Great restaurant with fantastic food and super friendly service. Everything was freshly prepared with love and care. All our requests were fulfilled, and we were even given extra food when needed. We also received a complimentary appetizer. Thank you again, and we will definitely be back next time.

Delicious food and very good service.

We went there spontaneously, just the two of us. We were quickly and politely shown to a free table. The complimentary appetizer (baguette with aioli) was delicious and whetted our appetites. We ordered fish, of course, but even those who don't like fish will find something to their liking on the menu. The food arrived quickly and was very tasty. The prices were also perfectly reasonable. We enjoyed everything so much that we went back again the very next evening. So we can definitely recommend this restaurant.

In my opinion, the best fish restaurant in Cuxhaven. The fish I ordered was very tasty, tender, and juicy. The service was friendly and attentive. You can pay in cash or by debit card. Reservations can be made via WhatsApp. Absolutely fantastic.

The food was plentiful and incredibly delicious! At first glance, the restaurant is slightly underrated, but the quality is evident from the very first bite. The staff is friendly and attentive. We especially recommend the fish soup as a starter; it's an absolute highlight! We'd definitely be back.

A trip back in time...not to everyone's taste. We received a warm welcome even without a reservation. The waiters were attentive and friendly. But both the decor and the music were already out of date 30 years ago and seemed just as strangely old-fashioned as the food. The meat dishes were solid, but unfortunately lacking in flair or refinement. The fish on its own was great, but the potatoes were undercooked, the sauce bland, and the salad was yesterday's and sad to look at. The serving style was just as old-fashioned as the music.

We went on a whim and were warmly welcomed even without a reservation. We immediately received a welcome from the kitchen: a baguette with aioli dip, very tasty. We had two of the Büsum-style plaice, and they were delicious. The ambiance is lovely, and all the servers were very friendly. The price-performance ratio was perfectly fine. We found the bottle of refreshing hand spray for after dinner to be a very nice touch. Highly recommended.

Best fish of the week! We (4) spent a week in Cuxhaven to enjoy the sea and, of course, fresh fish. First of all: We've never eaten so well in a week. In our opinion, the food in Cuxhaven is top-notch. At least as far as fish restaurants go, we haven't eaten better anywhere else. The "Seute Deern" clearly exceeds the already high standards. The fish was fresh, juicy, and delicious. Everything tasted excellent. The portions were large enough that even I, who likes to tuck in, was truly full. We love fish and the "Seute Deern." For that reason alone, we'll be back. We would also like to give a special thank you to the owner and his staff. After a long walk, we stopped in without a reservation, and although the restaurant was packed, we received a friendly welcome and were seated. The fish platter we ordered was delicious, succulently fried and flavorful; however, it only had two types of fish and was a bit more expensive than similar restaurants in the area. We felt very comfortable in the lovely ambiance, even though we had to wait a bit longer for our food.

A restaurant that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in. This was by far the best plaice I've had in a long time. The freshly fried fried potatoes were "simply amazing"! My wife's steak was perfectly cooked, with a delicious peppercorn sauce and a side salad, just as perfect as everything else. The service was friendly and always with a smile. We've been coming to Cux for many years and wondered why we hadn't come here sooner. We'll be back from now on, and we've already reserved a table for our next visit!

We were there for dinner. The service was friendly. We waited a long time for the food. Unfortunately, the plaice died twice with a lot of roasted flavors. For that price, I would have preferred a salad. There were only two slices of tomato, a piece of melon for whatever reason, and a piece of lemon. I wouldn't go back.

The cod was out, and instead they served the run-of-the-mill redfish. An uncomfortable two-person table next to the bar. The taste was okay, but the price was significantly too high. I'd like to add that the side dishes for both of us were crammed onto a much too small tray, with only a tablespoon included. The three small boiled potatoes from the packet were swimming in water, the Dijon mustard sauce was barely thickened and just ran all over the plate. I also didn't understand the two bay leaves in the gravy boat, especially since there was no sauce spoon. The bacon in the fried potatoes was practically raw; they would have benefited from less fat. The decoration on the plates consisted of a small slice of watermelon and a squeeze of lemon, a careless detail, unnecessary when the fish is truly fresh. Regarding the restaurant's overcrowding: it wasn't when we arrived. And when we left, there were still a few tables free. Unfortunately, we also had to wait at least 30 minutes for our food. Unfortunately, the fish selection is not large if you don't like frozen shrimp from East Asia.

We were in the beer garden. My fish was bone dry. So it probably wasn't freshly cooked. What a shame.

Since I'm in poor health and can only eat smaller portions, I ordered a children's portion, which was refused. After personally consulting the counter staff, I was told that they don't make money from smaller portions. The portion was, as an exception, a children's portion. I was only offered soup, which I politely declined. Neither my family nor I frequent this restaurant. Furthermore, after this disappointment, I will not recommend the Deern website to anyone. 😡😡 Response: I was offered soup, but I had absolutely no appetite for soup. The children's menu didn't cost €6, but €8.90. I was not offered a senior citizen's plate, as the owner falsely claimed. There were six people at the table, including myself.

Wow, this is what makes eating out fun 🥳 The service is courteous, attentive but not intrusive, coupled with friendliness, and everyone works hand in hand. When eating, you can feel the passion of the chefs: fresh ingredients, nicely presented, but you won't find any frills or bling, but the taste is amazing, even the filling side dish is instantly recognizable. Everything inside is very well-maintained, and the outside is also a pleasant place to linger. A very good insider tip if you want a quiet, discreet meal...

This was our fourth visit to Cuxhaven and, unfortunately, our first (and not last) visit to "Seute Deern." A reservation isn't necessary even during peak season, as we could have found space in the beer garden or indoors, starving from a day at the beach. We received a very friendly welcome, the service was fast and attentive, and the chef took time for small talk. "Special requests" like a tasty and drinkable gin and tonic were readily accommodated. The whole plaice "Büsum style" with crab and fried potatoes is highly recommended. The "greeting from the kitchen" served beforehand: fresh baguette with aioli also deserves several points. The value for money and the very personal contact with the guests rounded off the evening "alongside" the food. Best wishes from Leipzig! (also worth a visit 😉 - a little insider tip).

On June 16, 2025, my wife and I had dinner here. Since neither of us can tolerate shrimp, we ordered our dishes without shrimp, for which we were promised a discount. When the bill arrived, there was no mention of this. The "boss?" explained to us that it wasn't their fault that we didn't like shrimp and therefore couldn't reduce the price. We declined the offered aquavit and left the restaurant! I consider this a rip-off of tourists. So be careful, folks!

We came from Duhnen and wanted to have fish for dinner. We were hoping for a table without a reservation, but luckily that wasn't a problem. Friendly staff and good food. Delicious fish soup and great fish. The meat dishes were also delicious and beautifully presented. We didn't have to wait long for the hot food. We'd be happy to come back.

We were in Cuxhaven again for five days and ate at Seute Deern three times, twice in different restaurants. We would definitely eat at Seute Deern again, as we believe the food is the best in terms of taste and quality.

Always a hit! The Seute Deern in Döse has been my first choice for really good fish for years. I come regularly with my family – and it has never disappointed us. Fresh, delicious, consistently top quality – and that's been the case for many years. The beer garden is the icing on the cake when the weather's good – super relaxed, truly pleasant. There's parking right outside, which is super convenient, especially since I travel from a neighboring town every time. For all fish fans: an absolute recommendation!

Went here again today for a family celebration. Excellent food, especially the roast beef, which was very tender and delicious! Highly recommended if you value good food and good service.

We had the lemon fillet, pan-fried scampi, and captain's plate. The service was nice, friendly, and quick. We weren't entirely sure what the bottle of Turkish rose water was for without a finger bowl and towel on the table, or rather, it wasn't explained to us. A bit difficult for those with gluten or lactose intolerance. The food is really perfectly fine. Beautifully presented on fish-shaped glass plates. The old classics aren't very modern. The ambiance is rustic and quaint. The music takes some getting used to (all the German hits from the 70s and 80s). The prices are on the higher end. Having been there once, it's perfectly fine.

Doesn't accept Visa cards. There's no mention of this on the menu or when ordering. When paying, we were told it was posted on the entrance door. We were sitting outside, and the door was open, so there was no chance of seeing it.

Unfortunately, I didn't taste much of the plaice; it was dripping with frying fat. I don't understand fried food at all. The fried potatoes were also very greasy. It might taste good at first, but towards the end, it was really unpleasant if you were expecting a light fish dish. The staff was very enthusiastic and always friendly, and everything went extremely quickly. It did feel a bit like a fast-food restaurant at times.

Were here for dinner on April 20, 2025. The restaurant's interior is a bit old, but it has its charm. When ordering food, however, you unfortunately noticed that you were a little behind the times here. Unfortunately, you won't find a single vegetarian main course on the entire menu (which largely consists of fish). Simply no longer appropriate for a restaurant in 2025. As an alternative there was a mixed salad with fried potatoes and fried eggs. The service tried very hard, but there were some carelessness when ordering: two of the five drinks we ordered were incorrect (beer instead of Radler, Pilsner instead of wheat) and we were only given the bill after several questions. One thing that shouldn't happen like that: When the vegetarian main course was ordered, bacon was served with the fried potatoes. Overall, you could tell that the service staff were still very young and inexperienced - mistakes can happen. What should be highlighted positively is that all errors were corrected immediately and without any complaints. Overall the food was ok. Only the potato salad that was served tasted a lot like the packaged one from the supermarket. The plaice could also have been fried a little less crispy (it almost looked like it was fried). All in all, a nice evening, even if we can't understand the high 4.7 star rating. There is simply a lack of quality in all the points described.

We were there today on Easter Sunday and were absolutely thrilled with the food. The fish and the schnitzel were great, as were the fries and fried potatoes. The food, drinks and service were truly a 10/10, we will definitely be back!

Hello - for our father's birthday we went hiking on the mudflats and wanted to have a nice meal afterwards. So we looked where there was something decent near Döse/Duhnen. The tip came from a small restaurant on the corner 800 meters away where there was no room for 6 people enter!!! We would be happy to come back. We spontaneously ate here at the end of October 2024 and it was simply brilliant. My husband had a super fresh, juicy and delicious plaice Finkenwerder style and he said that he has never eaten a better plaice. ❤️ I had a pan of pasta in a tomato garlic sauce with shrimp. And what can I say, it was simply delicious and really garlicky. First of all there was a delicious homemade Auolo with bread! Simply a successful evening with very nice service!

Food is good. The waiter (older gentleman with gray hair) doesn't work at all. Totally arrogant and says to one of us that she is too corpulent and that she should move because the table behind us needs space. I have never seen anything so contemptible. Actually You would have had to get up and leave the shop. We left €290 there and at the end we were charged for the round of schnapps, no wonder why so many people go to the Greek restaurants. Edit 1.1.25: It's unbelievable to describe such an answer. Crazy. No wonder that word is getting around all over Duhnen. Zero ability to criticize, miserable management House rules. After such an answer only deserves 1 star!
