Deserves 5/5 stars The staff was very friendly, the food came quickly, and it was extremely delicious. We asked for an outside seating area since we were there with our dog. This request was accommodated even though the restaurant was quite busy. There are also swing seats!

We've always been satisfied, and yesterday we were there for a wedding. The food was delicious, arrived at the same time, the service was fantastic, everything went super quickly, it was cozy, and everyone had a truly wonderful celebration! I highly recommend this restaurant!

An old study-cult forest restaurant. Beautiful outside. Relaxed. The legendary apple pancake was better than it is today (perhaps like every memory?), the schnitzel was a bit dry, and the salad was good. The overall package—food, style, and ambiance—is worthwhile. By the way: easily accessible on foot from Günterstal and Freiburg Sternwaldeck.

The salad was delicious, and the schnitzel with fried potatoes was too much for me. One schnitzel would have been enough, but the fried potatoes were a bit salty. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it. I'm curious to see what the dessert will be like.

A very nice restaurant. It's idyllically situated in the forest. When we were there, it was steak night, and it was delicious. The servers were quick and friendly.

The restaurant offers everything a hiker needs. Good food at a locally acceptable price. The service is very efficient. Therefore, while good, it's also very strained and somewhat distant. All in all, a good to very good experience.

Good food, good service and nice vibe

We came with children on May 1st and were served very courteously and friendly despite the general hustle and bustle! The food was also very tasty. A big compliment to the team but also to the boss for getting involved and the very good personnel management!

Nice atmosphere and great varied food

We travel around a lot and eat at different places but this meal was truly outstanding. Good portions, super tasty and really nicely prepared. We were just passing through and looking for a good restaurant, we definitely found it here! The service was super nice and very accommodating, the food was so delicious and, above all, the homemade ice cream was a dream. In the middle of the forest on a mountain, there is also a great atmosphere and WiFi for guests. All in all a really great visit, we can only recommend it!

The restaurant has been around forever. Fortunately, the basic factors have never changed, and even today pancakes are the most important food here - and they are good here.

The "first" impression was a long time ago. We have been coming here again and again for many years.... comfortable seating outside and inside possible, a bit dark inside.

The food is delicious and the value for money is absolutely right. I really enjoyed the soup and the pancakes. If I'm in Freiburg again, I'll definitely come back here. Always an enchanting place in the middle of the forest. Famous for its pancakes.

I was in the arbor (see picture) on December 2nd and you could sit comfortably despite the cold temperatures. The food was excellent, the service was extremely friendly. Later we went into the closed rooms and were able to continue celebrating a wonderful evening in a pleasant atmosphere.

I have been several times and always come back with pleasure. What is certainly striking is the always attentive, friendly and thoughtful service. Every time I always find the same guys serving and you can see that they put passion into what they do. The food is excellent, never disappoints, generous portions and honest prices considering the quality of the products offered. The steak from Steaks Abend is one of the best I've ever had, tender and full of flavor. For me St. Valentin remains one of the best restaurants in Freiburg.

The positive reviews are absolutely true. Service was super friendly and accommodating, the food came very quickly and was excellent. The garlic schnitzel with fries for 15 is almost impossible to afford on your own :-) and the price-performance ratio is absolutely top. A visit to this jewel in the Black Forest is always a wonderful experience. Now we have opened the asparagus season with a delicious pancake with hollandaise sauce. The Brägele are always guaranteed and the dessert (apple strudel) was good to bite into. The service is very friendly, attentive and always smiling. Even on busy days, the team manages to prepare everything hot and tasty and bring it to the table. We always enjoy coming here!

We stopped here after a visit to the Schauinsland mountain railway. The parking lot is about 400m from the restaurant. The restaurant is surrounded by greenery. (Very idyllic) We had a table in the main house and the rooms were very cozy and rustic. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was rich and the quality was good. However, the portions were too big for us. There are plenty of places outside for the warmer season.

Sankt Valentin is an absolute must if you want good food with an idyllic atmosphere. Located in the middle of the forest and whether by car or on foot the journey is definitely worth it. We had a great evening, with good food, good wine and super attentive service. Thanks for the great evening, we'll definitely see each other again soon.

We were really excited about our visit to St. Valentin. The food was not only very tasty, but also lovingly prepared and tasted to the point. The service was friendly, attentive and pleasantly unobtrusive. What was particularly positive was that we hardly had to wait - the food came really quickly. All in all a successful visit, we would love to come back!

We ate good meat, cooked as requested with exceptional sautéed potatoes and pepper sauce. Excellent strudel and good house red wine too. 15 minute drive from the center of Freiburg. We went beyond the private road sign and arrived at the restaurant but unfortunately there was no space and we had to park at a distance. I recommend booking on the very typical terrace. €40 each

It is the perfect dining experience in the land of the black forest. Excellent view, excellent service, excellent quality, excellent cleanliness. As a nutritionist I must say that it is an excellent restaurant. You have to walk a bit from the parking lot but it is absolutely worth it.

We had a lovely stay. The service at the table was great. We enjoyed the food and the ice cream with hot raspberries for dessert was also great. The drinks cooled us down again, because that was necessary after such a climb! Now some people ask themselves, why do you only give 3 stars when everything in the restaurant was fine? I have to mention this here because there is nothing about it on the restaurant's homepage. The parking situation is such that you are asked to park your car at the bottom of the street. When we got there around 5:45 p.m. everything was already parked. On the edge of the slope, sloping terrain. That leaves an uneasy feeling. Then comes the climb. Even Google can't help here, as it says this route is mostly flat. It's a steep climb. Now we have a person who is disabled but doesn't have a disability certificate, but we have taken into account people who are more severely disabled. Unfortunately not others. Some others ignored the clear sign. After 400 meters to the restaurant, we pass the parking lot for the "disabled". Here, young families with children get out of the vehicles, usually with local license plates on the SUV. That's no fun. Maybe we just have to be a little bolder or even more ruthless when the Paralympics are just starting on TV. One last sentence to St. Valentin, as great as it is with you, we won't be coming back for a while. You need to communicate this better. Or find a solution, perhaps with an e-shuttle.

It was our first time in this great forest restaurant, we will definitely come back! The food is top notch, the spaetzle is a dream. Great atmosphere, next time we will make a reservation in the arbor. The service is super attentive and friendly, everything went very quickly and special requests were no problem. An all-round successful evening! However, I would be happy if the parking lot directly in front of the location was only used by people with disabilities - as indicated. In the evening, the parking lot above was full and the parking lot below, a few meters away, was almost empty. But there's little the restaurant can do; that's up to the guests.

Das Waldrestaurant "St.Valentin" für mich ein absoluter Tip!

We were there for the first time in ages. We walked up from Günterstal. We were surprised by the good price-performance ratio, the friendly, good service, and the quality. It's possible without constantly driving the prices up and up. The atmosphere is simple but clean. The restrooms are clean.

Top-notch service, fast service, and, above all, a unique location for dining. A leisurely 30-minute walk from the forest parking lot! What more could you want?

It was more of a ready dish. Unfortunately the sauce was so thin from the goulsch that it was more like ratatouille. This caused the spaetzle to splatter in all directions. Sorry but it wasn't worth the 30 euros. Then you have to at least make the red cabbage yourself or the spaetzle. It wasn't really warm anymore either, served on a cold plate. But that's how it is today. Unfortunately. Next time we'll just have a drink.

A return to the past and a surprise for my guests. Of course we all had pancakes. When we asked for a sweet tarte flambée for dessert, we got it, even though it wasn't on the menu. Absolutely TOP!

We are regular guests and come at least once a week. We love the service, the steak or the changing evening menu and feel perfectly looked after. Today we chose venison goulash and were thrilled and can't understand the previous recession. We would definitely eat it again and thank you for the great service and quality and recommend St. Valentin without reservation
