The Grill Upper Kö in Düsseldorf

There aren't many steakhouses that can offer an experience on this level. From starter to dessert, everything was more than successful, I was thrilled by the taste experience. The service is exceptional and the atmosphere is very upscale, the restaurant offers a lovely evening for two, which is exactly how you should go out for a steak!

The location is really nice, and the staff is extremely friendly. I had a burger with a few special requests. Unfortunately, I found the salad a bit overpowering in flavor. Still, the food was great, even if it wasn't the best value for money.

To start with, there was delicious onion bread with salted butter. Afterwards, the main courses without a long wait. Super tasty tender meat. The burger was also super tasty with a great combination of salad and sauce. The sweet potato fries are super crispy and not wobbly. The service is also 1A. The prices seem a bit too high to me and the noise in the restaurant is a little high, otherwise I was very satisfied.

The Nebraska fillet steak was truly out of this world but the fries were awfull. Prices are on a very high side. The service was OK, except for a waitor in a black shirt who was making snobby comments about a passing customer in German. It is understandable that you need a lot of patience for this job but such behavior was just unacceptable. Thus, two stars less.

Recommended. Steak was excellent, service attentive. Table with a view down to the Kö. Pleasant ambience with unfortunately poor room acoustics.

The Nebraska steak was simply full of fibers and fat. In addition, the beef was swewed raw. And not medium. No regrets. No compensation. A big disappointment. I do this much better myself at home with a cheap entrecote.

The two of us were there for my fiancée's birthday this Tuesday. Easy to book online in advance. Nice welcome and clothing service on site. Great ambience, dimmed lighting... everything around it fits in any case. We quickly went to the table and the menus were handed out, followed by understandable advice on the different types of meat, cooking points, etc. The different courses were well timed, the steaks were fantastic and the staff was attentive. The highlight was a small plate of table fireworks for my girlfriend as a greeting from the kitchen with some fruit, ice cream and chocolate Happy Birthday. Taking uneaten truffle mayonaise (ABSOLUTE RECOMMENDATION FROM OUR PART. The mayo is AMAZING!!) as a doggy bag was also no problem at all. And when we had to wait 15 minutes for our taxi after paying, each of us was given a drink of our choice at the bar!! Summary: super great, high quality... but also high priced food, very nice and attentive service. We would like to enjoy it more often, but since we have to leave the "church in the village" behind, it remains a rare but enjoyed highlight...and we are already looking forward to the next time. Special greetings go out to our “personal” serviceman Elias: THANK YOU!! for taking care of the birthday, the fireworks, etc. That was a special experience!

A special place, with good meat-based cuisine. The consistently friendly service is really great. I've been there several times and sometimes it was very crowded. Nevertheless, the waitress always managed to take the order correctly and bring it to the table. I think the furnishings are very chic and the window seats are great, especially in summer, as you can look out over the cool and green treetops from there.

Delicious burger, probably the best in Düsseldorf, albeit at a certain price (€29 for the burger with fries), and the view over the KÖ is beautiful! However the staff is very very arrogant and snobby, they don't really seem to understand what premium service is.

Unfortunately you just get disgusted, dogs are allowed in the restaurant and then they pee everywhere while you stand in front of the entrance, then dog shit is thrown into the ashtray and people then laugh about it. The service seems uncommitted, unfortunately not recommended!

This was our second time visiting here. Unfortunately a disappointment! Since we had booked especially for New Year's Eve and we were really looking forward to it, the food was unfortunately a lull! The shrimp (which was on the menu as a warm starter) was ice cold and didn't taste like anything. The consistency was just mushy. The meat was cooked incorrectly and went back. We were neither asked how we liked it nor whether we wanted dessert or coffee. The service was a disaster! The waiter didn't even know about the drinks and even forgot about us after taking the wine. We waited 20 minutes just for the drinks. I expect a lot more for the money, I get better service in every McDonald's than in this restaurant. We are very disappointed because the first visit was really good and we had hoped for more, especially on New Year's Eve. We didn't even get a farewell after not leaving a cent of tip. So being treated even more condescendingly is not possible. We won't come anymore. What a shame about the money!

Upon entering, a few decadent 60-somethings push in front, as they are regular customers. After this you are put at the bar to wait, because they thought you had not made a reservation. After it became clear that a reservation had been made, we were given a table. The food after this was not very good in terms of price/quality ratio. We will not immediately recommend it.

The Grill Upper Kö is an absolutely amazing place with such incredibly kind staff; they took such good care of us and truly made our visit very special.

This restaurant is really overcrowded! It is very beautiful and the atmosphere is also nice. But… For that very expensive price it has to be TOP and it was NOT! Sorry everything has its price but this is really about it!

Entschuldigung, man müsste die sonst wegschmeissen. Also Vorspeise auf Seite, Steaks auf den Tisch, Teller waren nicht mehr heiss. Dafür fehlte jetzt meine Gabel, was noch mal 3 Minuten dauerte. Entschuldigung. Dafür brachte man falsche Beilage. Die richtige Beilage kam, nachdem wir gegessen hatte. Entschuldigung, sonst klappt das besser. 300 Euro und nur geärgert. Auch wenn die Küche gut ist, der Service ist auf Mc Donalds Niveau.

One of the worst experiences in a restaurant in my life, our waitress was so extremely rude it was unbelievable. She had a massive attitude problem, a loud voice and really didn’t belong there. Horrible horrible experience!!!!

Le restaurant The Grill offre une viande de qualité, mais les prix sont largement exagérés par rapport à ce qui est servi. Payer 65€ pour 300g de filet de bœuf est déjà un investissement, mais les accompagnements, eux, n’en valent clairement pas la peine. 8€ pour des frites qui ne sont même pas maison et 5€ pour une sauce au poivre qui donne l’impression de venir directement d’une brique, c’est décevant. Les vins, eux aussi, sont proposés à des tarifs élevés, ce qui nous a poussés à nous rabattre sur la bière. En conclusion, même si la viande est bonne, le rapport qualité-prix laisse vraiment à désirer.

Meat is good but expensive for what it is. French fries are horrible frozen industrial and cost €8.5. Sauce is disgusting. 6€ for bad industrial bearnaise and 5€ the horrible industrial pepper sauce. The Grill restaurant offers quality meat, but the prices are greatly exaggerated compared to what is served. Paying €65 for 300g of beef fillet is already an investment, but the accompaniments are clearly not worth it. €8 for fries that aren't even homemade and €5 for a pepper sauce that looks like it comes straight from a brick, it's disappointing. Wines, too, are offered at high prices, which pushed us to opt for beer. In conclusion, even if the meat is good, the value for money really leaves something to be desired.

Everything was great, I liked everything. I only had one problem, which was the bees that wouldn't leave around me and from my dishes on the balcony where I was sitting. It's not as annoying as anyone might imagine, and it doesn't affect my rating either. The four stars I put are only because the evolution and progress has no limit. I would be even happier when I go again if there is something even better waiting for me than what I experienced the first time.

This is how a steakhouse should be. The food and everything was excellent. We had lunch here. We started with freshly baked crispy onion bread and salty butter. So good. Then with mega-fresh and meticulously 👍 clean oysters, lovingly prepared, on ice, with pumpernickel and cheddar cheese, red vinegar onions (delicious). I have never tasted such good onion soup. It contained butter-tender, wonderful pieces of beef. Glassy onions, the stock wasn't too dark. There were also small warm toasts with Gruyère cheese. For the main course I had a prawn skewer on pointed cabbage with figs. 12 out of 10 points 😍 so light and healthy. My husband had delicious juicy and crispy squid rings and prawns cooked to perfection. Then an American rib-eye, 300 g, as requested, doneness medium rare, perfectly fried, super tender and full of flavor. Mega meat. A poached egg on spinach on the side, great, and delicious coleslaw. I would like the coleslaw to be a little coarser and without turmeric. Unfortunately there was no room for dessert. Overall, the service was friendly, attentive and in a good mood. The tip was genuinely appreciated. We'll be back, no question.

We recently went to The Grill and are sad to say that the evening ended disappointingly for us. Despite an order of almost €300 for two people, we were treated extremely rudely by a service employee. We already felt uncomfortable when we were seated at a table that was far too narrow on the tiny rooftop terrace, but the behavior of the employee in question made the situation even more unpleasant. He constantly called us by first name, which is completely inappropriate in a restaurant of this price range, and treated us condescendingly. What was particularly annoying was that he constantly had a problem with our little dog. While all other employees got past our dog without any problems, he always felt disturbed and kept nagging. When we asked him about it, he showed no insight and became abusive and cheeky. The situation eventually escalated to the point where we decided to leave after starters as we didn't want to let him treat us badly any further. However, the employee didn't care at all that we wanted to leave the restaurant because of his unprofessional demeanor and asked us to go to the competition in the future. We also had to wait over 20 minutes per drink, which we also find unacceptable, with a maximum capacity of 30%. The starter was well prepared and solid, you can't complain about that. We would have liked to say the same for the main course and the dessert. The other employees were very friendly and were visibly upset when we left the restaurant early because of their colleague. It's a real shame that the behavior of a single member of staff ruined our evening so much. This makes you ask yourself why you should behave in such a way that is damaging to your employer's business. In a restaurant of this caliber, we expect to be treated with respect and not feel like you are unwanted.

Great food! Service was fine but it took us a while to get the bill, even though the restaurant was not that busy. Not a cheap restaurant but you can be sure you’ll eat great food! I definitely recommend the truffled fries with Parmesan cheese as a side dish to your steak.

I've eaten here several times, but unfortunately every time there's something different that doesn't fit/is consistent. Once we were even forced to order something to eat, otherwise we would have to sit on a high chair at the bar. (Only 2 tables were occupied in the restaurant at 2:50 p.m.…) something like that is just absurd…. There were two of us and we simply ordered dessert together. That's ridiculous... Otherwise food wise O.K. The price is very expensive for the performance.

Nur zu empfehlen wenn man absolut keinen Anspruch auf Qualität und Service legt. Das The Grill wurde im Laufe der letzten Zeit immer schlechter. Trotz der vielfältigen Warnungen mehrerer Freunde sind wir dort zum späten Mittagessen gewesen. Max 30 Prozent der Tische waren belegt. Das Essen kam unvollständig nach knapp 80 Minuten! Qualität ähnlich wie eine günstige Steakhaus-Kette. Pommes furchtbar fettig. Salat ohne Dressing. Bestellte Saucen und 1 Hauptspeise wurde gar nicht serviert. Wurden allerdings auf die Rechnung gesetzt. Beim Verlassen des Lokals wurden wir regelrecht angepöbelt weil wir in den Raum stellten, ausgesprochen enttäuscht zu sein und von weiteren Besuchen absehen werden. Ein Mitarbeiter lief sogar bis zum Aufzug hinterher. So etwas haben wir noch nie erlebt! Was waren das für schöne Zeiten im alten La Terrazza der 90‘er.

Mein Mittagessen wurde zum Abendessen weil mein Essen so lange brauchte. Drecksladen, komme nie wieder. Bis auf einen Kellner werde ich an dem Laden Nix vermissen.

Unfortunately, my only and definitely last visit ruined the entire evening for me and my companion. It was supposed to be a nice birthday evening that was overshadowed by rude service, an incorrectly served order and average taste. When I pointed out to the waiter that he had brought me the wrong meat, he replied that he never makes mistakes and that I definitely ordered what he served. I replied that I have never ordered anything other than a rib eye / entrecote in a steakhouse and it was the same this time. My companion could even witness it. I could have insisted on a new piece of meat, he told me, but we wanted to eat together and not one after the other, so I stuck with the wrong delivery, which didn't taste nearly as good to me as a tasty, fatty piece of meat. Unfortunately neither of us liked the side dishes either. Instead of an apology or at least gratitude that I accepted the wrong delivery, I finally got a negative surprise. The incorrectly delivered meat was probably more expensive and was charged accordingly instead of at least correcting it to the amount of the piece ordered. If I had insisted on subsequent delivery, I would have ended up paying less and the expensive meat would have been returned and probably thrown away. It was too stupid for me to argue with the waiter again and I simply didn't give a tip to express my dissatisfaction. Outrageous service, average food... Dusseldorf has a lot more to offer. We won't be coming back and will eat somewhere else in the future.

Visited with friends and kids and the service was amazing!! Despite kids 5 and 8. We stayed past closing and the staff were the best! Especially our waitress!

We wanted something to eat before the football game. We were also greeted in a friendly manner and were told to wait a moment until a table was ready for us. 15 minutes later another employee came and said she couldn't get a table ready for us because they were busy over lunch and had to prepare for dinner. However, there were few guests and they easily had time to prepare a table for us. I think it's a shame when the opening times are not respected and the guests wait and then are sent back. But the restaurant looked great, I can't say anything about the food, so no review. As far as the service is concerned, I am disappointed that the professionalism is lacking.

The service was extremely friendly and nice. However, the steak was just mediocre and nothing special. Given the price, it was definitely too expensive, as we ate much better in Düsseldorf for comparable money. My wife's steak was sent back twice because it didn't reach the desired doneness. Ordered medium plus, served medium rare. The chef just couldn't get it right. After my wife lost her appetite and no longer wanted to eat the steak, we asked for a discount. €60 for a failed steak is completely unacceptable, especially if the chef doesn't do his job well. It would have been appropriate to get the steak on the house. The arrogant chef refused to give us a discount and instead just offered a coffee. Dear chef, come to my garden - I'll show you how to properly prepare steaks. You will immediately receive training on how to handle customer complaints appropriately The nice waitress tried to save the situation and made a lot of effort. Nevertheless we had to pay €25 for the failed steak!

Very stylish restaurant with top service and delicious steaks.

Einmal hier zum Mittagessen. An sich ist das Resto gut gelegen und auch das Ambiente ist nett. Allerdings läßt alles Andere zu wünschen übrig. Empfagn war ganz gut, aber gleich danach der Flopp, das Resto war fast leer und wir sollten direkt am Servicewagen Platz nehmen! Warum? Wurde abgelehnt und es gab einen anderen Tisch. Die Speisekarte, naja man kann über die Auswahl nicht meckern, allerdings über die Preise schon (und diese rechtfertigen auch nicht die Lage auf der KÖ). Rinderfilet für 70 Euro und darin enthalten sind keinerlei Beilagen. Einfache Pommes dazu im Schälchen für 8 Euro, Parmesan Pommes 17!!! Gehts noch? Fleisch war so wie es aussah auch nicht vom Grill sondern in der Pfanne gebraten, Garpunkt nicht wirklich erreicht und auch nicht gleichmäßig, Ruhezeit vom Fleisch wurde auch nicht eingehalten….das sollte bei einem 70 Euro Filet nicht sein. Zum Service, auch nicht wirklich gut und aufmerksam. Am Nachbartisch wurde der Hund des Besitzers hofiert und bekam sein Futter am Tisch serviert. Abgeräumt wurde auch viel zu spät an manchen Tischen so dass sich die neuen Gäste am Eingang stapelten. Ehrlich, wohlfühlen und ein gutes Essen geniessen geht anders. Hier regiert ein Chichi Publikum und 20 Jährige voll gelangweilte Gesichter die große Teller bestellen und 3/4 davon zurückgehen lassen. Voll dekandent. Sorry aber hier stimmt nichts. War der 1. und ganz sicher der letzte Besuch. Absolut keine Empfehlung.

Wir waren jetzt nach einer sehr langen Pause wieder mal voller Vorfreude im Restaurant. Und voll enttäuscht!! Mein Filet war sehr gut! Aber der Sevice ist für diese Preise ein Unding! Sehr schlecht geworden. Und sehr unaufmerksam. Zudem wurde uns ein völlig verschmiertes Weinglas hingestellt. Es wurde zwar anstandslos ausgetauscht, aber wie gesagt, für das viele Geld möchte ich es perfekt haben!
