Always delicious fish at moderate prices. Gladly again.

This was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. The food was extremely sparse and of poor quality. My friend and I found this place by chance and I have to say that for the price you get food that tastes like it was reheated. Our bill for two people came to 45.60 euros, and after leaving the restaurant we went to another restaurant to have another proper meal. I would definitely not recommend this place.

Today we had the fish platter for 2! The fish selection was okay, the fish itself was well fried, but unfortunately very fatty! The beer batter was not crispy, but full of fat and therefore soggy and not tasty! The other fish fillets also had more than the usual greasy shine! The fried potatoes and the tartar sauce were ok. We explained our concerns to the waiter and the criticism was warmly received. As an apology we were offered a dessert or drink, which was very nice. We limited ourselves to a schnapps after dinner. The starter salad was also okay, as was the house bread with the 2 dips.

This is how a fish restaurant should be! The two of us ate here today on our last bike tour evening. First of all, the “Nordic” bruschetta, which tasted fantastic and was really appetizing. For the main course I had pasta and fish, finely balanced, prepared to perfection and beautifully presented on the plate. Fresh and well-seasoned food, simply very good. My wife had plaice with fried potatoes and crabs. Also a really very rich and delicious plate. Unfortunately, it's too much for them (but it's always in the eye or gut of the beholder). The service was attentive and very friendly without being intrusive. The ambience is very nice, fitting for a rustic fish house. Price-performance ratio was also good, absolute recommendation and would be happy to do so again. My personal icing on the cake: Zwickel beer in an iced clay mug. Overall, just a perfect evening, thank you very much.

For us, Hus op'n Dieck has been a part of a holiday in Cuxhaven for over 20 years (for my husband it has actually been for 40 years). And we are never disappointed here. The food is always delicious and the service and ambience are great too! Our dog is always welcome too. We'll definitely be back 😊🫶

We had beer battered redfish. It was very tasty, but it could have been a little more for the price. The crab soup was ok. The waiters were quick and friendly. There were pictures of delicious iced tea on the table, which the children were looking forward to. They then got Fuze iced tea in a bottle for €4.50. That was disappointing. Also no card payment possible. It would be good if this was also announced on the homepage!

Eating out as a single person is often a difficult undertaking. You are often seated at a not so nice table. The photos with the empty tables do not show my table. The service was otherwise good. The food was okay, but the fried potatoes were a bit too greasy. Overall it was ok.

Unfortunately the service was subpar. There was no Hugo Spritz, which was advertised and was only available in this restaurant. Beer wasn't cold and drinks came with the food. We had two plaices that were really poorly seasoned and the potato salad was ice cold. Never again.

We hebben hier goed vis gegeten. De bediening was ook prima. We hebben tip gegeven via de kaart. We hebben duidelijk gezegd maak er €83 van. Waarom is er dan €84,95 ingetoetst (en op basis van goedvertrouwen afgerekend). Die klanken zijn in het Duits ook totaal anders voor deze bedragen. Jammer.

Very good home-style food, friendly service and as a highlight: Franconian beer from Bayreuth. We found it great on site and adapted to the region.

I found the experience to be somewhat lacking in charm. The ambiance, both inside and outside, felt more like being on a busy thoroughfare rather than a cozy dining spot. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and attentive, which was a highlight of the visit. However, the food itself was just average. My meal was a bit too greasy for my taste, which detracted from the overall enjoyment. In summary, while the service was commendable, the overall experience was just okay. There is definitely room for improvement, especially in creating a more inviting atmosphere and refining the dishes.

You can also eat outside here. Delicious!

Our visit to Hus op’n Diek was a real highlight! The atmosphere in the restaurant is incredibly cozy and impresses with its maritime flair. Although there is no direct view of the water, you immediately feel like you are on the coast - the loving, maritime decoration contributes to this perfectly. The service was super friendly, relaxed and attentive. We felt very welcome from the start. The food was fantastic! I enjoyed the plaice fillet, which was cooked to perfection - tender and full of flavor. My partner chose the whole plaice and was just as thrilled. Both dishes were fresh, tasty and perfectly paired with matching side dishes. Particularly positive is the special Hugo that we tried here - refreshing and an original, delicious variant that we didn't know before. Overall, a great evening in a maritime atmosphere with excellent food and great service. Hus op’n Diek is highly recommended – we would love to come back!

It was thanks to the bus that we saw the fish restaurant "Hus op'n Dieck". And so we arrived there later. It was still closed but we have time We ordered the fish platter “Jan Cux” with a hefeweizen. The Hus op'n Dieck filled up quite quickly and we just enjoyed sitting at the table Then came the large hot plate, and a little later the fish plate. Since we love hot food, we decided not to eat the plates but to enjoy the fish straight from the plate. And it had it all...really finally fish the way we like it. Delicious, well prepared and cooked. But the fish quickly got cold. Yes why? Solution the heating plate was cold on the outside. Just lukewarm in the middle. A mistake. Cold heating plate! Mustn't happen. Now our fish plate was reheated and the heating plate was replaced with a hot plate. It can happen but... No matter the fish was great, the fish platter corrected the stupid mistake to full marks. Yes, the heating plate is not always hot. We'd love to come back.

The food is still very tasty and the staff is still in a good mood. What was striking, however, was the enormous amount of fish that was served to us. I remembered it a little differently. The last piece actually had to be persuaded to find its way into the mouth.

Unfortunately I have to complain. We sat for 15 minutes. No one came to the table... 3 tables away there were 4 people sitting in front of us. After asking several times, they received the menus... After another 10 minutes we got up and left. THERE WAS NOTHING GOING ON...So it wasn't stressful

The first establishment that happened on the way, where we stopped for lunch. I ordered a salad with shrimp, bruschetta with Nordic seafood (shrimp, haddock, herring). French fries later. Portions are huge, everything is delicious. The service is pleasant and fast. The interior is decorated in a marine style: on the walls there are photos and paintings on sea and fish themes.

Everything is very tasty! The service is really fast. Portions are very large. The restaurant itself is located not far from the observation deck, so you can find it very quickly. We ordered pasta with fish (large fish fillet, pasta with fresh tomatoes). There was also a shrimp salad. Shrimps are very tasty. One serving of fries is huge. In summary, you won't leave hungry ☺️ I recommend!

We visited this restaurant several times on our last vacation in Cux. Same this year. But that was probably the last time. The service has become terrible. A completely new team was employed On the first visit, the waitress in the restaurant always had to calculate which table we had every time we ordered. With a bill with a tip of 80.- she had to calculate what she would have to give out on 100.-. She had us confirm the 20th again. On the second visit we sat outside at a table that was still untidy. We had to wait about 15 minutes (even though the waiter checked several times) until the table was cleared. The starter came without the beer we ordered with an iced mug. When asked, the waiter said he had already seen it on the counter inside. After asking again, the beer came. The mugs weren't iced ("we're out of iced ones") and the beer was room temperature. We had it returned. The next time we tried we got a slightly chilled beer, the new, uniced mugs came later, so we drank from the bottle at first. The food (panfish) was good. We had to contact us several times to pay. There are other restaurants in the area with much better service and just as good food, for example the restaurant "Stormflut" We later found out from a Cuxhaven resident that the restaurant is doing very badly (bankrupt) and that the restaurant in Sahlenburg is already closed. The restaurant only survives on tourist visits in the summer months, as the locals are busy the rest of the year. Because of the increasingly poor service (even from the previous team), we can no longer go there. If we are in Cuxhaven again next year, we won't go there anymore.

Very cozy atmosphere, you immediately feel at home. The service was very friendly and accommodating, with North German charm. The fish was cooked to perfection, the fried potatoes were really spicy, the Bismark herring was as it should be and the crabs as well, simply an excellent dish (captain's plate). The red jelly for dessert was pleasantly sour, which went perfectly with the vanilla sauce. We will definitely eat there again on our next vacation in Cuxhaven.

We were there a few days ago and were completely thrilled. Great and delicious food. And even though the staff was totally understaffed, they did a great job. What I really didn't like was the way the boss treated his staff. Instead of praising or perhaps even helping, he just blamed his great team. That's not right. Because they were really great!

The restaurant was always a good and important address for us to complement our vacation. Unfortunately this time we couldn't find the usual quality. We like to order panfish: fish unfortunately died twice, completely cooked through and dry, fried potatoes very fat and mushy, side salad dominated by radiccio, quantity very clear and for 6.90 euros. The reaction to our criticism was positive, we were offered a replacement or a drink on the house. Nevertheless, the recipe and quality have changed...which is a shame

Loveless presentation. Very unsuitable price-performance ratio 120€ for bad food. For €21.50 plaice with potatoes is such a small portion that you can't get enough. Very dry potatoes and lemons so apparently older. The schnitzel and the fries were very dry and there was no lemon or at least a little green and nothing, not even ketchup and mayo until asked. We also complained about it but our criticism was ignored. No apology, no greeting from the kitchen or an accomodation. Music also terrible (children's songs) and loud. We will not come back no recommendation!

For us it was the first and last time. Drinks arrived incorrectly. My daughter had 8 large pieces of ice cream in it that weren't even ordered. After I fished them all out, there was only half a glass full. The rest was ice cream. Food didn't arrive properly either, half of it was missing. And on the menu that was until 4 p.m. where we ordered the food, the price was not charged as it was written on, but the full price. There was such a mess when paying that the tables were swapped. Something mixed up in everything. The restaurant would no longer be an option for us.

We were guests today and treated ourselves to the fish platter for two people. The portion of salad as a starter salad was huge, crunchy, fresh and had a delicious dressing. The fried potatoes were delicious, just as fried potatoes should be, deliciously seasoned and crispy. The fish... a dream. The taste was wonderful. Here's a big compliment to the kitchen! The friendly and attentive service staff should also be highlighted. We and the dog had our drinks at the table really quickly. The ambience is really maritime and lovingly detailed.
