We ate a very tasty fried fish sandwich and an equally delicious fish meatball; we would come back anytime.

I don't even know how many years I've been coming here, but it's definitely over 25. The ambiance is simply German, with everything from seafaring souvenirs. The food is prepared quickly, with various types of fish, all fresh. For non-fish fans, there are schnitzels and other dishes, especially for children. I had the fish exchange plate, three types of fillet with fried potatoes. The latter was a bit greasy, but definitely very tasty.

The fried fish was inedible, thrown away after one bite. Pure fat – just squirting out, the rolls weren't baked well, the salad wasn't crispy. The whole place wasn't clean, everything was being touched. No gloves or handwashing. Not my kind of place.

I drive there especially to eat my beloved, authentic Schillerlocke. Great fish sandwich, freshly made and topped to order. A must-try when in Cuxhaven. The ambiance is hard to judge, of course; it's just a fish shop.

The fish dishes here are delicious. We had North Sea plaice twice, and I also had crab. The fish was very well cooked, and the crab was also very tasty. The fried potatoes were nothing special, but they were tasty. One point deducted overall is that the kitchen is very open, and you and your clothes smell like you fried the fish yourself. I always find that very unpleasant.

Fish at the harbor is always good and the atmosphere is great, but the food on my last visit was not as tasty as I remembered.

We ate here for the second time in two years. Back then, it only had 3 stars, but now it's only 1 star at most, and we'll never come back! We sat in the back of the restaurant, overlooking the partially open kitchen. At least 20 plates of prepared, miniature salads, probably from a jar, with a slice of lemon, were stacked on top of each other on the kitchen counter. I have no idea how long they had been there. No matter the temperature or the flies, no one seems to care. One meal was the "fine fish platter" with boiled potatoes, correspondingly expensive. The portion was sufficient, the fish was very oily, the potatoes were barely edible, hard in places, and somewhat old. Remoulade with the fish had to be ordered and paid for separately. The chef and the waitress seemed very listless. Not a smile or a friendly word. The table was sticky, and the glasses didn't seem clean or clear, as you'd expect. Paying over €50 for something like that (two dishes, the other being fries with cod) and everything carelessly served on the plate, never again. There won't be a third time and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Here you can eat as much fish as you like. It doesn't get any fresher!

A quaint restaurant with an open kitchen. The fish and fried potatoes were very well cooked, and the staff were very friendly.

We ate fish sandwiches here twice in a row, even though we were on vacation a good half hour away. The sandwiches are freshly prepared. Nothing has been sitting in the display for hours. The service was very friendly. You can also sit outside in front of the restaurant to eat your sandwich without taking a seat from other diners. It's certainly more difficult in bad weather. You can also pay with an EC card. Parking is free on one side of the street, and the other side requires a parking ticket (be careful!). There's also a free gravel parking lot across the street for the duration of your stay. The prices for both sandwiches and drinks were reasonable, and if you'd like, you can also pick up fish, fish specialties, and various sauces to take home. We'd be happy to come back if we're ever in the area again.

Hello everyone. We were in the self-service area of the fish market. We bought a fried fish, which was freshly prepared and very good. Of course, there's even more to choose from. The staff at the counter were friendly and quick.

The food is delicious and reasonably priced. We enjoy coming here every year. Update 2025: This year was probably our last visit. Too many convenience foods (the menu says frozen fried fish, and the waitress says fried potatoes come from a bag and therefore can't be made without bacon). And unfortunately, side dishes like fries have gotten much smaller. It's a shame, we always enjoyed going there.

"Fish without remoulade – only for an extra charge?" We visited the Cuxhaven Fish Market, and the food was generally okay – solid for a fish sandwich or fish fry stand, as you'd expect. However, there was one thing that was truly surprising: almost all dishes didn't come with remoulade – it has to be ordered and paid for separately. For many guests, remoulade is simply a given with a fish dish. The extra charge feels like a hidden price increase. It's not about the few cents a small portion costs, but rather the feeling as a guest that they're cutting corners. It's a shame, because such little things often determine whether you return or choose a different stand next time.

I had a fish plate with three fish fillets and fried potatoes. The fish was absolutely dry, and the fried potatoes tasted like old, sticky potatoes. The side salad was some kind of pickled food from a jar.

Everything is just right here! The ambiance inside and out: North Sea fishing. Fresh fish skillfully served. A master in the frying pan: cooked to perfection. Service very friendly and very fast. And all at reasonable prices. What was a bit annoying: two older gentlemen who ordered a currywurst with fries here of all places and complained that the restaurant smelled faintly (!) of fish.

Hierbei handelt es sich um einen Fischladen mit angeschlossenem Imbiss. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist sehr gut. Die Fischplatte für 2 Personen war sehr frisch. Okay, ein paar Krümel Salz mussten noch drauf, aber besser so als anders herum. Wer schickes Ambiente sucht und Wert legt auf Servicepersonal wie in einem 5-Sterne-Hotel, der sollte hier nicht hingehen. Wir waren für ein leckeres Mittagessen sehr zufrieden.

Super gebratener super frischer Fisch mit Bratkartoffeln, Kartoffelsalat oder Pommes zu sehr fairen Preisen. Es gibt auch einen sehr gut bestückten Verkauf von Frisch- und Räucherfisch. Schönes Hafen-Ambiente.

It was shocking how long we had to wait for service, despite repeated requests. My request for a seat cushion for my severely disabled wife was ignored. The cod was unacceptable and tasteless, the fried potatoes cold, and everything carelessly thrown onto the plate – for a total of €50. Never again. Recommendation: avoid.

Family-run, quaint, and, in our opinion, the best fish restaurant in Cuxhaven. We were here several years ago. Nothing has changed. Delicious, large, affordable portions. The decor is so nautical. Awesome. 👍🏼

Ich war in dem Restaurant vor vielen Jahren Essen und bin heute mit guten Erinnerungen dort eingekehrt.a aber die baldige Schließung wegen Umbau des Hafens ließ alle guten Sitten des Betreibers über Bord gehen. Den Labskaus kann man essen. Etwas zu salzig und das Ei war zu fettig. Kartoffeln passen ja eigentlich ganz gut dazu, dann weniger Labskaus. Backfisch aus der Truhe geht für mich überhaupt nicht. Abzug Nummer eins. Die Portion mit zwei Filets ist am Ende so groß, dass man auch ein Filet frisch zubereiten könnte. Zwei Nebentische waren auch mit Essen unzufrieden. Die Toiletten waren total verschmutzt. Eine Tür für die Damentoilette ging nicht zu verriegeln. Wegen der Schließung wird laut Bedienung Nichts mehr investiert. Die Außenterrasse ist teilweise baufällig. Die Speisekarten sind mehr als lieblos. Alles im allem werde ich hier nie wieder essen und werde das Lokal nicht weiterempfehlen und sogar abraten dort zu essen. Wer seine Gäste nicht ehrt ist den Euro nicht wert.

I ate at the restaurant many years ago and returned today with fond memories. However, the imminent closure due to renovations at the harbor has thrown all the owner's good manners out the window. Four stars for the Labskaus I had. The rest of the deductions follow. Fried fish from the freezer is completely unacceptable for me. Deduction number one. The portion with two fillets ends up being so large that one could have just been freshly prepared. Points deducted for that. Two neighboring tables were also dissatisfied with their food. The restrooms were completely filthy. A door to the women's restroom wouldn't lock. According to the staff, no further investment will be made because of the closure. Star deducted. The outdoor terrace is partially dilapidated. Third deduction. The menus are beyond lackluster. All in all, I will never eat here again and will not recommend the restaurant to anyone, and even advise against eating there. Anyone who doesn't respect their guests isn't worth the money.

The fish is served carelessly with a dollop of cheap store-bought side salad; you won't find any tartar sauce because you have to order it separately. The staff knows you'll only see each other once, and they treat you accordingly. The countless good reviews are completely incomprehensible, probably driven by social media again. I recommend a good, traditional fish restaurant to avoid disappointment.

The €6 fried fish sandwich was a disgrace. A cheap sandwich, no salt on the fish, and the breading too thick and firm around a very thin fish fillet. At first, I thought it was a deep-fried cutting board.

This was our second time there, and unfortunately, I have to say we were both disappointed. The fish was tasty, but nothing special, and it was slapped onto the plate very carelessly. We waited almost an hour for our ordered haddock, which was then brought to us by a rather listless waitress. The table was greasy and sticky, and the restaurant smelled strongly of fish because it was fried in the middle. We won't be visiting this restaurant again.
