We were there in the afternoon (self-service), and it was almost completely empty. It still took a while for someone to appear behind the self-service counter. Drinks (a 0.33 liter soft drink) cost 4.50, but you get them from the fridge when you order, and you can even open them yourself. Lunch specials, which were actually available, are only listed on a display at the entrance; there was no information about them at the table. It's a shame, really, because the food is delicious. But it's still out of the question for us, also due to the relatively high prices and almost nonexistent service.

Super friendly staff, great service, great prices, and incredibly delicious food. If you're in the area, definitely stop by.

Unfortunately, the food used to be better. Today's dish tasted like rice with ketchup! The service also left a lot to be desired: it wasn't particularly attentive or friendly.

It's a bit pricey, but the chicken sub with chili dip and lime is one of the best bites I've had recently, and the portion is big enough to share for a midday snack (you have to ask for the lime slice and chili dip).

The noodles with peanut dressing tasted exclusively of lemongrass, which was disappointing. Given the steep prices, I'm not recommending them.

They pretend to be an Asian restaurant but serve you spelt noodles and other stuff that the typical Asian has probably never heard of.

Food was so underwhelming I couldn’t dare finish it. Gunpowder fries that tasted like water??? Noodles that tasted old and weird - the people were friendly but at what cost :-(

We had the Dragon Bowl with Tofu (fried tofu with sambal sauce, peppers, jasmine rice, coriander for €18) and the Black Dal Both tasted good, the dal was very aromatic. There is also a limited but interesting selection of dishes, some with vegetarian/vegan options. However, the prices are pretty steep for what you get. We used NeoTaste and it works somewhat.

Food is good, unfortunately way too expensive. The subs are served on a plastic tray and there isn't even a glass for the drinks. You pay just under €20 for a chicken sub + €4.5 for a bottle of soft drink. Absolutely not recommended for groups either, as tables are only allocated for 2 hours. Unfortunately, we were only informed of this when we were there. I can't recommend that.

Not authentic at all. The food is soooo bad as if the cook's never eaten any Asian food before. The noodles are soooo salty and without any other veggies, which costs 14 Euros btw.

Spicetrails is now an integral part of Freiburg! Southeast Asian cuisine is creative, fresh and full of exciting flavors - perfect for anyone who enjoys good food. The atmosphere is modern and cozy, the service is super friendly. I always like to bring friends here when they are in Freiburg and they are always thrilled!

Modern restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, creative, delicious cuisine and very friendly service. Freshly prepared dishes are offered that surprise you, something incomparable in Freiburg. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately the food was quite a disappointment for me :-( I don't live in Freiburg, I'm in the hospital here and had it delivered to me. I love Thai salad. I know this restaurant is "cross over" cuisine, but the salad really had nothing to do with som tam. Too much lemon and no chili, not my taste at all. However, it was fresh and crunchy. The "crispy" tofu was crispy, but had neither been marinated nor seasoned beforehand. The peanut dip that I had ordered was simply inedible for me. Fries were ok. Maybe I'm just spoiled because I'm passionate about vegan and Asian cooking. It's a shame in any case, I was looking forward to this meal days before.

The food wasn't 100% authentic, but still very good. Unfortunately it is very loud in the guest room. You definitely have to make a reservation.

Food was good, fresh ingredients and great fluffy baguette. Prices moderate, not necessarily cheap. The tip request on the payment machine (10/15/20%) is simply cheeky given that we haven't had the food yet and haven't been served yet. Too bad

Order lunch at the counter at the front. Followed by direct payment and the card reader asking you to tip at least 10%. Even though I generally find the query annoying, the 10%, 15% and 20% tip levels (I think that's what they were) are outrageous. Especially because I can't even judge the food and I just order at the counter. That's actually the reason for me not to come back because I don't want to support something like that. And I actually always tip at least 10% for average performance. I thought the food was okay, but the rice wasn't quite cooked and quite dry.

Service was ok. Food was very poor to say the least, and completely over priced for what it is. Beef curry wasn't curry at all, meat poorly cooked, and we couldn't find any flavour in this dish. Felt like frozen food serve at the table. We were excited to see the "Mango sticky rice" in the menu, it's not the Thai dessert, not even similar. It is just warm rice with a mango mermelada, without coconut sauce, all flavourless as well. The best was my Ganter bottled beer. We couldn't believe it eyes when saw the score of the reviews. Maybe something changed here. We won't come back, felt like a waste of date, time and money.

They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options alongside some meat options. My friend got the fish and chips, which she liked a lot. I got the tofu sub with fries (which was amazing and a great portion), and my partner got the vegan bowl. We all really enjoyed the food— it’s full of flavor and the portions are good for the price. The service is also nice— but note that you order at the counter and then they will bring your meal to your table. If you’re in Freiburg and are looking for vegan food, I highly suggest this place.

We went there for dinner but without reservation. We got a corner table facing the wall. The waitress was rude and impolite. Indonesian noodles were too salty and the chicken laksa was disappointing. Menu and reviews lead to higher expectations, but never again!

Selection and taste is outstanding. You can tell that a lot of effort was put into the ingredients and the composition. I can only recommend it! The branch in Rieselfeld is also great.

Indian home cooking would be great! On December 13th, 2024 Ralph and I were at Spice Trails for the first time. We chose this restaurant because we read interesting things about it in the Badische Zeitung. The ambience was more sober than we had imagined, but the noise level was pleasant in the early evening. The service was friendly and we had our drinks quickly. Unfortunately, my dish - lentil curry - was a disappointment. I couldn't taste what spices were used. But they didn't work together and too much of one spice had been used. The yoghurt that was to be served with it was in a thin spiral on the warm lentils. Here I would like more yogurt in a separate bowl. During my travels to India, I often ate traditional home cooking. Simple, cooked with few ingredients and a lot of love! I have never had anything like this in a German restaurant. But maybe that's asking too much?

We had made a reservation and were really looking forward to the meal because we had read an interesting article about the restaurant in the BZ. Unfortunately we had to be annoyed by the very arrogant and unfriendly service with the piercings. So we left without eating.

DE / EN below In Freiburg you really have to come here. We were looking for a dinner location not too far away from our centrally located hotel and came across Spicetrails. Local ingredients, organic and also vegan options? Sounded promising and in the end it was. It really tasted so delicious. We had Indonesian noodles (to die for!), Laksa (curry mie noodles with breaded tofu) and lentil dal with rice. Everything tasted good without exception. Compared to the first two, the lentil dal was slightly less good but still excellent. The noodles and laksa tasted very tasty, were nicely presented and the portions were a good size. But the taste made me wish I never stopped eating. The restaurant is small, service was quick and the food came quickly. Now nothing where you can go out for a fancy meal, but the taste is simply great. All in all a 10/10 for me. —- We had Indonesian noodles (a dream!), Laksa (curry noodle soup with crispy tofu), and lentil dal with rice. Everything tasted absolutely delicious. Compared to the first two dishes, the lentil dal was slightly less impressive, but still excellent. The noodles and the laksa were bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and the portions were a good size. The taste was so incredible that I never wanted to stop eating. The restaurant is small, the service was pretty quick, and the food arrived promptly. It’s not a place for fancy dining, but the flavors are simply top-notch. All in all, a solid 10/10 for me.

Normally very happy with the food. I noticed on my return that 1) the portions are a lot smaller and 2) in the beef curry that is my favourite dish the meat was drier than sand. I pointed this out to the two servers. One might have expected a complimentary espresso, but there was very little interest. A shame as I'd bigged up the dish to my friend. My dish was excellent.

We've eaten there a few times already. The concept, the quality, the connection of the different Asian styles and regional influences. Strong. So at the beginning of the year I celebrated my birthday with you. We were about 25 people. The contact was uncomplicated beforehand, changes were no problem and my advance wishes for the menu were even more than fulfilled. The service was great, relaxed. Everything in view. Apero with the hot spicy fries. The subs for the children and our salads, starters, curries and dumplings. Dessert. Cracker. And everything on the table to share with each other. Good wine and a great selection of drinks. Also non-alcoholic. It's needed sometimes ;) There was also good music. Thanks for that!

Order confirmed by email from Lieferando at 20:50. Restaurant calls me at 22 saying that the kitchen closed at 21:30. What kind of service is this? I’m sorry but nope.

Always very tasty. It's great that there are so many vegan, delicious dishes here. The Korean bowl with tofu is particularly delicious. It's a shame that many of the reviews don't understand that this restaurant is Asian Fusion and not an authentic restaurant.

So overall the experience was bad. I ordered a spicy dish, but the spice definitely got lost in the trail. The food was so oily, America would come to invade it. Instead of noodles they just used normal spaghetti pasta. The waitress did not even clean our table and It took forever to get her attention to pay the bill. Additionally the prices are to high for such a poor quality.

Went there as a family with 3 children. Very cool shop with a great menu and great atmosphere. Very tasty Asian food, lots of vegetarian and vegan but also with meat and fish.

Das Spicetrails ist eines meiner Lieblingsrestaurants in Freiburg. Sehr leckere südostasiatische Küche. Tolle Specials wie Wine&Dine und 3+4-Gänge-Menüs in Kooperation mit einem Heidelberger Koch. Coole Atmosphäre im Stammlokal in der City. Einziger Wehmutstropfen - “früher” hat die Karte deutlich öfters gewechselt. Das fand ich toll, weil es so immer etwas Neues zu entdecken gab. Das hat in den letzten Monaten etwas nachgelassen, die Karte hat sich seither nicht mehr geändert. Das ist schade, deswegen gibt es auch nur 4 statt 5 Punkte.

The food was delicious. The ambience is really cool and the restaurant is right in the city center. The waitress, however, the young lady with the piercings, was a disaster. She was extremely rude and disrespectful towards us. The order was taken half-heartedly and there were also stupid sayings. Such a work ethic is truly bad for business. It's a shame... so we won't be coming back.

My last evening in Freiburg ended at Spicetrails with Korean Bowl and turmeric tea. The service was very nice, the food came quickly and, above all, was really tasty. The chicken was very flavorful and tender, the kimchi was tasty and the rice was spot on. I would have liked sticky rice better, but that's personal preference. Overall great.

I ordered chicken with sweet and sour sauce, it was a very small portion and the chicken was very thin. Sitting inside is also very uncomfortable as you sit right next to the kitchen and are disturbed by the noises all the time. Overall, the food wasn't tasty, the portion was far too small and the atmosphere was anything but pleasant.

I had Korean vegan bowl, it was alright but I wouldn’t say it was great. In terms of price I found it expensive. I think it could be better, the flavours where not according to the price and the hype they set. All in all it was a fine experience the girl who took my order was so sweet and accommodating.

I have rarely eaten something so delicious (tempura cauliflower and black dal). A little spicy was the ideal level of spiciness for me, who doesn't really tolerate spicy food well.

We saw the restaurant on Tiktok and had high expectations. The restaurant is nicely designed and the service is good. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food... we ordered a dish without coriander, but there was a lot of coriander on it. The salad was drenched in dressing and the Thai curry was far too runny. For this disappointment the visit was already expensive.

The store was fine. The service was definitely nice and on the ball. Was there for a little snack in the evening. Good location & pleasant atmosphere. Prices were definitely pretty decent for the little things I enjoyed there.

kleines, schmales Lokal( etwas dunkel) im Bermudadreieck. Bestellt wird vorne an der Theke im Self Service. Wir hatten ein Duo von zwei verschiedenen Curry zum probieren. Restaurant an sich war sauber, wir waren zur Mittagszeit da, es war halb gefüllt. Bedienung war freundlich. Nun zum Essen: geschmacklich kann ich den anderen Bewertungen hier nicht zu stimmen. es war jetzt nicht schlecht, aber es waren keine fünf Sterne. Ich war selbst viel in Asien unterwegs und kenne die Küche sehr gut.

Since the market hall didn't appeal to us due to the lack of seating, we came across your restaurant. The food tasted delicious and better than expected. The service also gets a straight A! We also found the ambience great and the music chosen to accompany it. The toilet area is also clean. We need a restaurant like this in the north!

I can't say anything about the service or the ambience since I ordered something. The food is really good and fresh, which is probably why it's a bit more expensive, but you might want to correct the "order" card. The homemade oil, which is offered surprisingly cheaply, does not contain 50ml (unfortunately ^^) - at most 20ml or less.

Very tasty, lots of fresh herbs, especially the fries are highly recommended. I just find it a bit annoying that you have to leave early because the table has to be available again

The fried chicken sub is highly recommended. Together with the fries it is a very tasty combination. I couldn't find any Asian beer (it would have fit the concept very well) but it's a great location for a quick, delicious meal in a cool atmosphere.

Weekend trip to Freiburg and you are looking for a good location for good cuisine. Spice trails were recommended and there. What can you say? The name definitely says it all here!! Set off and discover the world of spices! The name Spicetrails says nothing else. It's worth diving into the dishes and tasting the different flavors. The menu is clear and, thank God, not as overloaded as is often the case. Less is often more!! The wine recommendations were absolutely consistent with the dishes and were a real pleasure. The beer selection is also highly recommended and is a great alternative for non-wine drinkers. In addition, there is a highly attentive, courteous service that, in my opinion, served the guests excellently at all times. Last but not least, it should be noted that the majority of ingredients are used from local suppliers. For me, that's where sustainability begins, top!!! Thumbs up for this hot spot in Freiburg, absolutely recommended!!!!

Imagine you come to a restaurant and every time you see only females working there. At this restaurant it's like that just the other way around. It's a place that seem to employ only male for some reason. The world have more than 1 sex... Secondly, from day 1 this business chose to use a paying method that puts the customer in an awkward position at the payment part. Before being able to pay, they make you press buttons about the tip amount, even when you just buy take away! So rude and awkward... why would you do that to customers? And the cherry on the top - if you don't press anything and just place your card so the machin will charge the amount you supposed to pay - it will charge yip automatically!!! Crazy. Nice food, but guys, you gotta change some things there...

A really cozy restaurant with very friendly service. The food was also really good, but the prices were high for the quantity. I'm happy to pay almost €20 for a curry with really tasty fried aubergines, but the amount of curry can hardly be called a curry; I had to eat half of the rice almost dry. And it included maybe 7-8 pieces of other vegetables. I think that's a bit outrageous for a curry - no matter the price. It's a shame, because everything else was great!!
