The premises are comfortably traditional, just as you'd expect in this area. Very clean and cozy. The food is excellent in both quality and portion size. We were there again today, this time as a group, and as always, the service was very friendly and attentive. The chef still personally visits each table and asks for our preferences. A place you always enjoy going to, arriving at, and staying in. Friendly and attentive service, good food (even special requests are accommodated), a fantastic view of Lake Constance and the Alps, and plenty of parking for visitors. It's good to know there are still places that stay!

We've been here for several Christmas parties and the food was always excellent. Service is prompt and attentive, cordial, personal, and pleasant. Vegetarian options available (haven't tried them, assume they are also good). Parking available directly at the restaurant. Beautiful location with lake view when seated at the windows towards the front.

A truly wonderful and incredibly cozy restaurant. The staff are all very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The food is sensational and delicious. The dessert was a sweet dream. I found the prices very fair. A great location in Konstanz, and I can highly recommend it. ^^ I would suggest making a reservation. Great location and very good food

We ate at the Hohenegg restaurant and were very pleased with the quality of the food. The food was truly delicious, and the portions were generous and well-sized. It was a bit of a shame that the waiter couldn't bring a working pepper shaker even after three attempts – they were all empty. Apart from that, however, it was a pleasant visit with very good food.

Very tasty food, which came quickly. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Even the chef came several times to check if everything was okay. We had roast beef with onions, salad, boiled beef, and cheese spaetzle. The view was very nice! Dog-friendly too.

An old-fashioned restaurant with no frills, and a rather old-fashioned menu. It was our choice to come here, and we weren't disappointed. So, be careful with the portions; they're old-fashioned and generous. The service is impeccable, with helpful staff and such speed. It just goes to show that sometimes "old-fashioned" can be a good thing. I almost forgot about the terrace, which offers a beautiful view of Lake Bodensee.

We stopped twice and received friendly service. The burger at the snack bar was very good, and the fresh beer is also recommended. The ambiance in the pub is a bit dated, and they could improve it with a little effort. For example, removing the weeds on the terrace. The small beer garden next door, on the other hand, is lovely.

More could be done from the place. Unfortunately, the meats in 2 main courses were not cooked well, they remained tough. The place is not bad, but it could be improved for 5*.

The food was good and plentiful. The service was very unfriendly. We tried to put two tables together, but the polite lady told us not to. Drinks were taken before everyone was even seated. When the food arrived, it was also a complete mess. We won't be coming back here.

Unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment for me. The service is really poor, which you can tell right from the moment you make the reservation. Very unfriendly. We all found the food rather mediocre, but the prices were rather high. In my opinion, it wasn't a very good restaurant with a good location. There were three of us, and unfortunately, we were all disappointed.

One star is for the view over the parked cars to the lake. They charge 24 euros for a few minced meat rolls with rice and salad, which is absolute extortion. For that, you get ink and chairs with cushions from a 1-euro store.

We don't understand the previous 4.6-star rating. The only positive aspects were the quick seating and the locally brewed beer and house wine – more of which could have been used to offset the waiter's mood. Everything was served correctly; there's nothing to complain about...but it doesn't deserve the designation "service." The main issue – the food. It tasted more like it had been warmed up, was only lukewarm, and poorly presented. The decor also seems very dated – if we weren't in Konstanz, I'd easily use the phrase "GDR charm." One positive aspect is the location directly on the lake.

Unfortunately, the restaurant didn't impress us with its food during our visit. The prices are quite high – €29 for a steak assumes a certain level of quality. Unfortunately, the meat was tough, undercooked, and overall, the flavor was simply not harmonious. The other dishes didn't quite satisfy us either. For three people, we paid over €100 for food and drinks – that would have been fine in principle if the culinary experience had matched it. However, the value for money was disappointing. Conclusion: A plus for the view and friendly service, but if you value good food, you won't be happy here.

It's a traditional restaurant with a beautiful view, so the service must not be good. From hair in the food, to raw chicken, stringy salads, dirty plates, to incompetent and uninterested waiters. They are actually quite unfriendly and rude. The head chef looks tired and, as per protocol, greets the large tables, but shows no real interest. He even seems absent-minded. I've known this restaurant for 10 years and unfortunately it has gone from bad to worse. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant. The prices are far too high for the quality.

We passed by on our bike ride and spontaneously stopped in without anything to eat, just a drink. We received a super-friendly welcome and were served very quickly and friendly, even without anything to eat. Very courteous service. We would definitely stop here again.

However, getting there was more difficult than expected: Google Maps suggested a route via a footpath and bike path, which can quickly become confusing for drivers. The drinks menu deserves special mention, especially the beer, which comes directly from the neighboring brewery – fresh, well-chilled, and high-quality. Less pleasing was the handling of the food order: There was an obvious error, resulting in the wrong dish being brought out. However, the waiter reacted unprofessionally and insisted that "Pumukel" was written on his note, even though he actually meant "Pokemon." (A portion of fries instead of spaetzle with sauce.) No accommodation or solution was offered. We simply reordered the correct one. The meal itself had its ups and downs. The children's portion was generous and would have been enough for an adult. The main courses ranged in price from €22 to €40, which raises expectations of quality that were unfortunately not met: The chicken curry was disappointing – the rice still had too much bite, the chicken was tough, and with five small pieces (approx. 100g), the portions were rather lean. Some of the pork loins were also undercooked; only one was okay (schnitzel with egg and fried potatoes). The only real plus point of the evening was the fantastic view from the terrace – a great place for a sunset or coffee, but unfortunately not a convincing place for a good dinner.

The atmosphere resembled that of a youth hostel and gave us a very bad feeling. The fries were reminiscent of a visit to an outdoor pool – bad, but better than nothing. The price of €6.80 shocked me. Overall, the food was very bland and tasted like it had been reheated; not recommended. Poor value for money. And our request to sit outside was also not honored – but when we left the restaurant, other guests had been granted the option. It's a shame – especially considering you pay high prices for a location directly on Lake Constance. Although we were at the Rhine Falls that same day, it wasn't the biggest disappointment of the day.

I found the service a bit minimalist. No smiles. We weren't escorted to our table when we were greeted. The chairs didn't have cushions, which I had to arrange. I also called ahead and was told there was space, but only outside, which I wasn't told. The food was good. The children's menus, however, aren't as creative...

Disappointing experience - not recommended The value for money was disappointing. The staff seemed unfriendly and unhelpful. When we asked for a child seat, we were simply told that one was available - but we had to get it ourselves. Overall, the food was unspectacular and unconvincing. The ice cream sundae as a dessert was particularly negative: the ice cream tasted cheap and was very reminiscent of discount goods - not the quality you would expect in a restaurant. A repeat visit is out of the question for us.

We enjoyed the parking spaces of the Ruppaner brewery in beautiful surroundings (but only after the not so beautiful factory complex. The restaurant is cozy. The interior is well maintained, an older style. Especially beautiful. The food was very fine. Enjoy cheese spaetzle and beef liver with a view of Lake Constance... wonderful.

It's a shame that you can't seem to avoid criticism of the food here. We ate there, it wasn't anything special and the rating was accordingly high. Two years later, attempts are being made to intimidate people with Google complaints. Really dubious, that's not how you should deal with criticism.

We had to wait a long time for our food even though the restaurant wasn't full. My fish fillet was very dry and the vegetables were overcooked and oversalted. My companions' food was good.

I visited this restaurant because there weren't any other good, home-style restaurants open for miles around. But it was worth it. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. Just what you'd expect. The ambiance was also appropriate, just not outstanding, hence only a 4-star rating. But otherwise, everything was fine. My visit, however, was a month ago, on November 29th.

We were traveling back to Munich from a new years getaway in Colmar. I found this place as one of few open places on the national holiday. Everything was great. The food is freshly cooked and the portions are very big. The restaurant overlooks the lake and has a beautiful view of it. On top of a very good food, quality service, and beautiful atmosphere, the chef made our day by personally coming to our table and asking whether we liked the food. We loved this place and will come back if we’re ever around again. I can imagine how much more beautiful it would be sitting outside on a summer day.

Ich war Heute mit meiner Familie und einem guten Familien Freund hier im Restaurant Hohenegg zum Weihnachtsessen. Heute gab es eine Feiertage Karte mit verschiedenen leckere Speisen. Wir hatten eine sehr Freundliche, schnelle Bedienung. Ich, meine Frau, mein Schwager und meinen Familien Freund hatten die Weihnachtssuppe. Sie war echt sehr schmackhaft und gut. Anschliessend gab es eine bunten gemischten Salat, war auch sehr gut und die Salatsosse hat mir Super geschmeckt. Ich mein Schwager und Markus hatten Fleisch Spiess auf Balkan Art mit Pommes, Tomaten Gemüse Reis, geschnittene Frühlingszwiebeln und Peperoni / Paprika Sosse. Der Fleischspiess war richtig gebraten, das Fleisch war drin noch schön saftig. Hat mir und alle anderen gut geschmeckt. Meine Tochter und meine Nichte hatten Schnitzel mit Pommes... Zwei wirklich richtig zubereitete Schnitzel, die Panade überhaupt nicht trocken und das Fleisch saftig... TOP Schnitzel! Meine Frau hat das Hirsch Gulasch gewählt, mit Preiselbeeren, gekochte Williams Birne und Spätzle, auch sehr sehr gut (die Portion war Grosszügig). Hat an meiner Frau auch sehr gut geschmeckt. Und meine Schwester hat etwas mit Fisch und Gemüse bestellt, war auch sehr Schmackhaft. Einige von uns nahmen noch eine Nachspeise "Apfelstrudel mit Vanille Eis Kugeln, Apfel Schnitze und als Deco frische Minze" war auch sehr Super lecker. Zirka sechs Leute nahmen noch einen Kaffee und wir drei Männer noch ein feinen Brand vom Balkan (hat uns sehr gemundet. Die Bedienung war Hervorragend, der Total Preis Human, überhaupt nicht überrissen [da hat man wirklich für das Geld noch richtig etwas bekommen]. Wir haben das Lokal mit Zufriedenheit und Begeisterung verlassn. Im Sommer bei gutem Wetter kann man draussen Speisen mit der schönen Sicht auf den Bodensee. Wir alle sagen... Dies Restaurant kann man sehr gut Empfehlen!!!

We planned our daughter's baptism dinner with 35 people and held it in Hohenegg. Nothing was prepared when we arrived at 12 p.m. as agreed. The service from A to Z was unfriendly and overwhelmed at the same time. For every 35 people we had one waiter who was extremely overwhelmed and unfriendly. The meat was tough and some guests couldn't eat their meat. Coffee sometimes came 30 minutes after ordering. When I wanted to pay I was asked how it was, which I thought was great, but the waiter rejected everything and talked his way out of it instead of accepting the criticism and apologizing. I wouldn't hold a party there again. The location is great but you shouldn't rely on it. The restaurant is getting old and the furniture and interior design are from the 90s.

Food and service not recommended. Cheese spaetzle was lukewarm, the fried onions sprinkled on top didn't deserve the name because they were cold and tough. The cutlery lay on a plate that was dirty with candle wax. Missing napkins on the table were not discovered by the service staff. We had to wait longer for the bill, the waiter always had something else to do other than bring us the bill.

Nothing special, but quite ok for a German restaurant... We still had table arrangements from the night before on the table and a food maggot crawled over the tablecloth from a flower. It wasn't that big of a deal, I brought it outside on a napkin without comment, but it detracted from the overall impression...

Bisher für mich das in Konstanz leckerste Sauerkraut, klasse gewürzt und ein perfektes Kartoffelpüree zu ausgezeichneter Blut- und Leberwurst zu einem günstigen Preis. Dazu eine Flasche super Rotwein aus Südafrika: Ulumbaza - ein perfekter Genuss mit Seeblick.
