The Lox in Düsseldorf

We were there 3 years ago and again yesterday. Since yesterday it has been my favorite restaurant & we will always visit it on our anniversary. The food was a dream from start to finish.. the best scallops I've ever had, the steak was an absolute dream, half a lobster claw was simply mindblowing. And the cookie 🤤 on top of that, the staff is phenomenal. Incredibly friendly and attentive. People listened carefully and advised. We felt very, very comfortable - our impression from 3 years ago has been more than confirmed and we recommend it to everyone!

The Lox? More like 'The Locks' - every bite is locked up so well that you'll never want to eat steak anywhere else again! A real treat in Düsseldorf.

I've been to many excellent steakhouses, but the quality of the steak at this restaurant was truly exceptional. The meat was perfectly cooked, juicy and full of flavor—just how a steak should be. The atmosphere also left a strong impression. The ambience was stylish yet relaxed, with soft background music that pleasantly accompanied the conversations. The lighting was just right—dim enough to create a cozy atmosphere, but bright enough to fully enjoy the meal. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive without being intrusive. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we felt warmly welcomed and well looked after. I was particularly impressed by the extensive wine selection. The wine list was huge and offered many quality options from different regions, making it difficult to choose—but in a good way. We stayed in the restaurant for over two and a half hours because the entire experience was so pleasant. It was my second visit and I have to say that my expectations from the first time were even exceeded. I look forward to coming back soon and once again enjoying this wonderful combination of excellent food, excellent service and pleasant ambience.

Really absurdly too expensive. Without alcohol at 70 EUR per person, Dusseldorf & Oberkassel or not, is unfortunately really much too much. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Food good too. All in all, it's above average, but the prices are so high that you feel ripped off.

That wasn't a very nice restaurant experience for me. I like to start with the positive: the food was pretty good. The waiting time between courses wasn't too long, the steak was of good quality and was nicely prepared. You can't really complain about that. However, the service is the point that plays the decisive role in my rating. Because in my opinion it was extremely bad. They were very arrogant towards me and sometimes deliberately kept me waiting for a long time. I don't know why that was like that. Nothing happened and I'm actually always very friendly. That wasn't my imagination either, a quick example: we ordered a bottle of wine for our table, I sat right next to the bottle. So when I asked for a refill, someone was already standing next to me. The waiter deliberately served everyone else at the table before coming to me. It was similar with cocktail orders. I was always ignored for as long as possible. Even when I wanted to order a taxi at the end of the evening, they initially ignored me. I had to have someone else at the table order a taxi for me. (yes, I could have ordered one myself. But I'm used to this being done at good restaurants. They often have agreements with a certain taxi provider where they get a higher priority, etc.) Cocktail orders were also a negative point regarding service. I like drinking cocktails. I could live with the fact that you couldn't prepare the one I wanted most because you didn't know what an appletini was (it's actually a standard drink for me). When I was suggested alternative options, one of which I didn't know and therefore asked what exactly it was, they couldn't even answer it. The answer was "I don't make the cocktails, so I don't know," which to me indicates poor training. Whoever is in service and sells the drinks/dishes must at least roughly know what they are selling. I wouldn't come here again - just because of the poor service. The food was good, but when I go out to eat, the service is just as important.

Super great evening in a great restaurant where the service concept is still alive! Pepper steak was perfectly fried, even after the first drink more were requested - and that's almost a luxury ;-) In many restaurants there is no picture or sound from the employees after the drinks and food are "delivered". It works here! All the employees are super nice, in a good mood and we would particularly like to highlight Niklas... great guy!

I had dinner at The Lox with my girlfriend. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and immediately assigned a table. We ordered cocktails that tasted really great. For dinner we ordered veal chops and beef fillet. As a side dish we also ordered mashed potatoes with truffles and fried potatoes with bacon and onions. Both dishes were exquisitely prepared and tasted excellent. I can recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience, a visit is definitely worth it. Thanks for the great service, see you soon.

My visit to The Lox was a real highlight 😍. The ambience is classy and cozy, perfect for a special evening. The service was attentive and friendly. The steaks were outstanding. 😌 My 🥩 was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The side dishes, such as the potato gratin and the fresh vegetables, were also first class. 😋 The wine selection 🍷 is impressive and our red wine went perfectly with the meat. The quality and experience are worth it. For special occasions or simply a fantastic steak evening, The Lox is just the right choice. I'll definitely be back! 🌸

Letztes Wochenende hatten wir das Vergnügen, einen Abend im The Lox zu verbringen, und wir können gar nicht genug lobende Worte finden. Schon beim Betreten des Restaurants wurden wir herzlich empfangen und zu unserem Platz auf der schönen Terrasse geführt. Unser Abend begann mit einem exquisiten Aperitif und einer köstlichen Vorspeise: Austern, die so frisch waren, als wären sie gerade erst aus dem Meer geholt worden. Zum Hauptgang entschieden wir uns beide für rotes Fleisch, und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Fleisch war perfekt zubereitet. Die Beilagen waren ebenso herausragend: Das getrüffelte Kartoffelpüree war so cremig, das mediterrane Gemüse herrlich aromatisch und der Tomatensalat war sehr erfrischend. Der halbe Hummerschwanz rundete das Gericht auf höchstem Niveau ab. Besonders erwähnenswert ist der hervorragende Service, den wir durch Rico erfahren durften. Er war äußerst aufmerksam, stets zur Stelle, ohne aufdringlich zu wirken, und ging auf all unsere Wünsche mit einem Lächeln ein. Seine Empfehlungen trafen immer ins Schwarze, und seine Freundlichkeit trug maßgeblich dazu bei, dass wir uns rundum wohlfühlten. Wir können dieses Restaurant jedem empfehlen, der auf der Suche nach einem kulinarischen Highlight und erstklassigem Service ist. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

So the meat was really great and the side dishes were also very tasty - the dessert was unfortunately really disappointing - the cheesecake looked as if they only had one piece left and then cut it in half in case someone ordered that too. The service is really nice and attentive but doesn't meet the standard you would expect given the prices.

Freundliches Personal, schneller guter Service. Das Lokal war recht voll - gut, dass wir reserviert hatten. An dem für uns bestimmten Tisch war es freilich recht frisch, aber wir bekamen problemlos andere Plätze. Offener Blick in die Küche, um den Köchen beim Zaubern zuzusehen. Ich bin sicher, sie haben auch ihr Bestes gegeben, die leckeren Steaks sind auch exzellent für Düsseldorf, aber dennoch noch nicht vergleichbar mit den Steaks in USA, Brasilien oder Argentinien. Nein, es muss kein japanisches Wagyu sein und (obwohl das "Lox" nicht gerade preiswert ist) wir wären für ein Steak, das wirklich begeistert, auch gerne bereit, ein paar Euro mehr zu bezahlen. So bleibt der Eindruck an guten Service, gutes Essen und einen netten Abend in Düsseldorf, aber auch nicht mehr.

The best Steaks in Düsseldorf das kann man nur so sagen Bei besonderen Anlässen haben wir Freunde ins Restaurant LOX eingeladen und waren immer begeistert. Sowohl die Steaks als auch die anderen Gerichte waren immer hervorragend .Das Personal inbesondere Eddy sind herzlich und machen alle Geburtstagswünsche war. Very bad service from start to finish! No staff asks about the food or do you have any requests. Even when paying, feelings are not asked. Very rude way to deal with customers and especially with the prices quoted!!! The situation seems to be the primary deciding factor here as to why things are still going well. You can feel sorry for the food if everything else in the store isn't right! Absolutely not recommended!!! The staff obviously doesn't feel like having customers and prefers to sit at a table outside smoking and taking disproportionately long time off work, which is unacceptable and contributes to everyone's lack of understanding!

Excellent service and really excellent steaks with very good side dishes and seasonings. The Surf&Turf Carpaccio is great as a starter. The cocktails are also very good. Always enjoy coming here.

Aus unserer Hinsicht hat mit einem guten Steak nichts zu tun. Der Steak war sehr mittelmäßig, der Preos definitiv überteuert. Dem Koch wünschen wir mal nach Argentinien zu gehen, um zu lernen, wie ein Steak zu schmecken hat. Mein Geburtstag war in dem Restaurant Lox gar nicht so schön wie vorgestellt.

In our opinion, it has nothing to do with a good steak. The steak was very mediocre and the price was definitely overpriced. We wish the chef would go to Argentina to learn what a steak should taste like. My birthday in the Lox restaurant wasn't as nice as I imagined. Ok, the ambience was good, that's the only positive.

Simply a brilliant shop. Great service, friendly and humorous waiters, meat of absolute top quality. White chocolate martini can still be recommended there, I don't think it's on the menu, but it can do a lot.

Das Restaurant „The Lox“ befindet sich in einem Neubau auf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Güterbahnhofs Oberkassel. Der Belsenplatz ist nur einen Steinwurf entfernt. Ich habe das Restaurant an einem Samstagabend im März 2024 besucht. Es herrschte rege Betriebsamkeit. Fast jeder Platz war belegt. Ein DJ sorgte für Musik, was den ohnehin hohen Geräuschpegel noch einmal verstärkte. Bei der Vorspeise fiel meine Wahl auf das Beef Tatar (zum Preis von 19,90 €), beim Hauptgericht auf das Rinderfilet (zum Preis von 39,90 € für 220 Gramm). Beides war ausgezeichnet! Hut ab! Beim Wein entschied ich mich für einen Malbec aus Argentinien (Weingut Los Toneles, Jg. 2022) zum Preis von 11,90 € pro Glas (0,2 l). Auch das war eine gute Wahl. Trotzdem war ich froh, als ich später wieder auf die Straße getreten bin. Das "The Lox" ist ein Szene-Restaurant mit entsprechenden Gästen. So richtig wohl habe ich mich dort nicht gefühlt. Nicht meine Welt! Eine Tischreservierung ist dringend empfohlen. Der DJ ist nur samstags im Einsatz. Während der Woche dürfte es daher etwas ruhiger sein.

Nie enttäuscht, immer wieder überrascht. The Lox ist und bleibt für mich/uns Düsseldorfs bestes Stakehouse und kann sich auch Deutschlandweit sehen lassen (grüße aus Hamburg) der nicht zu groß geratene Laden ist schön eingerichtet und der offene Blick auf den Chefkoch, wie er sein Handwerk vollbringt, ist das was der Kunde sehen will, angerichtet wird der Gaumenschmaus niveauvoll, die Garstufen werden perfekt getroffen und allein das Entrecôte ist 5 Sterne wert. Die Beilagen wie auch die Cocktails bilden einen roten Faden zu dem Steak, die Hauptsache. Nie enttäuscht fast immer wieder überrascht, Danke auch an das wundervolle The Lox Team, nah am Gast mit Top Service, weiterhin gute Geschäfte

The food was solid and without any real failures, but nothing more. I had a decent carpaccio, a good rump steak and my girlfriend had a very tender fillet - both medium rare. But that's what I expect from a restaurant at this (self-proclaimed) level - especially given the really high prices, which are on average 20% higher than those of comparable steakhouses. The wine was also very good. The bacon beans as a side dish were probably from the Penny next door. There was a further deduction in the B grade for some details, which make the difference between a dinner and an experience. Holes in the tablecloth, professional but superficial waiters, and I didn't understand why I wasn't even allowed to keep the bill just because I didn't need a receipt. Overall okay, but too expensive for the overall impression and not a lasting experience.

A chic and elegant steak restaurant that knows its craft when it comes to meat, but unfortunately without a lasting highlight. Given the prices, I expect the steak to be tender and to the point, but everything else was just ok - nothing more. I was missing the last spark that makes it perfect. Points are also deducted for the fact that the tablecloth had a hole and the waiters were attentive and moving but somehow not reachable. A business lunch would definitely be nice - but too superficial for a romantic date.

Tolles Ambiente trifft fantastisches Essen! Selten so gut und ausgefallen gegessen, vielen Dank! Eigentlich klingt es so einfach, aber ein US Filet ist nicht immer ein US Filet, das Kartoffelgratin war göttlich, das Surf & Turf in einer Komposition die ihresgleichen sucht - wir kommen wieder!

Not too bad of an experience, however for the overall high praised critiques and the price tags on the menu, one would expect higher standards and a better experience. The mixed appetizers for two was lacking volume and though tasty did not justify the price of 39.90 euros. On the positive side, all three main courses, the sirloin cut with braised onions, the filet of pikeperch and the dover sole were really nicely cooked and up to expected standards. One small note, regardless if the sole is cooked as whole or filet, the fishbones should have been removed especially if you are charged 46.9 euros. Lastly, the service was polite and discreet. However, at the end of our dinner we ordered one chocolate soufflé with the liquid core which they forgot. After 25 minutes we reminded them and they brought it after approx. 10 minutes. Nonetheless, it turned out a simple cake with no liquid core whatsoever. Quite disappointing since it took more than half an hour to be served and been charged 13.9 euros for a rather overbaked cake. Overall, a bit of a disappointment. Small improvements and attention to details would have made it a memorable experience but this time it failed the mark.

Great steak and a good selection of wines!

The food was great but the service was not. The servants was not able to deliver wine to the main, it came 10 minutes too late. We had to remind the staff several times about the food, wine and dessert. We sat with empty glasses and no one bothered to ask if we wanted to make an order. We left the restaurant full but not satisfied.

Very good steak restaurant. I've been here several times now and have never been disappointed. The meat was always "on point" medium, super tender and very juicy. The side dishes have always been a pleasure. In addition to a very good selection of meat, there are also other dishes such as zander fillet, which was also delicious, as well as various salads with steak strips. The wine selection is huge and the waiters give the impression of being knowledgeable and can tell you something about the wines and make recommendations (and they don't just recommend the most expensive wine :D). The service is also excellent. The atmosphere is very cozy. The restaurant is stylish and modernly furnished. Only on busy days did I feel like I was sitting very close to other tables. Overall, a clear recommendation and definitely worth a “trip” or drive if you come from further afield.
