We dined there with our 3 year old daughter and were surprised with the food. Excellent food, excellent taste, local, huge portions, the quality felt very high. The restaurant itself is not very fancy even tho the prices are not cheap, but the food makes up for it. The service from the owner/admin was excellent, the waiter was only friendly after we gave the tip but well that did not ruin our dinner. Would definitely go back.

We loved this restaurant in every way. It started with the flexibility to give us two more seats even though all tables were pre-booked and continued with excellent local cuisine. We were also impressed by the service, who always kept an overview despite the full house and, despite the stress, responded to special requests and always remained friendly and calm. We were lucky enough to spontaneously get a seat in this cozy, rustic restaurant. You should probably pre-order normally. The food was just really good, the service was friendly, cheerful and accommodating. The next time we come to Freiburg, this will definitely be one of our points of contact again. Absolute recommendation!

We've been here three times now and it's been really nice every time. Good service, very personable, warm and hospitable. Portions are generous. Would love to come back. The allergen list, especially in relation to grains containing gluten, needs to be revised, but you can get good advice if you ask.

Unfortunately, the food is nothing special, some of it is conventional, but quite expensive. We weren't convinced.

I was turned away in an extremely unfriendly manner and the waiter didn't want to serve us outside. 👎

This was the second time we have been to this rustic and good restaurant with a beautiful outdoor area right in Freiburg's old town and we will definitely come back. I had the homemade meatballs with salad, spaetzle and mushroom cream sauce (see photo), my partner had the saddle of veal steak with spaetzle. Both dishes were excellent and very tasty! Very good food (Badische Flädlesuppe, beef rump steak with fries and roast pork with spaetzle), the two ladies (one blonde, probably the owner, extremely accommodating and very hospitable; the other, calm, extremely hard-working in a positive sense and very friendly). Table 11 outside was very pleasant, quiet location, very close to the cathedral. Can be combined with a nice evening walk. We'd love to come back, thank you :) LG

Food that you can't get on every corner. We ate super crispy suckling pig, the first time in over 20 years. Vegetarian dishes are also available, our daughter praised the cheese spaetzle with salad.

La nourriture est typiquement régionale, copieuse et bonne. J’aurais pu donner 5 étoiles. Sauf qu’au moment de payer par carte bancaire, le patron m’a demandé combien de pourboire je souhaitais laisser et voulait saisir 10% d’office. Il m’a présenté cela comme obligatoire et destiné « au personnel ». Étonné, j’ai finalement cédé pour le minimum : 5%. Après recherches, les pourboires sont bien facultatifs en Allemagne. Et sur mon ticket de CB, la mention « Trinkgeld » apparaît clairement. Bref, cette impression de m’être fait prendre pour un imbécile par un patron de restaurant roublard m’a fortement déçue et a gâché la soirée. Dommage.

Something hidden but just LEEECKER. It's definitely worth it. Whenever we are in the Freiburg area from Switzerland, we love eating with Isabella and Michael and their team, even with our child! I really don't know where you shouldn't be child-friendly, we haven't noticed anything yet. You are very warm and loving to our son too. Here children can also be children (the basic requirement here is education of children, and not parents who think they are childcare). The ambience with the Bächle and the old-fashioned but very homely restaurant definitely invite you to linger. The staff is always very friendly, including to our child. The menu isn't huge, but there's something for everyone and it's FRESHLY and deliciously prepared, within a normal time frame and fresh!! Kitchen. It should also be clear that when there are few guests, things go a little faster than when the restaurant is full. But that's completely normal. Your kitchen can definitely do more than just frozen frass, as some comments claim. With all the reviews I read here about everything being so bad and unfriendly etc., I really wonder whether these people have nothing better to do than spreading lies and untruths and whether they have ever visited you were?? A really great place! The landlord and his staff are really nice. The food tasted great! Despite the fact that it was packed, the waitress (the innkeeper) always had a nice saying on her lips and always had an overview! Keep it up! We'll definitely be back!

Volle Punktzahl für dieses zentral am Münster gelegene kleine gemütliche Restaurant. Der Chef und die Chefin kümmern sich liebevoll persönlich um jeden Gast. Wir hatten wirklich Mühe bei den ganzen leckeren lokalen Gerichten und etwas auszusuchen. Wir haten dann das Schnitzel und ein Steak. Das Schnitzel kam super kross und die Spätzle und die Rahmsosse waren ein Traum- ebenso der Beilagensalat mit super Dressing. Das Steak war Top-Qualität und die Kräuterbutter selbstgemacht. Die Portionen waren so üppig das man den Nachtisch ausfallen lassen musste. Fazit: solche Restaurants sind rar geworden in Deutschland- Für und steht fest wo wir wieder einkehren werden wen wir im schönen Freiburg sind.

I will agree with previous comments about the 10% tips for tourists, they present to me a bill and when paying by card, the guy hid deliberatly the payment machine (displaying a 10% overcharged bill) For every tourists (I think no german will be overcharged), be careful when paying your bill in this restaurant !! And for the restaurant, don't answer to me saying it's a lie, I can prove it !

The experience was being quite ok until the bill arrived. First, they did not let us check it before paying; second, it was not possible to see the price in the dataphone. But the worst part was when we saw they charged 10% of the bill (15€) as a tip without asking. Normally they always charge or they ask if you want to give a 0, 5 or 10%, but not this time. In addition, the waiter was quite rude (I understand that because he was alone and with lots of tables to serve!). To be said, the knuckle (Haxe) was really good.
