TORHAUS Möhnesee in Möhnesee

Die Umgebung und das Gebäude selbst reißt viel raus. Nachdem das Torhaus einige Hochs und Tiefs in den letzen Jahrzehnten durchleben musste, haben wir uns nach einer Radtour entschieden, der Torhaus noch mal eine Chance zu geben und auf ein Stück Kuchen einzukehren. Sehr gut! Eine Woche später, Abendessen. Reservieren ging problemlos online. Aber es machte mich schon stutzig, dass nur zwei Uhrzeiten zur Wahl standen - 17:30 und 19:30. Massenabfertigung? Das Restaurant innen wirkt auf den ersten Blick warm und gemütlich, mit vielen offenen Holzelementen. Auf den Zweiten Blick ist aber viel zusammengewürfelt worden: "Ist aus Holz, stell es dazu!" Der Service war nett und ungemein auf Zack - komme ich noch zu. Das Essen war gut, aber jetzt nicht außergewöhnlich. Bekommt man in der Qualität bei jedem zweiten Italiener (wir hatten Tagliatelle). Dafür sind die Preise fair. Ein kräftiger Baum von einem Mann wird von der Hauptspeise nach einer Wanderung aber nicht satt! Der Service war auf Zack! Nach einer Stunden hatten wir die komplette Show hinter uns. Immer freundlich! Und dann sah ich den Grund. Hinter uns an der Theke wartet bereits das nächste Pärchen auf unseren Tisch. Also, wie schon befürchtet, Massenabfertigung. Schade! Vielleicht war es nicht unser letzter Besuch. Vor allem wenn es schnell gehen soll. Aber für einen gemütlichen Abend ... nicht meins.

Die Seele ist nicht mehr da, es bleibt die leere Hülle ! Sept. 2024 • Family Die Location bleibt sensationell, es haben sich jedoch erhebliche Mängel aufgetan. Service und Qualität der Produkte sind auf dem Niveau einer Pommesbude abgesunken, ein Aufzählen sprengt den Rahmen. Es bleibt die Erinnerung und die Erkenntnis dass eine GmbH die fehlende Aufsicht einer engagierten Persönlichkeit, wie Rüdiger, nicht ersetzen können.

Massenabfertigung, keine Begrüßung, kein Platz Angebot. Man fühlt sich dort absolut nicht willkommen als Gast. Der Weg lohnt sich nicht…

Wunderschön dort! Einen Besuch wert! Großer Skulpturengarten. Liebevoll angelegt. Bedienung war sehr freundlich, nett und schnell.

Wir, eine Gruppe von 6 älteren Herrschaften (eine Dame mit Rollator) betraten den wunderschönen Garten des Torhauses und hielten dort einen Moment inne, um nach einem Tisch für 6 Personen Ausschau zu halten. Im gleichen Moment herrschte uns eine weibliche Servicekraft mittleren Alters unwirsch mit den Worten „Entschuldigung, hier gibt es auch noch Menschen, die arbeiten müssen!“ an. Wir standen ihr wohl im Weg. Ein „Kann ich Ihnen helfen?“ o.ä. wäre wohl angebrachter gewesen.

Wir sind im Torhaus ganz spontan nach einer längeren Wanderung zum Abendessen eingekehrt. Da es Freitag Abend war, war das Restaurant gut besucht und wir hatten Glück, das wir noch einen Platz an einem größeren Tisch im Wintergarten bekamen. Von dort aus hatte man einen guten Blick in den Skulpturengarten. Dieser lohnt auf jeden Fall für einen Rundgang. Wir wurden zügig und freundlich bedient, zum Essen entschieden wir uns für den Wildburger "A la Marcel" mit Süßkartoffelpommes, der uns sehr gut geschmeckt hat. Zum Dessert gab es Erdbeereis mit Basilikum, eine interessante Kombination, die wir auch sehr lecker fanden. Es war nicht unser erster Besuch hier und wir fanden es wie in der Vergangenheit sehr gut. Gerade am Wochenende empfiehlt es sich hier auf jeden Fall vorher einen Tisch zu reservieren.

Ein wunderschönes Restaurant mit einem sehr sehr beeindruckenden interior!! Außen und Innenbereich sind wunderschön gestaltet und sucht seines gleichen. Durch Zufall haben wir dieses Lokal entdeckt. Spontan entschlossen wir uns zu bleiben und eine Kleinigkeit zu uns zu nehmen. Das Essen war spitze, schön angerichtet, und frisch zubereitet. Der Service war sehr freundlich und zügig. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen sehr gerne wieder. Vielen lieben Dank!

We have often stopped there after a hike. Yesterday, May 1st, there was a big crowd. What I immediately noticed here was that the staff were extremely friendly and tried to please every guest despite the stressful situation. So people always asked if they wanted a place in the shade and what can I say, they always somehow managed to keep the guests happy. A big compliment to the staff. I don't have to say much about the location, I'd rather show it off.

I ate the best currywurst ever there today.

We were visiting relatives and the four of us visited the Torhaus restaurant. Our relatives had already told us highly about this restaurant. Now we fully agree with them. Although we hadn't reserved a table, we were assigned a table within a few minutes in the busy and almost full restaurant. The service was very friendly, the atmosphere in the old half-timbered building was cozy and beautifully decorated. We were recommended the house-typical French fries, which were very pleasantly seasoned and fried. We also ordered various meat dishes, which everyone really enjoyed. Personally, I found the selection of juices very pleasant, which went well beyond the usual two flavors. We'll definitely come back.

Had dinner there again and, as always, it was very good in a cozy atmosphere.

A trip to the gatehouse is always worth it! The various cakes are very tasty and the atmosphere is cozy. It is quite crowded, especially on weekends, so you have to be patient. The garden with the sculptures is also recommended. I will definitely come back!

We were there for a birthday meeting. It was a lovely and successful afternoon all around. We were warmly welcomed and even given a nice separate frame for 10 people. The food and 🍕☕️coffee was super tasty 😋. The service was very nice and super friendly. They even responded to my jokes. The sculpture park is beautifully laid out and is very easy to walk through. We can only recommend this location. We'll definitely be back.

The gatehouse has been an integral part of our excursions around Möhnesee for many years. Located in the middle of an extraordinary, lovingly maintained park full of surprises, it is a place to relax, enjoy and be amazed inside and out... Plus a range of food (cakes!) of a quality that you rarely find - at reasonable prices . Absolute highlight!!!

Pleasant place for excursions or to switch off. There is an excellent cake counter. I can't judge the food on offer because, as a vegetarian, I mostly cook myself in the motorhome. There is a pitch with electricity. The free parking lot is highly recommended as a starting point for hikes or bike tours. Stopping at the gatehouse afterwards completes the trip. My friends and acquaintances rave about the salad variations. The lingonberry cake tastes great, as always.

Stopped into the gatehouse on Wednesday at the beginning of spring to enjoy coffee and cake with a friend...it was wonderful to sit outside in the wicker chair in the afternoon........beautiful ambience...in the middle nature........lots of places, so you have a good chance of getting a cat. Coffee and cake are very 😋 delicious..........I'll be back!

Wir haben noch nie so eine schöne Gasthofanlage gesehen. Der Wald und Garten des Torhauses stehen voller Kunstwerke und Vogelvolieren, die zum Nachdenken anregen. Es sieht (auch im beheizten Wintergarten) wie im Märchenpark aus. Das Essen ist ausgezeichnet, vorallem die Wildfrikadelle mit exzellenter Rotweinsauce ist sehr zu empfehlen.

We spontaneously ate here and were pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of the food. The menu was neatly and clearly laid out and had something for everyone. The service staff were very friendly and quick. Our dog was also very welcome. We'd love to come back!! Oh and definitely visit the sculpture garden, absolutely worth seeing!

The highly recommended restaurant has recently also started offering breakfast. We were there with customers and felt well looked after. The breakfast was excellent. The Bircher muesli is particularly delicious. The location is also very chic and cozy at the same time - with a view of the park.

No vegan breakfast options, not even oat milk. Dear Torhaus team, this is really out of date! We now know that we have to change our eating habits. Please be a little more open to progress...

We would have been happy to reserve a table based on a recommendation. But if you call on a Sunday during opening hours at 4 p.m. and are only met with an answering machine that tells you that you can only be reached by phone until 12 p.m. (!!!) on Sundays, even though it's open until 10 p.m Then I couldn't call again until Tuesday, then that has absolutely nothing to do with customer service. We have reserved elsewhere.

Delicious cake and the coffee tastes good too. We were served very nicely. We would definitely go there more often. Unfortunately we live 100km away and were just passing through. Highly Recommended. Hopefully the quality of the overall package remains as good as I have experienced

We had dinner at Torhaus Möhnesee and we really enjoyed it there. The atmosphere is very quaint and cozy. The service was very friendly and organized. We had a very nice evening there with very tasty food. We would love to come back and look forward to trying out the beer garden.

The gatehouse on the Möhnesee is great

I always find Torhaus very nice and the cake is great, unfortunately the interior area is not really wheelchair accessible, at least the entrance/exit. I was there with my grandparents, my grandfather is in a wheelchair. There are quite high steps at both the entrance and the exit; I could only push my grandpa into and out of the restaurant with a lot of difficulty. If my grandmother had been there alone with him, they probably wouldn't have made it in at all. However, the problem could probably be solved very easily with a ramp, and we have also informed the staff about the edges

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and despite being busy, they came more often. The food was quite good but not a revelation. I would say prices slightly above average, but still okay. As a family with 2 children, you should budget 80 euros for a meal with a drink each.

We arrived by bike and were warmly welcomed and spent a weekend in the chic suite. Very nice staff, delicious food, wonderful, modern, rustic atmosphere. Beautiful sculpture park at the hotel and the Möhnesee can be reached in 2 minutes. Thanks for the friendly accommodation, we'll be back.

With our e-bikes safely stored and a friendly welcome, we moved into the large suite at Torhaus Möhnesee. Large and very tastefully decorated. Clean and comfortable beds, as well as a good hairdryer. The dinner was very tasty, fast and friendly service and normal prices, something for everyone. Breakfast at the table was very relaxed and included everything from eggs to fresh orange juice. Checking in and out is uncomplicated and the sculpture park belonging to the hotel is worth a long walk. (don't forget the camera) The Möhnesee starts in 2 minutes on foot. Thanks for everything, we'll definitely be back.

When we arrived there was a crowd of guests at the door. The entrance door could not be opened from the outside. It wasn't possible to call because the answering machine was running. At some point someone came and opened the door. My salad was served without dressing. When I asked, a bottle of oil and vinegar was rudely placed on the table. The service here needs improvement! The sculpture garden advertised on the Internet was closed, despite the best weather. The house has seen better days!!

While looking for a restaurant, I came across the Torhaus Möhnesee through the tempting pictures and especially the orangery. After I explained the situation to the lady on the phone about why I wanted to rent a table in the orangery, she made it clear to me relatively quickly with the words "I don't turn on the heating for 6 people" that I would rather put my money in other hands will give. Furthermore, a reservation is only possible from 5:30 p.m., which is not possible for us due to the long journey to and from home (1 hour/although we might have made an exception for this) if the comment had not been made beforehand. Reservations from 4 p.m. and later, even though the restaurant is open all day long, were not possible here. For example, the lady could have shown me alternatives. However, it didn't seem like she was interested in having guests over. I would have liked to visit the Torhaus to see the food for myself and probably give a better rating. However, customer service and friendliness are also among them, which are definitely lacking here.

Ich hatte heute das Vergnügen, das Restaurant mit seinem neuen Inhaber zu besuchen, und ich war begeistert! Das Essen war köstlich zubereitet und präsentiert, und der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich der schöne Skulpturengarten, der eine entspannte Atmosphäre bot. Ein echtes Juwel, das ich jedem wärmstens empfehlen kann!

The best thing is the park that belongs to the gatehouse - with its sculptures, works of art and birds, as well as hidden secluded corners - here you really marvel at the tastefully laid out and very well-maintained complex. There are also some very stylish guest rooms and a first-class breakfast. The gatehouse was formerly the entrance building to the property of Baron von Donner, whose hunting lodge can be reached on foot via a beautiful, shady hiking trail about 3 km away. Nowadays, after changing hands several times, it remains privately owned - and not accessible.

We spontaneously drove to Soest today and enjoyed the beautiful weather. In a cafe in Soest we got the tip to go to the gatehouse at Möhnesee. Whatever we did...and it was a very good decision. The charisma and ambience of the house alone when you walk through the gate is just beautiful...see pictures...the restaurant is very cozy but at the same time elegant...and there are so many places outside with beautiful corners.. Just because of the ambience and the realness With fast and friendly service staff, you also have high expectations of the food. And we weren't disappointed... Given the atmosphere, you wouldn't expect a currywurst to be on the menu... but it actually exists... the Torhaus Currywurst with delicious homemade fruity curry sauce with a pleasant spiciness. I also had the cheese soup made from hearty mountain cheese with spring onions and fried onions. If you like something savory...just delicious...plus the homemade fries with rocket and freshly grated parmesan...great...I wouldn't have even thought of the idea. My wife had tagliatelle with fried garlic prawns with tomato sauce. She was also thrilled...We'll definitely be back...The 80 km journey is worth it...and to the boss...please don't change anything, leave it as it is now as much as possible...that's what your guests come for. . I can't say anything about the rooms because we didn't have one.

A great restaurant with German cuisine. Cozy but also elegantly furnished ambience. The toilets were also very elegantly furnished and it smelled good. The food is actually way too cheap considering the quality. Very tasty meat and crispy home-made fries. We were only there on a stopover otherwise I would definitely go there again.

The hotel - restaurant and cafe is the ultimate destination at the Möhnestausee. The wonderful cakes, the excellent cuisine and the beautifully landscaped garden invite you to visit again and again. Don't forget the friendly and attentive staff!

We went to the candlelight dinner this week. The table was lovingly decorated and the welcome aperitif quickly arrived. There was salad with lentils and fried goat cheese, lobster soup, sorbet, roast beef and chocolate tart and vanilla crenet tart. The courses followed one another quite quickly. The lobster soup was served to us as a foam soup, but it was more of a thick soup and for me it was the weakest course; I missed the impression that it had been freshly prepared. The main course was very nicely decorated. The dessert was very compact with chocolate tart and vanilla cream but very tasty. Only the finished tartlet and the slight taste of the refrigerator spoiled the impression a little. The service was routine, but sometimes a bit uninformed, for example the raspberry sorbet was... described as cherry. But the good food and the very nice ambience made up for it all. We spent a lovely evening there and would love to come back.

I tried for a week without success to get a table during the telephone times shown on the HP. An email address would be helpful. Guests who do not personally request a reservation may not be welcome either. It's a shame, they say it would be good.

We were at the gatehouse on the occasion of our mother's 85th birthday. Since she doesn't hear well, we asked for a table that was as quiet as possible. We had a beautiful table in a separate area so that my mother could follow the conversations undisturbed. The service was very attentive without being intrusive. The food was great and the prices were absolutely fair. The ambience is simply great. It was a perfect evening. We will be happy to come back, thank you very much

I really enjoy going out to eat or drink coffee in the Torhaus. Unfortunately there is nothing really for vegans, not even milk substitutes like oat milk or something similar. I think that's a shame and it excludes a few friends of mine. It would be nice if they changed that.

As always, great, beautiful ambience, quick service, delicious food and reasonable prices. A bit like vacation 🌝

Sehr freundlich Bedienung und tolles Essen

Sehr schönes, uriges und gemütliches Café/Restaurant. Toll zum Einkehren nach einem schönen Spaziergang. Die grossen Tortenstücke sind sehr lecker und ein Genuss. Wir hatten auch noch Pommes für den kleinen Hunger, selbst diese waren super knusprig und lecker, kein Einheitsbrei. Das Personal war auch sehr nett und warten musste wir auch nicht lange. Sicher nicht unser letzter Besuch.

Lokal usytuowany w bardzo ciekawej, a zarazem przepięknej lokalizacji. Jedzenie bardzo dobre, czas oczekiwania w jak najlepszym porządku. Ciasta są przepyszne, nie wiadomona któresięzdecydować. . Bardzo miła, sympatyczna obsługa. Będąc w okolicy warto odwiedzić i spróbować. Gorąco polecam.

Ich war von dem ganzen Ambiente total begeistert, sooo was schönes habe ich selten gesehen; die Dekoration innen + außen ein Augenschmaus, die Bedienung sehr aufmerksam + freundlich, das Essen eine Wucht.

Wir waren hier schon häufiger zum Essen, oder Kaffee trinken. Die Qualität der Speisen ist sehr gut, die Kuchen sind richtig lecker und der Service ist wirklich freundlich und aufmerksam. Das merkt allerdings auch an den Gästen. Es ist immer was los, gerade Sonntagnachmittag und im Sommer. Da muss man ein wenig Geduld mitbringen. Aber es lohnt sich. Kann das Torhaus nur weiterempfehlen.

Restaurante con encanto muy bien decorado y en medio del bosque. Gran variedad de platos y servicio correcto. Éramos 6 personas y se pìdieron platos diferentes todos apetecibles y sin nada en contra. Comedor acogedor con vistas a jardin y bosque que invita a reunirse con familia, amigos, etc.

Weihnachtlich schön. Allerdings sollte man Geduld mitbringen, da es zu den Stoßzeiten sehr voll werden kann.

Wir waren ohne Reservierung im Restaurante und bekamen eine Platz an der Theke. Ein sehr gemütlicher Platz. Der Service war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich, obwohl es kurz vor Weihnachten gut besucht war. Das Essen war wie immer,wir waren des öfteren im Sommer im Torhaus, sehr gut. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und zu keiner Zeit hatten wir das Gefühl unwillkommen zu sein. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Höchste Zeit diesen wunderbaren Ort einmal selber zu bewerten. Als Vermieter von Ferienwohnungen hier am Möhnesee kann ich nur sagen, wir sind froh dass es das Torhaus gibt . Eine Empfehlung an unsere Gäste, die man bedenkenlos aussprechen kann . Das ist in der heutigen Zeit schon sehr mutig ,denn meistens ist die Küche und der Service in anderen Restaurants nicht gleichbleibend gut .Aber was dort geschaffen wurde: die Dekorationen ,die Liebe zum Detail,der Skulpturengarten und jetzt die Weihnachtsdeko... einmalig!! Dazu das gute Essen ,der tolle Service,das ist schon absolut Spitze. Das absolute Highlight des Möhnesees und wir hoffen dass es noch lange erhalten bleibt.

A cozy, warm restaurant wonderfully decorated for Christmas! We had only coffee and cake on this visit - but the cake selection was unique and fitting for the Christmas holiday. The cake portions are very large! If you‘re looking for a special location for a day out, this is always a good choice and can be combined with a pleasant walk around the Heve- or Möhnesee.

Das Torhaus ist immer einen Besuch wert. Wunderschöne Weihnachtsdeko. Sehr netter Service. Toller Kuchen. Am meisten lohnt sich aber ein Besuch von Frühjahr bis Herbst, wenn der tolle Garten mit seinen vielen Skulpturen geöffnet ist.

Leckeres Essen, zu empfelen ist die Wilde Hilde, nette ambiente und ausreichend kostenlose Parkplätze direkt davor
