GOSCH Cuxhaven in Cuxhaven

I ate the Gosch fish grill plate twice. Both times the fried potatoes were white and had nothing to do with fried potatoes. In response to my comment at the second meal to please fry the fried potatoes until crispy, I got light boiled potatoes again. The fish fillets were okay. There was still a small salad bouquet missing, at least that's what I know from other Gosch restaurants.

Well we were in the Cuxhafen in Gosch. Not because it was the Gosch (don't know what the store is) but because I was thirsty. So the prices for drinks are okay, but for the food they are simply cheesy. If you consider that everything is still self-service. Well, after about 10 minutes I ordered and paid for 2 drinks at the counter. There was no tip from me for that. Because why do I order the drinks after waiting in line and have to take them away myself grrrrr. Eating the same way. Only the bar with the drinks looked good but the food served like the worst Asian snack bar. Thick boards on the ceiling with the menu and the smell from the place. So as Gosch said, what is that supposed to be? I have no idea but I don't need that kind of nonsense.

The simplest food at a chip shop level at high prices... the scampi on the fitness salad were good and sufficient, but the salad was loveless, just sauce on it, even the herb baguette tasted better from the supermarket... I don't know what's special about Gosch today, it used to be like that on Sylt...

What could be nicer than taking a culinary stop after a long walk through Duhnen? For me, the visit to GOSCH at Duhner Strandstraße 2 was exactly that: a little highlight right in the lively heart of the coastal town. As you approach, the familiar scent of fresh fish and spices beckons - and somehow you immediately feel like you've arrived. I was there with my family – and as is often the case at GOSCH, there was great anticipation. The atmosphere is North German-casual, friendly and at the same time well organized. The outdoor area invites you to linger, even if you don't see or hear anything from the sea - but you get the typical hustle and bustle of Duhnen: families with ice cream, dogs with sand on their snouts, constant comings and goings - wonderfully lively. In terms of cuisine, what you would expect from GOSCH is delivered here - fresh, high-quality fish. I chose the fried salmon with fried potatoes. The fish was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with a good portion of golden brown potatoes and a pleasantly spicy tartar sauce - to be honest: exactly my taste. The prawns in garlic oil that my companion ordered were also a poem - delicately seasoned and served nice and hot. Despite the crowds, everything went smoothly. The staff was friendly, quick and had the North German sense of humor – that mix of “direct but warm” that you just have to like. Even with a high number of guests, the store remained clean and the processes worked - praise to the entire team. I particularly liked the relaxed atmosphere. Although GOSCH is not a “restaurant” in the classic sense, you feel welcome and in good hands. You can tell that professionals are at work here – both at the counter and in the kitchen. My conclusion: If you're in Duhnen and love fish, you can't ignore GOSCH. It is not a place for romantic peace and quiet with the sound of the sea - but a real hotspot for honest, fresh food and that special North Sea energy that you simply have to experience to be believed. I'll definitely be back - next time I'm strolling through Cuxhaven's most charming district.

Were very disappointed with the restaurant, you have to order everything yourself at the counter and pick it up from there. 2 separate areas, one for food and one for drinks... You pay for everything right at the beginning and are asked for a tip straight from the card payment without even having the food... unfortunately there were Massich Greten in the fish and the staff wasn't that friendly either... We made faces behind the counter and weren't in a good mood. You sit very close to each other and, as I said, you always have to get everything yourself.

The food was excellent. Thai pasta with shrimps. Price-performance is also very good. However, I don't like the restaurant concept: self-service, i.e. ordering and picking up food at the counter, notification via pager. And a counter for ordering and picking up drinks. That means queuing twice, paying twice and running again to get the food. On a day like yesterday (May 1st), queues of people form at the counter. This means standing in line twice and hoping that the pager doesn't answer already.

Good location and just good! Plus reasonable prices. No more kitchen from 8:45 p.m.!

I think the prices are a bit too high considering that you pick up the food yourself and the service is “only” responsible for clearing it away. The food tastes good, but not so good that you definitely want to come back.

Completely overpriced for, in my opinion, mediocre food. I certainly pay half the price for the GOSCH name.

Getting worse week by week. There is hardly any sauce left in the Thai noodles with shrimp, which today (April 22nd) was very tasteless. The fried potatoes for the redfish fillet were quartered boiled potatoes that hadn't even come close to being in the pan. No further visits for the time being, but word will quickly get around among the "local" population.!!

We bought fish sandwiches with smoked salmon. A slice of salmon and a huge slice of a vegetable onion. Sorry, I'll never have to have it again.

The food was okay, but the "side salad" doesn't deserve the name, it was more of a salad garnish. For self-service, where there isn't even a tray and you have to open doors with the food/drinks in your hand to get to the seat, the price-performance ratio is unfortunately not right at all!

Great spot to feast and linger! Food was always fantastic. Cozy atmosphere with a beautiful outdoor area directly on Duhner Beach. Self-service, service still very attentive and friendly.

Crab rolls where the crabs are placed individually on the roll for 12.50?????? Can it get any bolder than that??

The crab soup was quite tasty, hence the stars! The wolffish fillets were barely cooked through. Unfortunately, like the fried potatoes, they never saw any spice. Too bad about the fish! Next time I'll have the crab soup at most. Not worth the money...

My review back then: The concept doesn't work at all. No cards, just QR codes... Nobody wants that. Especially not the clientele in CUX. We left immediately. We downloaded the card, but it was far too complicated. So we went out and went to a restaurant with a card. It works! We like Gosch in Travemünde and on Sylt, but not the one in CUX. Today's review: fantastic! From the extremely friendly and attentive team to the ambiance and the quality of the food... 5 stars! Very generous portions and top-quality food! I had the Thai penne with shrimp (22 pieces!). It tasted amazing! The degree of doneness and spiciness were perfect! And... there's a menu! It works! The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and great importance is placed on cleanliness! We'd love to come back! Now Gosch has arrived in CUX too!😁

The food was almost burnt and the service was completely unfriendly and unmotivated. I haven't experienced this in other Gosch branches.

I'm annoyed that I didn't take a photo. The day before yesterday we got a 'salmon' sandwich here. You had to look for the salmon, sliced ​​so thin that you could only guess what it might taste like when eating it if you were lucky. The onions were the only garnish on this baked roll and you could hardly see or taste any of the sauce. Unfortunately we only unpacked it in the holiday apartment, otherwise we would have returned it. A disgrace for the price. So I can only advise against it!!

The food was okay, but the service left a lot to be desired - there was no 'please' or 'thank you' at the order taking/food serving desk or at the bar. For €5 I got a drink that had little to do with cola. The ambience is average, but the view is at least nice. However, I won't come here a second time.

Overall it was OK. The fish was 1a but the potato salad that came with it was a disaster. It bothered me that dogs were allowed there. On the other hand, it was very cold in the adjacent winter garden. The door was constantly used to go in and out.

Unfortunately not in February, no cleaning of the 4 beach chairs, the fish rolls were baked very hard, the white wine was poured below 0.2 mark... I wouldn't go here again...

The location is great. Right on the beach, clean and nice decoration. Rather average for Gosch standards. Much better in Hamburg and Scharbeutz. The rolls were hard and the fried fish was in the deep fryer for too long.

The grilled prawns were a delight, the salad was fresh and delicious. But fish & chips... Any motorway service station can do it better! A soup bowl with fries and five or six chicken nuggets spread along the edge... No words.

Large selection of fish and drinks. It doesn't taste bad either, but you can eat better elsewhere.

The service was friendly, the Köpi was nice and cold. The penne al dente and the sauce with shrimps were tasty. Clear recommendation to stop by here.

When I go here I really like to eat the salmon spaghetti. And I really like it 😋. If you like salmon, I can highly recommend it. There are different opening times in the low season.

Great fish restaurant with fresh offerings. The food looks and tastes excellent. The staff are attentive, helpful and friendly. You can pay by card. Everything is at ground level and the terrace is protected by a roof and has movable windows. The restaurant is located in the center of Duhnen just behind the dike.

Our enthusiasm is very limited. Fast food and self-service at fine dining prices. At least the fish was good. Fried potatoes and salad nothing special, the mustard sauce... no comment!

"Juice Shop" It's probably not allowed to say here, so I'll express myself more carefully: I was there today for the first time as part of a vacation. I find the concept very opaque; when you're there for the first time, you can't see through it. You can't tell whether there is service there or not. Although there are always waiters walking around, it takes a while to realize that they are just clearing tables and not taking orders. Only the beeping pagers at neighboring tables make you leave the table and go to the counter in search of food and drinks. I placed my order there, but only part of it was taken because they only serve food here, you have to order and pay for drinks somewhere else. When I came back with my drink and a pager, my table was occupied by very present and determined pensioners, despite the utensils left behind, who had also taken over all the blankets from the surrounding tables. The food was OK but I didn't like the atmosphere at all, I won't be back.

The worst fish sandwich I've ever eaten. You can get much better ones on every corner. The only positive thing is that it was freshly made. I would never go to the store again

Unfortunately not enough fish and too many French fries. However, the fish was very tasty.

Not a good Gosch restaurant for me. The fried potatoes almost without ham and very manageable in quantity. In other Gosch, it is often at least twice as much and better. (French fries on someone else's plate looked better). Rest normal without climax. There was plenty of seating, the place was pretty empty?! Paying a tip before the meal and without service is not an option for me. If all is well, very happy and generous. But a hard-to-find No button when paying in advance with a card is always worth 1 star deduction for me.

We've always enjoyed going to Gosch Duhnen since it opened... but this afternoon we were really annoyed 😬 Apparently smoking and vaping have also been banned in the outdoor area/second winter garden 🚫 We're vapers and sat there at every opportunity lavishly eaten... but apparently Gosch now wants to scare us away as well-paying guests!? So, no thanks, Gosch! At some point the fun of non-smoker/vaper protection ends - two regular customers less 😏 Luckily there are alternatives!!! …. POURED OUT

The taste of the food is just as good as on Sylt, unfortunately the staff here is very unfriendly, destructive and not customer-oriented. At least on the day we visited.

I ate here during my vacation and was very satisfied. The atmosphere is very nice and inviting! The employees were very friendly and accommodating! I'll be happy to come back if I'm in the area again. Thank you for the delicious food and for being here!

P/L still good with food, same with wine. There is no serving, everything is self-service. Problem: You can't really make a reservation and it's always packed.

Great restaurant, lots of space, great location. Very clean, very attentive staff who immediately clear away the empty plates. Despite the high and heavy customer frequency, everyone there is nice and polite. Even if you just want to have a drink, it's no problem. The meals were good.

Good morning! My wife and I ate fish rolls at Gosch here in Cux for the first time... and for the last time! Unfortunately the rolls were quite small and the roll was sticky... there was no lettuce leaf... In addition, there were some things that were not available here at Gosch in Cux that are available at Gosch on Sylt... for example the delicious salmon sausages...! Conclusion: Big name - nothing behind it... It's kind of like fast food - Gosch is now a chain with all the negative characteristics... Then you'd better go back to our "fish roll and street food dealer" on the main street in Duhnen... PS: I also find it strange that the outline of Sylt is emblazoned above the “Gosch Sylt” restaurant! I would find it more appropriate if it said "Gosch Cux"... With the distinctive red "X" ...the thing with the "Sylt" in the logo had already bothered me at Gosch in St. Peter Ording...

For a relatively large amount of money, average food made from fries

Good fish fry cuisine in the heart of Duhnen. I only give it 4 points for self-service. The restaurant makes a clean and well-kept impression. Food freshly prepared.

I asked yesterday if I needed to pre-order mussels! It's posted everywhere in the restaurant and advertised on every table. In October we are in the middle of the season. Simply go to the kitchen area and order was the answer. I come there today and I'm told mussels won't be available again for another 3 days. Absolute impudence, that was it for me. Gosch in Duhnen never again, I feel totally betrayed here!!

Just a Gosch like all the others, just in a very unfavorable location with a direct view of the dike. I can't give more stars for self-service.

Food is OK for a snack. Service is rather lackluster, without empathy for the guest, which unfortunately suits Germany's service desert all too well. Not everything can be excused by a lack of staff.

So, I bought 1 Matjes roll and 1 Bismark roll for €4.30 each. I had to look for the fish at the matjes roll. So not a whole herring fillet, but 2 quarter pieces and not even remoulade underneath. And on a dry bun. The Bismarck herring wasn't any better. So I had different memories of Gosch. So the price-performance ratio is not right there at all. My conclusion is never to eat at Gosch again. This is really a rip off.

Food was good, portions were ok, everything went pretty quickly. Just like you're used to at Gosch. Drink prices are quite steep (0.4 l Alster + 0.4 Diet Coke = almost € 10.-)

My wife and I were thrilled. We only know Gosch from Sylt and wanted to try it out in Duhnen and it was great. The food was quick and tasty and so were the drinks. Nicely decorated inside...we will come back.

At gosch, as almost always in other places, you sit in the front row. You have to queue to get food and drinks. I had a fish soup. It was very tasty. Service at the table would of course be more relaxed.

There is a branch of the Gosch chain on the promenade. Classically furnished, as you would expect from Gosch, you can order drinks and food from different counters. As always, the selection is sufficiently large, but the prices are now quite high for the type of gastronomy. We had the fish soup and a fried fish with couscous salad. The couscous salad was only available with vegan fried fish. Therefore, the service should be mentioned positively here, which made the couscous salad possible as a side dish to the regular fried fish. The taste was also completely fine, but not that 5 stars were necessary. Overall, you already know what you're getting here, hence a solid 4 stars.

You can eat good fish. So far it's okay. Service is only available in the form that the table is cleared after the meal. However, these employees are extremely friendly and always with a smile. You have to bring your own food and drinks.

They live from their good reputation, but no longer live up to it September 2024 Pan fish was dry not seasoned Steinbeiser fillet full of bones, not seasoned and dry. My recommendation is to fry for a little less time so the fish stays juicy.

Anyone who knows Gosch on Sylt will be disappointed with Cuxhaven

Gosh. Always. The name stands for quality!

Incredibly unfriendly staff, which doesn't apply to everyone, but unfortunately clearly stands out. We were there three times and each time we unfortunately had soggy, unfriendly encounters. I don't know that from Gosch. The food is nicely prepared and ok. However, a certain amount of friendliness and at least a small smile is just as important as a good meal... It's a shame that this isn't available here.

The food is ok, what's not good is the sometimes rude staff. You get irritated or cheeky answers to normal questions. Too bad. But it's a self-service restaurant anyway. However, I think this is a NO-GO. PS: If you ask around, many others share this opinion. At least the shrimp tasted good. However, the “garlic baguette” has little to do with a garlic baguette and tastes like nothing and is very dry.

The whole facility was very clean and well maintained. Staff were absolutely friendly despite the stress. Beautifully located right on the water. You can sit inside, outside or in the winter garden. We really enjoyed and enjoyed it. Thank you...

Just a gosh. When you come here you know what to expect. The food is ordered and then picked up at the counter. The rooms are beautifully furnished and invite you to linger. There is also some seating outside. The only thing is that unfortunately you don't have a view of the North Sea. Other Gosch are better. The food was great. We come here regularly and also enjoy the Gosch wines. Some of the staff have been there from the start. This speaks for a good relationship between employer and employee. It should be mentioned that the toilets are also very clean.

That was a total failure. A step backwards in quality. Vegetables completely overcooked, dripping with fat. Shrimp cooked past the point. Fish didn't seem fresh either. The worst meal of our vacation so far, only the drinks were super chilled.

The food was better. We actually just went because of the location and the name. The food was much better on Sylt. I can't necessarily recommend the restaurant in Duhnen.

Try to keep it short🫣the name is or should be Program and yes, here we managed to meet the expectations that, at least in my opinion, people have of Gosch, to hold a candle to the original and to implement it across the board. This is certainly thanks to the time of year, as the season is clearly coming to an end and the stress factor for the very nice and attentive staff is no longer quite as high. 1) great food menu. 2) Everything was freshly prepared and you can watch it. 3) Both in the local area and on the large terrace area you can sit comfortably and comfortably and everything is clean and the table decorations are not overloaded with thousands of offers such as “ship tours etc.”, and the tables were even wiped down in between. 4) From various beach chairs to normal tables and seating, to bar tables with comfortable bar stools, everyone should find their place. 5) The usual self-service concept works 100% here and, cleverly, there was no sign of a lack of staff here. 6) Prices are of course adapted to the name and location but as I said, fresh, super tasty, great plates and ambience just go together. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the “fine fish soup”, but it was also sensational and served super hot in great porcelain. Very happy again, thank you very much for that.

You can sit outside here and admire the people and the landscape. Fried fish with fries €10.90 (for frozen goods) and small wine spritzer €4.50. You can really save yourself that and instead get a fish sandwich from a small stall and sit on a bench.
