Eating fresh fish in the old fish halls right at the harbor in Cuxhaven - it couldn't be more authentic or better. Panfish with three types of freshly caught fish with a delicious remoulade and crispy fried potatoes...mmmhhh my mouth is still watering. The boss Kai is a real young man from Cuxhaven...likeable.

During the day you can also buy fresh fish, as well as fish sandwiches - these are also highly recommended. 12/2024: The temperature in the guest room was very low. It was anything but comfortable.

Delicious local seafood in diner atmosphere. We had local fish and portions were generous. Stop by the store, next door, to take home fresh local catch, smoked fish or canned delicacies.

By chance we were in Cuxhaven (well, whether that has to happen again?) and ended up here (it definitely has to happen again). The shop was incredibly full, you had to wait a long time. It was worth it. The staff did their best under stress and were always friendly. Great ambience. I didn't even know where to look first. The food was fantastic. If I happen to come here again, I will definitely come to the fish market. Absolutely recommended.

A rustic sailor's restaurant with lots of pictures, posters and ship models to look at, creating a truly maritime atmosphere. There were also very good fish dishes that we really enjoyed. During normal shop opening hours you can also get fish and various seafood salads in the adjoining fish shop. We would love to come back here!

2024: Two 10 days in Cuxhaven definitely means 1 fish sandwich every day. They don't have the best fish sandwiches here... here they have the VERY BEST!!! Quality in the restaurant remains consistently great and without any frills. However, the last time we visited in November it was very cold in the restaurant, which wasn't great. 2023: We have eaten here several times in the past 10 days. Every time we were very satisfied. Food was GREAT and FRESH. Changing the types of fish was possible without any problems, even at no extra charge. In the FISCHBÖRSE you can eat fish without any frills. The shop next door also has the best fish sandwiches, the best service and TOP ADVICE. We can recommend the fish exchange 100%. 2022 - 2000: Simply TOP!!!

The portions are manageable, fish was very fresh and tasty, staff didn't smile for guests, maybe poor pay, temporary staff are cheaper?!

Quaint restaurant/quick snack bar selling fresh fish. Here you can eat really good, quick, fresh fish cheaply. We ate the fish platter for 2 people and 1 crab soup. Both were good. Everyone can choose the side dish for the fish platter, the potato salad was very good, the fish (pollock?) was plentiful, fried with flour, but nothing special. However, I found the crab soup very tasty.

Recently eaten here: Fish Exchange Platter. There were 3 fish fillets, some of which were rubbery, dry, barely browned and relatively tasteless. Plus a piece of lemon. You don't have to have that!

Very tasty food. Portions are more than sufficient. Except for the children's meals, it is always 3 pieces of fish + a side dish and a dollop of salad. Perfectly fried and super tasty. We always enjoy coming here.

I ended up there by chance with a few friends. It wasn't a mistake to go in. Rustic atmosphere, friendly and quick service and the freshly prepared fish dishes were very tasty. I would eat here again in a heartbeat.

We were there at around 6 p.m., one service for the entire restaurant... well, we already waited 15 minutes for the menu. The food was now rather average, unfortunately the price/performance ratio wasn't really right. We paid €58 for two people without a starter. The service wasn't exactly friendly either and seemed rather annoyed and listless. The ambience is nice, but everything needs to be renewed (very yellowed). Also, unfortunately my beer glass was dirty🤷🏼‍♂️

For those who want to have the classic North Sea fishing experience, it doesn't get any better than this. The quality of the food is exorbitantly high and the ambience is simply on point. You sit directly in the room where the dishes are prepared. The clothing also takes on the pleasant scent of fried fish specialties, so you can even take it home with you as a souvenir. The prices are great, the staff works like a well-oiled machine. The shop was there when I was a child and it is still exactly the same. When I go on vacation to Cux, I go there first and only then have I arrived.

We were in Cuxhaven for the first time today and wanted to eat fish. I had the fried fish with fried potatoes and my wife had the herring in cream sauce. We go to the coast very often and always eat fish. What we got was pretty much the worst fried fish I've ever eaten. Yes, it was frozen but you can season it too. The fried potatoes didn't deserve the name, pale, wasn't an expression. Fried fish tastes better at every fair. The drinks came very late (we were already eating). Staff was frustrated and annoyed (I cleaned the table myself). Toilet doors couldn't be locked. All in all, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant.

The restaurant is quaint and has Nordic charm, the service is on point and helpful. The food also came very quickly. However, I'm not sure about the taste... The salad/dressing tasted very familiar and the hollandaise sauce was also very reminiscent of the ready-made sauce from the supermarket. Still tasty but questionable for the money...

The visit was a spontaneous stop after briefly skimming through the reviews. The waitress came quite early and brought the menu outside to our table without much enthusiasm. After ordering, we also received our drinks quite quickly. After we took the first sip, however, we noticed that both the glass of the soft drink and the wheat glass were incredibly dirty. We pointed this out to the waitress (another person who spoke very poor German) and asked for new drinks. We got these after about 10 minutes, but the glasses were still not as clean as you would expect. Due to some time pressure, we did not complain again. The food came relatively quickly (plaice and a schnitzel). The plaice and the side dishes were great, the schnitzel looked like frozen pressed cardboard. YES, it is a high quality fish restaurant, but I didn't expect such poor quality with the schnitzel. We also ordered mayo with the fries, which was forgotten at the first attempt and served without emotion. The food arrived at the next table shortly after us and the lady told the waiter that she hadn't ordered béchamel sauce with her fish but rather a mustard sauce. The lady had almost finished her fish when we left the restaurant - we will probably never know whether she still received her mustard sauce with the fish. Based on our experience, I unfortunately cannot understand the really good reviews. Unfortunately, the ambience and cleanliness of the inside cannot be rated as we were only outside.

World, hear my opinion! After a day of hard walking through the beautiful town of Cuxhaven, my feet were craving some rest and my stomach was craving some filling, and I decided to visit this local inn. It turned out to be a joy beyond compare! Not only did the staff treat the guests in a very loving and friendly manner, no - the food they ordered also turned out to be a splendid meal! The fine fish platter that I chose offered a wonderful cornucopia of variety of textures and flavors, and due to the exquisite presentation it was not only a feast for the palate but also a feast for the eyes! This stop was rounded off by the rustic-nautical ambience I preferred, which makes my heart beat faster! It should also be mentioned that from my place next to the door I had a view of many beautiful pictures of ships and elderly gentlemen and I noticed that the ones with pipes in their mouths were placed twice! I would like to give an additional star for this consistent decoration, but Google refuses to allow me to do so. Finally I would like to say very good, gladly again, 10/10.

The place was packed...Very, very tasty. Best so far in Cuxhaven / surrounding area. Nothing needs to be renovated here... I think it's great that way.

We were here for the first time. Actually rather coincidental. It's really nicely laid out inside. Rustic but attractive. I found it really nice. The service took some getting used to. The young man tried very hard, but the older woman didn't bat an eyelid, which didn't come across as particularly nice. The fish was really delicious. However, it was served without anything, a bit carelessly, on the plate. Taste was good, so we didn't care. But I found the fried potatoes too pale and not really fried. It might just be my opinion because I prefer them crispier. Overall, still a good impression.

I've been eating in this restaurant for around 10 years, initially several times a week. The fish still tastes very good. However, the staff has clearly lost some of their friendliness compared to before. It's a shame, because eating is not just what's on the plate but also the trimmings.

We ate at the fish market several times and would always come back there. The very rustic and, in my opinion, a little outdated restaurant with the adjacent fish exchange - a direct fish sales outlet - is certainly one of the top addresses in Cuxhaven when it comes to quality. Located in the middle of the seaport between Kudder and the wholesale market, the restaurant offers an indoor area with a direct view of the kitchen, outdoor lighting facing the harbor basin, which is not always open, and around 8 - 10 tables in the direct entrance area on the street. We found the decoration inside a bit lavish, which threatens to overwhelm you alongside lifebuoys, numerous ship buildings, pictures of sailors from the last century and the typical North German knotting school. Not all of the decorations have been viewed yet, and the food is already on the table. And that is truly something to behold! Here you get fish in a wafer-thin, crispy penade instead of a dough shell filled with a little fish. There was, as it should be, a portion of good fried potatoes like mother's. From our point of view, the fish market is a kind of insider tip, especially since there are places that are better advertised and have more stars on Google. We actually tried it out and were blinded by reviews - well, this is just one. But if I'm served fried potatoes that are swimming in oil and the fish isn't cooked through, even the best reviews are of no use to me. Here in the fish exchange the fish practically jumps from the cutter into the pan and from the pan directly onto the plate. Anyone who can forego external appearances - i.e. the lack of chic-and-micki demeanor that is typical of a 5-star Michellin restaurant - and instead places more value on fresh and really good fish should get their money's worth here at the fish exchange. It should also be mentioned that you can buy all kinds of fresh fish specialties right next door in the shop, from delicious fried roll mops to herring stew, so that nothing stands in the way of your culinary delights within your own four walls. We give it a full 5 stars for the Fish Exchange's excellent cuisine and the always friendly service. But just take a look for yourself... Oh, one more thing - KI recommends the fish platter for 2 people with "Attention!" Potatoes... But we prefer the delicious fried potatoes!

Food was great, atmosphere, you just sit outside on the street. But you can buy smoked meats, fresh crabs and fresh fish. Everything okay.
