The service was very friendly and the restaurant looked great. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that great. We all had three half-raw potatoes (potato salad, fried potatoes, and boiled potatoes). The fish and shrimp were good.

Everything was truly a success. I had a plaice fillet with potato salad; the food was excellent and arrived promptly. The fish was fresh and very well prepared, and the potato salad complemented it perfectly. I would especially like to highlight the extremely friendly and welcoming staff. We received attentive service and immediately felt welcome – something I certainly didn't take for granted. Although we were sitting outside, I was able to glimpse inside while using the restroom: very tastefully decorated, a mix of rustic and modern, with great attention to detail. A real highlight were the restrooms, wittily designed with sea and seagull sounds. It was original and put a smile on my face. A place I can definitely recommend, and one I certainly won't be visiting for the last time.

Not the usual tourist rip-off! Absolutely delicious, thick, lightly browned fish fillets, fried to perfection and crispy on the outside! Served with your choice of homemade potato salad or mixed salad. Changing orders is no problem and at no extra cost. And above all: moderate prices! Plus, super friendly service and impeccably clean restrooms! Seafood at its finest. The fish stall is right next door. For those who want something quick to grab and go...

We were in Cuxhaven from late May to early June and visited several different fish restaurants. This one was by far the best. Pleasant atmosphere, very friendly, attentive service, a good selection, very fresh fish, generous portions, and reasonable prices. We became repeat customers.

We went there for dinner. The staff is friendly and attentive. There's a wide selection of fish dishes, but even those who don't like fish will find something to their liking. There's a small selection of cocktails, and the food is beautifully presented.

The restaurant is very conveniently located, not far from the harbor. It's very cozy, and the service is very attentive and friendly. We had the lunch specials and found them absolutely delicious. I was also impressed by the salad dressing. I can also highly recommend the fish sandwiches. All in all, this restaurant is definitely worth a repeat visit.

Hello everyone, we were there for the third time and we were disappointed. Otherwise, everything was great and the food was very, very good, but unfortunately not today. We had the redfish with shrimp and bacon-wrapped beans and the plaice with potato salad (including freeze-dried parsley all over the salad). Unfortunately, the first plaice was still frozen inside. And the breading was thicker than the fish (frozen ready-made), and the potato salad was definitely also a ready-made product. The second plaice arrived quickly and looked just like the first. The bacon-wrapped beans, with an oriental spice, unfortunately didn't go well with the fish. The friendly waitress informed us that the chef had changed. She helped us get over it with a caramel liqueur. Nevertheless, it was a shame, as we drove two hours to eat there. Perhaps this review will be helpful, and we will of course try again. Best regards

My best dinner during my three-night stay in Cuxhaven last Ascension weekend! When I had a complete culinary disappointment at another restaurant the following evening, I immediately dreamed of returning to Hus op'n Diek. The food was so good and the price-performance ratio was fair. My portion of redfish (€17.90) was extremely generous and delicious. The homemade potato salad was also delicious and served with just the right amount of mayonnaise. To complement the fish, I treated myself to a delicious Aperol Spritz (€7.90). The service was busy, and many tables were reserved. However, one or two people were able to find a small table at short notice. However, reservations are highly recommended, in my opinion! Unfortunately, the service wasn't entirely attentive, and my request for a little more lemon was initially denied by a young lady who had previously shown difficulty delivering food plates to the correct tables. However, I finally got it sorted when I asked a colleague. In the basement, there are very clean and beautifully decorated restrooms with a nautical theme – even with the sound of the sea and the cries of seagulls playing over the speakers... a really sweet idea!

The staff is very attentive and friendly. The fried potatoes were too greasy for my liking, and I'm not used to beer-battered redfish – that could be improved. Next time, I'd rather have the beer batter and the fried potatoes not swimming in grease.

The restaurant's ambiance is very nice. You can sit inside or outside. The food was very, very tasty. We had the Hamburger Pannfisch and the Black Angus Burger. The portions were really large. The staff was friendly, but today they seemed a bit overwhelmed at times. Everyone seemed to be responsible for everything, which seemed a bit chaotic. Nevertheless, we felt comfortable and would eat there again anytime.

I had a chicken schnitzel. The meat was so dry I couldn't swallow it. I left it and reported my complaint to the waitress. The man just said he was sorry and would pass it on to the kitchen... no concession on price or anything else. I was there with my family, and everyone tried the chicken and confirmed my complaint. It's a real shame :-( We've always come here often and we enjoy it.

I can highly recommend this restaurant. We went there twice, and both the fish and the dessert were delicious. We went between meal times, so in the afternoon and once at lunch, so a reservation isn't necessary, but in the evening it is. The service was pleasant, as was the ambiance. You have to go downstairs to get to the restroom.

We were very satisfied! We took advantage of the fish sandwich deal in the morning and were so impressed that we came back for dinner. I highly recommend Küstenhugo 👍🏻 The food (crispy chicken burger & Labskaus) was also really great! I've never had such delicious, crispy fries. The prices were reasonable, too. It's definitely worth a visit!

This was our third time there, and it was truly delicious. We had a slightly more expensive fish platter for two, and afterward, we both agreed that it was absolutely the right decision. The young trainee not only wished a woman at the next table good health after she sneezed, but also offered her a new handkerchief. That was very thoughtful.

Leider war unsere Reservierung für unsere Gruppe aus 10 Personen einer anderen Gruppe gegeben worden und wir wurden an eine improvisierte Tischgruppe gesetzt, obwohl wir sehr pünktlich zur reservierten Zeit im Restaurant waren. Das war schon durchaus ärgerlich. Durch die hohe Auslastung war der Service verständlicherweise etwas langsamer, aber stets bemüht. Die angebotenen Speisen waren gut, nur die Bratkartoffeln zum panierten Seelachs waren schlapp, nur sehr mühsam als Bratkartoffeln erkennbar. Sehr schade! Aber der Fisch war gut.

I would eat here again and again. Because of the information that EC payments sometimes don't work, I was worried because I didn't have enough cash with me. But it was very possible. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. I had redfish, it was a good amount of food, tasty and high quality, also attractively presented. Overall a first class visit.

Sehr nettes Personal, sehr freundlich. Das Essen schmeckt sehr, sehr lecker... Zanderfilet.. Schollefilet sowie Rotbatsch... alles wird frisch zubereitet. Das Ambiente ist sehr uhrig, genau so stellt man sich ein Fischrestaurant vor. Wir haben vorsorglich immer reserviert und wir kommen gern wieder.

Thank you very much. . 5 years ago: We had dinner at the restaurant last weekend. We had a nice spot on the terrace in front of the house. We ate the cuxland fish platter with 4 types of fish, boiled potatoes, salad and tartar sauce. The redfish was in beer batter and unfortunately not as good as the remaining 3 types... they were very good. The tartar sauce was too vinegary for me, but that's always a bit of a matter of taste. The portion was very generous! Despite the very high temperature, the service was very friendly and competent.

Really recommended. Small on the outside, but big on the inside. Typical North German hospitality. Reasonably large portions. Deliciously prepared. Dessert is always possible. Addendum, because we were there again this evening. When the food comes to the table, it's really hot. Rarely get food this hot in a restaurant.

The door was then closed by the staff 🤍The restaurant has a typical harbor style, which we liked. The toilets are beautifully decorated in a maritime style and emphasized by funny sounds, such as seagulls crowing. Great, we'll be happy to come back on our next visit.

Yesterday the three of us were there for a schnitzel meal. What can I say...it was excellent. You immediately notice that the food is cooked with love. Fresh schnitzel with delicious homemade sauces and crispy fries. The service was super nice and quick, especially the young girl who always had an eye on my glass and took great care of me. Another great evening in a maritime atmosphere with excellent food and great service. There was a fisherman's breakfast and delicious zander fillet. For dessert there was Tartufo Bianco with Prosecco, very refreshing. Hus op’n Diek is highly recommended – we’ll always be happy to come back!

I had a delicious fish meal here with my wife today. It looked rather unassuming from the outside, but inside: WOW! A very quaint restaurant. The food and service were first-class. The recommended lemon cake for dessert was a dream. I highly recommend it.

What can I say? Discovered by chance, curiosity won and was not disappointed. The redfish was buttery and soft, tasted freshly caught as advertised, and the homemade tartar sauce was super delicious. For dessert I had the apple almond biscuit and I was really expecting something that was like a biscuit, but what I was served was a poem. Flavor explosion. What a great birthday present for me, I didn't expect it. If you are in Cuxhaven on the way to Duhnen, definitely make a detour there. 20/10 points!! 🤩😋

We almost walked past it, inconspicuous from the outside. Mega tasty fish, tender, cooked to perfection. Vegetables, potato side dishes were great, remoulade/mayonnaise was probably homemade. Very friendly service, fair prices. Since one of us had to wait a bit for our food, we had a large glass of delicious red fruit jelly for dessert. Highly recommended!

Our lunch visit was a major letdown. Outside the restaurant there was great advertising for a plaice with boiled potatoes for €9.90. At 12 o'clock we asked personally how big the plaice was? Answer from an employee: “Normal size”. At 1 p.m. we went to the restaurant to eat plaice. The waitress said to us: "We don't have any plaice, they weren't delivered, but you can choose something from the menu" What is something like that? First you say the plaice are a normal size and then there are no plaice at all? Sorry, but something like that doesn't work at all. First lure the customers with attractive offers and then say you can choose something else from the menu :-( We definitely won't be coming back. We then ate delicious plaice in another restaurant ;-)

Very tasty every time, worth coming here

It was our first time there for the “Gamba’s Satt” meal and we were really impressed. We really enjoyed it :) The waiters were very friendly and attentive when we ordered something. First there was a small salad (we found the dressing very tasty). In addition to the Gamba's, which were always brought to the table fresh and hot, there were baguettes, potato wedges with dip and later garlic dip. We didn't get the bread at first, but we kindly gave it to us upon request... In total we got three "portions" of Gamba's, which was completely sufficient for us. Sure we could have had something a fourth time, but we were just full :) The Gamba's were well seasoned and simply very, very tasty :) We will definitely come back :)
