Our food was worse than bad. Only one waitress understood German. Wait 30 minutes for a coke. There wasn't even a bit of fish in the starter. But the store looks good and Cola tasted like Cola.

As always, more than well eaten, today the fish market platter for 2 and once cod (soooo delicious) 😋

Unfortunately I cannot agree with the good reviews (which were the reason for our visit). To eat: The fish itself was good, no question. But the fried potatoes were partially burnt, a note for people who don't eat pork/meat that the side dish "fried potatoes" also contains meat, I think. (to be fair, I'm not sure if it was mentioned on the menu among the supplements). Serving a light fish like plaice with peppers and zucchini as a vegetable side dish, which has a strong taste, was something I personally didn't like at all. It's a shame, the fish was so bad. By "butter sauce" I actually imagined a special sauce instead of just melted butter in a bowl. Overall, the dish was too greasy for me and there was probably little thought given to the individual components of the dish. Given the price, I would have expected something more than "grandmother's kitchen". A piece of lemon would have been nice too, as a little acid wouldn't have harmed the dish, but that's just my taste. Service: The staff was clearly stressed because there seemed to be too many guests for too little service. Can happen. No go are complaining waitresses who loudly complain about colleagues and also shout at guests (us) when we enter the restaurant to ask whether there is still room and whether there is still warm food. We had quite a long wait and were almost ready to leave. I think that putting 2 almost empty ketchup bottles in a restaurant, where it's already obvious that we're going to ask for a third bottle, and generally charging 50 cents each for ketchup and/or mayo with the fries, is somehow a bit too much for meals over €20... inappropriate. The play area for the little ones was great! We won't eat there again, but the fish sale is great and deserves all the stars.

We've been coming to the Cuxhaven fish exchange for years when we're on vacation. The food is delicious, portions are sufficient, price-performance ratio is ok. The service is ok. Points deducted for the not particularly clean toilets and the not clean tables outside. There should be improvements there. Update August 2024: unfortunately the quality has decreased, the salmon fillet is far too dry and overcooked. This shouldn't happen in a fish restaurant. Unfortunately, there was no response at all to the constructive criticism. The cleanliness still leaves something to be desired. The menus are sticky and worn inside and out. The tables are not wiped down after people change. Something should be done here urgently. After previous good experiences, we have to adjust our rating downwards. Unfortunately it's more mass than class. Unfortunately it no longer has anything to do with a good fish restaurant. Very unfortunate. The outdoor floorboards should also be urgently repaired. There are some large holes in there that I broke into with the chair.

We will always eat fish there again when we are in Cuxhaven, thank you very much

We have been a customer for 30 years. A holiday in Cuxhaven without the fish we bought there is not a successful holiday.

Rarely have redfish fillets been eaten so well with delicious fried potatoes. Very fair price-performance ratio. Big portion. Seating available inside and outside. Parking spaces also available around it.

Very friendly and also delicious 😋. It's a shame that the fried fish is not fresh, but frozen. Therefore deducting a star. Unfortunately the water dripped out of the breading. Preferably a little more expensive and freshly prepared, such as: at Kokken in Spieka Neufeld 😉

I love this fish restaurant in the harbor district of Cuxhaven 😍 Here I have a lot of fresh fish on my plate for a really fair price 👍 Went there again today, a rustic place, maybe a little over-decorated for modern tastes, but I like it. Price/performance is simply more important to me in these times!!! You can park for free in the parking lot opposite the restaurant for your visit to the restaurant, otherwise a parking ticket is required almost everywhere - now from 00:00 a.m. to midnight. At the front you can also eat outside on the street on a plateau, .....During the day there is also a fresh fish sale here and you can eat super delicious fish sandwiches. I can only recommend it 👍.... we always like to come back 😃

This is about perfect fish. everything else falls behind. The fried potatoes were probably purchased. The boiled potatoes with hollandaise sauce, on the other hand, were decent. The service was quick and friendly. We noticed the fish exchange shop negatively. The staff very unmotivated. The cup of a fish salad was not closed properly, so the contents leaked. Unfortunately we noticed this too late. Why aren't the cups wrapped in paper again? How was it once common and good? A pity.

This was the best food in Cuxhaven. We ordered cutter plaice and a platter of game fish. Both dishes great. The cutter plaice was the best of all I have seen in the last 4 days.

I ate the “Fish Exchange Plate”. Simply super delicious. If fish is prepared correctly, and they do it really well there. There is a fish shop right next door that has super fresh produce and can only be recommended. We'd love to come back.

Crab soup without crabs? Arctic shrimp, which can also be found on other fish plates, are not a substitute. You weren't informed about it either, as you realize while eating. Hollandaise sauce lumpy, poorly reheated, almost cold. Boiled potatoes very watery and overcooked. The fish was ok, but we have much better restaurants in Cuxhaven.

Super tasty herring roll, very fresh and extremely tender. I had an eel smoke herring roll, which had plenty of toppings. Good quality and cheap for only €4.

Incredibly delicious fish platter

We went based on a recommendation and because of the fresh fish we didn't regret it. We sat outside and it was very loud due to the car traffic. The service is rustic and, as they say, North German cool, but friendly. The fish platter was excellent and worth every cent.

Were there late lunchtime, cozy little fish restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and quickly given the menu and able to order. Waiting time for our food was normal. The fish platter we ordered for two people was plentiful and very tasty. The attentive service rounded off our visit. We will definitely stop there again when we are in Cuxhaven.

The plaice fillets tasted good. There were three of them. There was nothing to complain about.

The fish sale is recommended - good quality and selection. We also ate in the restaurant. Unfortunately it didn't convince us. We had the fish platter for 2 people. The price was on par with many other restaurants in the area. The fish was OK, but the salmon was unfortunately too dry. The fried potatoes could have come out of the pan earlier. But the whole thing was just slapped carelessly onto a plate. I wouldn't even make it like this for myself at home. The ambience and service can be described in the same way: quite ok, but everything is somehow loveless. We actually wouldn't eat here again, but would opt for one of the many other fish restaurants.

Fish purchasing, nice sales staff, but once within a month we had pollock that we had to throw away straight away and this time it wasn't really fresh anymore. So pollack is done for us. I always buy redfish, cod or hake, which is always okay.

It took a relatively long time until the rectangular fish came out of the deep fryer and the fried fish roll was ready. Nothing special! There were some chairs and tables outside to sit down to eat. Unfortunately, the sand blown up by the wind from the unpaved parking lot across the street is distributed exactly on the guests.

If you like fish, you should stop by here. But the currywurst is also great.

So the business has to be classified as iconic or original otherwise it would just remain old and unfashionable. Everything is full or hanging full of things that you would think were originals from seafaring ships. The food is good, the price is right too.
