We are delighted! It's been a long time since we ate this well in Germany. The service was very warm and the setting unique. We will return there in summer to enjoy nature.

We had a great meal last night! The best regional ingredients skillfully prepared by a dedicated kitchen team who know their work. We would like to thank you for the wonderful evening and look forward to coming back!

Apart from the unfriendly receptionist (she saw us at the reception and left us standing, then came to us with the explanation that she wasn't coming because she didn't have a free table (as a guest I can't even know or smell that?)), super delicious food and great service. Price-performance is also great :)

An easy thing to judge. It's all ok. The hotel was not booked. From there, start a hike or walk and then stop off at the inn at the end. It'll be good!!

A very worthwhile location with very friendly employees. Although the restaurant was very busy, we were served promptly and our dog was also taken care of.

We only went there to eat. It was delicious on weekends and of course very popular when the weather was good. The parking lot is free in the area, you have to pay for parking at Möhnesee. Nice outside area. Toilets were clean.

I didn't sleep here and didn't want to rate the hotel, but rather the breakfast. The location itself is very nice and right on the Möhnesee. The service was super friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately I find the breakfast to be oversized. You get a three-tiered plate full of food, along with rolls, bread and a croissant. Everything on the plates is way too much. Even if you put a generous amount of toppings, there will still be something left over. Unfortunately, this is food waste because a lot of it ends up in the bin. Probably to justify the high price of around €15. It doesn't suit my personal taste. I would rather have homemade bread and selected spreads etc.

Very friendly receptionist and operating staff. We really enjoyed ourselves there. Added to this was the delicious food. The stay there was worth it. All in all a perfect day.

I had breakfast with a friend in the gatehouse one day and was very excited! It was very cozy in the restaurant. The waitresses were very nice. There were various breakfast options to choose from. We both decided on the Möhne breakfast and an extra portion of scrambled eggs. Personally, I would have liked a breakfast option with sausage, but the breakfast with cheese was also very tasty! The cheese platter was lovingly prepared. All in all, I was very satisfied and would love to come back! There are enough parking spaces available. I can't rate the rooms.

Following a recommendation, I wanted to come here with a group of 12 people on April 26th. Have lunch and then look at the sculpture garden. Unfortunately this is not possible for “personnel reasons”. Too bad!

Went there for coffee. What can I say? Simply beautiful. Especially now, of course, at Christmas time and with a lot of snow. Pieces of cake large and very saucy.

We go here regularly for coffee and cake or even a meal. The garden is very beautiful and huge. Parking is also no problem.

We had an appointment there yesterday Sunday at 2:30 p.m. and of course it was full... there was a 20 person long line in front of us... but it went quickly and we got a really nice table by the window for 4 people. The service was very nice and the prices were also acceptable… recommended!

It's always great to come here for coffee and cake. Great environment for walking and the gatehouse is always cozy, elegantly decorated, the cakes and tarts are sensational. And your hearty appetite is also catered for. I love the gatehouse 🤩

Very nicely decorated. Service was a bit disorganized at times. Unfortunately, the food was average at best. The shrimp were absolutely fried and very small. Tomato sauce very sweet. We've also eaten rump steak better. Sweet potato soup was great.

About the restaurant: The cake was delicious. Unfortunately, coffee specialties (e.g. latte macchiato, cappuccino, etc.) are only available with cow's milk. So if you are lactose intolerant or want to consume less animal products, you should look elsewhere. A simple hand frother would be enough to appeal to this potential customer group.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is great. When it comes to eating, however, it seems to make a difference whether you order the familiar dishes (currywurst, cakes) or the larger dishes. The duck was extremely dry, the side dishes were poorly seasoned, and you don't ask how done you want the steak to be... Unfortunately, the kitchen doesn't meet your own standards. The service in which 3/4 of the employees are not allowed to take orders but only call colleagues was also very annoying to us. As I said, it's a shame, the house and everything around it is great to look at.

Went to the gatehouse for Christmas dinner with nine people last week. Let's start with the telephone reservation... If you call the Torhaus, you only reach a voice computer (according to the Torhaus it's an AI, ah yes), which offered to reserve a table for me, which I then did, including giving my mobile number. I did not receive a confirmation of a callback. I went there a few days before dinner and, oh surprise, no reservation was found for me. I then made a reservation in front of Orr. On December 20th then we were there. Service was so mediocre, drinks came quickly, we waited an hour for the food. The food was good in terms of taste and quality, but the portions were far too small for the very high prices. My wife's food was also only served lukewarm. The highlight was that I had spoiled condensed milk with my coffee. There was an apology and a new coffee. Overall, the evening was more than disappointing.

Were here after a visit to the Christmas market, festively decorated inside and out, just great. Ate coffee ☕️ and cake 🎂. After a break we also had dinner Simply delicious 😋 and great atmosphere Highly recommended *****

Beautifully decorated, especially at Christmas time. Were there with a 20P group. A menu was easily put together beforehand. Service was very good, flexible and friendly. Food also excellent! Overall successful visit! Addendum: Excellent wild consommé & duck!

The food there is very tasty, but unfortunately a bit very expensive. Some of the staff were rude, which is understandable with so many guests. When you order something, you wait a good 10 to 20 minutes. The gatehouse is located halfway in the forest, which makes it quieter but also harder to find if you want to go there for the first time.

Nice service. Food was good too, but the table lighting was a bit poor. More light would be pleasant.

We were there as a couple 3 weeks ago and are incredibly disappointed. Our drinks didn't come until after 20 minutes, it wasn't full and it was the wrong thing for my husband. After 10 minutes we asked if the drink wasn't there yet - and then it came quickly. It can happen and it's not bad. The highlight was when our food arrived. Mine was right, my husband was wrong. Then I was asked if I was ready to eat and my husband would come later. We came as a couple and it can't be that difficult to get the food together, sorry, the right food. No attention was paid to our empty glasses either. So all in all we won't be entering this restaurant again.

The entire house is lovingly decorated seasonally, with art objects completing the ambience. Very good food and friendly service.

Unfortunately it wasn't served today. Admittedly they were in a corner in the winter garden. After the two neighboring tables were served, I politely asked the front desk if we could order something. It may be that the employee didn't see us. After she cleared other tables and asked other guests if everything was okay, we left. I let them know again that we were leaving now, after asking and still not being served. Apparently they ignored us because we asked, even though we remained friendly. It's a shame, I don't know anything else like that! So I was there again today and what can I say, last time there was only one exception. Today we stayed in, had great service, very friendly staff and great food. We'll be coming back more often now and with great pleasure!

The food came to the table very quickly and tasted good too The portion was a bit small for the price The restaurant is open until 10 p.m. on Saturdays The kitchen was cleaned shortly after 9 p.m. The smell of chlorine wafted into the restaurant, which wasn't particularly pleasant At 9:15 p.m. we wanted to order a drink and were told you would first have to ask if you could get something else. We reluctantly (feeling) got one last drink It was okay to see it, but you don't have to drive another 60 km to see it

We ate at the Torhaus for the first time and were thrilled. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, very cozy and inviting. The service was very courteous and friendly, the food tasted excellent. Two days later we went back there for coffee and cake and were again very satisfied. Definitely worth a visit.

We were there for dinner this evening. We were greeted by a great atmosphere in front of the building and inside it was also beautifully decorated for Christmas and newly renovated. We were greeted a bit hectically and immediately asked to take a seat at the counter as our table was still occupied. It was 6:05 p.m., we had made a reservation for 6 p.m. When we made the reservation we were informed that the table would be available to us for 2 hours. After 3 minutes we were “allowed” to go to another table. There were two tables occupied in the room while we were in the restaurant. Everything else was free. We were seated at a table for four that was quite close to the table behind us. The lady there took up so much space that I could hardly sit down. The starter was served and misnamed, both were bruscetta but with different toppings. We then realized while eating that there had been a mix-up. The main course was served shortly after the starter. We already knew from previous visits that the food here is very sporty and quick... others will like it. But I felt very rushed at the pace. But certainly necessary if the tables are allocated in a timed manner. The quality of the food was good, not outstanding. The portions too. However, the radio with music, news and traffic information was playing so loudly and so loudly that you just wanted to run away. The war in Ukraine and the SPD crisis from bad loudspeakers is something I would have liked to have simply ignored over dinner. Actually, we only ate briefly and left as quickly as possible. We had a 60 minute journey each way from the Ruhr area and a voucher because we had said some time ago that we had had a nice meal there and someone wanted to make us happy. The hectic hustle and bustle behind the counter, which is open to the side of the dining room, did not make it possible to enjoy the lovingly prepared furnishings. I had the feeling of sitting in a snack bar. It may not bother others. For us it is no longer an option.

Ich war schon öfters mal im Laden und mir gefällt es immer wieder sehr gut! Die Bedienung ist super freundlich und sogar wenn mal was schief läuft, wird immer für die Zufriedenheit des Gastes gesorgt. Immer wieder schön:)

We stopped here on our walk around the Möhnesee. A great restaurant with a warm atmosphere. We decided to order two main courses and a dessert. The service was quick and very friendly. The food is very tasty. All in all a great experience and we will definitely come back again.

The restaurant has a great location next to the Möhnesee tower, with a large parking lot. Great ambience, a mix of chic and rustic, very tasty food, friendly service. It was my first time there, but definitely not the last time.

At the end of a day tour in the Sauerland we stopped at the gatehouse. The surroundings and ambience there are spectacular. We made a reservation online and were greeted very friendly. Service was quick and very nice. We had the game goulash and the mushroom schnitzel. The quality was very good, fresh mushrooms, homemade hollondaise. The food could have been warmer, apart from the goulash everything was only lukewarm. Overall, a very nice end to a great day of hiking.

Beautiful and cozy atmosphere. Delicious dishes and cakes and always good and friendly service. Beautifully located by the forest and lake, which makes a walk unavoidable. I always really enjoy being there.

Very nice place with interesting art in the large garden. The restaurant/coffee shop is very comfortably furnished. A real feel-good place. From there there is also a beautiful hiking/biking path that leads through the forest.

Rating of the restaurant: I've eaten at the Torhaus many times, my wife for the first time today - and like me every time, she was also thrilled. Small but nice menu (I almost always take the wild goulash), great rustic but modern atmosphere, beautiful winter garden. Service quick and courteous. In the summer you can sit outside, but I don't have any photos ready at the moment. We'd love to come back.

Our goal for thirty years at Möhnesee. Always first class. Friendly and qualified staff. Good cuisine. Very well-kept gastronomy, inside and out.

On Sunday afternoon we spontaneously went to the gatehouse for coffee with the family. It was more than likely that it would be full, so getting a table was unlikely. It doesn't cost anything to look. What we then had to experience is something I have never experienced before. I've never been so ignored before. We weren't even given a glance! 4 employees behind the counter neither looked nor asked whether they could help or whether we might have made a reservation. The running staff also scurried past us several times without noticing us! I don't have to leave my money with you and we won't be coming back either. We live in the Möhnesee region and will not recommend you!

The dam reminds me of the bombing in World War II. Our parents had told us about these bombings with rotating barrel bombs. The post-war generations can read about this on signs/boards on the Möhnesee dam. When I visit the Möhne, I like to visit the Torhaus restaurant. You can eat very well there inside and outside. I can highly recommend a visit to the Torhaus!

We booked at short notice via Booking.com, sent money and were really looking forward to the stay given the great reviews. Booking confirmed and canceled 2 hours later by the hotel because the booking system made an error. They asked for understanding. No, dear Torhaus employees, we have no understanding of this and are very disappointed about it. It is very questionable whether we will book your house again.

Reservation via email worked well. Service very attentive, friendly and impeccable. Food very tasty. We once had the vegan patty, which tasted good, and the game goulash was also very tasty. My celiac disease was addressed courteously and the ingredients in the kitchen were clarified. The two of us paid a little over €60 for the main course and drinks. Compared to other restaurants around Möhnesee, this is refreshingly inexpensive and of very good quality. I would dine here again in a heartbeat.

Die Umgebung und das Gebäude selbst reißt viel raus. Nachdem das Torhaus einige Hochs und Tiefs in den letzen Jahrzehnten durchleben musste, haben wir uns nach einer Radtour entschieden, der Torhaus noch mal eine Chance zu geben und auf ein Stück Kuchen einzukehren. Sehr gut! Eine Woche später, Abendessen. Reservieren ging problemlos online. Aber es machte mich schon stutzig, dass nur zwei Uhrzeiten zur Wahl standen - 17:30 und 19:30. Massenabfertigung? Das Restaurant innen wirkt auf den ersten Blick warm und gemütlich, mit vielen offenen Holzelementen. Auf den Zweiten Blick ist aber viel zusammengewürfelt worden: "Ist aus Holz, stell es dazu!" Der Service war nett und ungemein auf Zack - komme ich noch zu. Das Essen war gut, aber jetzt nicht außergewöhnlich. Bekommt man in der Qualität bei jedem zweiten Italiener (wir hatten Tagliatelle). Dafür sind die Preise fair. Ein kräftiger Baum von einem Mann wird von der Hauptspeise nach einer Wanderung aber nicht satt! Der Service war auf Zack! Nach einer Stunden hatten wir die komplette Show hinter uns. Immer freundlich! Und dann sah ich den Grund. Hinter uns an der Theke wartet bereits das nächste Pärchen auf unseren Tisch. Also, wie schon befürchtet, Massenabfertigung. Schade! Vielleicht war es nicht unser letzter Besuch. Vor allem wenn es schnell gehen soll. Aber für einen gemütlichen Abend ... nicht meins.

The surroundings and the building itself take away a lot. After the Torhaus had to go through some ups and downs over the last few decades, we decided after a bike ride to give the Torhaus another chance and stop in for a piece of cake. Very good! A week later, dinner. Reservations were easy online. But I was puzzled by the fact that there were only two times to choose from - 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Mass processing? At first glance, the inside of the restaurant looks warm and cozy, with lots of open wooden elements. At second glance, a lot has been thrown together: "It's made of wood, add it!" The service was nice and extremely on point - I'll get to that later. The food was good, but not exceptional. You can get this quality from every second Italian restaurant (we had tagliatelle). The prices are fair for that. A strong tree of a man is not satisfied with the main course after a hike! The service was on point! After an hour we had the entire show behind us. Always friendly! And then I saw the reason. Behind us at the counter, the next couple is already waiting for our table. So, as feared, mass processing. Too bad! Maybe it wasn't our last visit. Especially when things have to happen quickly. But for a cozy evening... not for me.

It was a beautiful day, the food was great and the garden with the figures was just great 👍 it was worth it 😊

Great location, lots of parking spaces, beautifully located in the forest, large outdoor area, very cozy inside and plenty of space. Service very attentive and friendly, reservations are also recommended during the week. There were three of us and two of us were very happy with the food, I wasn't really. I expected more from the house classic (Öhm Wilm). The herb hollandaise was a curry sauce and that doesn't work with mushrooms. The schnitzel wasn't fried crispy either, rather it was soft. Well, I could have complained, but my companion didn't want any stress. Since it is a restaurant for excursions, you have to expect a certain amount of activity. People are constantly coming in and out looking for a table and that creates a certain amount of unrest. Dogs are allowed in the restaurant and I personally don't think that's a good thing. But the staff is really good and has everything under control. The sanitary facilities are impeccable. My very personal view of things and just short of 4 stars for me.

Our goal every time we visit Möhnesee. So again this time. Unfortunately it was very full, with a group of people and lots of hikers etc. But we got a place, the staff was very friendly and tried hard. Food good. Cake very strong. The entire ambience is harmonious here.
