Unfortunately, the food was rather poor. The pesto with the spaghetti wasn't homemade, and you practically had to search for the tomatoes... definitely not what it used to be.

It felt like a rushed service and wasn't worth the money anymore. A small herring roll with a small fillet for €4.30 isn't what Gosch used to be. Too bad :(

Good food at Gosch is a thing of the past. Fish fillets that don't deserve the name. Prices are exorbitant. Go to Metscher's in Cuxhaven; similar prices, but the quality and food are excellent.

It's just not the same as Gosch in List on Sylt. Everything's gotten so expensive. And the fish sandwiches are all made without any care. You can forget about them all. Scharbeutz, Timmendorf, Hamburg, or Duhnen. Just forget it.

It was perfect for us: delicious beer, tasty food, and great staff. It's self-service, which is a little unusual, but it didn't detract from the overall experience.

We ate at Gosch again after several years. The prices have risen enormously, and the quality has declined slightly. What I find disappointing is that I'm pressured to leave a tip when paying by card. I'm happy to tip if everything is good and the service is excellent.

The chef!? took the plate and tried it himself 😅 Afterward, I got my money back with the comment: next time, let me know immediately and not 30 minutes later!! But we had only been there for 20 minutes, including ordering, etc. 😅 SUPER unprofessional of the nice person, really rude 😑😆 The prices are exorbitant for what you get!

Unfortunately, we've noticed that the quality has declined considerably. Whereas a while ago, you could get a proper fried fish, now it's just a molded fish. And at such an exorbitant price.

First, the good: beautifully located on the promenade, and the friendly staff behind the counter. Unfortunately, you only realize it's self-service in the restaurant. The food is mediocre, sparse, and overpriced; the fried potatoes should have been fried, as the name suggests. All in all, not satisfactory for the price.

Unfortunately, it was basic cafeteria food. And it was cold, too. The sauerkraut was completely cold, the pike-perch was barely warm, the mashed potatoes were completely unseasoned and also cold, and all the waiters were rather unfriendly, like they were at a real fast-food restaurant. Won't be back. The only thing that's top-notch is the location.

I thought it was too expensive for self-service. When we asked for cutlery because we couldn't find it, we were told, "You can see it."

I ate a fish sandwich here. Absolutely not recommended. The sandwich was hard and dry. More onions than anything else. Just slapped together with a bit of herring, and that was it. €4.20. You can do much better.

If you're familiar with Gosch, the food here was disappointing. The mussels in white wine were very bland, lacking spices, or rather, white wine (they were a delight last week in Warnemünde). The fried fish wasn't as crispy as we're used to, and the fries that came with it were almost impossible to count. When clearing up, they asked me if everything was messy? Why, actually? I said, "Disappointing," but there was no further reaction. I thought, as a chain, Gosch had a high quality standard, but that's apparently not the case.

We're real Gosch fans, but this one falls a bit short. The food seems carelessly thrown together, and that's something you have to get right with Thai noodles. We were very disappointed the first time and are looking forward to SPO.

We were there late at lunchtime. You have to be aware that this is a self-service restaurant. What bothers me, however, is that I have to order food at one counter and drinks at another, and both have to be paid for separately. There are plenty of tables, both inside and outside, or under a roof. The furnishings are simple but functional (wooden chairs). The food (although self-service) is standard priced. We had the wolffish (grilled: never, it was sitting in oil on the plate, unfortunately forgot to take a photo) with fried potatoes and a side salad. The chef must have had other things to do with the fried potatoes: they were hot, but only one side was properly cooked, and they were cooked for too long. There were no onions (?) and the bacon cubes weren't crispy. The fried potatoes were also sitting in oil. The taste was okay, but it didn't meet my expectations.

I liked Gosch in Grömitz better. I always eat shrimp with bread there. I think it's great, but I can't comment on anything else. Inside, it's very, very cramped in front of the counter. The tables there are a disgrace. Service is always very fast.

GOSCH in Duhnen = Fish McDonald's. Very unfriendly staff. Food wasn't good. The concept resembles a highway rest stop. Quantity over quality; only the reputation from bygone days still brings the Gosch family good sales. Better to have fish sticks at home.

I was served cold fish, which didn't taste good at all, or did they want me to get salmonella poisoning? Only the fried potatoes were warm. Never again.

We ordered 2 fish and chips this afternoon at around 1.30pm. They were 5 mini pieces of breaded fish for €19.80. The chips weren't ready. We won't be going to Gosch Houses again.

Don't eat there!! We were there yesterday for the first and last time. My wife and I had a platter of gourmet fish for a whopping €26 each. The only thing that was good was the price. The fish was completely oily and had no flavor. The fried potatoes were far from crispy and were also swimming in oil. One of our children had pasta with broccoli. There were 1.5 broccoli florets on the entire plate. This dish also had no flavor. Our second daughter had currywurst with fries. The curry sauce was an industrial sauce from a bucket, and the dish cost €12.90. We were aware of the self-service menu. But the worst part was that they asked for a tip on every card reader. We're not in the US yet.

Top experience at Gosch in Cuxhaven – highly recommended! I absolutely don't understand many of the negative reviews here. My visit to Gosch in Cuxhaven was consistently positive – from the warm welcome to the last bite. The staff is truly first-class: friendly, attentive, and always relaxed – even when the crowds are busy. You immediately notice that these are professionals who enjoy their job and want to offer their guests a good experience. The portions were generous and freshly prepared, just as you would expect from Gosch. The prices are absolutely reasonable and in line with what you'd pay at other Gosch locations – and more than fair for the quality and location. In short: great atmosphere, great food, fantastic service. For me, Gosch in Cuxhaven is an integral part of every stay on the North Sea – and that's not changing anytime soon!

Absolutely not recommended! The food is completely overpriced. Self-service! Unfortunately, it's not advertised anywhere. Fried fish (a slightly larger fish stick) with a baked potato. The potato was completely old and kept warm forever, musty. Drinks were good, but you couldn't go wrong.

The food was absolutely outstanding. Fine fish soup, oysters, scallops with king prawns - really great. The “surroundings” take some getting used to. Rustic seating and tables, self-service with pager, when the food is ready, then pick it up and distribute it yourself... It has something of a classy canteen...

Beautiful location right on the Duhnen Promenade 😍 The food was delicious but not too cheap. The drinks were good, and you can relax in the beach chair.

On July 10, 2025, we ate the Pannfisch (pan-fried fish) and the Edelfisch (gourmet fish plate). The entire fish had absolutely no flavor and was incredibly greasy. It was sitting in the fat/oil on the plate. You can get better and cheaper food at any fish restaurant in the harbor.

These Bismarck rolls are delicious. I'll be back for more. My favorite.

Sorry, but this is the worst place I've ever eaten at. We only had a fried fish sandwich and fries. It was dry and barely any tartar sauce. And the prices were outrageous.

Pure disappointment – ​​far below the usual Gosch standards I was really looking forward to a delicious smoked salmon roll at Gosch in Duhnen – after all, one usually associates Gosch with freshness, quality, and taste. Unfortunately, I was completely disappointed. The roll was sticky and dry, almost stale – crispy on the outside, but simply tough and bland on the inside. The smoked salmon itself was okay, but placed carelessly between the roll halves. What was absolutely missing: any side dishes or flavorful additions. Not a hint of horseradish, no sauce, no onions, not a single lettuce leaf – nothing you'd expect from a well-filled fish roll. The bottom line is that the whole thing was completely uninspired and a disappointment in terms of taste. Definitely not justified for the price. A real shame, because with a name like Gosch, you expect more – especially in such a popular resort like Duhnen. Conclusion: Sadly disappointing. Hopefully this was just a slip-up – but for me it’s a reason to go somewhere else next time.

Well that was a disaster. Self-service with extremely high prices of well over €25. The plates were presented with absolutely no love. I've never had a baked potato just like that on my plate, without anything else on it. Any housewife could do a better job of presenting it. At the end, when the woman was clearing away, we asked if we'd enjoyed the food. We told her how tasteless the food was. She just laughed. Never again at Gosch.

The location is ideally located, clean, and there are enough staff, although they only clear the tables, which is something we're not used to. Our food, two large fish plates, wasn't tasty, unfortunately, something we're not used to from Gosch.

Hope dies last... Another failed attempt to eat delicious Thai noodles! The noodles were once again far too hard and lacked salt. The sauce and crab meat were less than ever. And then the guest is supposed to pay €19.90 for that... NO!

Self-service, yes. That's just plain English, so I don't understand the comments about it. But: top-notch service! Very attentive, hard-working, and courteous. Waiter Felix was excellent. Delicious food, great location. A bit crowded; you have to push through queues of other guests. A bit difficult with full plates.

The food was bland and not very seasoned (the mustard sauce tasted like roux). The "Asian sauce" was a run-of-the-mill sweet and sour dish. Service was rather lacking as it was completely self-service. Portions were very small, and prices were a bit more expensive than neighboring restaurants. The place is busy, though, so people seem to like it. I'd say it's a tourist trap. People with small stomachs who are worried they won't like the food will be happy.

A truly great GOSCH – extremely friendly team, pleasant atmosphere and exactly what you love about GOSCH: delicious fish, good wines, uncomplicated ambience – a bit of a Sylt feeling.

It's too annoying that we even have to award points. Absolutely not recommended, it has a snack bar feel. You have to order the outrageously expensive food yourself and pick it up from unfriendly staff, and then it's not even worth it. The herring roll only had a few slices of onion on it, nothing more. The roll was probably an overcooked roll from the oven. Any galley can do better than that. The fish soup was a vegetable broth with a bit of fish added. Simply outrageous and annoying. This is just a place to act fancy and show how great you are. Thumbs down.

Sorry, anyone who advertises themselves as the brand of the century should be aware of their responsibility. The staff seemed unmotivated to me; only the employee who could probably be called the 'boss' seemed motivated. It certainly looked that way... (his gait and facial expressions spoke for themselves). And the automatic request for tips is outrageous (before eating, mind you). That's what you call brazen. The self-pickup dishes do not reflect the prices in any way. The prices next door were almost identical, but with friendlier service and considerably more flavor. I do not recommend this place. And please, no comments full of exclamation marks.

Not recommended. Perhaps a better snack bar could have been found, but it's completely overpriced, and the quality leaves much to be desired. Fried potatoes, for example, only skimmed the pan, with no trace of browning. Not much fish, lots of side dishes. The Thai noodles are just noodles with sauce; you have to hunt for shrimp, and what's the point of the bread? It used to be better and cheaper.

When I go to Gosch, I expect more friendliness from McDonald's. Sure, good service is rare, but then they lower the prices accordingly. It's possible in Bremerhaven, too. Plus, there's a feel-good atmosphere.

I love eating at Gosch. But preferably on Sylt. Here in Duhnen I look at the dike and not at the North Sea.

Gosch Sylt is and remains Gosch. A small disadvantage, the water view is not there, but tool for a little break.

A great Gosch restaurant on the coast in Cuxhaven/Duhnen in Lower Saxony. The location is, as is typical for Fosch, 1A directly on the promenade behind the dike, which unfortunately limits the view very much. The service was friendly and courteous, as you are used to from Gosch. The food was of the expected quality and the prices accordingly. I'd love to come back next time...

Well we were in the Cuxhafen in Gosch. Not because it was the Gosch (don't know what the store is) but because I was thirsty. So the prices for drinks are okay, but for the food they are simply cheesy. If you consider that everything is still self-service. Well, after about 10 minutes I ordered and paid for 2 drinks at the counter. There was no tip from me for that. Because why do I order the drinks after waiting in line and have to take them away myself grrrrr. Eating the same way. Only the bar with the drinks looked good but the food served like the worst Asian snack bar. Thick boards on the ceiling with the menu and the smell from the place. So as Gosch said, what is that supposed to be? I have no idea but I don't need that kind of nonsense.

I ate the Gosch fish grill plate twice. Both times the fried potatoes were white and had nothing to do with fried potatoes. In response to my comment at the second meal to please fry the fried potatoes until crispy, I got light boiled potatoes again. The fish fillets were okay. There was still a small salad bouquet missing, at least that's what I know from other Gosch restaurants.

The simplest food at a chip shop level at high prices... the scampi on the fitness salad were good and sufficient, but the salad was loveless, just sauce on it, even the herb baguette tasted better from the supermarket... I don't know what's special about Gosch today, it used to be like that on Sylt...

What could be nicer than taking a culinary stop after a long walk through Duhnen? For me, the visit to GOSCH at Duhner Strandstraße 2 was exactly that: a little highlight right in the lively heart of the coastal town. As you approach, the familiar scent of fresh fish and spices beckons - and somehow you immediately feel like you've arrived. I was there with my family – and as is often the case at GOSCH, there was great anticipation. The atmosphere is North German-casual, friendly and at the same time well organized. The outdoor area invites you to linger, even if you don't see or hear anything from the sea - but you get the typical hustle and bustle of Duhnen: families with ice cream, dogs with sand on their snouts, constant comings and goings - wonderfully lively. In terms of cuisine, what you would expect from GOSCH is delivered here - fresh, high-quality fish. I chose the fried salmon with fried potatoes. The fish was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with a good portion of golden brown potatoes and a pleasantly spicy tartar sauce - to be honest: exactly my taste. The prawns in garlic oil that my companion ordered were also a poem - delicately seasoned and served nice and hot. Despite the crowds, everything went smoothly. The staff was friendly, quick and had the North German sense of humor – that mix of “direct but warm” that you just have to like. Even with a high number of guests, the store remained clean and the processes worked - praise to the entire team. I particularly liked the relaxed atmosphere. Although GOSCH is not a “restaurant” in the classic sense, you feel welcome and in good hands. You can tell that professionals are at work here – both at the counter and in the kitchen. My conclusion: If you're in Duhnen and love fish, you can't ignore GOSCH. It is not a place for romantic peace and quiet with the sound of the sea - but a real hotspot for honest, fresh food and that special North Sea energy that you simply have to experience to be believed. I'll definitely be back - next time I'm strolling through Cuxhaven's most charming district.

The food was excellent. Thai pasta with shrimps. Price-performance is also very good. However, I don't like the restaurant concept: self-service, i.e. ordering and picking up food at the counter, notification via pager. And a counter for ordering and picking up drinks. That means queuing twice, paying twice and running again to get the food. On a day like yesterday (May 1st), queues of people form at the counter. This means standing in line twice and hoping that the pager doesn't answer already.

Were very disappointed with the restaurant, you have to order everything yourself at the counter and pick it up from there. 2 separate areas, one for food and one for drinks... You pay for everything right at the beginning and are asked for a tip straight from the card payment without even having the food... unfortunately there were Massich Greten in the fish and the staff wasn't that friendly either... We made faces behind the counter and weren't in a good mood. You sit very close to each other and, as I said, you always have to get everything yourself.

I think the prices are a bit too high considering that you pick up the food yourself and the service is “only” responsible for clearing it away. The food tastes good, but not so good that you definitely want to come back.

Getting worse week by week. There is hardly any sauce left in the Thai noodles with shrimp, which today (April 22nd) was very tasteless. The fried potatoes for the redfish fillet were quartered boiled potatoes that hadn't even come close to being in the pan. No further visits for the time being, but word will quickly get around among the "local" population.!!
